  1. Pairs? Most of us had to find 3 of a kind
  2. The more often you use lootshare the higher the chance you have of getting the drop. It appears it is not reset for every new event. This may be a bug that gets fixed in the future. If you go with a group of friends that all want to share - turn lootshare on in clan chat and the individual players switch their lootshare off as they get a drop.
  3. Nice guide =D> A few suggestions: Items - get some Relicym's Balm before or Sanafew Serum. If you use the Balm you will need 4 doses each time you get diseased. The Serum also works as a super stat restore and anti-poison. Step 2 - Take a rope and head west from the archeologists. there is a wall you can climb over. On the other side of the wall is a rock you can use your rope with. This creates a permanent shortcut between the plateau top and the agility pyramid - saves having to go through the swamp every time. Step 4 - the firemaking levels required to light the logs seem to be the ones you would need to light a log using the Barbarian method. (This may be a bug). If you use up the 3 logs provided any type of log will do. Step 4 - as well as the cog you can also turn the switch, just over the number showing how many tries you have left, to get more chances. I suspect both of these are dependant on your thieving level and the initial number is based on how much steam you allocated to the room. Step 4 - I would suggest leaving the Scarab till last as if you fail any of the other rooms you will need to kill it again. The Keris dagger you got from the Contact quest is very effective when fighting the Scarab. Extra - During the quest Simon Templeton will ask if you can do a small job for him. He wants you to set up a deal with the Mummy in the Pyramid Plunder mini-game. The mummy is not interested. When you go back and tell Simon this as a reward he says he will buy all non-gold artifacts from the mini game in their noted form.
  4. Very well done. =D> I saw a 2 mil one done with carved oak tables - they did not pack the party room quite as full as you did. If people can do this often enough it should soon make a mockery of the drops being announced at all the banks.
  5. Not quite an exchange update - but i did enjoy the 'knock knock' jokes you can get by knocking on the doors in the new look Varrock bank (doors in NE corner and SW). Also linking the price you pay at a general store to the exchange prices is likely to have a big impact on the Nature Rune runners. Now in order to unnote your pure ess you will have to pay the exchange price!
  6. Thank you Lord British for clearing up my question as to your identity. My reason for questioning the name was there used to be a fairly high ranking RS player with the name Lord British. That account is no longer active as, I believe, it was banned for reasons unknown. I would like to compliment you on your replies, as I found them very readable and I enjoyed the ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åacerbic wit̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  7. The fact that you are willing to step forward and state you have seen the book in the flesh is good enough for me. All my research on the book was online, and I found no mention to Jagex there. (I found it on Amazon). If one is an adult who knows nothing about online gaming and wish to find out details on playing online safely, but want it from an independent source ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Truthscape is a good resource to use. (But if you were that adult how would you know where to look.) I think there is a lot of good information and advice on the Truthscape site, I just feel some of it is a tad more sensationalised than it needs to be. All of the fansites , be it here, Rune HQ, Zybez or Wiki, have sections on playing online safely, as does the Jagex knowledge base. Jagex do a lot more than many other game sites about trying to ensure most of the players do not fall prey to the few individuals who delight in ruining things for others. My objection to the way Truthscape helps people understand the way to play safely online, is that a lot of the blame for the problems seems to be levelled at Jagex not doing enough. The problems encountered are due to the people you encounter online ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t blame the game designer for that.
  8. Just to add my two cents worth to what Lux has said, if you check out the author of the book, Tracey West, you will find she has written a number of manuals to children̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s games. The front cover of the book boldly proclaims itself as the official handbook, but nowhere on the cover is the Jagex trademark featured. If this was a book sponsored by Jagex, I would have thought they would have ensured their logo was shown? Next to the ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Ådangers of Runescape̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  9. Very nice guide has a lot of the tips I used to get my levels  You should make mention of the Kingdom Management mini-game as a very good source of Tree Seeds. (It may be in there, in which case sorry - I just quickly read through the first page of info.) Also mention use of Fairy rings for some of the farming patches and higher level mages on Lunar have a number of handy spells to help them get around farming patches (as well as no longer needing super compost). Because I am too impatient on Ranarr and Snapdragons, I only tend to plant these in the My Arm patch - however the yields I get there for these 2 herbs is lower than I get using a regular herb patch. (For Ranarrs I get 5 to 9 herbs from the My Arm patch but have had crops of 12+ when I have planted them in regular patches). The fact they never die there probably makes up for the difference in crops. Reading this has made me feel like doing some more intensive farming again, rather than just the herbs and occasional sweetcorn I am doing at the moment.
