My parents won't let me..
Lol if people didn't try to stick their 2 cents in to how I should raise my kids, I wouldn't have anything else to say on this topic :P I don't mind whether you get it or not, you're not my child and I like face piercings, tattoos and the sort. Hell, I ride motorbikes lol I just gave my opinion and obviously at the end of the day it is a decision that you and your own parents need to discuss. If you do decide to get one, I'd even like to know what it looks like.

My parents won't let me..
So because some parents don't want their children to get facial piercings before they leave home, they're completely controlling their child's life? I think you are the only person massively over exaggerating love. You are so preaching to the wrong person, I dedicated years of my life studying human behaviour and you couldn't be anymore far off the target. I also don't recall people joining a family forum to be preached to about how they should be raising their children. The most annoying thing in the world would have to be one parent pushing their beliefs of raising children on to another parent. It doesn't fly with me, so best move on. You stay an expert on how to raise your child and I'll stick to mine thank you very much. I'm a great mother, if I wanted your opinion or advice, I'd ask for it :D I think you should take some of your own advice, I believe you said it to RebDragon "Insults just make you look like you can't debate properly." Although you are not directly calling me names you are indirectly insulting my way of raising my children. There is a large difference between commenting, discussing, giving advice to those who ask and butting in to how others raise their own family's.

My parents won't let me..
Of course, it depends what you want to do for a living. That's like telling somebody who wants to be a body piercer or a tattoo artist that they can't get a piercing or a tattoo because it will ruin their job prospects lol If you were going for something more professional (and I use the term loosely/stereotypically because any job can be classified as professional) then it's best not to. Although once again, at age 16 the chances of knowing what you want to do with your life are pretty slim. Some people have a fair idea but that doesn't mean they will follow through with it. I wanted to be a psychologist, I went to university and for what? I got bored of it (It's not rocket science, it's like playing a game of chess, you take a probe, go closer to the king, the other then defends themselves with their move, take another probe, see if you can get closer until it's unguarded) and went in to retail/network marketing where I found I could make a lot more money in practically 1/4 of the time without putting up with people's crap. My brother as an example is studying to be a bar manager. I don't really see the point in my dad not wanting him to get a tattoo on his arm, he's going to be working in a bar lol And I didn't really see the point in my partner's parents telling him he can't have a motorbike or a discrete tattoo on his back that has dear meaning to him when he was almost 21 years of age lol There is a difference between being reasonable and being a control freak.

Today...
Yeah I'm having one of those days too at the moment. I will do my work out session later on this evening but it's pretty much been a day where the dishes are still in the sink, sitting around in your undies and find yourself asking why the hell they put bald and the beautiful on this time of day :wall: Ban it from television already!

My parents won't let me..
Giving my son the choice to screw up his job opportunities before the age of 18 (when work experience is the most critical) isn't appealing to me. By the way, who said they wanted complete control over their child's life? That's a little far fetched. I don't think anyone here is claiming to want complete control over their child's life. Perhaps you're projecting something from your own teenage experience?

My parents won't let me..
If you put food on your family's table by working at Gamestop, then that's great ;) In most cases, probably true. But some Runescapers have fashion experience and knowledge. Regardless of their combat level (133 here... I think can't remember lol) That's fine and dandy but what if you're working Mon-Fri and have 8 hour shifts? It's a health hazard in some places and in others it means your piercing is going to close up. Not all piercings close up but friends of mine with facial piercings and tongue piercings have told me from their experiences that they close up easily. Yeah you could find a job in Gamestop or something but once again, is it really enough of an income to give you the kind of lifestyle you want to live? If the answer is yes then hey that's good too. Sometimes less is more. I'm on the same line of thinking as Barihawk. So long as I'm paying the rent/food etc I won't allow it. At 16 years of age it might seem like a really cool and trendy idea, maybe you even just want to express yourself. I haven't got a problem with the piercing I think whatever floats your boat but my job as the mum isn't to be my son's best friend it's to give him guidance. And I'd hate to think that doing something at 16 years of age might ruin his career prospects and he may regret it when he's 18. Hell, I wanted a nose ring when I was 16 years of age, it was the fashion back then! Every girl was doing it. But now when I think back on it, I'm so glad that my parents wouldn't allow it.

Guy/girl for a day?
Different circumstances :D For example, maybe the poor girl is sad, lonely and has no friends in high school. Opinions are more likely to mean something to her compared to somebody who is confident about their looks and already has someone who thinks they're beautiful and tells them every day. Age is a factor too. When you're younger you're more likely to care what other people think. As you get older, find a partner etc you tend to care less what other people think and start to concentrate on your own family, as you become aware that their opinion, is really the only that seems to matter. It could mean the world to one person but the only time it means anything to me is when it comes from the love of my life, every morning. For that reason alone, it means nothing to me but could definitely mean something to somebody else. And of course, the minor point of projecting it back on to the author of the response to help them realize personal attacks aren't nice (we both know that one well  ). Oh and that I don't put up with [cabbage] ;)

Baby Thrown on Ground & Killed
As a whole, it does come down to self control. Some people have it and others don't. It does get to me that people who can't handle stress very well even consider these sorts of jobs. It requires someone very special to put up with screaming kids 24/7. Whether it be a brother, a mother or a child care worker. Or even if people don't handle stress very well, how they handle that stress is critical. That's the difference between leaving the room for 5 minutes, taking some deep breaths and giving a child 1st/2nd story injuries. It would be interesting to know what was running through her mind when she did it. The media doesn't really go in to depth and it annoys me lol I like to hear the full story.

