Any way to make blog descriptions run as far to the right as possible and then inserting an ellipsis (...) if they run any further?

LOCK PLEASE *TOPIC ALREADY*
Maybe you could apply your sharp eye for the Knowledge Base to check if there's already a topic here on a subject next time. Well done for noticing it though - I never would have spotted such detail. ;) Locked.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Alright guys and dolls.. let's try and keep the spam down to a minimum. Although some of you newbies to life might find it entertaining, please bear in mind that not many people are particularly interested in seeing 'YO MAMMA' jokes being thrown around again like it's 1999. Don't make me come back here ;)

Change of Forum Software - UPDATED!
I'd also like to know this. I know there's a bug with usernames if they have an underscore in them and I'm curious as to whether moving to a new board will solve the problem. :)

Lock this flamewar.. tired of it.
I've always found this part of the forum so.. elitist and.. eh never mind. I'll just say that I'm amazed that anyone would choose subject themselves to this kind of criticism. Anyway.. locked on request.

10th August 2009 - Fur 'n' Seek (and Patch Notes)
Runescape General Discussion is clearly not the place to discuss the philosophy behind whether racist terms should be viewed as offensive or not. If anyone does want to delve into these issues then feel free to take it to the Off-topic forum, but for now I'll ask that you all stop any further discussion over this. You have all been warned; don't make me come back in here. ;)

Xp graphs and charts
What are the chances of getting some Xp graphs and charts put onto Tip.it? Be it a pie chart showing the distribution of Xp between all your different skills within a week/month, or a line graph/bar chart displaying your Xp progress against a previously user-set goal to attain (eg. the user may complete a table of how much Xp they wish to reach in a particular skill each day over the course of a week which could be plotted against how much Xp they actually gained in that week). A few examples of the kind of graphs I'm talking about: [hide=F2P weekly Xp distribution (line graph)][/hide] [hide=F2P weekly Xp distribution (pie)][/hide] [hide=User projected weekly Magic Xp versus gained Magic Xp (line graph)][/hide] A few examples of other sites' graphs; RS Stats - click on the 'graphs' tab on the left side RuneTrack - Xp distribution pie chart on the bottom right I know that Runemonkey also used to have a very good Xp Change graph on their site (although for some reason it's been removed, however). So.. what are the crew's views on this? For all the traffic these kind of things brings in I'm surprised that it hasn't been implemented into the site already. Is it due to a bandwidth/time issue?

2011/12 Football Season
Good old West Ham.. We're out of the two mickey mouse cups we were playing in in China after losing to both Hull and Tottenham. Good start to the new season! :lol: A little disappointed with our new home kit, though;

Username changes
The day I can change my Runescape name to that of my Xboxlive gamertag will most likely be the day that I bother playing this game again. I suspect that the option to do so will be released at the same time as Mechscape, for obvious reasons.

Scientists create 'test-tube' sperm
UK scientists have announced that they've been able to create sperm from stem cells taken from a 5-day-old male embryo. If confirmed, the development is said to be predominantly focused on people with infertility problems, allowing humans to, for the first time, have (genetically linked) children in spite of the card they were dealt at birth. Below is the basic process, as provided by the BBC; [hide=Stem Cells and Development Journal]They began with stem cell lines derived from human embryos donated following IVF treatment. The stem cells had been removed when the embryo was a few days old and were stored in tanks of liquid nitrogen. The stem cells were brought to body temperature and put in a chemical mixture to encourage them to grow. They were "tagged" with a genetic marker which enabled the scientists to identify and separate so-called "germline" stem cells from which eggs and sperm are developed. The male, XY stem cells underwent the crucial process of "meiosis" - halving the number of chromosomes. The process over creating and developing the sperm took four to six weeks. The Newcastle team say the sperm were fully mature, mobile sperm and they have produced a video to back up the research.[/hide] Judging by the articles and news reports I've read on the issue so far, many scientists are already claiming this to be one of the major medical breakthroughs of the decade. Although the Newcastle scientists say that the technique is still several years away from perfection, as you may imagine, the findings raise a huge range of practical and moral implications. Understandably, the researchers have been quick to state the issue of creating sperm should be debated now, prior to any practical usage, because as it stands it would be illegal for the scientists to attempt to create any life from the sperm. Although there are countless more implications from this research, I've put down a few of the major ones so as to spark up some discussions on Tip.it ;) They're all practical issues, because God knows (hah!) that I don't give a damn about the many religious issues, but feel free to bring them up if you so choose to. Also note; there are at least two other parallel experiments being conducted at the same time (by the same research team) aiming to look at how they can further their development into other areas: 1. Unlike the headline research (stem cells taken from male embryos), this experiment is using stem cells taken simply from male skin cells, thus eliminating the need for an embryo. 2. (Unconfirmed) Although preliminary studies have failed, there may still be an experiment looking into whether the stem cells of a female can be used in the creation of sperm. Infertile adults having children;- The dangers of going against nature? Infertile men and women will have the ability to pass down their DNA onto children? Redundant men?;- In theory, sperm can be made in the future from male stem cells frozen in the past, therefore meaning that future generations could all have a common, modern, single ancestor. 'Female sperm';- (the yet to be published study) What implications will be had from lower levels of testosterone in children created from the DNA of two women? If you intend to respond to this, then I strongly suggest you read up on this some more, as what I've said in this post really isn't enough to gain a decent understanding of the topic, and of course if you have a minimal understanding of the topic then your response may invariably lack quality... Another Sailing leak.
I've just been contacted by someone working at Jagex, and it appears that you are indeed right. I've been told that that boat is actually intended for the Sailing skill and was accidentally released into the game several years too early. Apparently we're not allowed to discuss this matter any further, as Jagex are a bit upset that you spotted the boat and ruined their surprise. :( Rest assured, the boat will be removed from the game in the during the next update. Sorry; locked.

How to get around trade limit?
Please respect the rules put in place by Jagex; they are all there for a reason. As said, there is no way to legally transfer items from one account to another, so I'm locking this topic. If you've got any questions then feel free to Pm either myself or another moderator.
