  1. Fuggin A. I've been in heaps of arguments for smacking my 15 month old son in public. What did they expect me to do? Let him grab the 6 pack of glasses and smash it on the floor? I know he's a kid but he's gotta learn respect and discipline. I was the kinda kid who could be told 'No' a million times and I'd still go and do it anyway. Smack me once, and I'd never do it again. There's nothing wrong with todays kids, except pansy parenting methods.
  2. The lengths people are going to to prove Runescape is educational is starting to get truly creepy. Why can't we just enjoy playing a game without having to justify it as being educational?
  3. I will not give a thing to beggers. But if someone needs something and is offering a ridiculous amount for it - like 500gp for a knife - I'll give it to them for free.
  4. And the prosecution rests Your Honor. Seriously, you would've done a lot more for the argument by not posting at all.
  5. True, just like 'the sun'. Everyone knows it's just a myth... :XD: And don't forget that fallacy about the Earth being round :P
  6.  :-# -.- Do I seriously have to explain that I was only joking? My username hasn't got 'Chicky' in it because I like the word!
  7. But but but.... everyone knows there are no girls on the internet!! :notalk: :wall:
  8. The other one was Quidditch through the ages. I'm probably going to get this too. The epilogue left more questions then answers Yeah like why didn't the girls get a say in naming the kids? #-o
  9. Even without knowing your past, I would have to agree with you. I was a daddy's girl, and will always be a daddy's girl long after we both are in our graves. My mother can rot in hell for all I care. I'm glad that my daughter and I are so very close. I'm glad to see I'm not the only Daddy's Girl out there. I'm not spoilt and both my parents have done a crappy job over the years, but my mother has said and done things I can never forgive her for. I used to dream of them getting divorced... actually, I still do.
  10. I've done telemarketing. The money was simply not worth the crap I had to put up with and I ended up having to resign due to stress - panic attacks before each shift will really take the fun out of your day! Having been on the recieving end, I find it really hard to brush off a telemarketer. Luckily for me, I have an easy out: Them: Is Mrs MyLastname there? Me: No (I'm not married.) Them: Oh.. is Mr Mylastname there? Me: Nope, sorry. I think you have a wrong number. (My son has his father's surname.) Them: Oh. Is this 89423574 (not real number) Me: Yes, but - Them: Well what I'm calling about - Me: Look sir/ma'am, this call sounds like it's intended for someone else. Under privacy laws, it would be illegal for us to continue this conversation. Usually that gets them to hang up. As far as I'm concerned, it's simple - if you don't want unsolicited calls, get a silent number or join the Do Not Call list.
  11. I'd be in there in a heartbeat. I'd love to know how certain characters dealt with certain events. Although on the upside, in Australia, it's at 9am, so I can still have a decent nights sleep!
  12. Depends on how it was affecting her though. She may have needed the computer for study or work and been unable to use it. If that was the case, I can understand, any thing else I'd say she used it as an excuse to move out. HEY! Who are you and why are you taking over my life??
  13. Here's a nice post Astra wrote which I thought was quite correct on the issue. Well written as well. Maybe a little browsing over previous pages next time and you could of found it yourself. I did see that and I thought that was a great way of describing it. I'm not sure how to apply it to a couple who are completely committed to each other having a child without being married though. (But then, it's late here, and I'm tired enough to not be thinking clearly)
  14. Did you ignore or just not notice all the posts that have stated there is a deeper issue than just the game?
  15. One thing I've noticed is that several people have expressed the opinion that a couple shouldn't have children out of wedlock. Would anyone be able to expand on that? And chalk me up as another person who's disagreeing with striker.