  10. Well the main point of the mini game was getting the fine cloth for splitbark - these days splitbark is not that much in demand, so most people play it for the other rewards. Tip.it also wanted to give the mini game a different name to the quest. If you look on the Jagex knowledge base, they have named the mini game Shades of Mort'ton, same as the quest. The Knowledge base guide can be found here Shades of Mortton The shade chests are also a great source of clue scrolls
  11. Alternatively, you could just refer to all the information we collected for the mini-game guide. Shades Mini Game
  12. Bad math? :anxious: Yes its actually nearer 3 exp point per gp. 61 gp to buy, tan and craft a piece of yak leather. Sell it to a general store for 50gp ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ so it has cost you 11gp to gain the 32 exp points. Works out at 2.909090 exp per gp.
  13. Welcome to my guide looking at the humble yak as a source of crafting experience for the low to mid level crafter. Ok so they may be big, slow and smelly but the yak is a great source of raw materials for the crafter and can also serve to assist training other skills. To be able to make the best use of this guide you must have got up to the point in the Fremennik Isles quest to be able to make the armour. The Tip It guide can be referred to here Fremennik Isles quest guide You do not need to have completed the quest. In order to have started the quest you would need to have the following levels: 20 Construction 40 Agility 46 Crafting 56 Woodcutting If you have not, I suggest you stop reading this guide immediately and get back to working on your skills. Now if you have started / completed the Fremennik Isles quests you should know where everything is. However as people like to have pictures in their guides lets throw in a few. Yaks can be found on the island of Neitiznot. To get there speak to Maria Gunnars in Rellekka and ask her to ferry you over. She can be found to the north end of Rellekka on the only pier that runs east / west. Now comes the Yak itself ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ this is a Lvl 22 beast with 50 hitpoints and is found just outside the gates of Neitiznot. Their entry in the bestiary can be found here The Yak These beasts are great victims to utilise in combat training ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ be it Mage, Melee or Range. It is the hide and hair we are primarily interested in, but go ahead and bury the bone for prayer exp and cook the meat for some cooking exp. (And to heal any damage the yak may inflict.) There is a range handily located just east of the bank you can use for this. Each piece of yak meat cooked gives you 40 cooking experience and heals 3 hitpoints. The yak hair can be used with a spinning wheel to spin into rope, a very handy item to keep as we frequently find ourselves needing a piece of rope in game. There is a very handy spinning wheel located in Neitiznot, just around the corner from the bank. Many claim that this is the best spinning wheel to use in game as you have a 1 click bank and no doors or stairs to impede you. Each yak hair spun into rope gives you 25 experience. Next we have the hide. In order to craft this you must first have it tanned by Thakkrad Sigmundson. He will tan all the hides you carry for the very reasonable charge of 5gp per hide. Thakkrad Sigmundson is also very handily located just south of the bank in the south west corner of the room the Burgher, Mawnis Burowgar, is in. Having tanned your hides you should make Yak-hide legs. (Note: making either Yak-hide legs or a Yak-hide body will give the same amount of experience. However the body needs 2 yak hides to make, so halving the experience you gain per hide.) Each set of Yak-hide legs you make will give you 32 experience points. But wait ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ there̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s more̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ  Remember that humble rope you spun? Well it can be utilised to yeild yet more experience. Simply chop some Artic Pine trees to get some logs. (Hey I did say you would be gaining experience in a variety of skills). Then take 2 pine logs, a bronze nail (Jofridr Mordstatter, in the bank, sells bronze nails for 7gp each) a hammer and some rope and use the logs on a stump to make a Fremennik round shield. The stumps you can use are located just east of the bank on Neitiznot. Each shield made gives you 34 crafting experience. So from 1 humble yak it is possible to gain a total of 91 crafting experience. For the power trainers out there the following may be of interest: For every full load of yak hair you gain 700 exp points. For every full load of Yak-hide legs made you gain 832 exp points. (You can only make 26 legs at a time as you need to also have needle and thread in your inventory. You use up 1 spool of thread for every 4 legs crafted). You can make 8 Fremennik round shields per load for 280 exp. (1 slot for the hammer, 1 slot for nails, 16 pine logs and 8 ropes). Its all so well and good gaining all this experience, but is there any money in it I