The Offical TIF American Elections thread
Wow. The popular's like that too. With almost 40m votes, only about 400k votes separates them.

Can you answer this question?
Few forces are stronger than a man trying to find porn. About proxies, I know there's a site that creates a new one every couple days/week, I can't think of the name though. And if time is the only factor limiting your home computer use, you could try accessing it remotely. That's what my friends and I did all last year with logmein.com. Our school didn't figure it out 'til the end of the year. :

Can you answer this question?
Should of said 'that aren't blocked from school' Are you just gonna put content on it that's on websites that the school has blocked? Just use a proxy.

A Football
Ah yes, breaking and entering. Always a classic. TBH, if you've already asked 4 times and he hasn't given you the ball back, I don't think you're getting it back. Really the only advice I have is to mess up his garden and buy a new ball, but that's just me.

Obama's Grandmother Died.
You're right, the college's votes are the only ones that actually elect the president, but they have always voted the way their state has. Exactly, they really have no choice. Each state is worth a certain amount of electoral votes (I think based on population, but I could be wrong) and if a candidate wins in a state, he/she gets those electoral votes. IF 8th grade history is to be believed. They actually do have a choice. There's nothing in the Constitution (and I don't think any laws) that forbids them from voting for another nominee, but no Electors have voted against their states. And you're right, the number of electoral votes a state has is based on population. [/hide] There has actually been a case or two when the electors went a different way, I believe. Having to do with their personal moral opinions and all. People really don't understand the electoral college. At this point it is rather obsolete, but that does not make the principle on which it was created unsound. But there is always that little hitch where a candidate can win the popular vote but not the college vote. Which has happened a few times as well. Heh, you're right. I was only going on my memory and I guess it wasn't as accurate as I thought. It kind of surprises me that there wasn't a push to reform it when it first happened; seems like people would get worried if they realized that electors didn't have to carry their state's vote.

Obama's Grandmother Died.
Why was Obama's aunt who's living in the US illegally news? Why was Palin's $150,000 spent on clothing news? I agree with you. I think the media needs to stop reporting stuff that is completely unnecessary. Unless they found that Obama had helped his aunt sneak into the country, they should've abandoned the story. Most 'news' that's reported is pure [cabbage] and I'm tired of it.

Obama's Grandmother Died.
At the risk of sounding insensitive, why is this news? Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for Obama and his family, but I don't understand why the death of an 86 yr old with cancer warrants an article. I'm sure there are more pressing matters to report on.

Consequences From Tonsil Removal
Yeah, i've been using the laptop and typing into notepad if i want something, i don't talk often but it's kinda hard when you have visitors over. Thanks for the answers You could use Microsoft Sam. I really don't have any useful advice, though; never had my tonsils out or known anyone who did.

What would you name your first child?
My neighbors had 3 kids. One's name was Skye, the other Walker, and if the third was a boy they would name it Luke. It was a girl, though. But they still didn't get off easy, since their full names were stuff like "Big Blue Skye more and more and more names". Must have been some cultural thing. Or maybe they really, really hated them and wanted to see them beat up.

Chat Rooms
I remember when I was like 10, my family got a free trial for AOL Online and I went into some sort of sex chat room and just spammed "I'M HORNY!!!" I think it was just for s&g, but thinking about it now, it must've been pretty weird to see "The Smith Family: I'M HORNY!!!" Edit: Mirage, I have seen a lot of places filled with bots, but I've yet to see them carry on independent convos or cyber with each other.

What do you look for in a boy/girl?
Long hair, a slim/toned body, and preferably taller. Those usually hold pretty steady, but basically it's whatever I think looks good at that moment lol. Intellect/personality under a good looking shell would be nice, but I'd rather be with a good looking douche than an ugly gentlemen. Shallow, I know, but I'm young; I've got time to kill.

Banned Books
To defend Huck, He wasn't ignorant, he was just borned into that society, not knowning right from wrong. Jim was a father figure to Huck too, the River was like, their own place, to set aside their racists society and to be free from any type of hate. The HP thing, thats just another stupid thing that parents just though of. The Harry Potter banning actually has religious roots. When it first came out, many Catholics/Christians wanted it banned because they thought it would create an army of devil worshipers or something. They didn't like that it glorified witchcraft and how Harry could speak to snakes. I think there were other reasons, too, but they escape me atm. They actually ending up creating a lot of publicity for it, though, and I think they played a role in its success. Irony at its finest. :

Bon Fire Night
Ahh Guy Fawkes Night. I'm American so I won't be doing anything except watching V for Vendetta like I have for the past couple years. :

NaNoWriMo '08
That's awesome. I might try doing this then; that'd be sweet to have a real copy of a book I wrote.

NaNoWriMo '08
Never heard of it, tbh, but it sounds kinda interesting. I don't really have the time or energy to churn out a novel that size, but I wish the best of luck to anyone that's trying. : Also, the site was down, but on other forums it said that you don't really compete for prizes or anything. Does the site display everyone's story after? Or the ones they think are the best?

what do you do to make a difference?
I've eliminated the United State's dependency on oil and coal and converted all cars to hydrogen fuel cells. (mostly in theory)