  16. As a parent and as someone that has battled (and beaten!) an addiction to internet, here are my thoughts: There is usually an underlying problem - bullying, low self esteem, problems with friends, family, peers etc - that leads to someone living their life out through a monitor and keyboard. Before an addiction to the internet/online game can be beaten, these issues need to be addressed. If the parents are unaware of the problems or unwilling to take them seriously and just address the addiction, the kid will find another addiction to take it's place. But having said that, the parents also need to do whatever they can to prevent this kind of addiction taking place. Monitor internet usage, play attention to things like how often the kid goes out with friends, dropping grades and of course, how much time is spent on the computer. If they don't become aware of the addiction until too late, then they need to take whatever steps are neccesary. Sit with them while the kid is on the computer. Cancel the internet. Stop them from going to friends places to use a computer. Talk to them about the situation. Try to find something other than the internet/game to occupy their time - sports, reading, building model ships. Nobody plans on becoming an addict of any kind. The parents in this article lose big time. Sitting around saying "What are we going to do?" isn't going to achieve anything. There are so many steps they could take to try and help their son and to me, it comes across as though they've just given up. I wonder if they'd react the same way if their son had become addicted to drugs?
  17. 1. Within 2 hours of FINALLY buying a dragon wc axe, getting white screen of death, and logging back to discover you only have an axe handle and someone's running off saying "SCORE!" 2. Training Agility (my least favourite skill) to 56 for a Quest and with only 50 xp to go, a new Quest comes out needing 59 Agility.
  18. Well.. there's a bunch of rcing worlds... and I think I've heard mention of worlds for other skills. But I was wondering if there was a theiving world? I'm trying to train theiving and the ardougne market seems a lot emptier than I remember it being. Is there a world where every one heads to train theiving and keep the market crowded so guards don't spot you every second attempt?
  19. ... You've got to be kidding me. *snip* I can go on and on. That's why I said 'remotely valid.' I doubt that the majority of players who are using the 'runescape is educational' argument, would have heard of a mace or scimitar if it wasn't for the game.
  20. What a freakin' joke. The only remotely valid point is learning about historical weapons and you can get more in depth knowledge from cracking open a book once in a while. :notalk:
  21. Well I finally hit 54 runecrafting... and it honestly feels like a bit of a letdown! lol OK, I'll be honest - naive little me had never bothered to look the prices of runes up on the forums and figured that 1k was the going price for a law rune and therefore, making them would an awesome way to make lots of money! :wall: Oh well, looks like it's back to the mage trees for easy money. The main problem with training a skill frantically to hit the lvl I want, is that once I get there I never want to do that skill again.
  22. *sigh* I had an awesome post in reply to this, then reread your post and realized mine was pointless. I completely agree with everything here - especially about rice & soy sauce! I'm never eating rice again. But I will add - there was a period where I was getting daily calls from bill collectors, my relationship was on the rocks due to financial stress, I was ill almost constantly from stress and facing the fact that I would probably have to move back in with my parents at the age of 25 and with a 1 yr old son - it was the small achievements in RS that helped. The little stupid things that will mean nothing once I log out of the game were the things that made me think "Hey.. I can get something right." Sad and lame? Yeah, I know. But had I been scammed during that period, I would have been thinking "Hell... I can't even get things right on a computer game." So uh, this turned out to be a lot more in depth than I ever meant it to be. And before anyone starts to question my state of mind, I have a big 'SANE' stamp that my partner puts on my forehead every night before bed.
  23. Personally, I think it's a great idea. Ranting and debating are two separate things, and I'd prefer to have a calm logical debate with someone than an argument because of a rant.
  24. Why work the job you hate, when the job you seek is right around the corner? What I mean is you shouldnt work just to be working, you should find a job that intrests you.Now Im not telling you to drop the job you have(if you dislike it)but rather look for your calling. This doesnt mean a actually job, it could be a job/hobby that you love to do.Work can be fun, if you put in the effort. Great article. I know I shouldn't bite, but sometimes it's just not that easy. If I need to earn a certain amount a week to pay the bills, keep a roof over my head and food on the table, I'm not going to take the job that I love but pays less over the job I hate but pays more. Over all though, very good article. My personal feeling is, I worked hard for my pixels so I do everything I can to protect them. I've lost a couple of things through stupidity and one thing through no fault of mine. I tell ya, losing my d'head axe, then getting the white screen of death annoyed me more than anything else in the game has.
