Seconded with the above ^ You could consider using the RS downloadable client.

The unified Tech and Computers Sticky <read first>

Agree with above. While I'm here Ninite is very handy when setting up a computer. Go on to the website, check what you want to install, then download a custom installer and it installs everything for you without having to download a million different installers. -
No harm in trying to reinstall.
-
If you haven't already, try using different USB ports. Use the ones on the front and the back.
-
Goes without saying. Seeing as they're 2.5 years old though, I'm not sure that you'd get much benefit from having them fixed for a price (out of warranty, I assume) instead of buying a new pair.

The dust will be a massive problem. Buy compressed air in a can specially designed for use with computers, and spray it out. If you feel confident, you could take off the heatsink, buy some thermal paste, stick it on there and screw it back down. It's not too difficult and I'm sure there are tutorials on youtube on how to do it or something.

As principle, you should not use VGA if you can, especially for such high resolutions. Seeing as you have both HDMI ports on your TV and one on your GFX card, then just use HDMI.

Lots of things work on 2.4GHz. Interference does happen, but it happens everywhere and theres not a lot you can do about it. So the internet and everything works apart from skype? The internet might not be fast enough on that computer.

I think they're done for.
-
The one with volume control will have some kind of variable resistor I think or something similar, which could create a magnetic field thus messing up that speaker in particular. I think its just time to get new speakers.
-
I'm not sure where the control commands are processed, but I'm pretty sure that it is done by the OS. If this is the case, then it wouldn't correlate with anything to do with hardware. I couldn't expand on this.. I'm exhausted >.> but I'll have a think in the morning.

I agree with what sy accursed said about maybe constantly trying new things can be inferred to mean that you don't stick to things, but stepping out of ones comfort zone is good. You should really really read through it and correct the grammar - it makes it quite hard to make sense of. Also, make it 'flow' a bit better when reading

Something to consider would be getting a 6950 with dual BIOS so you can attempt to flash it to a 6970 BIOS, and if you brick it you're fine because you have a second BIOS

There are literally millions of things that can make your computer freeze suddenly. Does audio stop at the same time as the video? Personally I had this problem with a friends computer, and I solved it by turning off a power saving setting in the BIOS, although if this is a prebuilt I doubt that would be the problem (let alone would the BIOS give you control of that). Take a look inside of your tower and clean out any dust that's in there. Even if it doesn't work, it will do good. Uninstall and reinstall java regardless of whether or not you think you have the latest version. Same with swiftkit. I hate to state the obvious, but have you tried other browsers? The chance that it is a swiftkit issue is slim, but it's something that is easy to rule out. Does this happen with any other aspects of the game, especially cutscenes or any other graphically intensive time? Perhaps you could run 3D Mark 11 to see if it freezes then, to narrow the problem down to a graphics issue (which, I agree is probably what's gone wrong). Unfortunately with intel integrated graphics, you're kinda stuck replacing them unless you buy a dedicated card.

If what you say about getting the new sets from the lava flow mine is true, then I think fixing the random number/chance generator is the way to go. The whole point of probability is not that if you do something 5000 times with a 1/5000 probability, you will be guaranteed to get it. The probabilities should of course be the same for everyone, but I think guaranteeing people something if they do x things with 1/x chance of getting the something is not the way to go. It is not how probabilities are supposed to work. They should fix the so-called random chance generator though, it indeed does seem to favour some people above others.

Pro perks, air support, titles, emblems, more attachments etc etc. It was a big undeniable step up in.. perhaps complexity is not the right word but I will roll with it.. from COD 4. If there is the same level of change in MW3, and dare I say it moves a little away from the COD franchise (if it was more realistic, or something) then that would be nice too. It's clear that you aren't a fan of this game, however other people (hai) appear to enjoy the game. I could say the same things you're saying about something you like but I don't - people like different things.

I can understand that tipit doesn't want to be affiliated with botting of any sort, so if there are legitimate concerns about there being potentially rulebreaking stuff on TEF then it seems reasonable that the link is banned. While TEF doesn't encourage botting, it seems some scripts are suspect and it makes sense that tipit want to double check with the actual decision-makers before allowing linking. It may turn out that the scripts are fine, but that wouldn't change the legitimacy of the admins/mods decision. The two sides can argue whether or not they are rulebreaking or not until they are blue in the face - an answer from Jagex is the only thing that will work.

Speaking from the perspective of a computer programmer (which I do for a living, albeit as a student currently), it's impossible to create true human emotion. (or even animal emotion for that matter) I can create a "robot" that will say "that makes me sad" whenever you type the sentence "you're an idiot", but at the end of the day, it's just bits being flipped and it's doing exactly what it's been told to do. It's no different from pressing the gas pedal of a car and expecting the car to move forward. If the car doesn't move, it's not (and cannot be) because the car somehow objects to moving, it's because it's been told not to, or something's broken. Doesn't quantum computing allow for a bit to be somewhere in-between though, so there can be a degree of uncertainty. If realistic AI is ever developed it would be naive to not hard code null feelings, and no robot revolution or whatever.

BO was awful, but then again the WW2-esque things aren't really my favorite. MW was/is a fun game, MW2 was revolutionary and fun (even if there was some annoying stuff), so I will most probably be getting MW3. Were there any images in the trailers, like the perk icons in the MW2 trailer that anyone noticed?

I thought I had some of that mod-repellent around here somewhere.. 195

Sounds like a good idea although patronising tripsis is probably not the best way to go about doing things. -
I think the way MSE works is that it scans through the system files related to the OS and checks for any discrepancies compared to a DB at Microsoft. That could be utter rubbish though. Personally, I run Avast and MSE in tandem. They don't seem to take notice of one another, and from what I've heard both are pretty solid.

If the back ports don't work, check you've installed all of the motherboard drivers. If you have, try reinstalling them (it's a pain, I know). If that doesn't work, there's a problem with the motherboard. Regarding the front ports, the only real way is to check inside the computer (what harm are you going to do by just opening it? Just make sure you're grounded) and check that everything is plugged in fine. The front panel connectors are normally at the bottom of the board. I think that's the issue you were trying to describe, anyway. For the 'no harddrive detected', does the computer actually boot up? Or do you have dual HDD's? It's probably just a SATA cable or power connection that has become loose. Open 'er up and check the connections.

IB was offered at my old school for sixth form and that is precisely why I changed schools to one that does A-levels. Quote person who does IB 'A social life, enough sleep, good grades. Choose two of the above'. Also I couldn't stand HAVING to do all English, as well as a language and creative stuff. I do science, maths and computers. Not making stuff up about a book or playing an instrument. Also the fact that if you fail one, you don't get the certification bothers me. @echofish on the first page GCSE is a joke. A child could do it. iGCSE is where it's at - and the leap from there to A-level is supposed to be rather large.
