Soo.. What was she like?

Yeah I know it was supposed to be philosophical but thought I would probe anyway. You just never know these days. Why weird? I'm probably one of the moodiest people here. I can call you a piece of dog turd one day when you're annoying me then the next day give you a hand with something you need. Some days I let people get to me and other days I can laugh in their face. I'm only human : Although I am getting the hang of this whole, "it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks other than my fiance and my son" phase. And I've been a lot happier because of it.

How do you deal with grief? By doing what you're doing now. Talking about it. If anybody tries to tell you to be quiet or says it's not really worth mentioning, ignore them. They aren't the people you need to be listening to. You wrote the article so you obviously want someone to talk to about it, or for someone to listen. Being angry is normal, guilt is also normal. Actually while experiencing grief, all sorts of feelings are normal to go through. Blame is even normal. The most important thing we can do for you right now is to let you express yourself the way you need to and encourage you to talk about your feelings. Be careful though because a forum isn't the best place to do it. Some people are going to say some pretty screwed up things that aren't called for. If you want someone to talk to or to even listen to you, feel free to message me or to ask for my MSN. I don't mind listening to stories of what you and your grandma used to get up to or the things you remember her by. This is all I needed to help me through my own grief of losing a loved one. Finding someone who would let me talk to them about the things I remembered them for and telling me it was okay to talk about them. Obviously not everybody deals with grief by talking about it, there are people who don't like talking and are very secretive. However, I'm pretty certain that this is what you're looking for, by reading your very descriptive post. A person doesn't write descriptively about something they're not passionate about and want to talk about. You may find that many people are too scared to listen to you, once they hear you are dealing with a lost loved one, they will change the subject, try to steer you to positivity, or ignore it completely. So I'm offering you an ear and some time.

Sticky notes!! All of my psych books are covered in about 3-8 sticky notes on one page. Basically instead of taking 10 minutes to read the same page again, it highlights all the main points and things that are actually relevant. Yeah I could just use my computer but when the lecturer was referring to something that was confusing me, find the page in 2 seconds flat via sticky notes and try to comprehend it. I also used Brent as my guinea pig. Psychotherapy pracs and what not. He was also my test dummy for first aid  When writing assignments and being stuck for words, I asked myself "what am I really trying to say here" and just wrote it in very simple English in words that I could understand. Then when it was finished, I'd go over and make it sound academic. Then I would print that out, go through it, see if I could make it sound even more academic, print that out, get people to proof read it, pick at it some more, give it to a tutor to pick at some more, then hand in a final. I also knew a few friends with PhD's in the same subject so that helped more than anything. I was working in the universities local coffee shop, so when they all lined up for their coffees they would mentor me, ask me questions and quiz me while I was at work lol Also handy when they gave me heads up about research participation. Quiz your friends. My group of friends would spend our breaks in between lectures quizzing one another. For example "pavlov's theory!"... then the person being quizzed should give their understanding.. "Pavlov's theory consists of conditioned reflexes, by using his own dog he demonstrated this. When an unconditioned stimulus was presented by the dog (salivating at the meat) he noticed he could then make the dog demonstrate a conditioned reflex (the sound of the bell alone).... blah blah blah" When you re-read your work. Ask yourself... am I babbling? How can I get my point across in as simple English as possible. Can I say the same thing with shorter sentences? Be specific. Don't assume your readers know what you're talking about. Be as specific as possible. "That" might need to be referred to as the name of the object "This" well what is "this?". "He" Who is he? Reference everything that is required and be critical. If you state a fact, where did you get it from? Who says? Why do they say it? Is there any conflicting evidence? Why did it work? What are it's strengths and limitations? Ethnic groups? Religion? sex? etc How recent is your evidence? Are other writings from this author reliable?? Is this really the LATEST research??

She knew. She's not an idiot, at least from what you've told us she sounds like a decent girl. It's the attention factor. He makes her feel good about herself, so she doesn't mind having him around. Then when he tries to make his move, all of a sudden she'll shrug him off like last years fashion. Brent did that all the time to me, it annoyed the crap out of me. I was like how the hell can you be so blind by seeing that they're trying to flirt with you and be more than just friends. Later he admitted he did it for selfish reasons but never wanted anything else. He's since grown out of it.

I sit with my tippy toes touching the floor, I can't sit with my feet flat on the ground for some reason. And I also tap my left foot like it's got it's own case of ADHD.

Oh crap sorry mate I thought "Aspies" was some kind of kiwi slang for a group of people living in a certain suburb LOL I studied psych too so kind of embarrassing that you wrote symptom stories and it still didn't click. I know lots of people with aspergers, my partner for one. "You know you have aspies when you can talk about the same subject every day with your partner and will probably for the next 50 years" "You know you have aspies when your fiance has to ask you to hold her hand instead of twirling objects between your thumb and forefinger" "You know you have aspies when you hum the star wars theme song to your son every night he goes to bed" "You know you have aspies when you plan out what you're having for dinner, at breakfast time" "You know you have aspies when you can't eat something different to what your partner is eating" "You know you have aspies when you get upset if things aren't done exactly like you planned them" "You know you have aspies when you're pissed at your fiance for not giving notice on split second plans" "You know you have aspies when you name all of your son's toys with the first letter of what it is. For example we have Dennis the dragon, Theodore the teddy bear, Buggles the bug" <3 I mean it with love 8-)

Could you imagine if you had dinner around 5? What would you take to school??

