Profanity: Legally Bypassing the RS Censor
Feel free to talk about the censor. If Jagex apparently now view their game as being one aimed at a much older audience then there should be no problem in having a discussion about the censor. I've personally always been in favour of having an [on]/[friends]/[off] option to the censor, that way everyone should be happy. Report closed; topic is fine to discuss. Tip.it has a decent censor for the most vulgar words anyway. ;)

Need java proxy to play in school
Tip.it neither advocates nor condones any form of bypassing a school's system set in place to stop you from playing games. You are in school for a reason. As said, just wait 7 more days and then you can spend weeks wasting your life away in front of a computer screen. Please respect your school's decision and accept that they know what is in your best interests. Locked.

E3 2009 - The Big 3 & the Minorities
Just finished watching the stream for Ubisoft's conference, and my God what a waste of time. I didn't think it was possible for such a big developer to dissapoint so much. The presenter was an absolute idiot who seemed incapable of speaking without staring at the teleprompter on the floor. If he didn't know what to say, he would relentlessly use the word "AWESOME!" to fill the gap, and introduced the most famous football player of all time as "Pale-ay" rather than "Pele". It was as if he just forgot to practice, woke up, half-drunk, in the afternoon of the presentation and thought 'Meh, I'll wing it. So what if I don't know my lines.' As to the games on display; there was more time spent on Ubisoft's beloved "Petz" et al franchise than on 'Assassin's Creed 2' whose only feature was a pre-rendered trailer. Worst part was that 'Beyond Good & Evil 2' didn't even get a mention. For shame, Ubisoft. For shame.

Please use the existing topics for any discussion regarding either the May 28th Postbag, or, specifically, the Submarine/Sea monster. Locked. Feel free to PM if you've got any problems/questions and all that. ;)

Today...
 To elaborate on what I said earlier (was actually feeling grumpy from having to listen to so much jazz music), me and my school jazz band performed at some regional (a few bands from around nz too) jazz festival. We came 1st overall for the regionals. We have 2 bassists in the band including myself and it turns out there was only one amp on stage... so they made me play bass by myself. I thought jazz was for nerds but there were some pretty good looking people there. Mhmm. Jazz is for nerds..? :? Try saying that to Miles Davis. Jazz is my favourite genre of all time, and I've always considered it to be the coolest style out there. I think GTA4's take on the jazz era pretty much sums it up for me

Today...
Today? Forget that - The only thing I did today was catch up on sleep from my last exam. Right now, it's all about tonight, in which I plan on doing my typical revision routine of leaving everything to the night before an exam, cramming and hoping for the best. It's 1:20am and I have.. just under 12 hours to start and finish revising for a 1st year Contract Law exam for uni. "Hey man, did you notice that that girl had a massive lump in her trousers?" "No sorry.. I was just trying to figure out why we've only got 1 colour template left.." :-k "What the hell! I ordered like 38 just the other day. What colour is left?" "It's that sickly brown-green template that no one likes. Damnit. It's like the templates just walked out the sho-" *the two men share a knowing glance* "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" "Oh, Sam. I love you too!" "Get the hell off me man." The book will be out later this year.

North Korea Conducts Nuclear Test
Pretty worrying development this morning. North Korea has threatened to take military action against South Korea if they make true on their decision to join a US led coalition of countries stopping a searching NKorean ships to look for nuclear weapons, claiming that the act would be considered an "infringement on our sovereignty" This news is especially important as NK have taken the un-precedented action of abandoning the truce with SK which the two countries have shared since the 1950s. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-p ... 069457.stm

Scientology Trial in France Could Ban the "Church"
Unless we've got a learned student of French domestic law somewhere on Tip.it, I feel as though it might be worthless to discuss the exact legality of the case. In any case, wikipedia is never a viable source of information for law. My university has gone so far as to explicitly ban us from using it on our law degrees due to the lack of depth and veracity. In order to accurately assess how successful the French courts will be, you'd need to know about not only the primary French Act relating to Fraud, but also any precedent set by previous simliar cases as well as the European Convention on Human Rights and any specific EU directives relating to religion and fraud.

90 range to 99 useing red chins
Locking this, as you seem to have received a guide which I implore you to read thoroughly. If I recall, it is quite thorough, and should be able to answer any problems you may face in chinning. In future, please post all questions in the Help & Advice board, as Mr. Orange (aka Spoofer) provided.

Greatest Cause of Human Misery
The desire for money/power. I can't think of anything that has caused more trouble than that. Possibly religion, but the end desire of many 'religious' people in power tends to be er.. more power, with religion used more as a front for their actions.

Conservative Host Scoffs Waterboarding; Is Waterboarded; Say
If I could go off-topic for just a second I'd just like to say that sort of thing does bug me. There are a few mods (not all) who are pretty damn good posters and have to hold back a bit on the forums because of their position. I understand why its necessary but sometimes it feels like the board loses them as good posters because they are mods even though being good posters is a factor in why they were asked to be mods in the first place. We've got absolute discretion in the amount of posts we make as mods (no different to normal users), so if we ever do hold back on posting it's always our own choice to do so. I understand that it may be frustrating to see quality posters take a backseat role upon becoming a mod (due to respect, accountability, users viewing our criticism as bias etc), but I like to think that it represents a good price to pay for some quality staff. Anyway, that's all I'll say on the matter of mods, as this topic is turning into quite an intelligent discussion. I agree. I think it's important that the issue of a moral standpoint should never be overlooked when discussing torture, otherwise we are at risk of getting caught up in a vicious cycle - an attitude which has just been perfectly displayed by roccodog, above.

