  1. Damn I wonder how many ranks I will drop in summoning due to this as i'm not participating at all.
  2. I just discovered the beauty that is super mario world.
  3. As somebody said to me yesterday (or was it the day before?), The RS community would make excellent lawyers because they are able to find loopholes in anything. What the JMOD said the other day is basically what people should adhere to, one input, one output. If holding down a button creates multiple outputs, such as holding down the letter 'a' on your keyboard, it should not be used to play the game. Now I know people will find ways around this, but that is how i and i think a lot of others interoperate the rules. On the question of mouse-keys, if used correctly they are perfectly legal, but if used in a way which creates multiple outputs to the game, then it is not.
  4. That is exactly what people are saying. If you hold down a button and get multiple clicks, it should be against the rules.
  5. Re downloaded it yesterday, after getting a craving to play it again. I don't want to play as a human fighter this time however, as I want a different back story. I might try going for an Elf ranger so i can pick locks myself and not need leilianna.

I was going to download the beta but it was going to take 2 days to download, so gave up on the idea. I doubt I will buy the full game, it would take something spectacular for me to buy a game with Ubi's new DRM. That system is going to cost them so much in sales.
  7. On the fact of it's legality, I doubt Jagex will consider this illegal considering they allow programmable keyboards to be used like mine, where I can assign any keys in any order I like to make doing things like dropping one flowing pattern of keystrokes. But he is not doing that. what he is doing is tricking the game into thinking he is clicking the mouse x number of times a second when in fact he is holding down one button. Assigning keys is perfectly legal as you have to manually press them in order for an action to take place. Are you sure that's the case? My understanding was that he was assigning multiple buttons to being a left click button, and simply swiping his finger along those buttons. Like, if the keys A, Z, S, X, D, and C were all left click buttons, you could easily strike all 6 and essentially click 6 times in quick succession, much faster than you would be able to normally, but you're still pressing all 6 keys. Well he manages to click 28 herbs in 0.9 seconds, while moving the mouse along all the herbs. It surely is not possible to hit or press buttons that quickly. If it was maybe 5 or 6 then it would be possible, but 28 is not.

  9. It utilises mouse keys in some way, so whatever you need for mousekeys to work you will need if you want to do it. But i will admit, if you have ordered the mouse solely for this it is money badly spent as it has a high chance of being against the rules. But if you want it for general use then fair enough
  10. The way he is using the mouse to do it as far as i can understand is that he has made a certain button on his mouse lock a mousekey down which is making the game think he is clicking the mouse at an astounding speed, when in fact he is just holding down one button and moving the mouse. This is the software making an input, not him, which is not allowed. I think it is fine for a user to use hardware to their benefit if they can as long as they are making the actions that the game recognises. As soma has stated, his mouse makes his clicks much more accurate, but he is still making the inputs on the mouse which the game is recognising. I do agree that the system should be changed to stop this happening, and in the majority of runescape it could not with the game working in it's set 'ticks', but a few activities bypass those.
  11. As I said, it is obvious. In the video the user is clearly cleaning a whole inventory of herbs with one click of a button (or four, maybe he does one row per button?). That is against the rules. How is it that you do not get that? If he had for instance, assigned each button to do one herb then clicked all the buttons in quick succession, it would be fine, but he is not. EDIT: Stonewall, look specifically at point 3:
  12. Indeed, it is not the assigning buttons on the mouse to keys, it is having those keys able to make multiple inputs for one click of the button. As he says, one input, one action.
