Range difference...
Players have known about the +1 to max hit while in accurate mode for a long time now. Although it is strange that Tip It doesn't say anything in their Range guide about it...

Magic schedule part II
Crumble Undead averages about 39 mage exp per cast. Fire bolt averages about 34 Sigh Sorry I never said that I used only Curse on my way to level 80. I should have said "...thousands of times to help reach level 80..." If I used it 10,000 times At 29 exp per cast thats only 290,000 exp. And that is less than 15% of the exp needed for level 80...

Lobbies or trout and salmon
Fly fishing and catching Trout/Salmon is usually considered fast exp.

60 defense without raising HP exp? Ideas?
It takes about 15,000 genie lamps to go from 1 to 99...

~~Need Help! Going from 65 - 80 range~~
The "pull with a Curse" method really makes the whole process clean, neat, and efficient. Plus, if the Curse does stick, you lower the monsters defense by 5% Well, if you pick up an average of 75% of your arrows and if we assume that the formula for max hit for bronze arrows is BronzeMaxHit = floor((Range + 14)/9) (that's 8-10 for 65-80) and if we assume that your long term hit average is half of the max value then I estimate about 20700 bronze arrows needed. I used to bring with me just enough arrows and Curse runes to reach the next range level. That way I knew how many more lessers I had remaining to be killed. After that I would teleport to the bank to drop off loot and refresh my arrow, rune, and (rarely) food supply. I brought arrows, a tiny bit of food, and runes for Cursing, Teleporting, and Hi-alching. IIRC, I got a rune med, roughly, every 700 arrows shot. Hope this helps.

A useless(ful) tip.
I tend to agree with Unitedite. The most straightforward way of implementing a loot table for a monster is to assign probabilities for all the items that the monster can drop. The drop is determined by a random number computed at the time of the monsters death in conjunction with the preassigned probabilities. A ring of wealth would just tell the system to use a slightly different loot table with higher probabilities for the best items (and lower for the rest). The only "do this to get better loot" scheme that I know of that might work is the "take more damage to get better loot" strategy. Even then, if it does work, it's small effect. But only Jagex really knows for sure.

confused about combat lvl
Your combat level is determined by your dominant fighting stat. (and other stuff) In your case, that's Attack and Strength and that makes you a melee type fighter. Use the link that sheepdean provided to see what you can do to change it.

Defense
First, train on "Defense" style Second, the scimmy is a fast weapon and is good to use against enemies weak to a slash attack. That includes many monsters except city guards, black knights, and white knights. Third, Ranging on Long range also gives Def exp (in case you didn't know) Fourth, attack Maging with a Staff can give Def exp (in case you didn't know) Fifth, use a Diamond power ammy to boost your attack accuracy. Finally, you can have the Apothecary in Varrock make you a (F2P) 4 dose strength potion for 5 gold, 1 limpwurt root, and 1 red spider egg(s).

does anyone do free crafting?
The #1 crafter, Ltangel, has had a free service available for years. Look here for details. If she is still doing it, then it's normally every Saturday in Al-Kharid world 6 at about 6:00 PM PST

Magic schedule part II
Curse does not give any Hitpoint exp. Is that OK with you? Fire Strike averages about 18 mage exp per cast Wind Bolt averages about 21 mage exp per cast. Curse always gives 29 mage exp per cast So, if I didn't want/need the HP exp, I would do nothing but Curse to raise my magic level. Look at the Magic attack stat for Bronze Plate and Rune Plate (pictures by DroolMAN) They are the same. The magic attack stats for med helm, large helm, legs, etc also appear to be the same as well. So, it looks like you could wear any combination of metal armor with green vambraces and fail. It's a "trick" in that you fail the spell but still get full mage exp. It's true. I have used it thousands of times to reach level 80 magic. :) But, don't take my word for it. Test it yourself. Put on full bronze and vambraces and cast a few Curses. You will always get 29 exp for each cast. First, I would use Curse. Second, if you do want to cast HP exp magic and if you hit very low on the lesser, then you could always try a lower monster. You could try casting from the "key" room in the Varrock sewers across the water into the 4 zombie ladder room. It's a multi-combat area so you will almost always have a target. Also, it's completely safe. Hope this helps.

~~Need Help! Going from 65 - 80 range~~
Ok, I just reached 80 ranged in F2P myself. Well, I ranged the 2 lesser demons on the top of Crandor Island. There are safe spots on the east and north of their area. Cast a Curse spell on them to "pull" them over to your safe spot. If you do it right, then you will never get hit by them. I used to bring Curse and teleport runes along with my ranger gear. I don't know. I used bronze arrows that I got from Pirate drops. At level 65 range, the max hit of bronze, iron, steel, mith, and addy is about 8, 8, 9, 10, and 11. So, I think that Bronze looks very cost effective... Pick up your arrows. If you pick up an average of 75% of your arrows then you will get 4 times the number of shots out of them. If you use the "Curse pulling trick" that I mentioned above, then all of your arrows will be in a tidy pile, along with the loot, right in front of you. If you do it right, you will never get hit, all of your arrows will be in 1 place, and you can even kill 2 lessers at the same time. Hope this helps.

