What movie(s) did you last see?
I just watched Immortals. I didn't really like it. I felt like the character development was really poor and I never really related to the characters or cared about them. Also.. I don't know why but the movie felt very fake. I mean you watch movies like 300, Troy, and even The Lightning Thief and they look like they're legitimate movies set in that era or movies with gods. But in Immortals, it really felt like they were on a set running around in costumes - especially the gods. I guess because their costumes were so outrageous (like really weird headpieces) and they were all TOO shiny/perfect. And in general I didn't like the movie's visualization of Greek mythology.

There has been quite a bit of activity on the 8Realms Facebook page. Is anyone still playing this game? I believe it's out of the beta stage now? Empire building games aren't usually my thing but I feel like I should at least give it a try :P- Attempted hacking twice in 10 minutes
General tips: Ideally, never ever use the same password on more than one website. If that's not realistic for you, at least use different passwords for your e-mail, your RuneScape account, and fan sites. Fan sites get hacked all the time. If you use the same password there as your RuneScape account, you're finished. If you use the same password there as your e-mail, they'll get into your e-mail and then recover your RS account via e-mail. All of your passwords should be lengthy and complex. Do not use dictionary words or anything containing personal information. Passwords like "ilovecats" or "chocolate" or your birthday are NOT good passwords. A good password should contain numbers, letters, and if possible - symbols. The longer the password, the better. Use Gmail and use two-step verification. Hosts like Hotmail are not good! Unless it has been changed more recently, Hotmail has very poor security and does not protect very well against brute force attacks. Gmail's two step verification system is invaluable! Do not use legitimate recoveries. Recovery questions set us up to be hacked. All of the questions can easily be figured out through your online profiles, social media sites, blog posts, etc. With a few searches, most people can easily figure out your home town, your best friend, your first school, your mother's maiden name, etc. Your recovery answers should be like additional passwords. Example: What is your mother's maiden name? H<[qh3g[3Psds4658jhd Use a bank PIN! Honestly if you don't use one, I have very little sympathy for you if you get hacked. There is no reason not to. Use a bank PIN, set it to take 7 days to be removed, store all your valuables before logging, and it will save your items! Do not fall for phishing scams. Jagex will never e-mail you to say you've received an infraction on your account, etc. There is never any reason to click on a link in an e-mail to RuneScape.com. If you need to visit the website, type in the URL yourself. Do not tell anyone your e-mail address or give out any other contact information unless you have to. Don't list this information on any fan site profiles. Install a good virus scanner and run it at least once a week (full scan - NOT a quick scan!). Don't visit sketchy websites or download files from people you don't know. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. People often post YouTube videos and in the description say something like: And then include a link to what LOOKS like the RSOF but really isn't. It will actually lead you to a fake RuneScape login page that will steal your password if you try to login. Do not run any untrusted Java applets.- 14-Feb-2012 - TzHaar Quest, Minigame and Graphical Rework
Just finished the quest. Easy - pretty fun though :P- "I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Give her the benefit of the doubt and give her a chance. But pay attention and don't let your own feelings cloud your judgement. If you sense that she isn't fully into it, back out. Don't try to force a relationship. She may go along with it but if she doesn't really like you, it's not going to work in the long-term, as you've seen with her previous relationships.- My love for 3D
Very cool  I'm currently working on 3D space ship models myself, but they're for class :P- Moderator Trainee Recruitment Drive 2012! - APPLICATIONS CLOSED
Moderator Trainee Recruitment Drive 2012 Application Deadline: March 1st at 11:55PM GMT General Information, About the Role, & Who Can Apply We are looking for 1-3 new people to join our moderator team as trainees! If you're interested, active, and think you'd make a great moderator, keep reading! What does a moderator do? The most obvious role of a moderator is patrolling the forums to remove inappropriate content and handle user-submitted reports. Moderators lock threads, remove posts, move misplaced threads, issue warnings to users who violate the rules, and our higher ranked moderators also issue bans. But other less obvious roles (but equally important) include continuing to browse the forums as a regular user, being a leader of the community, setting a good example, and participating in private moderator discussions to form new policies, re-evaluating old policies, and working together with the team to make the Tip.It Forum as enjoyable as possible. Do not apply to join the team if you think the role is just about dealing with reports now and then. Trainees will be expected to do that too, but the most important part of the role is being involved in the community, being able to work together