  1. Good job by her if you ask me. I don't know why everybody is so shocked about this?
  2. I never really looked into it. But it seems logical that a color can provoke an emotion. And that each color brings new emotions with it. At first I used the signature purely for the European Championship of Football thread, because I am from Holland. But once we were out I decided to keep it. I really like the color, makes me happy. And I have heard it makes other people feel nice too, so why not keep it. I don't know what emotion Orange officialy causes. Maybe you could tell me? Lenticular_J, I promised to recommend you something. You like some of the more 'crazy' stuff, so I will recommend you a psychedelic band, my pick is Tomorow with their self titled album. click that link for more information.
  3. Did he add a cool blue filter to it, so that it looks futuristic? I bet he's got a Jim Morrison poster too.
  4. My room. From the hall: http://i35.tinypic.com/2qu6khu.jpg http://i35.tinypic.com/27ysrrt.jpg Inside the room: http://i33.tinypic.com/2dtuagj.jpg http://i38.tinypic.com/359bdar.jpg http://i36.tinypic.com/n8c2b.jpg http://i38.tinypic.com/1zl3w54.jpg http://i37.tinypic.com/10i7wc6.jpg http://i37.tinypic.com/2mdlxc5.jpg http://i36.tinypic.com/5d6uc5.jpg http://i38.tinypic.com/330hj5c.jpg And...Specially for tip.it. What's happening under my bed? http://i36.tinypic.com/fmq2cw.jpg oooh. What's so special about LP's room? Does his bed look like a race car or something?
  5. Never seen it before. Nice fragment. A bit on the sentimental side though. The music that is used is horrible.
  6. if I knew what "what-the-hell-are-they-doing-to-that-lobster kind of alternative" means I would happily recommend you something.
  7. Looking for attention, as usual. Who isn't?
  8. Living Interesting short by Frans Zwartjes. The film has got two characters. Frans himself, and his wife Trix. They are in their new house, and they just film. Crazy angles, and very sexy (like more of his work). I really love it. I realize it's not for everyone though. Trafic The last Monsieur Hulot film made. I think that it is less good than the three before this one. It's not so strange, because the development of Hulot kind of stopped with Play Time. Which is a shame already, because it made the movies extra interesting. And Play Time was really 'big' but also a flop, so it was hard to get something equaly ambitious on. Still it's a nice movie, with the usual Tati chaos. For example: there's constantly people speaking Dutch, English and French in the same scene. There's something else I noticed. And that's Bert Haanstra's influence on this movie. It's not so strange, because the two movie makers have got the same ideas on making comedy; both observe the ordinary life and find comedy in that. And Haanstra also worked on this movie. But I would have never expected that a Tati movie would look like a Haanstra movie in so many ways. Beauty and the Beast In my memory this was a very magical movie. Not so strange, I was about 6 when I saw it. Obviously there was less magic this time. But it still is my favorite Disney movie. Today I went to the beach, when we got back I tried to watch another Zwartjes short, but I was so tired that I fell asleep. :o
  9. What a genius, that neighbour of yours.
  10. I'm not really speaking quality wise; I haven't seen the movie. But it cost about 120.000.000 to make, and it cost 80 million to market. And in total it didn't even bring up 100.000.000. :
  11. The series has got hurdes of fans though. And generally it was showed in two or three evenings. Raymond Bernard's version of Les Misérables is also pretty long. Five hours and a bit, especially for a movie that old it is quite something.
  12. Oh, congratulations. That really is a lot of change! Of course this thread isn't only about you. I'm going to talk about myself too. Because I want to get in shape a bit as well. After two and a half year of doing no sports I started again yesterday. 8-) Fitness and swimming. Three times a week. First fitness, and then swimm for anout 45 minutes. I feel a little stiff now, but that will get better in a month or two. But, congratulations, great job!
  13. Nice choices yourself, Adio. I should really get Dekalog sometimes. I don't know where I'm going to find the time to watch it though. :?
  14. Still You Shook Me. Which isn't even a Zeppelin song. But still. http://youtube.com/watch?v=_LEk2Ytpe3Q I wonder why I am the only one that mentioned it. There's a fantastic version on the BBC sessions record by the way. I thought it was the second version on that record that I liked best. It's been ages since I last listened to that. :) No, it's the shorter version that I liked so much. It's on you tube even. http://youtube.com/watch?v=bjt2U1AeC9I&feature=related
  15. . It may actually beat titanic as the highest grossing film ($600m for titanic). I guess Warner is making up for the flop that was called Speed Racer.
  16. Haha, that's going to be one hell of a crazy band.
  17. Haha. This movie is number one on the IMDB list. Not that people should take that list too serious, but this really does it. :P I will be going next friday.
  18. Nice purchases, Sumpta! Some things that I got myself the past few days. Movies: Bill Douglas Trilogy (BFI) Judex/Nuits Rouges (Masters of Cinema) pre-order Salesman (Masters of Cinema) Le Silence de la mer (Masters of Cinema) Frau im Mond (Masters of Cinema) Luis Bunuel collection (that obscure object of desire, the discreet charm of the bourgeoisie, Diary of a chambermaid, phantom of liberty, milky way, tristana, belle du jour, la joven The Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion (blue underground) Salo, or the 120 Days of Sodom (Criterion Collection) the re-issue, need to keep my salo collection up to date. Pre-order by the way Larisa Shepitko: Eclipse Series 11 pre-order
  19. Un Chien Andalou It had been a while since I last saw this movie. When I was on vacation I read a book on Bunuel and it really made me want to see his movies again. So when I got back from vacation the first thing I did was watch this movie. And I still really love it. It's so, how do you say it, mysterious...Intangible. The one moment you are are terribly shocked, the other moment it's hilarious. A fantastic movie that really tore down all conventions. Man: Hey, my mouth is gone, Woman: I don't care, I'll do my lips, man: It's a little bald. Here with your armpit hair, Woman: Pff, then I'll just go. Hilarious. Le Charme discret de la bourgeoisie Another fantastic Bunuel. From his later period in France, with Carriere helping in the screenplay. It's really bizare as usual. I love the satire on the Bourgeoisie; it's not too sharp, or unfriendly, but in a kind of discreet way. I also love the actors in this movie. Espeically Fernando Rey, man, what a hero he is.
  20. Not true. Birth of a nation was made in 1915, by then already hundreds of feature films had been made. If you don't like the material 'Birth' deals with, try Griffiths Intolerance: Love's Struggle Through the Ages, which he had made in reaction on Birth. Broken Blossoms is also very good. Andy Warhol has made some really long movies. Empire runs about 500 minutes I think. War and Peace (the russian version is pretty long). A personal favorite of mine is Béla Tarr'sSátantangó. Clocking at 450 minutes. It's long, but I loved every minute of it. I doubt most of the users here will like it though. It's been released in the UK and you can get it for 16 pounds from play.com. Which is pretty cheap. Of course there is also Fassbinder's Berlin Alexanderplatz. Officiale it's a miniseries, but since last year it has been restored and it has played in cinemas. It clocks at 930 minutes.
  21. I'd rather listen to a good rap beat than a dream theater composition.
  22. Heima Yes! I could finally see the Sigur Ros concert film! I specially took time for it to see it before I go on holiday. And it was fantastic! The music, the landscapes. The feeling ultimate joy that they manage to bring over. It is fantastic. A must for the Sigur Ros fans, and for those who don't know the band this is a great start! I can't wait for the two concerts I'm going to see this year!
  23. He has released a new album last week, have you heard that one already?
