There has to be a distinction made between those women who voluntarily wear the burqa, and those people who are forced to do so. I couldn't say which is in the majority. That's a bit of an issue when making blanket-bans - you really need to know the majority. I can't say much about the sitution in France, and indeed I believe it may be different, but in the middle east I think women are happy to wear at least a hijab (which is fine), and a burqa.

If you're interested in combat you should get your strength level up - it is one of the most important when in combat and it's pretty far behind the others. Ranged to 70 is nice for black d'hide, but that can be more long-term. What you want to level up kinda depends on what your goals are to do in the game, eg do you like bosshunting?

You could also consider using SC hammers to lower costs.

That is very odd.. are you sure RS is referring to the client? Or are they referring to java version or something? Can you plese give us the exact text. I just tried to log on to RS online myself, with the client installed, and it was fine. It seems odd becuase the client is not installed, it's just an executable.. And it's not like RS goes trawling around your computer.. almost sounds like a virus TBH, although thats just massive massive speculation that is almost definately wrong.

For one thing, don't use your BGS as a training weapon - whip is good. Grinding can get dull and slayer is often a good compromise - plus you can get good drops and you're levelling another skill.
-
Go to wherever you downloaded the client to and just delete it.

Is anyone else just completely disappointed with everyone?
Guy replied to IHasChicken's topic in General Discussion
You see, that's the thing - by using archaic in a derogatory way you are putting yourselves above those who just want to play the game their way, which may not be the most efficient. You may have said you understand afterwards, but you still view your way as superior to theirs by calling it old and outdated. -
That's correct, although the spiders OP is talking about are agressive to anyone, I'm level ~110 and they still get me.
-
All (that I know) agressive monsters become un-agressive after a peroid of time, regardless of combat level.

Surely flaming eachother repetitively in heated argument is not the way to reslove this entire issue? It also irks me that some people view themselves above everyone else - get down off your high horse and stop telling me that you are essential to the TIF community and it will die without you - that's not true (not directed at anyone in particular, at least I will name no names). I think, to clear this whole thing up, the admin team really have to be a little more transparent on this whole issue and release information on why the person who was banned, was banned (with his permission, of course). -
Trench coats and bulky jackets have a very practical use, y'know.. keeping warm. That's not to say that burqas don't have a use, but I believe the whole France issue is not so much about security but how it's against the whole Frech way of life.
-
Then we should ban pockets and trenchcoats. I can go outside right now with a gun inside my coat pocket and nobody would know. This is clearly a security threat. Also if anyone is going to blow up a building, do you really think theyre gonna give a crap if a 250 dollar burqa fine is in place? No. Theyre gonna throw on their disquise then drop off the bomb, blow it up, and run away. Hell, lots of Muslim attacks are suicides anyway, so what does it matter if their identity is concealed? The $250 fine is there to discourage the waring of burqas. Thus there will be less people wearing burqas, thus the terrorist in this case would be a lot more conspicious and would be stopped. AFAIK, the ban in France was based somewhat about security, but it was more about how it's against France's belifs as a nation. The tone of your post did seem very anti-Muslim in general too, just saying.. Then ban black-visored motorbike helmets. If a biker commits a hit-and-run offence and I can't see his face, isn't this the same issue of accountability? Or does it not fall into the special terrorism clause that popped up after 9/11? I'm sorry, I just don't follow this at all. We criticise Islamic nations for forcing women to wear a full-faced veil, and then we perform a complete intellectual backflip by not allowing them to wear it at all here even when they want to. Which country in this situation is really on the high ground here? I'd argue they're both persecuting free will. If we think about the west, then there's really 2 parties human rights that have to be considered. The Muslim people who wear burqas volunatarily alongside those who are forced to wear the burqa (which is an entirely different aspect of human rights), and the rights of the general public who have the right to feel safe. I agree both of your examples persecute free will, but without statistics it's hard to say which is the most utalitarian. The problem with any ban on this matter is that there are two types of Muslim women - those who do and those who do not want to wear the burqa, and sadly the options are all or none.. Personally I think the hijab is acceptable because the entire face is visible and thus that part of the 'security' issue is gone. I'd be genuinely interested to hear arguments against the hijab. Edit: There's the potential damage to society and infringements of human rights related to feeling safe. There's also the issue that many Muslim women are indeed forced to wear the burqa.