  13. So I can write a quick script that will click 28 positions in the inventory for me and assign it to the F1 key? Its legal because im pressing F1 right? While im at it, I might aswell make a script that pressed deposit all and withdraw 28 herbs for the F2 key, thats legal too right because im pressing F2? Exactly. Mouse keys which is think zarfot uses need you to press them for every mouse click you wish to make, meaning you are manually clicking. What is done in the video is not manual clicking, the clicking is done automatically which is against the rules. It took us ages to get clear rules on mouse keys, so it will take us a while to get clear rules for this, but It is obviously cheating. Those that cannot see that just want to use it for their own gain, or something similar. Think logically sir. If it needs time to get clear on this, then it isn't obviously cheating. The only way to make such a preposterous statement with any degree of authenticity would be to post the rule stating that this is against the rules. Otherwise, it isn't obvious. Heck, if it were obvious, then we wouldn't be having this discussion. It might be debatable, or it might seem apparent, but it isn't obvious. It is obvious though. The reason it would take a long time to get a clear statement from Jagex is because first telling them about it would be difficult, then having them understand what is going on. If you can talk directly to a Jmod about it to ask then go ahead, but it is usually a very long process getting hold of one. I don't get how you cannot see it as cheating. He is clicking much faster than is humanly possible and thus not doing the clicking himself which is against the rules.

  15. Basically, if you are not manually clicking (which you are still doing with mouse keys) it is considered against the rules I think. As he is not doing the clicking, i cannot see any way that this would not be considered cheating.
  16. Looking at the video I would definitely call it cheating. It is an unfair advantage over other users in the game. Regular mouse keys can be done by anybody so and does not offer as much advantage, but what he has done gives such a large advantage that it is unbalanced and unfair to other players who do not have x type of mouse.
  17. This forum is for artwork made from scratch, if you wish to post in-game screen-shots, you will get a much better audience for them in this thread: http://forum.tip.it/topic/257549-post-all-rs-screenshots-videos-and-sounds-here/page__st__1620
  18. Please post anything WoW related in this thread: http://forum.tip.it/topic/92018-the-offical-world-of-warcraft-thread/ Thank you
  19. I agree that the beginners market is getting very thin at the moment in Runescape. It may be because i have finished school and cannot see players spreading word of the game or whether it just does not happen any more, but I have seen a decline in the number of first time players.
  20. I somehow managed to forget Action man. Had so many action man toys it was unbelievable. I remember some sort of submarine thing which you could put him inside, then out your arm up to the elbow into the back and manually control grabber on the front of it. Also remember how the cheap plastic boots for some sets, especially the snow outfit I had were almost impossible to get on an off.
  21. If you want to advertise your blog, do so in your signature. the reason it seems simple to keep with hits when they are around like 32, 50 or 46 is because we are used to them and can almost instinctively know how much that is in % of our hp and act accordingly. After a month or two, it will be exactly the same for these numbers I will guarantee you. That is the only argument here then it would seem, that the numbers are harder to get used to, but you will get used to them. The problem here is there is not compromise. The only options are to keep hp at 10x or revert it back to how it was, which is not going to happen. Adding a decimal or a toggle would not be possible. It is a built in part of the engine and not an interface item.