hear you ask. Well yes there is! \ Both the Yak-hide trousers and Fremennik round shield have a high alch. value of 300gp. This in itself is not enough to get you whipping out your fire staff and nature runes in order to make with the bling, bling, bling but it will mean that the minimum amount a general store will pay you is 50gp for either. Not too shabby for the outlay of 6gp per yak (5gp for the tanning and 1gp towards a spool of thread). For those nature lovers out there that do not wish to slaughter herds of yaks in order to gain their experience, help is at hand since the recent shops update. During the course of the quest, while collecting the window tax in Jatizso, if you were kind hearted enough to pay the tax for Vanligga Gastfrihet you will have access to a shop selling yak products. (If you were mean spirited worry not, once you refund her the 5k tax she had to pay she will give you access to her shop). Simply talk to her and you will find she stocks unlimited quantities of yak hide, hair and meat. Vanligga Gastfrihet can be found in Jatizso. To get there speak to Mord Gunnars in Rellekka and ask him to ferry you over. Vanligga Gastfrihet is located in the feasting hall directly north of King Gjuki Sorvott IV and there is a bank conveniently located a short walk south east from her. Originally the yak hair had been price at 2gp each, but Jagex decided this was way too little for the amount of experience available so raised it to 120gp. Currently yak hides are still 55gp each but, as is the way of things, this may change. Buying yak hair at 120 gp in order to gain 59 experience points (rope then shield), then only reclaim 50gp is possibly too expensive. Buying the yak hides, tanning them, making Yak-hide legs then selling them to a shop, at the minimum price, would give you 32 exp at a cost of 11gp. This gives you just under a 3 to 1 ratio of experience to gp. If you are willing to expend a bit of time it should be possible to sell your yak hide trousers at a profit. (I will be writing a further guide about this). In order to settle an argument over this being a viable way to gain crafting experience, I personally made 6k of yak hide trousers to go from a crafting level of 79 to 80. I did this by buying the untanned hides from Vanligga Gastfrihet, tanning them and making trousers. My outlay was 366k and I achieved a return of over 660k. (And not one nature rune was used in the process). I would have to say that i think this would be a slow way of gaining experience when you get to higher levels. To get that 1 level took me 3 evenings. (I tend to play for about 3 to 4 hours a night). That time did include getting rid of all the legs I crafted. For a lower level crafter ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ say if you have 46 crafting and want to get to level 63 and green dragonhide bodies - it would take you 9,395 Yak-hide legs. (If you were killing your own yaks and using the hair as well to make to make ropes and shields, only 4,051 yaks need to die). For those with excessive quantities of gp, yak hides currently get sold by players at 300gp each. I would suggest this is still a cheaper method than buying glass and making orbs till you get to lvl 49 and can start making water battlestaffs. Well that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s it. Hopefully reading this has not been a complete waste of your time. Even if you have not gained any new information I hope you have enjoyed the read. Feel free to pass comment or suggest improvements or corrections based on valid personal experience. I would suggest you consider alternative methods of gaining your crafting experience ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ but its your money to do with as you will. Well that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s it. 17. Welcome to my guide looking at the humble yak as a source of crafting experience for the low to mid level crafter. Ok so they may be big, slow and smelly but the yak is a great source of raw materials for the crafter and can also serve to assist training other skills. To be able to make the best use of this guide you must have got up to the point in the Fremminic Isles quest to be able to make the armour. The Tip It guide can be referred to here Fremminic Ilses quest guide You do not need to have completed the quest. In order to have started the quest you would need to have the following levels: 20 Construction 40 Agility 46 Crafting 56 Woodcutting If you have not, I suggest you stop reading this guide immediately and get back to working on your skills. Now if you have started / completed the Fremminic Isles quests you should know where everything is. However as people like to have pictures in their guides lets throw in a few. Yaks can be found on the island of Neitiznot. To get there speak to Maria Gunnars in Rellaka and ask her to ferry you over. She can be found to the north end of Rellaka on the only pier that runs east / west. (If you were mean spirited worry not, once you refund her the tax she had to pay she will give you access to her shop). Simply talk to her and you will find she stocks unlimited quantities of yak hide, hair