as a team, and constantly looking for ways that you can help improve Tip.It. What are we looking for and what do we expect from new candidates? Ultimately, we're looking for new moderators with initiative. We want people with a passion for Tip.It, fresh ideas to bring to the team, and the desire to implement them. If you can think of forum rules you don't like or policies you want changed, that means you have a desire to change things and make them better. Qualities like that make for a good moderator! We need active moderators! We expect our trainees to browse Tip.It on a daily basis. We understand that sometimes you're unavailable due to holidays, vacations, exams, and other reasons, but on a typical day we expect daily participation. We want active and community-involved moderators! This recruitment drive is purely focused on finding people to moderate the RuneScape boards. We're not looking for Off-Topic moderators at this time because those boards are already very well taken care of! Candidates must be confident in a leadership role. We do not immediately expect moderator trainees to lead themselves and function without guidance. We will be there to help you in the beginning! But as the months go on, moderators progress through the ranks and are expected to help train new moderators and answer their questions. Some moderators even go on to become admins, who are the leaders and managers of the entire website and forum! So it's important that moderators are comfortable in working with others and acting as leaders. Being a moderator means you need a good sense of judgement, the ability to make decisions without bias, and a professional attitude. We're not a boring, serious group of people and we do joke around, but it's also important that moderators are professional in their decision-making and in the way that they interact with users in their official capacity (such as issuing warnings). Who can apply? Below are a list of requirements needed to apply: You may not be part of the Tip.It Crew. However, you may apply if you are a member of the Editorial Panel or Tip.It Monster Hunting Team. You must have registered at least 3 months ago and be active in the community. You must have a post count greater than 150. You must be interested in moderating the RuneScape forums. We're not looking for Off-Topic moderators at this time! I applied last time and got denied - can I apply again? Or what if I have been warned or banned before? If you applied last time but were unsuccessful, we highly encourage you to apply again if you meet the requirements! We are always re-evaluating our standards and changing what we're looking for in candidates, so even if you were rejected last time, you could be accepted this time! If you're still interested, give it a try! If you have received a warning or ban from a moderator in the past, you are also still welcome to apply. We do not blacklist people who have broken the rules before. If you have broken multiple rules on multiple occasions recently, then yes your chances will go down. But we always keep an open mind. We will consider the severity of the offence(s) and how much time has elapsed since your most recent offence. We promise to be fair and consider everyone. How To Apply If you are interested in applying, fill out the below form and send it in a private message to Staff_Applications with the subject "Moderator Application." Remember, this is your chance at a good first impression! Put some effort into it, don't rush, and make sure you answer every question. We're only looking to accept 1-3 new people so put your best foot forward! A tip: it's usually better to write too much than too little! Did you have a bank PIN set?- Livestreaming
I'm pretty sure TeamSpeak is still down. It went offline for technical reasons ages ago (like 6+ months) but since no one used it, we never brought it back online (unless Peter did more recently).- Going to work/school while sick
If you can afford to take a sick day, you should. I can only really speak for school though. Some schools make it so hard to take a sick day at all. My high school was really intense (harder than both unis I attended) and missing school for even one day set you sooooo far behind. Especially in subjects like math. You'd end up having to put in double the effort just to catch up. At the end of the day, it just always seemed like less effort to tough it out while sick than trying to catch up on loads of work later.- Attempted hacking twice in 10 minutes
It would have been better to store everything in your bank with a bank PIN and get your account locked. You can do that by posting on a thread in the RSOF (one of the account help forums) in the sticky called "I've been hijacked" or something. EDIT: Posted for you.- Attempted hacking twice in 10 minutes
If you still have access to your RuneScape account change the e-mail associated with it now. To Gmail, with two step verification :P If necessary I can post on the RSOF for you if you need to get your account locked.- Attempted hacking twice in 10 minutes
In addition to changing your passwords (change them again if they're not random numbers, letters, and for your e-mail - symbols), you should also change your recoveries (for RS and e-mail). Your recoveries should also be random numbers, letters, and symbols, instead of legit answers that can be farmed from profiles/social media sites. And if the e-mail address linked to your RuneScape account is not Gmail with two step verification, make it that. Also make sure you're using a bank PIN and that it's set to take 7 days to remove. For the next few days (until this person gets tired of trying to recover your account), keep all your valuables in the bank and all your money in your money pouch.- I Would Like to Thank Tif Administration