I don't think that most people automatically assume 'omg terrorist' when they see someone in a burqa, but there is an element of fear simply because they can see all of you, and you can see nothing but cloth - you can't even see their eyes or face.
-
Having been to the Middle east recently, I've seen a lot of women wearing burqas and the like. It is indeed a fundamental part of their culture, and I don't think that the women really mind (at least, the hijab). It's no different, really, to the 'western' equivilant of a suit for men. That's not to say that some people aren't forced to wear it - I have no doubt that that occours. In France, I can see that they have some legitimate reasons for banning it - it really isn't part of their nationality, so to speak. It's more justifiable than banning fish and chips, for example, just because they're not French. The burqa is a more substantial thing (I agree with Fool, the hijab isn't really a problem). In the UK, at least England, it's a somewhat harder decision because we've been such a multicultural society for a long time..

If that ultrasurf thing is being a little slow, you could always try hotspot sheild, another VPN program. I've heard theres a 5GB data limit, but I'm not sure.. Can't say I condone either, I'd imagine RS uses a sizeable amount of bandwith...

You could somewhat easily just get rid of the software off your computer, but sadly I think your dad might have something to say about that, not least because you say that he is paying $100 a month to have it on there. I would just talk to your dad about it before you go any further.

Orange spice. Changing how many doses does indeed change how much the skill is boosted. Adding 3 doses of spice will get you up to +6 or down to -6 level change. 2 doses will get you +4 to -4, and 1 dose will get you 2 to -2. You could always consider using the crystal saw with tea (gold), which also gives a +6 boost, but this boost has the benefit of being 100%, instead of stew where the chance of getting +6 is rare.

This isn't a particularly tech-y thread, I'd just like your opinions :) I have a few series of the Simpsons, Friends and various other TV shows and movies. I was wondering whether you guys thought it would be worth ripping them all onto my computer? I doubt I'll watch them on their disk form.. but yeah I'd like to know what you guys would do? Seems somewhat random I know. I know it would take quite a lot of storage, seeing as I have 14 series + movies to rip. What do you guys think harddrive-wise? I currently have a 500GB and a 160GB(boot) harddrives, I was thinking of going to 1 2TB harddrive to store everything on? I can see having more than 2 hard drives might become a bit of a pain. Also, are there any programs that will allow me to 'combine' 2 hard drives, like making windows refer to my 2 hard drives (500 + 160) as a single 660GB drive? Is that possible? I don't think any RAID protocols allow this. Also, is there any noticeable difference between 5400 and 7200 RPM drives? I'd prefer 7200, but I have no real experience with 5400. I'll be playing games a fair bit, like Flight sim, and watching video. And 32mb vs 64mb cache? Which is more important? Also, should I be looking for a sata 3 one or will sata 2 suit me fine? Thanks. Disclaimer: These rips would be from legally purchased DVDs that I have bought, and the resulting files would be for my exclusive personal use - they would not be used for filesharing. EDIT: I'm 99% sure ripping is legal, at least in the USA.

Also reboot without clean install tends to go a lot nicer if u don't brand hop. From personal experience Doing a rebuild intel to amd had to reboot like 12 or so times and do a few repairs from disc to work. Doing an intel to intel for my mum; and an amd to amd for a friend both went much faster n smoother. Could be a fluke thou. I couldn't think of reasons for that, I'm pretty sure that the OS doesn't react differently to differently branded CPUs, they just treat them as generic objects, and the same for DDR2/3 RAM. They don't use drivers, either. (Correct me if I'm wrong on either of those points, though). The thing I've experienced is when changing motherboards I've had to fiddle around with some MS stuff (I guess copy-protection). I can see how changing stuff around might be a bit of a problem without a clean install, though.

This. Couldn't have put it better myself. -
OP how much do you want to spend? That's pretty key in whether you should go the AMD or intel way.
-
Please read the entire topic before posting. Thank you. I know OP wants an i7 and I was responding to someone else saying an x6 would be good..? I did miss a post by OP at beginning of first page, if that's what you're talking about.
-
I would say go intel, and don't stick with AMD even if it does mean buying a new motherboard, and you'll probably need/want new DDR3 RAM anyway. But yeah, if you're going for very quick processing, I'd say intel is the better choice.