Wouldn't surprise me at all, it's all over the press. If they just looked at psychological studies, they wouldn't even have to experiment :wall:

Something I've found is that many people are too scared to broaden their hobbies. For example, my prime interests are psychology, poetry, photography, art and nature. I was so indulged in so limited subjects (although quite knowledgeable in those specific subjects) that I was missing out on great opportunities and limiting myself to a minimal learning curve. Try something else! It would be a shame if you walked through life only learning about the things that are your main interests. You might also enjoy it once you've tried it! Broaden your knowledge, don't limit it or you'll probably regret it.

Perhaps. I've had my fair share of things lately. According to my parents aswell as my psycho-therapeutist, yes. And a Haha to the mix inbetween Hippy, bored and lonely. Nothing beats being a hippy  . Expect a lot more threads from me, lately I've been in the mood to start up new topics and see how the discussion goes. Thanks for all your posts people. It's normal  just some people talk about it and others try to avoid it like the plague. I get depressed too I just don't post about it. I talk about it with someone I care about. If you can't get to sleep, you start to over think things, not enjoying things in life that you normally enjoy then chances are you probably just need to talk about it with someone. Holding it in is what does the damage. Although coming here was a bit of an odd choice to get it out, I'm glad you did. And I hope you're feeling better :)

By the way if they want their students to perform better then that just comes down to better parenting.

I disagree with 4 day weeks. You're at school to learn, not to go as little as possible. Sure extra 50 minutes a day but did you know if you cram too much in to one day your school's grades will go down? This will be destructive to your school's reputation and fewer parents will take their kids to a school where the average GPA is crap. The only time I agree with an extra day off is at the end of the week to use for STUDY if you're in year 12. Although when I was in school, they made study break periods where you could use it or lose it. By the way if you're adding the extra hours on to class every day, it won't save the energy bill at all. After all, you'd only be substituting the exact same hours for the day you're taking away. Honestly, if teachers want their students to learn more then they should be reconstructing their daily teaching programs. I for one, know just how much time was wasted by teachers, teaching useless crap that would never help 95% of their students get a job. Even in university, the amount of lectures that I didn't even bother to turn up to because it just required common sense. People are taught that if you go to school, get good grades, go to university, get a degree, get a good job that they'll live a happy and wealthy life. Let me tell you, I made the most amount of money by ignoring what I learnt in school. I don't think it took rocket science to create "google" in a teenager's back garage either. Multi billionaires as a result. I didn't learn how to become self employed by obtaining a high op in year 12 and then going to study psychology. It doesn't even require much of an IQ to create an on going passive income. If you've read Cash Flow Quadrant by Robert Kiyosaki, it'll tell you pretty much all you need to know about money and how to make it. Although within saying all of this, some people just enjoy learning, which is also good. By the way doom, last time I checked a student's education and grades were more important than being energy sufficient or the cost of petrol/bus fares.

Thanks, I mentioned this in another area so I will just quickly mention it here as well... Anyone from tip.it will be able to hire for free. My gift to my friends. You will still need to pay the deposit but should you return it, and no major dry cleaning stains, you'll get every cent of it back. We have so many ideas... For example we're going to make our own myspace and facebook page and invite all the young people from our area and have advertising on the main page, selection and range on another then photos that people have contributed to the business from their night out. So it will be full of 100's of photos eventually. And as you've guessed it, business will spread because friends will recommend friends, who will recommend friends, who will recommend friends etc which will have all our location details etc on the main page which = more business and more customers. We're also going to have a giant pin up board in the shop where I will make a collarge of people's parties. So people can come in and have a look, feel a part of the shop or tell their friends where to look when they come in. And of course the person who names my shop will have their own little plaque of appreciation hanging in there. My model friends from a local agency have also volunteered to wear my costumes and jewellery when we open the store with a big sausage sizzle and greet people etc I'm still trying to con slick Rick in to wearing one of the pimp outfits.

I have a fake email account that I signed up to over 100 survey sites, only 2 I considered legit. So odds aren't in your favour but I wouldn't throw in the towel unless you think it's worthless. There would have been 3 but when I got up to $60.00 and asked them to post my cheque to me, it never came and nobody will answer my emails.

What brand of TV is your most used? Sharp How many TV's do you have in your home? 2 What kind of TV is your most used? Normal old school tv (refuse to buy flatscreen or lcd until we move out of this area, too many robberies) Who is your provider? Free to air, no access to cable in my area What kind of TV do you watch the most? I barely ever watch tv. I watch deal or no deal, big brother when it's on, dr phil in the afternoons and sometimes a movie if there's one on.

Lent - It's a costume hire shop only not crappy ones. They're all sexy costumes. The nearest costume hire shop is about half an hours drive away and it's full of old, smelly, tatty crap. The closest DECENT shop is in Brisbane city, an hour away. And I've lost count how many of my female friends had to get something "nice looking" from the adult shop which cost them an arm and a leg. My area is also the youngest area in Brisbane. Which means the most house parties etc so it fits exactly what my suburb and surrounding suburbs are looking for and will get most of the business in our area. Just the other month my friend Monica had her 21st which was a dress up party. Right there and then, I reckon I could have hired out at least 30 costumes that I owned. Making something like $1500 profit, in a single day. Once again for my friend Stacey's party, then once again for my brothers girlfriend's party. I also have a whole heap of model friends and am friends of local club managers. So I can hire them out for modeling competitions and also club dress up nights. I also have my own jewellery business that I haven't done anything with for a while, so will set up a glass display case and sell that too. Then on weekends when I'm not working and someone else is running the shop, I go to people's houses and do jewellery parties. Which I have never earned anything under $60 for an hours work. So it's basically a license to print money in my area.

Neco, are you feeling depressed?