I'm glad to hear that your life is going well :)- Effigy nerf
Effigies aren't only update that's making maxing easier. Updates in general do. Effigies played a huge part. One of the things that made maxing difficult was having to work through "harder" (primarily meaning slower) skills like agility, mining, slayer, and runecrafting. Effigies changed that. I never said I thought it was a good update or a good time to do it. I think the 5 effigy limit is absurd. I think the reduced drop rate the more you get is absurd. I have no problem with the overall reduced drop rate but the whole thing does seem like a knee jerk reaction to the mummy effigy method. Why don't people stop trying to have everything served to them on a silver platter? People seem to want this game to be so easy. If people don't like runecrafting they shouldn't train it. If they want to max out, then I think training skills you don't like should be part of that process. We're not all going to like every single skill and I think that's perfectly fine. I accept that I hate mining, which is why I don't train it. I also accept that if I want to max some day I will have to train it. That's how games work. RuneScape is a game with plenty of content. There are more than enough skills for you to pick and choose the ones you want to level. Sure, Jagex could make runecrafting faster.. but why should they? So we can have another 99 that everyone and their mother has? So runecrafting can be another "not very admirable" 99? Why does everyone want the game to be so easy? Do you guys not want to actually have to work hard and put a lot of time into something? Sure it can be frustrating and boring, but that's why it feels epic when you finally complete it. There's a reason why I'm not particularly proud of my 99 fletching or 99 cooking. They were fast and easy.. so what is there to be proud of? I don't think there's anything wrong with preserving some of the slower skills. Not at all. Updates can happen and there is plenty of room for more content. My problem is, as I outlined above, that everyone wants everything to be EASY or QUICK. If Jagex makes everything easy or quick then eventually everyone will be maxed and it won't be special. It's already not that special. My point is about preserving some of the sense of achievement in RuneScape. When everything is easy, what is there to be proud of? Don't you guys actually want to have to work for something? Or should all of the 99s just be like cooking with insane xp rates?- Account Recovery
Honestly I'm not sure what we can tell you. If Jagex is denying your recovery there's nothing more you can do. But I am pretty surprised that they would deny you if you got everything right except your original password. Perhaps some of the information you submitted is actually incorrect? But again, I just don't know what we can tell you. If they're denying you, there's nothing you can really do other than keep trying and e-mail them like you've already done :/- Effigy nerf
Is it really such a bad thing that it's harder to max now? The number of maxed players has grown exponentially since effigies came out. It used to be something special, admired, and awed. Now it's kind of something that everyone strives to complete pretty realistically. It's gotten a lot less special IMO.- My forum I held off for Several months ..
See thats the problem i've made many forums in the past and worked and worked on them for like several months but had no traffic my best forums only got 4 people to join in about a year ... Idk how to get traffic :/ plus I don't have a credit card to pay some site to get me traffic :/ so I really don't know how to get traffic ... Well with a game like RuneScape, you're honestly starting a forum too late to get a lot of traffic. One of the reasons Tip.It became so huge is because it was it was the first RuneScape help site. People needed help in-game and Tip.It was the only place to go to. But these days, there are hundreds of RuneScape help sites, forums, clans, and groups. People are already situated in their favourite community/fan site and won't be looking to migrate. Furthermore, Tip.It is managed by a large team of people who have a lot of experience with coding and site/forum management. We also have constantly updating content to draw people in. You lack all of those things. In addition to using free software/hosting (which no offence, usually looks unprofessional), you're relying on other people to generate your content. Tip.It wouldn't be nearly as popular if we didn't have our main website, which consists of guides, calculators, and more. That's what draws people to Tip.It. Something you have to think about... when huge fan sites already exist with stable member bases and large amounts of information (Tip.It, RuneHQ, Zybez, etc.), why would people choose your forum over those? IMO, in order to have a successful site you have to: Be early in creating. If you want to start a successful fan site, you have to start it when the game is first created. Otherwise your new site will be competing against sites that have already been established and successful for years. You need to have a lot of experience in what you're doing, be that website creation/coding/management, etc. Have the funds to pay for the correct