  22. Just think how much better at maths we might become.
  23. Firstly, where else should I put it? It's my personal place to put things I write that aren't worth their own thread. No one is forcing you to read the blog itself. Secondly, the main argument of your side seems to be that "it's not any different." If this is the case, there's nothing new to enjoy. How am I being selfish? My thread clearly suggested a decimal (more of a white dot in the hit splat than a mathematical decimal) or toggle to show the third digit or not. The definition of selfish is only caring about one's own needs or wants. My suggestion would be beneficial to everyone. In fact, if anyone is being selfish, it is you. You got your way so you now you ONLY want this way. Don't say it would be a waste of time to make this change. They wasted enough time multiplying everything by 10. "But the new potions that make your max HP higher..." Oh, right, because it's not possible to have 110/99 as your base (using base loosely) HP, right? You claim I'm jumping on the "wow bandwagon," yet I played it back in August 08 for a week. I didn't think I was "so cool" because I hit higher than a level 138 would in RS as a new player in WoW. To scale, it means nothing. This was honestly a pointless waste of resources. If they decide to make the toggle, they should let the kiddies set it at x10, x100, x1000, x10000, etc, etc so they can feel as "cool" as they want. Problem solved? Because it was possible to hit 0.1-0.9 before, right? If we want to look at your blog, we would go to your blog, saying that a link goes to 'x' when it goes to your blog is just annoying. I does not matter if you have played WoW, runescape, silkroad, my little pony online or any other online game to be jumping on the bandwagon. Just because you have played WoW does not mean that you cannot be jumping on the 'its too like WoW bandwagon'. Prior to this update, very few people would list the damage numbers as the reason Runescape is unique. Most MMo's I have played you will usually end up hitting around the 5000 mark by your level 40's. Compare that to a level 40 in Runescape who can barely scratch a 300. We are still closer to our original hits than to other MMO's. The reason I think you are being selfish is because you are taking an immediate dislike to something that makes very little difference to your gaming. I have seen it done so many times in the past it seems pointless to even argue with you as you will probably have forgotten in two months. Just try to think back to the amount of ranters when the UI was changed, now just as many would rant if it was changed back because it has become part of RS. Things change, and seeing as apart from the look of three digit hit splats, there are no negative in-game effects of the update, people will forget about it. Also, why is it that people think 'kiddies' like to hit higher? I wouldn't have minded hitting less 0's when iI first joined RS, it is a very valid reason to make the update. You forget that Jagex is a business and a foundation of business is to keep new customers coming back.
  24. I would say that if exp is not a problem, smith the item with the highest amount of bars used per item for the highest bar you can use. This is because the exp gained slowly drops, so you will want to be getting as much exp as possible for the start.
  25. You'll hit 500's the same amount of times as you hit 50's before this update. People seriusly need to read the update before complaining... If his max was 50 before, he had a 1/50 chance of maxing before. Now he has a 1/500 chance of hitting his max. Also, Nomad now hits harder and requires more food thanks to the awful update. One last thing... if you're boss hunting, are you going to be able to add up 145+387+249 in the amount of time you could add 14, 38, and 24? Thought not. Update was a pointless, waste of resources that could have been used on something beneficial to the game. If the little kids enjoy hitting 400s, they can go play WoW or any other copy of it. RS is the last unique MMO and I can assure you, if more updates like this follow, there will be no more unique MMOs. Seriously, this isn't World of RuneCraft. We aren't the people who get pleasure ( ) out of hitting high. If you think you're so cool by doing that, go play any copy of the same MMO. I'm sure you'll have fun? EDIT: Here's a Copy of my Epic Rant on RSOF. Yes it's long, but it is worth it. It's not only about the HP update, but about how the whole game suffers for a small minority, unnecessarily. It was ignored in Jagex Lite (suck up forum), so I'm going to guess the suck-ups agree with me but are too afraid because "Jagex won't give me my crown." Firstly, hiding a link to your blog in that link is annoying, please don't do it again. You seem to have such a selfish attitude to your gaming here. Am I not allowed to appreciate something just because you think it is bad? Why should that immediately make me and anybody else wanting to congratulate Jagex suck ups? Prior to this, if you asked anybody what the unique features of Rs were, they would say the graphics, the vast amounts of skills, the intricate economy etc. Last on the list would be hitting low. I am getting rather frustrated with players jumping on the 'copy of WoW' bandwagon, you only think it because somebody else has said it, and it isn't even a valid argument. WoW and most other MMO's, you will commonly be hitting 5k+ after around level 30, here on RS, your average level 30 will struggle to hit above 150. If that is your argument, then we are still incredibly unique. A player now has exactly the same chance of hitting on or above their previous maximum. I thought players would be happy that they can now hit fractionally higher, but still, people find a way to whine about it. I will agree with Rien that aesthetically, hitting three digit figures looks rather unappealing, however, I do think Jagex may change the look of hit splats sometime in the future to suit 3 digit hits.