and meat. Vanligga Gastfrihet can be found in Jatizso. To get there speak to Mord Gunnars in Rellaka and ask him to ferry you over. This gives you a 2 to 1 ratio of experience to gp. However I would admit that this is a slow way of gaining experience when you get to higher levels. (It took me 3 evenings ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ I tend to play for about 3 to 4 hours a night). At a lower level ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ say if you have 46 crafting and want to get to level 63 and green dragonhide bodies it would take you 9,395 Yak-hide legs, less if you were making ropes and shields too. For those with excessive quantities of gp, yak hides currently get sold by players at 300gp each. I would suggest you consider alternative methods of gaining your crafting experience ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ but its your money to do with as you will. Well that̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s it. 19. Very nice guide. :wall: Well written, informative and all the details laid out clearly. Your results matched the exp I and some others were getting (we were looking at experience gained by different levels) Unfortunately it looks like Jagex may have decided this was too much of a good thing experience wise. Recent results have been giving lower exp per trip due to greater quantities of elemental runes. It is still a great method for getting experience, just not as good as it was for the first few days.
  20. No i was talking about the maximum number of coal ores you can put in. It used to be you could deposit 224 lumps of coal - that works out as 2 full inventories of rune. The maximum now is 214. It still seems to use the same number of coal per ore that requires it (though I do not have the smithing lvl to be able to check rune).
  21. It seems the nomber of coal ores you can put in the furnace has been reduced. I even tried adding them one at a time but still got the message saying that I should remove ores before adding more. I will try and get an accurate number tonight - unless some other player manages to do it before me. :D
  22. Of all the skills I would say that the Rune Crafting cape commands the greatest respect from me. Even if you buy the Essence and have runners, there is still a lot of work involved in gaining the necessary experience points. After this I would rank Woodcutting, Fishing, Mining, Agility and Hunter. For all of these you have to do pretty much all the work yourself, although you can get more experience ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹Ãâper click̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ than you can with Rune Crafting. Next would come the combat skills and Slayer, again skills where you have to do the work yourself, but there is a lot you can buy to make it easier to gain the experience quickly. Bottom on my list would be the skills you could pretty much buy your cape in. Don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t get me wrong, to achieve a 99 is still a lot of Kudos, but if all you have done is buy raw materials and spend hours / days / weeks in the same spot repeating a task again and again in order to get a cape ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ the accomplishment is pretty low. All it goes to prove is that you had the cash and the patience.
  23. Simple tip: Get your defence as high as possible. (So there are better choices of barrows armour than Guthans) In order to reduce your stats - they have to hit you! A couple of rings of recoil are good as it means when they hit you, they take damage. As there no time between one knight dying and the next spawning, if using a superset I suggest taking the sip of super defence first. When you do get hit, take a sip of normal restore. It is only your melee stats that are affected and you cannot use prayer. (Note - there is a mistake in the guide - super restores do not heal, unless you are using a barbarian 2 dose mix with caviar!) I managed ity fine in full rune, Neitiznot helm, rune boots, barrows gloves, glory, ring of recoil and a whip. In my inventory I had a DDP++, a 4 dose super set, a spare recoil, 4 normal 4 dose restore pots and the rest Tuna & Sweetcorn potatoes. I still had 1 full restore pot and 5 potatoes left at the end. Also if you die - you do not lose anything - you just reappear outside the door with all your stats back to full. (So if you want to go in and try it out a few different times, without wasting food or pots, you can).
  24. You can turn into a monkey on any patch of land that is deemed to be Ardy Zoo - the grass outside the bank by the market qualifies. You can move around and talk, but if you move out of the area you will turn back to normal. There used to be a glitch to do with carrying and wearing certain things that allowed you to move away from the area - this has been fixed
  25. Be aware when using a cannon here. If you do not get it out of your inventory and set up and happen to die - it will be affected by the 3 item rule. So if the parts are worth less than 3 other items you are wearing - they will be lost and you will have to buy them again
