  1. Seems like an idiotic knee-jerk reaction to mummy farming. If anything this update just proves that Jagex, more now than ever, has very little understanding of the community and what it wants. It seems like every year they get a little bit worse about that.
  2. Pro Quality Assurance team. Outside of a temple trek Inside of a temple trek
  3. Avatar: the Last Airbender Not that godawful movie M Knight Shymalnlamslknalsnslsansalann came out with, the cartoon it was "based" on. Was it a series of books too or something? I'm starting to feel like my name should come with a disclaimer.
  4. A lot of levels sneaking up on me lately. Also, does anyone know what this was about?
  5. With flipping skills like these, I'll have 99 herb and Prayer in no time.
  6. This hasn't happened to me in a long time. I usually run into players who will go out of their way to make sure they don't take my kills if I'm on a slayer task, I usually return the favor. Maybe I just have better luck finding polite people.
  7. Well this wasn't supposed to happen quite this early. But that's what I get for not paying attention I guess. Yay?
  8. Forgot to remove Fury, and Guthan doesn't exactly line up with the rest, but you get the point. Personally I liked the old ones more, black is a little too slimming.
  9. Don't think so. I haven't anyone in this topic mention it anyway. Makoto already mentioned the Midsummer Special, that took place in July 2010. The main problem with that was you needed a credit card to sign up, and were charged for a month's membership ($5.95US at the time) which you could get back if you cancelled within 7 days. If you didn't, Jagex kept the money and you got the rest of your month of membership. From what I understand, it wasn't very popular. I was clearly being a sarcastic ass.
  10. Don't think so. I haven't seen anyone in this topic mention it anyway.
  11. I'm more inclined to believe that this whole thing would be more for brand new players than existing f2p players. I wouldn't be surprised to see Runescape drop it's word of mouth advertising strategy in favor of actual advertising. As you've mentioned, Runescape as it is doesn't attract new players like it used to. Perhaps they'll finally make the jump into real widespread Runescape ads.
  12. With the recent Troll Invasion update we've seen the introduction of a good many features that could possibly point to a members free trial. Most prominently is the new tutorial that seems to be aimed primarily at players that are brand new to the game. The tutorial goes over content such as fishing, and cooking, skills that a new member would likely already be familiar with. Players are also given an overview of the task system which most free-to-play players should already be entirely familiar with. Another noticeable addition is the added colors to item names, to further differentiate between members, and non-members items. Possibly to make these new players realize just how much content they'll be missing out on if they don't subscribe at the end of their trial. Imagine going through your bank to find that the majority of your items have the pale orange text indicating that they won't be accessible at the end of your trial period, only more incentive to become a full member. For the time being, the colors differentiating free-to-play items from pay-to-play items have almost no use whatsoever, as someone who has gone as far as to subscribe to the game should be well aware of what items are and aren't available to free players. Whereas someone who has never played the game before and is being thrown into their free trial of the full game has no way of knowing which items are and aren't available to them if they don't subscribe. With games like World of Warcraft seeing relative success from their "first 20 levels are free" feature, how likely do you think it is that we'll see a members free trial for new players? How do you feel it would affect the current free to play community?
  13. 100% agreed. All of this members content isn't going to help them get new players; Even people that are opposed to giving updates to F2P acknowledge that players are supposed to start there. That's the one thing that they missed with this update. They release an incredibly comprehensive tutorial that really feels like a part of the game and many tools for low level players to get into the game... But it's only for members. When was the last time a new player jumped straight into members? I hate to join the doomsayer crowd, but it really feels like they're trying to phase out the free game. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a members free trial, akin to World of Warcraft's "first 20 levels are free" thing, within the year. Honestly I don't see much other reason for this tutorial to be aimed at such low level players.
  14. I've lost to Jad something like 15 times now. Still haven't gotten ONE cape. This new minigame seems mucho intimidating. Edit: I've never liked these distinctions between "questers" and "skillers". It always seemed to me that you were meant to do a little bit of everything. Limiting yourself in a game like Runescape just seems idiotic.
  15. @Dax, These are so much easier without the auras. http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/7092/raw7kgtrans.png @Blutters, Made an attempt on yours. The various glows make this one tough. Feel free to request another if you don't feel this one is good enough. http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/8538/2edxg6otransparentish.png
  16. http://www.burningman.com/ This Rs version of it. This isn't what I expected when I asked for more effigies ... [/hide] Has anyone else noticed the Slayer skill icon on that banner? I'm assuming that effigy is going to be used to teach new players about the skill in some way. Given that Buthorpe is where Slayer (theoretically) begins (although, this assumes you are coming into slayer with combat < 20) this is no surprise to me. Nice pickup though, didn't even blink when I saw the flag. [/hide]As can be evidenced by another media picture: [hide] [/hide] Probably a complete rework of Burthorpe to turn it into a hub for beginning players. No idea why they'd pick it, though. EDIT : Notice the clothesline in the picture below? Ta-da! Placement of the river is solved. [hide][/hide] The guy in the bottom right of the second picture looks photoshopped in for some reason. I think it's because the odd angle at which he's laying there.
  17. I'm not getting within 50 feet of that thing after what happened to Nicolas Cage. [hide][/hide]
  18. Looking forward to this. I actually liked the original look of the Tzhaar and their home before the last graphical update. Still interested in getting into the actual city part of Tzhaar that's been closed off to humans all this time.
  19. The first post in this topic actually has a link to your original topic in 2006, or you can look at it here. It's pretty interesting to go back and look at. Apparently most of us hadn't mastered the appropriate use of grammar on the internet yet.
  20. Tif name: The_Avatar Runescape Name: The Avatar Picture: Url: http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/415/tippic2012.png Cheers, and kudos to you for starting this up again.
  21. Really happy to see this return. (Though I thought I had just missed it the past two years.) Will be sure to submit my picture soon, as this is one of my favorite Tip.it traditions.
  22. The fat guy reminds me of the Governor of Phatt Island from Lechuck's Revenge. [hide][/hide]
  23. Aside from the the extremely frustrating start I thought it was a pretty fun quest. The only annoying part being how quickly the fires go out. Good rewards made up for that though.
  24. You only need the outline. Thanks, this was driving me crazy when I was already in a pretty bad mood. (my credit union has apparently been using the wrong billing address for MONTHS)
