  1. Stonewall does have a point though. A lot of game trailers are like that. The trailer for the most recent Battlefield game is a bunch of unexplained, jumbled together photorealistic battle scenes (You can easily understand what the game is about though, if only because every 'modern' military shooter out there is about fighting terrorists). Mass Effect 2 was the same, but with more science fiction and Martin Sheen narrating it. The point is less to say "This is what the game is about" and more "This is awesome, buy it". The cinematic trailer does its best to do that, no idea how the commercial does. You don't quite seemto have understood my point either :( Maybe I wasn't able to phrase it properly... A trailer can consist of just battle scenes put together. For a shooter, that probably makes sense. And I don't necessarily expect a trailer to tell me the advantages of this specific game. However, in my opinion the rs trailer is not combat scenes put together, but jumbled together. Badly. They don't make it seem epic, they don't make it seem interesting it's just some random scenes that really tell you nothing. I just think it's a really bad ad. So are you saying it is bad cinematically, not content wise? A badly constructed advert, by the advertising company that Jagex will have hired to create it, possibly the animation company which produced the original cinematic trailer? Do you agree that many other trailer show next to nothing of gameplay, and often actually don't explain the game at all. For example, the Prototype 2 trailer currently doing the rounds on UK TV.
  2. I've heard it will encompass the whole continent, which actually worries me. Mainly, will it mean new TES games have to conform in some way to their map, and the same goes for their lore.
  3. I completely agree. No point complaining about people who complain though, as they did exactly the same on the cinematic trailer thread even though very rarely do cinematic trailers show gameplay. I'm surprised they have finallly branched out from word of mouth, but It's probably because they have lacked the funds to do it. While Jagex have always made a good amount of money, TV adverts can be very expensive, if you actually want them to be seen by people.
  4. Had too much work to do to get involved in this. This thread always comes up when i have assignments.
  5. People pirate things which cost a penny. Argument debunked. I agree with ALG that TPB does essentially distribute by pointing people to where the copyrighted material is. An example which is similar are fake goods sellers in large cities. There will often be a 'hook' who will then take you to the person to make the transaction of the fake goods. Both are involved in the trade.
  6. I agree with the intention and I have no problem with them doing so. However, I do think more needs to be done.
  7. I did one round but it's really awkward to draw. Whenever I click and drag my thing rarely actually draws.
  8. I think RCT3 might use different sums to wor out the excitement/scariness levels etc. I'm downloading rct2 again just to load up my saves and look at my levels.
  9. Congratulations. Enjoy the responsibilities (and the flack from banned users  )
  10. Sounds unfortunate that Jagex have been caught in this. By the looks of it, there is nothing they could have done. I just hope the problem is rectified with the owners of those numbers who have been wrongly charged.
  11. I'm not American, but I hope to god that Obama wins as I'm scared shitless of all the Republican candidates.
  12. I brought Dead Space from Game as well, not got around to playing it yet. After seeing you're FB status, I don't think I want to :ohnoes: Got Rayman Origins and Goldeneye 007, both for the Wii. Rayman Origins is just such an incredible game. I've never been a fan of platformers but it's just so different to what I've tried before.
  13. For the moment... Only a year to wait for the next series :(
  14. I think the Removal of free trade really dealt a killing blow to the graveyard. Most of the pking community seemed to completely leave the game, and even though it's now been reinstated, Pking just doesn't have the same community as it did 3-5 years ago. Me and a few other mods attempted to bring the graveyard back to life at one point, but there were so few people around it was impossible to even do a simple event.
  15. Awkward Zombie and Virtual Shackles are two great gaming comics.
  16. 'crunkcore' and 'progressive metal' describe nothing. Apart from being metal in the second one, neither of those terms describe anything in reality. But I'll leave it as that, I just can't get into it.
  17. No they couldn't. Most of their trailers using in-game graphics have been fairly sub standard. It's a limitation of the game engine that cinematic movie making is just not possible. But it's obvious a lot of people just throw Jagex hate onto this, a non-Jagex product, even though it is the norm in the game industry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRoYEBfM_3A
  18. Isn't the point so that you can convey to others the type of music? Most of the terms used to describe these incredibly niche music styles will go straight over the head of most people, defeating the point. It seems to me that people have lost the ability to use descriptive words, instead just combine them into a term they wish to use. Anyway, yeah that's just something I can't get into. If somebody said to me that they like 'crunkcore', I'd probably just walk off.
  19. I'm always torn when it comes to topics of creating laws for the internet. On the one hand, I do believe that eventually the internet does need some form of policing. It is incredibly dangerous to have no restrictions on information, and we have all seen the stupid things idiots can do when they have the ability to freely exchange and grab information (anonymous, London Riots etc). I also think that some of the things people do online and through the use of internet anonymity are disgusting, such as mass defacing of companies and websites, hacking personal information and completely ruining individual people's lives. If it were to be done through other means, they would very likely be arrested and charges brought against them, but because they cannot be realistically traced with our current systems, nothing can be done. However, I also believe that some forms of anonymity are good, such as being able to do things which are not dangerous and breaking laws, but which may be socially shunned. So in terms of this attempt on trolling, I believe it to be good spirited, but without much wider reform of the internet, it will never actually be a good thing.
  20. Where the lead is screaming. It's quite self explanatory. And on that note, over categorised music. It annoys me when people get annoyed that their favourite music is classed in a broader genre and not some super niche which nobody has ever heard of but is totally what it is.
  21. Just had the most annoying game of Tug Of War. The TOW server seems to be full of people doing, well, god knows what at the moment. We had a 10v10 game going, but there only seemed to be 2 people from my team actually attacking, and about 4 of the enemy. 4-5 of my team were going the opposite direction and building crap, the others were afk. the same went for the other team too. But because they had more actually attacking, we didn't stand a chance. It's seriously started to frustrate me that there seems to be more non-players than actual players now. People will go off and randomly explore the map for [bleep] knows what reason, or go off in a group and build a random structure miles from either base or the battles. I honestly wish I was an admin and could simpl tell them to play or to [bleep] off.
  22. I really liked it. I think the style quite accurately reflects Runescapes style. There were a fair amount of images in there from the game, and they merged in very nicely with the animated graphics.
  23. To any who have watched the last episode:
  24. Yeah I had difficulty at first with the new Spartacus, but I gave him a bit of slack as I knew it was probably hard stepping into the role after the death of Andy Whitfield. After the first 2-3 episodes, he really starts to gel with the role and the series really takes off, with surprises coming from every angle. I think this show must be one of the most under-rated in a while, I barely hear anybody talking out about it, but then those that do seem to really enjoy it.