resources. This doesn't necessarily mean spending money to gain more traffic. Traffic will come to you if your website has awesome content and follows points 1 and 2. But what this means is paying for your own hosting/server, a dedicated domain name, and any other goodies. Those are just a few things that make a website look more professional. I'm not trying to discourage you, I'm just trying to help you understand what really goes into making a successful and professional website :)- "I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I don't have time to reply to everything.. need sleep. Long-term monogamy doesn't pay off tremendously in the end-- at least, not enough to justify the "hard work" put into it. Do you realize that if we're still both talking about monogamy here, you're also implying that maintaining a long-term monogamous relationship is "hard work?" Shouldn't relationships be fun, carefree, and exciting? Without any work? The joy shouldn't come from the "achievement"; it should come from the process leading up to the achievement. The achievement is just a bonus, if it even occurs. If you go through life always wanting and needing things and remaining unsatisfied until you've achieved something, you're going to have a very difficult time finding happiness. Considering the process in monogamy is "hard work," that doesn't bode well for it. I wasn't exclusively talking about relationships when I said that. When you made your original post it sounded like you were talking about life in general so I responded in kind. I don't want life in general to be easy. I want there to be hard work and achievement. That part wasn't specific to relationships. You can still be in love and have multiple relationships at the same time. Not everybody wants to do that. I don't think you'll feel the same way as you continue further down the traditional monogamous path-- living together, getting married, having kids, etc. And that's all you're doing.. thinking.. guessing. But at the end of the day, you can't make assumptions or predictions about my life/relationship or anyone else's. You haven't even experienced getting married and having kids yourself. All you're going on are other peoples' experiences and you can't apply those to other people. I'm not throwing all the successful marriages in your face because I know that everyone is different. People are different, personalities are different, relationships are different, and some people generally make better choices. You think monogamy is boring. I get it. But don't try to tell me how I'm going to feel or how my relationship is going to end up. You're not psychic or all knowing.- "I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
I don't judge people who want to stick to one night stands etc. If people want to do that, that's fine; I won't get involved or try to change that. My only problem with muggi's approach is the way he's presenting it, as if it's the only right way to do it and as if it's fact rather than his own opinion and lifestyle. I just keep getting the impression that he thinks he's enlightened and knows the secret key to the world of relationships, which he's now graciously sharing with the community. No offence muggi, but that's really how you're coming off :P- "I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
You're right, but an easier life is better than a harder life. Why would I want to work hard for something that I can obtain for much less work? The idea is working hard for something that pays off tremendously in the end, rather than settling for something less awesome that's less work. The joy should be in the work and the achievement. But apparently you want to skirt through your life without any achievements, as I'd hardly consider one night stands to be much of an achievement :P There aren't really any risks involved with monogamy until marriage comes into the picture. At which point, the man has much to lose and little to gain. The risk I'm referring to is in taking a chance and actually letting yourself fall in love. You seem to have the idea that it's better to avoid love and monogamy all together because of the potential failure. You're hiding from failure, whereas I'd rather take a chance with it. Everybody wants this. You don't need long-term monogamy to have this. In fact, the structure long-term monogamy doesn't even allow this-- it's usually the other way around past a certain point. Only because according to you it's a scientific fact that every single relationship in the world gets boring, whereas having meaningless sex with a new woman every night is the most fun and diverse thing in the world. Heaven forbid that people be different and I find monogamy more interesting and enjoyable than meaningless sex with people I don't care about or barely know.- "I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Well an easier life doesn't mean a better life either. You shouldn't avoid difficult situations because something could go wrong. If you're not going to work hard and take a few risks then seriously what's the point? I'd rather have a lot of highs and a few lows than a constant state of in-between.- sad?
My high school was actually awesome about Valentine's Day :P The male acapella singing group would allow people to sign up for them to sing a Valentine song to their SO in the middle of class - Gallery coming back?
If I remember correctly, it'll be back once we upgrade our version of IPB, which will probably be in a few weeks. Sorry for the inconvenience :( - 8Realms