Yay for Jagex. No more f2p wars.
For F2P, it's more like 60%... But does that work the other way too? That is, will PKers leave non-PKers alone if they are in the wildy on non-PK activities? I didn't think so... For F2P, the wilderness is a lot more than a PKing place. For example, in F2P, the wilderness is the only place to -- fight greater demons -- get a sapphire spawn -- mine runite ore -- get a cosmic rune spawn -- get a chaos rune spawn -- fight chaos dwarves -- fight bandits -- get big bone spawns -- get the best store prices -- get planks So, there are plenty of non-PK reasons to be in the wilderness. Jagex's update might be aimed at addressing some concerns of non-PK players.

Best place to cuy yews
The "rare tree" symbol, on the official Jagex world map for the F2P part of the world, are all yew trees. 4 northwest of Rimmington 3 south of Fally 1 north of Port Sarim 4 between Draynor vilage and Lumbridge castle 2 in Edgeville 1 south of Varrock 3 north of the Varrock castle 1 next to the northeast Varrock church 3 near the earth altar 1 in the Lumbridge graveyard. So, I count 23 in the free world.

something about cows
Sure they do!

Magic clothes
There are blue wizards in the wizard tower south of Draynor village and there are black wizards southeast of the Varrock south entrance. For F2P mages, you can wear a wizard hat, wizard robe, elemental staff, and magic amulet. P2P has many, much better, pieces of mage gear that you can wear. Hope this helps.

training prayer to 43
In F2P you can bury Big Bones to get 15 prayer exp each. Big Bones drop from Hill giants, Moss giants, and Ice giants. There are also found as a ground spawn in the Boneyard in the east central part of the wilderness. Hope this helps.

A Range calculation tip
Thank you I did suggest it in the Website Updates & Corrections Skill guide: Ranged forum. But sometimes, older web content is slow to be corrected or updated...

Need Help With Smithing?
How much smithing exp do you get, exactly, when smelting gold with the goldsmithing gauntlets? Thanks in advance :)

A Range calculation tip
Then it is working out for you. If you can get useful results by tweaking a parameter that is meant to be tweaked, well, then the formula is doing the job that it was designed to do ;) Also, that's why I said The main point of the post was to show how to account for picking up your arrows. The formula was derived with the assumptions clearly stated and suggestions on what to tweak to best fit your own ranging situation. Also, some approximate Range Max hit formulas by arrow type and level are: Bronze = (Range+14)/9 Iron = (Range+15)/9 Steel = (Range+14)/8 Mith = (Range+13.5)/7.5 Addy = (Range+16)/7 Rune = (Range+18 )/6 Hope this helps.

Where should a lvl 70 f2p train?
Try the Tip it Bestiary.

A tactic for 70 attack?
Train against monsters with low defense while on Attack style Well, if you are fighting monsters with low defense, then they will probably be low level and food will not be needed. You earn experience based on the hits you do and not on the level of the monster killed. So you may as well train on frequently spawning, low level monsters that are not overhunted. You want to be killing constantly. You could try blurite cave pirates, fortress guards, scorpions, hobgoblins, red spiders, Al Kharid palace guards, etc. Hope this helps.

Dragon Slayer Help
I think that you pretty well analyzed the situation. You must use the Dragon fire shield against Elvarg, so you are limited to using 1 handed range weapons. For F2P that limits you to a weak crossbow. For P2P, you have better bolts to use. Ask a member if arrows or knives are 1 handed.

Fast way to Get up my Combat
Kill constantly. You don't want to wait for a respawn, or share monsters, or stop to eat. So, if you fight lower level monsters, then you can do all of that. You could try Pirates in the front part of the Blurite cave, Al-Kharid warriors, scorpions, fortress guards, hobgoblins, etc. Well, Attack controls how often you hit. Strength determines how hard you hit. Defense controls how often you get hit. It takes fewer kills to raise each of these skills by 1 level each then it does to raise 1 skill by 3 levels. So, you might want to raise them in a balanced way. It partly depends on how you intend to play. If you want to PK then you should train in a way that develops your character as a PKer. If you want to train for levels or for loot then I suggest that you train in a balanced way. Since your Def and Attack are lower than your Strength, it will take far fewer kills to raise them up to equal your Strength. You can wear a power ammy to boost your attack and use a 4 dose strength potion to boost your strength. A rune scimmy is popular to use against slash vulnerable monsters because of its speed. FWIW, for meleers, each Attack level increases your Combat level by about 0.325 each Strength increases it by about 0.325 each Defense by about 0.25 each HitPoint by about 0.25 and each Prayer by about 0.125 Hope this helps.
