  1. In 4 years, you've increased the GDP of MAD and Swaziland over 450 billion. Sorry what?
  2. @Somalia http://leasticoulddo.com/comic/20090729
  3. Excellent! I shall ally with you, just remember that flaregun > woodenships. Especially with minicrits. Also, good luck on stopping nuclear navies of the modern world with your badly equipped boats. Just sayin'. Lots of Exoskeleton's going around.
  4. After their leader departs, germany slips into anarchy, and after a few weeks, most everyone is dead due to violent riots and explosives being set off. ... Amazingly, the world's economy is hardly fazed by this sudden turn of events in one of the biggest nations in Europe.
  5. Japan's start of the year update MILITARY PERSONNEL/EQUIPMENT: We've managed to get all four Nuclear Submarines up and running (We began construction two years ago. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!), as well as the Aircraft Carrier "Tigger". Recruitment for the army has slowed a little, down to only 35,000 new recruits in the last 6 months - bringing our total active personnel to 575,000. However, this number is expected to rise in the new year. Currently only 175,000 troops are in training, with 100,000 of these nearing their completion in 6 months time. MILITARY/DIPLOMATIC CAMPAIGNS: Mambosa has been captured by the advance guard of Exoskeleton A-2 equipped Heavy Infantry of the Japanese and Iranian armies, without casualties and bombardment from the frigates prior to landing. The Kenyan's defending the city soon scrambled at the sight of the Exoskeleton's, a fact noted by the commander at the ciy. The Exoskeleton unit is currently running happily north, planning on taking out all sea ports, our navy is moving alongside them up the coast while the rest of our forces quell resistance in the city. In Papua New Guinea, the country has agreed to hand over to Japanese control peacefully, and 10,000 troops have been dispatched to complete their training in PNG to help keep the peace while the take over happens. [To make this clear: The Japanese Empire now holds Papua New Guinea and a small slice of Kenya, which will quickly grow.] INFRASTRUCTURE: The new strand of Verde Soylante which "eats" pollution has proved immensely useful, helping to drop pollution levels in Tokyo by 2%. These plants are now also being planted in the newly cleared lands, hoping to keep pollution down in what was a nature haven. No more changes in how we get our power, other than a small increase in solar technology. CeeCityFifteen has been moved into now, there are currently 62,000 people living in the city in comfortable houses. Reports of sea sickness are rare, amazingly. Due to Verde Soylante and lower population density, 800,000 babies were born this year. Wonderful.
  6. The plan we agreed was that China would simply continue to do as it would pre-game, trading wise, but is otherwise untouchable. So that the world economy doesn't explode.
  7. I do believe some countries have 'claims' in certain parts of Antarctica, but for the most part it is an international landmass, and therefore I shall not allow you to attempt the control of Antarctica. You can have any pre-game land your country had though. There is a combined Brazilian/Japanese fleet. (Or two, Doom didn't pay much attention when I said I was sending some ships to help) off the coast of Antarctica to stop any "claimants". - though, actually, I'm not sure what stance we have on nations wanting to do testing within Antarctica, with a byproduct of "claiming" some land for said testing Doesn't quite work like that. You could start peaceful negotiations, which could take a few years - but why on earth would they want to be taken over by you? What good could possibly come out of that for them? what could come out of it for them? well, if they are part of the richest nation/rulers/super power, then there is going be better chance for advancement in those countries, leading to a better quality of life Some part of my brain seems to have a problem with you becoming a superpower because you took over a third world country, which you claim needs you to improve. And sadly, taking over a third world country is not going to boost NZ's GDP to a level where you can compete with the big boys on your own. EDIT: I just want to be clear that I'm not being overly pessimistic, or anything similiar. I'm just clearing it up that becoming a superpower is a long term goal, as is the production of antimatter, and should be treated as such. And frankly, with the resources NZ has at the moment, taking over an African country is a bit ambitious. You should begin by striking up an alliance with Australia, and then perhaps together you guys could do some military conquest stuff. But you don't become a superpower on your own, not unless you're extremely lucky.

  9. yeah well, theres always going to be power struggles in the world, and those with the best technology are going to end up on top, which is me. Yeah. Good luck with leading the tech race mate. EDIT: Just to clarify mate, EVERYONE in your ENTIRE nation could donate ALL their money and ALL their business' profit to your R&D department, and I would STILL have more USD going into R&D. hence why i am going to take over some of the smaller and as of yet unclaimed nations (mainly africa, alot is untaken) and use them as a work force/army, using the resources from those areas to boost my economy to do more for r&d in my (hopefully) superpower to be. That's your army. With 2.2k reserves. Even most African countries have more than that. Just sayin'.
  10. @Warda Furthermore, Da_Latios is creating antimatter for worldwide energy use, so nobody is going to oppose him. Even so, it's crazy badassery idea and I'm not 100% Japan supports it.

  12. Well, I guess that seems okay. I have no problem with you running NZ. Apologies to Gauper though, I hope you still want to play with your second choice of country. :) Lol though. It's going to take a looong time for NZ to manufacture antimatter. Besides which, I'm not sure the nations of the world are going to be very happy with you if you do that.
  13. i already tried to claim nz....3 times. i just keep getting ignored Wait, what?! I'm sorry man. Can you link us to your plan for the country?
  14. To be honest, I have no [bleep]ing idea.
  15. As far as I know, yes. Please post a _detailed_ plan on what you want to do with it, though.
  16. That's a damn awesome map mate. One thing though, Japan is playing around with Papua New Guinea. One way or another, it'll be ours before the end of the year.