Conservative Host Scoffs Waterboarding; Is Waterboarded; Say
This is one of those moments in which I would truly love to speak plainly, but due to my position here I shall hold my tongue to a degree. I'll say this though; The stupidity & sheer ignorance expressed by a few people is.. simply staggering, and a prime example of a major disadvantage of giving every man the vote i.e. democracy. Certain people should not be given any say, due to the obnoxious (not to mention reckless) sense of pride and justice spouting from their mouths, as it has a truly damaging affect. []

Conservative Host Scoffs Waterboarding; Is Waterboarded; Say
Wow, they thought it would be fun to torture each other? I don't think I've ever thought to myself, on those slow boring mondays, to inject some fun into the day with nice session of controlled drowning. You've got some pretty stupid friends. They'd probably make excellent sadistisc US army recruits though :|

Prices dropped?
Runescape has a living, breathing economy, and so prices will inevitably change, and I think that only you can explain your mysterious accumulation of items and money. No real discussion value here, so I'm locking this.

Funny things to do in an elevator
I'll take this opportunity to remind you all that this is a G-rated forum, so please leave the smutty/indecent jokes out. Show some maturity; avoid the obvious sex jokes and try and come up with something original and actually funny. Hopefully then you'll have a quality, memorable thread, rather than a stupid one ;) I'll leave you with the best of the 3rd series of Trigger Happy TV (UK sketch show[bBFC classification: 12a/15]) which includes a few elevator sketches for you fanatics  http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... r+happy+tv (may have to reload the page to get the video to play and stop displaying the 'unavaiable' message)

Optical Illusio?s
I remember seeing the spinning dancer ages ago. Took me a while to figure out how the illusion works and how to get it to switch directions at will. The trick (as far as I can tell) is in her foot. Below is a still from the illusion showing the movement pattern of her foot. Although it may be hard to tell, her foot does not actually fully rotate as it's direction is limited to the red line. In order to discern this for yourself you should cover up the image (paper/hand) leaving only her foot exposed, then hopefully you'll be able to tell that it moves in an arc and should be able to switch directions at will. ;)

What are your favorite/least favorite foods?
Good job searching & bumping, mate. I love my food and I love my tip.it threads, so if more people posted pictures this would be near perfection. ;) Chili-Spaghetti? As in chili and spaghetti combined? Or was that a typo? I too have never heard of this concoction. Dakota is clearly suffering from madness, and that is not an invitation for Sparta(!) jokes. This is a food thread, not 480BC Thermopylae.

Today...
Ah, AS Pyschology. I remember doing that joke subject  My attendance at the end of the year was around 30%; still got a B. I remember the research methods exam being quite fun though, pretty much exactly the same as what I did at GCSE which itself was pretty much common sense. Would you say that it's worth going to see the Star Trek film if you've never had any prior interest in the series? Anyway, today also marked the first of my summer law exams for my first year at Uni. Despite it being on the content heavy area of Contract Law it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, so I don't feel bad about doing minimal revision for it

Needs Moar Filters
The only shortfall that our current filter suffers from is not blocking those sad 4chan phrases and memes which seem to be the current fad among the youth of today. :|

procrastinatiooooooooooooon
Right now it's 6:20am. I have the first of my summer exams in my law degree starting at 1:30pm. As of now I am yet to start revising for it. I am like this for every exam/coursework, and I never learn not to do this. I am the essence of procrastination.

Jagex & Tip.It Interview discussion thread!
Ehh.. A shame that my question was subject to a 'I dont think we can say anything on this matter', as I am oh so desperate to change my eternally censored username :| Here's hoping that their avoidance of the subject was due to them not wanting to spoil an upcoming surprise. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that we're nearing the time of Mechscape which would coincide with the ability to create/change a global username. Anyway - thanks for taking the time to conduct the interview, Peter ;)

~~**Useless Runescape Facts**~~ Version 2
The issue and discussion of thread bumping ends now. This is not the place to discuss such matters, if you have a query as to our policy, or would like clarification then I suggest you either PM an admin/mod or raise the issue in the Forum Updates & Suggestions board. _________________________ This is the rule regarding bumping topics (used at a mod's discretion); 1.2 - Irritating Posting Styles/Spamming ...do not pointlessly bump old threads unless you're contributing to the topic... Our general policy regarding the issue is as follows; If a user bumps a thread with a pointless reply which does not contribute to the topic, then we will usually simply remove that post and the topic will revert to it's original state far from the first page of a board. If a user bumps a thread with a worthwhile post which contributes to the discussion then we will let it be - there's nothing wrong with coming late to a party with a valid point, aside from the fact that it sounds like a very dull party. __________________________ The reason the previous topic was locked - rather than having the spammy comments removed - was likely due to the time and workload it would have taken, as the majority of the latter pages were spam. Let this be a reminder to all of you not to reply to spammy/off-topic/useless posts, and instead use the report button. It's there for a reason - we, as mods, rely on it.

~Whats Your 360 Gamer Tag?~
Right, with a lot of friends away on holiday I find myself lacking decent people on Live recently so I'm leaving my GT here in the hope of getting some TIF on my list :) Particularly interested in anyone who knows their way around Battlefield: Bad Company and people that know how to actually play football on Fifa 09, rather than the old through-ball to Ronaldo > sprint > shoot tactic that I find myself quitting on in so many 'fun' matches. Just so I know where you're from, could you also mention tip.it in any friend requests. Cheers. Gamertag - Cursa
