Stephen continues shooting at the other one, but gives him a chance to run away first. After dispatching him, I search their bodies and look into the pit, using my geiger counter to determine if it's safe to explore it further.

I don't like talking in the third person if I'm not using my real name, so unless it's bad in some way, I'll just use I from now on.. I keep my hand over my handgun as I approach them, with my other hand outstretched to show I mean no harm. But if they are edgy/threatening then I'll shoot them. I want to find out what's in the pit.

Right, okay. Right, okay. Stephen notes smoke in the sky and walks towards it, maneuvering through some undergrowth with his hunting knife. [Level of Godmodding acceptable? If not, I walk aimlessly around in a circle.]

Stephen begins to build a camp near the edge of the Deadzone. Does it need more details? Also, is there any level of player interaction?

i fear this will be unplayable to me except on weekends which from the 'skills' area of the game leaves me quite disadvantaged which is a shame

I'm up for a game now.
  8. For a prize that's valued at what, 3-4k USD? Not sure if that's worth it to me. Especially the hassle of postage and shipping internationally, it might be cheaper to buy a month of membership on a nub acct. Or on your main, that'd make sense too. Unless you're like, obsessively F2P or something.
  9. Tbh, I struggle to class Gmod as FPS. It's sandbox, not shooter. Totally different to the rest of games I'd class as FPS, even the obscure ones like Shattered Horizon.
  10. There is a world of difference between the '4' major FPS games. Halo, Battlefield, COD, and Source games (specifically Counter-Strike). It's the 'feel' in the way they're played. I haven't played Halo that much so I can't really comment on it, but I have good experience with the other games. Starting with Source, I've clocked over 1000 hours on CSS and the same amount on TF2 as well. The games are simply fun, there's something satisfying in their simplistic nature. Valve just made an fps, there is a small backstory but what they really made was a game where you load up, shoot your opponents and that's that. CSS doesn't feel very atmospheric, but there is a huge balance in it - no gun is really the clear best, just some are easier to use (M4, AK) - etc. It's just good. COD is lame. Really lame. It was quite cool, then the 360 got released and Infinity Ward smelled money. COD4 was undoubtedly one of the best games of whenever it was released. But it didn't have much of a feel. You played through the same maps which.. are ok, but they're not amazing. They don't have great routes you can take which make you feel like a proper 'soldier'. The gameplay is so repetitive because every in COD is predefined. Simply; playing multiplayer COD4 gets old fast. In my opinion. Battlefield is an EA game. Sounds crap already, huh? BF2 is still played by thousands today, and it's older than COD4 (I'm pretty sure). There isn't really anything special about BF2 in my eyes. It's a fun game, but it's not that forgiving and it's "feel" is quite average. However. Four days ago, Battlefield : Bad company 2 was released. And honestly, best "feel" out of any FPS ever. Ever. If you thought COD6 was gonna set the benchmark, you were wrong. It's this thing. I'd play it now, but some (moral) part of me feels that skipping school to play games is just lame. It's the first game I've ever played where the maps feel like a warzone, and not a multiplayer arena like the ones in COD and even Source games. There's dust, buildings falling down, roofs shot out, walls with holes in. And it's balanced - properly. You might not agree with my syonopsis (?) of each game, but I hope I got the point across - every FPS has a very distinct feel which sets it apart from it's competitors.

  13. My proposal: Kingdoms Hegemony with Archi's moderation I'm not much for RPing...
  14. Smirk, I have the new version of Colonization. I'm a huge fan of the CIV games. Looking forward to CIV5! Anyway, I have to be honest, I have no clue what happens in Dungeoneering. I've tried to follow it a few times but as far as I can tell it's just a load of people proxying other people.
  15. Return of the Florentines please. That would be awesome. Honestly, without the superhumanomgwtfbbq weapons of the modern era, Archi's moderation would be ideal. The Romance of the medieval period suits his writing perfectly. Heh, skimming through the Kingdoms thread makes me miss Granzi. That guy was legendary.
  16. Fact is, I didn't sign up to this game to be forced out on the basis of "well if someone wanted to build anthrax bombs in real life they could so we should apply it to the game". It was about having fun as a small, bonded community. Apparently you disagree with that.
  17. So I'm supposed to suicide my entire army onto Japan? Be crippled, or be crippled. That's moderation for you.
  18. Please quote somewhere I said I was totally ok with Anthrax weapons and that I would like to see them in use? Just because we're not saying "Woot go mods!" and rubbing your egos 24/7 doesn't mean you can "prove a point" which is gamebreaking.
  19. I'd actually enjoy playing in a post-apocalyptic world (Fallen Earth, anyone?) but I don't think the e-peens of forum goers would be suitable to such an enviroment, and besides, this is hegemony, I wanted to play in a 'realistic' - stretching the word - future with 'respectable, gentlemanly' wars. Anthrax, ICBM's.. I hope none of you have an interest in politicking.
  20. lold at all of this Undecided whether it's worth continuing in such a subservient position. Perfect example of why long range super weapons are boring. Not overpowered etc, but boring. "I don't bother thinking about a land war BECAUSE IM GOING TO KILL THE ENTIRE PLANET AHAHAHAHA" Also, can Retech shut the hell up about his "attacks" in the thread, keep it to PM's.
  21. Italy prepares to evacuate it's troops from Indonesia.
