  1. Interesting I had yet to see a trade good for someone I had not unlocked and im ~10% till the bowl. Also just broke my streak of 9 days with no randoms >.<
  2. I got a regular mission for a chi globe in the cherry wood region last night. I found this interesting as I only have fishing herblore and prayer past 90.
  3. No one has thought to ask the percentage your sending things out at. Since using the pop calculator on tip.it I very rarely send out a boat at less then 90% without rerolling any missions. For stats like that you'd have to be sending out ships with ~20% success.
  4. i think the avg zeals/hrs is 7, so about 6.3k hrs. mb maybe it was 3 years for the whole preparation, vinesweeper and agility arena included. No, 3 years for everything isn't possible short of 18 hours/day average and possibly not even then either depending on how much time the remainder requires. 3 years gameplay. Ie 1095 days played. Not 3 years elapsed.

  6. Why is that even relevant. In all my runespanning I've never had shortages when I return after leaving. Seems like common sense says trade 45 hours for something that has zero value.

  8. Barrows items degrade to 0 after 15 hours of combat, at which the repair cost for a set is So divide your Bandos cost by whatever you're paying for Barrows repair, and there's your answer. I used to think like this but I realized it isn't nessisarily a good way to view it. What your doing is calculating how many times you need to repair to equal the cost of bandos. The difference is Bandos has a capital cost while barrows has an operation cost, a simple business concept shows that the point at which you choose on or the other is based on the change in the value of the captlital cost assuming some resale value versus the operating expenditures. Basically say you pay 15m for a full set of bandos or you can buy a barrows set of equal amount of parts for 1m. Your repair costs for barrows are an assumed value of 400k every 15 hours of combat. You plan to do slayer for the next month contributing 75 hours of combat. Now you buy bandos for 15m an you tie up 15m and have 0gp left, in one month that has the ability to go up in value stay the same or go down in value. This comes down to an assumption of market value. At the end of the month you sell the set for 15m you have 15m left over. Your other option is you spend the initial 1m on barrows an you still have 14m to spend on other things as needed. In the 15 hours your going to repair 5 times assuming no deaths. This has a value of 2m. Every additional death in which you don't keep the armour costs an additional repair. At the end of the month assuming your gear hasn't fallen in value you sell it for 1m you now have 13m at the end of the month. So if you think bandos will not fall more then 2m in that month bandos is "cheaper" then barrows. You even have the possibility of making money on it. If you want to go even further you can look at the opportunity value of that money had you bought barrows, ie you use that 14m for investing and earn a return of 2% per day. Doing that you'd have ~25.36m+/-.5m. So think on that. :)

  10. The more I think about it more I realize the problem with RS is its not a combat game, and yet so much is focused around it that it needs desperate help. The largest problem is the fact that it can take millions of any one action to get to 99 in a single skill while the population doesn't need millions let alone billions of these items. If RS could adopt a system that is similar to guildwars: Noob monster drops 1 fractite blob Takes 5 fractite blobs to make a semi fractite blob takes 5 semi fractite blobs to make 1 full blob medium monester rarely drops full blobs occasionally drops 2 fractite blobs takes 5 blobs to make a partial widget etc So that what you make at the lower end builds up to the higher end, without a system like this you introduce massive amounts of items that will go unused causing massive deflation in the value of everything.
  11. There is no reason you can't find a balance. In wow it isn't uncommon to find one or two slots with bsi pieces from skilling.

  13. Nex is only "End game" because something better hasn't been released. As new things come out you will see a new progression of end game. The main distinction between RS and other games that focus on an end game model is that RS released the stats with a cap that was never going to grow. You got to the end and thats it. Something like wow, where they release progressively harder contet for a while then go and release a new set of levels resets the system on a regular interval. With Rs you can't do that, or skills become meaningless as you finish them off and unlocking new stuff can only be done through things like quests because they don't want to, nor should they, increase the level cap.

  15. That doesn't help the basic problem, everyone will min/max until they get the best setup. We can already choose an offensive setup (2 hand) or a defensive (shield). Any offensive boosts through smithing would be attached to a 2 hander and defensive boosts to 1 handers. You missed 90% of what I said. Your talking the old model where everyone just brute forced the system for max offence. Why can't they build a system where x boss (bandos for example) is a zerker style where he pumps out massive dmg if you don't take defensive gear and another boss ie Sara that has huge defence so you need hit chance and zammy has a weakness to critical hits or something where you can grab something else. Open you mind up a bit and realize you don't need a system where brute forcing everything is the best way to do stuff. "Hurr me foot ball player me smush everything!!!!! Rawr" Why not have something like arma be a tactical boss and you need agility and movement to survive like Sara used to be.
  16. Exactly. Anyone who thinks that level 70 gear sitting at a gwd boss for 1k kc solo was balanced needs a reality check. If there is one thing I learned over the years playing wow if they want all of the "choice" they are playing up they need to go back to Mage melee range weaknesses and have 3 or 4 different weapons of each type. Ie: z spear that has crit bonus. Guthix spear that has a def and offence bonus Sara spear that has defensive bonus bandos spear that has offensive bonus. And you need that balance on gear too. There is a reason wow has a massive theory crafting group and the thing is a certain set might come out as the absolute best but with choices across the board you learn to balance your gear around what you have already and not bank on just saving gp for the pre determined bsi. I see no reason that a person should be able to go for a defensive build to last longer or an offensive build to be better in groups. There is so much they could do to actually add flavour to the game in terms of armour choices. All of this could be done as a rework to smithing/mining etc in which maybe you add certain emblems or widgets to your stuff to Aline it with certain aspects of gods. In a similar way to the gem system of wow. Even if the "best gear" is mathed out it might be you get different "best gear" for another boss. The use of emblems or widgets would let joe134 use strength gems while ben348 can use hit gems to balance things out. Maybe jerry987 wants some of each to get a little of both. That sort of customization is whats lacking in the combat aspect of runescape. It would increase demand for gear and add value tithe market again. When I get home from work maybe I'll finally write out my idea for skill reworks and better elaborate on this.

  21. Notice that it doesn't seem to care about solidarity or there is something that doesn't quite work right, I shifted some of my crew around and got over 7% higher success rate. Let me know if you need more explination.
  22. Have to admit the model sure have come a long way since I started playing. Looks great!