Breaking vows
Oh okay well yeah I promised myself I wouldn't eat junk food during pregnancy. Cravings override logic. Milo became an official food group. I vowed I would breastfeed my son. Until I found out he had a severe lactose intolerance. I vowed I would keep studying until PhD level, but that went out the window. F*ck being poor and listening to everybody's problems 24/7. At first I thought it was intriguing but then when you meet people whose problems are so obvious it could hit them in the face like a brick wall and they won't admit it, it's just not worth it. And the salary attached to it isn't worth putting up with it. There should just be a law where people get to smack you in the face with a frying pan if you're in complete denial.

Breaking vows
So many ways to interpret your thread. Care to give us a few examples?

Baby Thrown on Ground & Killed
Being related to them and giving birth to them and being connected on a completely different level, is different. Something nothing but a mother will ever experience. But since we're referring to someone who wasn't connected to them in that way, it does come down to self control. But if you read my post you would understand I was explaining to people why it happens, not justifying why it happened. So your comment wasn't worth mentioning after quoting me. It would be more relevant as a single response to the situation in general.

The Inauguration of Barrack Obama: So Annoying
Rofl Hi Nom, how's the weather? :P Naw... I just think it's overly ironic how these people are "over" the inauguration of Barrack Obama and how "annoying" it is hearing about it. Yet they are contributing to the critical masses of people talking about it, 110% more.

Which is better: Circle or Square?
I like squares better. If you stand it up on one of it's points, it looks like a diamond. Can't beat diamonds, a girl's best friend!

The Inauguration of Barrack Obama: So Annoying
Wow 9 pages already? He's the president now, get over it. Jeez people, do you honestly think your bickering is going to change anything? Try investing your energy in to something that hasn't already happened.

My parents won't let me..
Their house, their rules. You don't get to talk them in to letting you. So long as you're living under their roof they do get to decide whether you get your nose pierced or a tattoo. I like piercings and tattoos but keep in mind if you can't keep them to workplace regulations and in discrete places, you're never going to get a good job. Especially not in hospitality, it's a health hazard. So what do you do? Unfortunately get over it and wait until you have your own place to live in. THEN, if you want to ruin your employment opportunities, by all means please do.

The Inauguration of Barrack Obama: So Annoying
What he represents is different to many individuals :D Although, I agree it is a huge step forward for black people.

Best thing about tip.it?
90+% of communication is non verbal so misunderstandings are going to be a huge part of forums and the internet in general.

The Inauguration of Barrack Obama: So Annoying
No. It sinks in to people who read it as the first black president. Even though people continually concentrate on his skin colour, doesn't mean there aren't people reading the article, capable of thinking critically. This debate as an example has probably changed opinions. And if Obama was not president, then would you have changed that person's opinion today? Probably not. Would people be thinking critically? Probably but most likely, not as many. However you choose to view it, humanities are changing and it is a big deal. Instead of being anti whatever (by complaining about it) why don't you choose to view it as being pro equal. That change begins silently within yourself. A critical mass of invisible numbers. Not being on here, contributing to debates lol If people choose to view it the way you are arguing against, that doesn't change the fact that people all over the world are thinking critically and making a change within themselves and teaching their generations. That's how every main concept developed... By critical mass.

An unanswerable question
It is my opinion through studying physics/philosophies and all that Jazz that if you took one of the dimensions away, time is simply an illusion, nothing more than a human perception.
-
The Inauguration of Barrack Obama: So Annoying
Which is our problem. We're still looking at his skin color! By referring to him as our first black president it isn't an advancement in civil rights it's leaving it just the same! When you look past the skin color we're all the same. What is your point Riku? If we're all the same then It's about time that message spread globally and sunk in. If that the case, he is STILL making a difference in humanities. So, there should be no problem at all. Plenty of cups to go 'round!

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
You have an intelligent girl, who you could be fantastic friends with. You can run away and feel sorry for yourself with the "poor me" syndrome you're pulling. Or get over yourself, talk to her and at least make a friend with someone whose head is where it should be. Deal with your own insecurities and stop projecting them on to other people. If you think you're not attractive then deal with that issue, don't try to pin it on someone else.

Baby Thrown on Ground & Killed
That is a shame to such a precious little life, hope the angels are looking after him. It was completely the wrong thing to do but looking at things from her prospective (to help people understand why things like this happen) some people will never know how frustrating a screaming baby can be. It can crawl under your skin and upset the calmest of calmest people. Unless you've been with a screaming child 24 hours a day, you will never know what it's like. Thinking about how it is and actually being there are completely different. I have the softest of hearts and still could only handle so much before I had to palm my son off for 10 minutes peace and quiet to keep my sanity in tact. There seems to be an underlying issue with the child care worker and I'm willing to place my bets on anxiety/inability to cope well in stressful situations. There is an extremely high percentage of women who work in childcare who have been through childhood abuse or trauma. It is for these reasons that although, they can be some of the most caring people around, they should not be allowed to work with children. I would like to see a psych exam before anyone works with children. Even people with serious mental health issues could not be medicated nor diagnosed by a medical professional upon employment and it's not safe. I do think she is remorseful and probably in shock at her actions but let it be a lesson to those who have suffered, as admirable as your help can be, to step away from those sorts of professions. The impact of the wounds (1-2 story drop injuries) suggests trauma in the carer. Once again, I am not defending her actions, I think they are appalling. I'm merely choosing not to be emotional about the topic and give the chance for people to look further in to what makes people behave like this. Bless his little cotton socks :(
