Not much today, spent most the day on the road. Did slay some more Aquanites - and got an Amulet of Ranging!
  2. FYI, I'm almost 30. I judge Jagex by the past. How many times have they had to "tweak" things? Then again, a drop rate is basically the same as a release rate.
  3. Mining and slayer today. Got 85 mining, did a 120 Kurask Task (Summona). Drops: White Top, Leaf-bladed sword. Started 130 Aquanites task, ACK! They're hard at 88 combat. Done about 40, no good drops. Nice to get props at Aquanites, what with me being low combat and wearing a Herblore cape.
  4. Thanks! Did the Kurask, now I have 130 Aquanites! That's going to take for freaking ever. But, it's worth 60 slayer points (20th Task, Summona). That'll put me at 204. Edit: YES, they're horrible. Need 1-2 monks per kill.
  5. 1996: Living Mines, but last XP was mining rune :-) Never thought I'd make it, but I did.
  6. Well, I don't trust Jagex to judge anything correctly :-P What I meant was, how would they decide which account wins one? Would anyone be able to buy one, or would they "release" a few a day?
  7. The only issue that I can see is for new items that drop rarely (eg, Dragon Pickaxe). How would that work?
  8. Actually, I'd be okay with it. If it was done right, we'd never even notice. Get rid of rares, and this would work fine. And I say that as a rares owner.
  9. Phantom goods - basically increasing supply by introducing more materials to the game, "invisibly" through the GE. So if they don't like the price of pure essence, add 50m of them or so to the GE until the price gets where they want it to be.
  10. Okay, think of it this way. We're starting a whole new game - how do you set up the trading system? I highly doubt making "manipulation" against the rules would work. How would you be able to tell? Plus, I seriously doubt people would stop. The problem really isn't individual manipulation - it's collusion. And really, in a completely closed economy (ie, RS), inflation is controllable. Especially with the GE. Jagex could start loading "phantom goods" into the market and removing mass amounts of cash from the game.
  11. You know, the more I think about it, the more I think they should have been removed from non-safe PvP. The reason? RS sucks at damage mitigation Max hit should NOT be going up. However, removing them for whining isn't acceptable.
  12. Mm, 22m cash, 2 green/1 blue mask, green partyhat, probably 60m in items (20m in adamant bars, 20m in oak planks, at least). Dunno what that adds up to - 400m?
  13. I noticed this too, buying irit and avantoe seeds. It's more fair, if that's what's happening.
  14. 1995: Ape atoll (80%), Advanced Gnome (20%) 71 Perfect laps, currently.
  15. Definitely not suggesting! Just a "what if", to see what might happen.
  16. Yup, I'm done. Have fun setting the rules in your little sandbox, because you won't get much creativity. Oh, and just because someone uses something as an example that's not 100% the same doesn't mean the point that was being made isn't valid. You'd be great in middle management.
  17. Not making it about WoW, kid. It's helpful to draw from other sources, don'tcha know? And yes, in WoW, on PvP servers you can attack anyone of the enemy faction, except in specific safe places.
  18. You know, this is a pretty cool idea. It basically makes PvP into a huge minigame. Maybe instead of GP you could have some other currency that only works on PvP worlds (perhaps already suggested)? I kinda like the WoW model of PvP. This is somewhat close to that (earning PK points vs earning honor).
  19. I can't decide if this is satire or not, because I'm not sure I could have written something funnier if I had tried. Either you're a genius of sarcasm, or an idiot. I'm going to go with idiot - because your post reads like a toddler's temper tantrum. Sure it's a game, but what fun is a game if you can faceroll your character into a good PvPer? Obviously you've never experienced the real world, which is funny because you throw that out there like it's some game-ending nuke. In the real world, in ANY world, accomplishment is about working for it, not having it given to you. I'd be totally surprised if you weren't one of the "OMG PWNED YOU N33B" yelling Pkers. In other words, the pre-pubescent pond scum of the game. Edit: Way too slow. And Danq, that's why I am glad that I'm retired Staff AND retired Mod. :-)
  20. Then let's just give everyone free copies of the best gear - after all, making money doesn't affect combat level. Geez, it's about the same as a freaking strength pure - they're stronger than they look. And really, who but the best are going to even have that high of herblore? Chances are you won't even meet someone who did. And frankly, if you did meet them, they'd kill you anyways because they have the cash for the best. I don't even PvP and this ticks me off.
  21. Ah, so again we see that a few whiny players have Jagex's marble pouch firmly in hard.
  22. 1994: Ivy Ivy is insane - hopefully they'll come along with something similar for mining. Basically, no-drop skilling. I've started buying the unfinished broad bolt supply every day for a little extra cash. The first thing I'm going to get with my slayer points is the ability to make slayer rings - after that I may do broad bolts just to save some cash. Current task is Kurask, though I don't expect I'll do that for a while yet.
  23. Sure, making money can be fun. I enjoy seeing my cash pile grow, but I HATE spending it. I like how WoW's economy went. Once you had cash for mounts, money wasn't really all that important. All of the best stuff was bind on pickup, and skills were quickly maxed with just a little effort.
  24. With the insanity that is GE prices, inflation, PvP, and merchant clans, I've been thinking of what we might do differently. The question is, how can we tweak trade so that "making money" stops being the only skill that matters? Personally, I'm not a big fan of the whole money grubbing ethos that is popular in this game. How about getting rid of player trading of raw ingredients? That is, when I mine an adamant ore, it's then untradeable. Raws will still be buyable from shops with generous but limited stocks (decreasing as the raws increase in level). Huge money sink, materials merchanting destroyed, and leveling the playing field. Weapons and final products would still be sellable. How about limiting GE interaction? It could be 1m total cash flow through GE a day, or 10k per QP, or 10k per total level. Other thoughts? Remember, the goal is shift the focus from "how can I make more gp" to "how can I have fun".
  25. It's the socialists. They take the swordfish out of the working woman's pocket, to give to the guy sitting on the beach. Distribution of wealth, and all that.
