  1. It's very late here so i'll be brief. 1-If it was that hot to heat the hammer so much to burn his hands under the gloves then probably he couldn't even stand by the sword himself. Plus if you know any way to make an hammer that's not subject to heating, tell me (even if i'm pretty sure that kind of hammer won't overheat since hammering is different from direct, long contact) and i'll be glad to fix it. 2- You can't tell how close to the fire those strings are. Actualy you can see the furnace colors in the darkness, not the flames, that are buried deeper inside the furnace. However that detail is basicaly estetic. 3- The neck is allright. Smithers are supposed to be muscular, and i personaly go for the "squared body" build, that is short neck. Plus the position of the head tends to cover the neck, not to expose it...exactely the opposit you'r saying. 4- That's plain wrong. Actualy the briks directly by the furnace should have been seen as BLACK due to the high contrast with the flaming light emitter. Moreover that part of the wall isn't and can't be directly lightened by the furnace, but only by the reflections generated from that light source. It's more like an ambiental or global weak lightsource, and i added the fact that the brigh light spot makes the things closer to it look darker. Of course i didn't want a pitch black bg so i went for an intermediate solution. 5-this is probably the only good point in the above post. not 100% happy of that glove myself, still not disappointed either. 6- Hair and beard aren't purple, they'r dark brown and as you should have already understood so far there's a orange/red lightsource (actualy there's 2 of them). This means everything is shaded according to a red light. This means black and dark brown move slightly towards reds and so on. This effect has been reduced compared to a RL furnace cause i didn't want the sig to be all black in the dark spaces and all in orange tones in the highlighted ones. Still i wanted the dual, colored light sources to effect the screen. I'm however glad you gave such in-depth suggestions. I took some time checking all the above points and that might have helped a lot fixing some mayor flaws. Thanks. 1- well there was a reason why they had wooden handles for hammers and metal heads  however i was over reacting with hands burned, but considering the sword must be very hot to reshape it, the handle would atleast get a little hot. 2-ahh forgot that the fires are actually deeper just like in a italian pizza oven, my fault 3-i still think the neck shouldnt be coverd, the head should be a little more to the upper right exposing just the little bit of his neck, it should look like this unless its a hunchback(sp?) or quasimodo(sp?) no offense tho. 4- o i see what you mean now.. on second thought it would btw look pretty weird and maybe even to bright if you did what i said there.. my mistake 5-ok :D 6- i see what you mean but the red you used in it makes it purple id suggest you slide about 5 to the right on the second out of four hsl color bars. (assuming you still use graphics gale) on some of the lighter non red highlight tones. but well both look good it might even be better this way so this is a kind of pointless suggestion.. once again ignore it. -now kind of on second looks i think the thing that appears to be a anvil looks to gradual, a bit more texture in it could help it, as i see you did do some texture on it but i dont think its enough. thank you for realising it took some time finding this since its pretty hard to find flaws in the sig since it is very good, so some might seem a little misplaced c/c. just trying to help. thank you for looking to :D hmm there are less posts then usual because of the split up.. O.o
  2. i dont think you got any negative comments here.. only feedback but i love it allot! only the ripples in the water are not correct considering the way the moose is standing?(just feedback not negative)
  3. ive been looking at it quite a while now to find some things that are either are incorrect in nature or just dont look right. this is what ive found: -his hammer it might catch to much heat the way its made causing him to burn his hand. -the nail with the ammys hanging on it, its to close to the fire once again the nail will catch to much heat causing the strings of the ammy to snap, causing the ammys to fall on the ground and damage. -his neck would show in that perspective unless he has both a very short neck and pulling up his should wich i both doubt, however this would be to much trouble fixing so.. just ignore -wouldnt the wall and stones around the fire shade the other direction since the fire is a very fierce light source? unless your trying to but some burnings on the stones but then the wall would still be off -right glove looks 3D yet the left seems a bit to flat? (shading should be a bit on the right side of the glove  so you can play around with the 3D and still keep it at good light source) - i have never seen a purple beard.. irl.. i think it should be brown/black considering his hair is purple.
  4. Yours and any others I could find have been added to the sticky, look at the bottom. thanks :D thanks oiler :D
  5. ever heard of perspective..? yet his left arm (right for us) is a bit thin against the rest of his body.
  6. grounds are very [cabbage]ty to do.. i like it yet the chair on the left doesnt seem right to me..
  7. love it o.O damn man ! the shading is awesome to! i wonder how it would look if you color your outlines  great job and as for the richest man here... its me 14gp beat that! o and a wooden shield and a bronze woodcutting axe 8) its just a game guys.... doesnt matter who is t3h $
  8. well if that blast is that big.. the fire around it is at that direction.. id expect the cannon to stand still and be behind the crowd dont you think?
  9. http://artpad.art.com/?id7ose70q2k press the save & send button.. read it..
  10. http://artpad.art.com/?id7n0l1jqvlw was a bit random didnt really brainstorm.. just started drawing a human character.. well why the hell not.. B00mp.. better then making a new topic..
  11. the shield is inhumanely big.. ? the cannon is pointing into the wrong direction.. the tree on the left and the tree on the right look as if made by two different people.. :?
  12. or better yet.. use my tutorial.. sorry mate your not good.. maybe you werent serious..
  13. shading has to go true shapes and depth, you'll have to study how basic shapes go with different lightnings. for other shapes i will say look around and just when your looking at a object look at how light interacts with it, thats a pretty fine way to get good shading. - its how i learned moste of shading. btw axe for your burning (your shading method) try using opacitys and layers. different layers for highlights and shading and set them to different opacitys and modes. i think it will definitley improve the. looks more like soft leather now
  14. exactly.. :| the guy who made this doesent really believe the sarcasm of the posters does he? :? i hope he does :| for him that is
  15. you are using a new account to flame correct..? you are stoked correct? only person that comes to my mind on this one. now your punctuation is way different but your view upon pixel is similiar.. no your not stoked.. stoked talks different.. who the hell are you? these "cartoonish sigs" as you refere to them are not bad at all if done right? but style is not something you can twist about so this topic is rather pointless dont you think?
  16. djthemaster play around with your LineWork settings on your scanner program. i use Graphics Gale for coloring. i hope to make a shading tutorial in the future..
  17. i will smelly if i got time.. right now ive got a test tomorow the day after tomor i've got a PTA, then ive got 4 pages report i have to make.. within the next 2 days.. so im busy..
  18. thanks ran, but i think this is the last one.. well i think.. im going to expand this one further and further with new details instead of making a new one thanks neander i remember that i would pm it to you but i forgot  and i dont think it will be sticky'd but if it could be linked in the "image faq for the new artist - by peter" then i would already be a happy man.
  19. love it, doesnt really look like a phoenix tho.. very artistic :D fine logo for Scotch: Fenix Whisky
  20. grath try using reference images, copy a pose of someone from a photograph or something like that draw his stick figure like that. then continue trying adding muscles to it and clothing do this numerous amount of times practice a little shading on it and you will see that your results will get better each time. ran it was for a competition of smellysocks back in the days there were about 14 contestants so it was overused after 1 competition  unfortunately for me it looks to much alike the one Blazer made..
  21. thanks :D tho it all depends on how good you are at freehand in comparison to drawing on the computer not to mention if you have a scanner or not. this was when i still drew on the comp, see the difference in result? not to mention this was long ago.. after a few style changes
  22. theres only one problem.. never save as jpg in paint! png is fine, good tutorial is pretty helpfull.
