What Loyalty Rewards Say to Me
Your right about that. Sane developers use micro-transactions and have you purchase DLC's as it much simpler to make money that way. But sane developers do not force anyone into buying DLC, and generally make no more than 4 (as a rule of thumb). Jagex, on the other hand, are employing every trick in the book to coerce people into paying for RS, lest they want to miss out on half of the holiday items available and so on. It's shameful. You aren't forced into buying membership. And even if you were its like 5 dollars, the cheapest subscription cost I've seen in the mmo market. I don't think you realize that these 'tricks' are what keep the price cheap. Complain all you like about their behavior but also recognize 5.95 a month is a good deal for all that we get.

What Loyalty Rewards Say to Me
I don't think that Trevor has any problem with a company making money. But, generally, if you're making games, like Jagex are, then the best and most long-term way to actually do so is to improve the gameplay and experience of the game itself, rather than cramming it full of superficial "items" - the more of these special "items" people acquire, the more they realise they are effecitvely meaningless - and coercing people into paying through silly schemes, rather than making them want to by doing something good with the game. That's why people are annoyed at this atrocity of an update. It's a solid update. It appeals to literally everyone. Except f2p I suppose. The rewards are pretty useful, you might think 3% ranged accuracy is pointless, but I know people in help & advice that would eat you alive for saying that. And these are only the tier 1 rewards.

23-Jun-2011 - Introducing: the Members Loyalty Programme!
It doesn't have to be awesome. Once you cross the line of offering in-game equipment with bonuses, you will get players with their panties in their bunch beginning to rant. The ornate katana was even crossing the line for some, partially me included. If the new equipment slot offers bonuses, some players will be mad. However, since JaGex is offering this to all new and excisting members, I don't see this being much of a problem besides from people who want more than just stat boosting equipment or cosmic outfits and emotions. They probably won't have stats at all - at least not the ones released through the loyalty program - because it looks as if emotes are being offered for the same currency and possibly the same amounts of points, and I should think there's no chance that emotes will boost stats. On the note that I partially brought up above, did they ever say that the aura slot would be used exclusively for this? I'll have to go back and read the newspost I guess. EDIT LOL nevermind they do say it right in the newspost =D> EDIT2: Okay all previous statements retracted! Emotes being the "equals" of auras as far as rewards go would point that everything is cosmetic, but only being able to obtain auras from the loyalty program, I can't think that they would have an equipment slot that has absolutely no bonus-giving items... What they should do (or be doing) is make the auras from the loyalty stuff completely statless and then in the future release other auras through quests and whatnot and give them bonuses compared to necklace slot items. This. Unfortunately, Jagex is money-hungry in addition to being completely [developmentally delayed]ed, so they'll probably release a berserker-ring equivalent aura tomorrow. Actually if you ever played any other mmo's you'd realize by comparison, they are one of the least money hungry.

I'd love to see a hard-mode type deal with quests. Finish the normal set of quests then have an option to redo them in hardmode for increased difficulty/rewards. It would take a ton of work on Jagex's part though.

Vanity Items - RS Prepaid cards and Ornate Katana
I find it disgusting... That rs players will whine about any and everything. I can only assume most of them have no experience with any mmorpg other than runescape. Sorry you've been living under a proverbial mmo rock but this is how this industry operates. Suck it up.

Pking this is what it has become?
That makes me lol^.. hard Welcome back to the thread that failed so hard you had to leave it broski! Now, the guy with the picture said that everyone who doesn't agree with him don't understand, and then went on to assume that we were all skillers then. Bascially just flame with no argument.. a post i would expect from you tbh :-# If you read my post I think you'll find it far less judgmental.

Pking this is what it has become?
K, I tried replying to this neatly but gave up. I'll just list your points in order. 1. Even if they're comfortably outside of KO range, they're still expending their resources and not attacking you. At this point, they should be perma-iced or entangled depending on location. 2. Flash your gear. It takes one tick to switch as many pieces as you can click and it doesn't interrupt. 3. The flail becomes better as enemy def level increases since it ignores defense as well as prayer. Against anything above a mix of rune and dragon, it's arguably more efficient than a whip. As for the PK-based builds that you mentioned, this is why it's a terrible idea to PK until you're max-combat because of Jagex's terrible combat level calculation method 4. Why the hell would anyone Edge PK? Just go to the duel arena for that crap. 5. There is no 5. Derp. You clearly have no knowledge or experience at pking at all, so why are you trying to give pkers advice? Your advice reeks of [cabbage] and theory-crafting. Do us a favor and let the pkers discuss pking. Go back to castle wars or woodcutting, please.

Skillers just don't understand! But really, honor pking died in 2007. Expecting any form of respect nowadays is a waste of time.

I find it pathetic that rs players will complain about anything Jagex does. Some people don't treat rs like a porno addiction and enjoy community events.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9kpTvm6CYA I would hardly call Rach' article whining... It brings up a valid point that I too have spotted more and more in myself, but have yet to see people express; which is the apathy of regular players towards bots on nearly every level one can imagine... At the editorial panel we get to do this... Apply today, because it is the last day possible if you too want to "whine"... Perhaps pouting is the better term for this particular article. It's all the same to me; I've read it and its old. Move on. Nice white knighting by the way, I'm sure 'Rach' is very impressed.- Tip.It Times - 29th May 2011
Soooo a bot sticky was created so boards don't get spammed up with people whining about bots but nobody's going to stop them from writing article after article about them in the times? That's going to get old real quick.- 25-May-2011 Death Hats, Draynor and Upgrades