  17. Here's what I remember. More countries are moving in to take control of (whether by force or diplomacy) unclaimed countries in africa. There is a non-aggression pact for all the colonizing countries, that I think most have signed, the only country that I know that hasn't is my own, Brazil. Brazil and Norway have partnered to research space exploration. Any donations the USA might want to give would be well received, as Brazil and Norway don't have the spending power to front such a massive project alone, atleast not for the time being. The israelis have made lots of new small arms to improve their and their allies armies, That's all I can remember for now. I think it was mainly Eygpt that was producing new light weapons. Also, Japan is steering clear of COIN too (the pact in Africa). EDIT: Here's how I see the layers of the game. At the most basic level, there is the internal infrastructure being improved. Japan's forestry industry, for example. Then the level equal with this is the trade/alliance level, where everything else that contributes to your countries "strength" goes. And then the second level, where all the major updates and whatnot go, is basically military conquest and global _advancements_ (like the space program). EDIT: Argentina sent it's troops to Gabon.
  18. I'll try to explain it all now. Hang on for an edit, in the meantime, here's the latest map http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=6831780#p6831780 First, the "NWO" meeting ended with the destruction of Hawaii and the deathray lasers explodin'. We also got set out some rules. I think the only country claimed (that had anything done to it) since you last read was Da_Latios claiming all of Korea. He's currently staying isolated and constructing a nice LHC, which he hopes will be completed within 15 years. In Africa, military conquest is rife. Brazil is close to controlling Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and I think Zimbabwe. Japanese and Iranian forces have lead a joint assault on Kenya. Eygpt/Libya expands into Algeria, and Luxembourgh is completing it's take over of mozambique. Iranian/Israeli/Japanese scientists at the Faroe Island institute have created a "suit" called the Exoskeleton A-2 (I think) which basically makes the wearer superhuman. Venezuelan scientists also working on the Faroe islands are working on seeds for Verde Soylante. I can't remember what they came up with though. Argentina too, I think, is somewhere in Africa but I can't remember where. China quit. - We've decided that China will basically be a "dead" nation and continue as it was pre-game, and all interaction other than pre-game trade will not be allowed. Israel and the Lebanon is expanding into Saudi Arabia That's as much as I can remember off the top of my head. EDIT: Lol, the Brazil/Norway space program too.
  19. Other way around, 2 months=4 hours. 12 months in a year, 24 hours in a day. Oh right yeah, of course.. In my defence, it's 6am. EDIT: Japan is entering talks with Papua New Guinea about a peaceful takeover, however Japan warns Mongolian leaders that if no agreement is reached before the end of the year (I give it a few hours?) then the military will quickly defeat PNG's (lol) huge active personnel of 2100. Japan intends to fight poverty in PNG and turn it into a agricultural haven.
  20. @Rpg, first, 4 months in game is 2 hours in RL. What with there being 24 hours in a day and 12 months in a year.. Unless I'm doing something very wrong. Secondly, I thought you agreed you were being a little bit over expansive for your economy? Even if the land is "empty", it's still going to cost quite a bit to secure control (especially so far from your motherland! think of the transport costs and upkeep costs, soldiers aren't cheap stationed so far from home)..
  21. Luxembourg would like to know if it can build a port on the southern edge of Italy. Simply because I need a sea port somewhere between my mainland and my African colony(s). In return I offer you free trade (previously it was tariffed) and full military support if you are attacked. I may even throw in a port somewhere in Mozambique for you once I'm done capturing it. Italy already has a bunch of ports, you're welcome to use them for trade. Also trade within the EC is free and military back up is mandatory if a member is attacked. What's the point of having an alliance if there's no benefits? This, basically. My public alliances are as follows; Israel, Iran and I are in a three way alliance. Currently, the IAC consists of only Japan and an inactive Russia. Seriously; we're not doing much. I believe that also Venezuela has promised permanent neutrality towards all actions from Japan. Apologies if I've got the wrong country, though.
  22. :o :( I see your point, and I did promise to stick to realism. In my defense, I did have Russian troops also at my aid. You're right though, I have been spending alot. Even for the richest country around. I withdraw my LAART research for now. I will however do it again in a few years when I have more money. The fresh Argentian troops will replenish those in Mozambique, as the others are going to be released back to Argentina any day now. Russian troops are free to leave as they please, but are asked to please deposit their weapons in Zimbabwe first. I am reluctant to hear that you've declined my offer to join COIN. I call on the EC for military aid if Brazil happens to attack my collony (which I am having a hunch may just happen). East Zimbabwe is now slowly being converted into an agricultural field. Should be complete in a year or so. First, reluctant is the wrong word. It just doesn't fit. Second, just confirming but, when you say "Even for the richest country" - I assume you mean even IF I was? I think that's the simplest way to explain it. I don't think Japan will be taking part in MONEY yet either, but we'll see what happens.
  23. But this is a GIANT railgun. Not designed for warfare, but designed specifically for space travel. It is around 35 metres diametre, and about a mile long. Like a mass driver? Also see The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, by Robert Heinlein. Yeah, essentially a mass driver. It has its own nuclear reactor powering it, so that isn't an issue. Ross, PM's man! EDIT: For anyone interested in Heavy Water, I found this (official?) articlepretty interesting.
  24. You HAVE played that game, remember how you produced all that super duper weaponry out of nowhere? Yeah.
  25. At first I thought this was absurd, that you couldn't just allocate 2 million people, but I was amazed when I discovered that NK's entire economy is government planned and state owned. EDIT: After more research, it turns out Canada has already invented a means of creating Tritium as a by product of the production of Heavy water (deuterium, to some extent). FURTHERMORE: lol
