  1. Somebody didn't read this thread...Ah well, all your points are wrong: 1.) They frequently idolize violent behavior and the use of degrading language. Violence is a topic in hip-hop and rap, but it is in every other genre as well. Hell, violence is a part of global culture. If it's bad for hip-hop to rap about violence, then what about rock? Metal? Movies? Television? Video games? To bash hip-hop for violence, wether it be promoting it or simply reciting it, but to leave out all other forms of entertainment, is just ignornace. And swearing, it gives a stronger image of the emotion the writer is trying to convery. What are you gonna take more seriously: I don't give a damn! I don't give a darn! Go to hell! Go to heck! And once again, swearing is not just hip-hop, just about every other genre, and other means of entertainment, have swearing. Generic arguments against hip-hop are fail, buddy. 2. The "music" they compose requires next to no talent to create, and follows the weak "if it's loud, then it's music" mindset. You're kidding, right? I would love to see you create a beat that would meet Dr. Dre or DJ Premier's level. Or write some lyrics that would meet Nas' level of lyricism. To compose a beat requires a unique talent, and knowledge in ALL forms of instruments. On top of that, you have to be able to sucessfully sample from a different song to provide uniqueness from other beats (great examples are the "Touch the Sky" and "Good Life" beats, both composed Kanye West, successfully sample songs "Move on Up, by Curtis Mayfield", and "PYT, by Michael Jackson," respectivly). To write lyrics to it is just as difficult. Your lyrics must match the flow and tone of the beat, and on top of that, rhyme. Once that's down, there's so many things you do: tell a story, convey a moral, deliver a message to the listener, everything else you convey through other genres of music. Kanye West rapping about the war in Sierra Leone takes no talent? Nas rapping about the passing of his mother takes no talent? Talib Kweli rapping about the birth of his child, and the joy it brought him, takes no talent? Common personifying hip-hop as a women, and telling her story, takes no talent? Eminem telling a fictiona story where he takes the place as one of his disgruntled fans who is about to be a father takes no talent? Bear in mind these rappers did make all of those songs, with flows that matched the beat, tones that matched the beat, and it all rhymed. Your ignorance to the effort that goes into making hip-hop songs shows your level of unintelligence regarding this topic. 3. None of thier compositions follow the rules of musical theory. Do you even know what musical theory IS? I took a one year class on musical theory, and by the looks of things, hip-hop and rap songs have: -Melody -Rhythm -Form -Pitch -Dynamics -Texture -Harmony -Consonance/dissonance -Dynamics Hell, every song has these. Therefore, hip-hop not only follows musical theory, but personifies, because in a hip-hop song, figuring out the melody, pitch, form, and especially rhythm is incredibly easy and obvious. 4. The noise lacks the quaility or depth of high level composers (Beethoven, Bach, etc) Just an all-around ignorant comment. Hip-hop's composers, such as Just Blaze, DJ Premier, Dr. Dre, and Kanye west, all have plethoras of beats that swell in quality and depth. Hell, Beethoven's "Für Elise" has even been SAMPLED in hip-hop songs, such as Nas' song, I Can, where he tells stories of African history, and warns young children to avoid drugs, material splurging, and raises the moral of the youth: http://youtube.com/watch?v=FzBVqik8I7Y 5. It outlines the worst social philosophy in the world; "The only way to bring yourself up is by pulling others down." ' Your post practiced this very philosophy. And this couldn't be more wrong. Hip-hop supports and personifies hope, unity, and community spirit, and these were some of the foundations when hip-hop was founded in the '70s. Hip-hop has supported the world banding together to make the world a better place. But hip-hop's message would never truly get conveyed throughout the world, due to people ingorant to the genre, and have their own uninformed opinions that they generalize over litterally thousands of songs. Much like what you're doing, actually. Hip-hop over the last 30 years, has changed, a lot. It's been commercialized and corporately raped to hell and back, but it can still be a beautiful genre. More people just need to give it a chance. That doesn't mean try hip-hop on the radio, or watch Sucker Free on MTV, I mean, really, truely give it a chance. ....Why hasn't this topic been locked yet again? It's just people talking about how they hate other genres, and such topics have been locked before...
  2. Poinsoned arrows are seldom used, and VERY underrated. Easy poisoning, man! \
  3. If you go to Catherby, talk to the female tradecrew member at the port. She hasn't been given the face lift! Her body and mugshot are the way everything was pre-graphics update! (I'll try to get pics)
  4. Yes, yes it does. (except for the poster above me. Sorry dude :( . But as I said earlier in this thread, this solution is gonna help everybody, GL getting HD to work or finding a new graphics card)
  5. Looks fake.... Aw man, I wanted to go to tutorial island again, and sit there fishin' shrimp and killing rats with all the level 3's... And they would look my 98-level like " :o  :o  "

4chan destroyed my favorite hip-hop/rap site, SOHH, and covered the main page in pictures promoting racism to black people, as well as antisemitism. It's a long, long story. Now the site is back as a blog, but it was the most popular hiphop site on the net... Operation Chanology is great, but still, some of the stuff they do is messed up.
  7. :| You can't be serious. This solution is no less "realistic" than the other one. This isn't some competition between threads, its two different solutions for an annoying problem. That thread is for those who have graphic cards that might not meet the standards anyway. Besides, by the looks of things, this thread has helped far more people anyway. What is the deal with people hating on this thread? Yeah, its an extremely simple solution, but that doesn't mean it's obvious, or by any means unrealistic. People need to chill, as long as people are being helped by either thread, I fail to see the big problem...
  8. Or they could just dump all the useless ones like Jekyl and Hyde, Drunken Dwarf, Evil Bob, etc. I hate almost all of the events.
  9. You're on the Tip.It "Music, Movies, and Television" boards, did you expect any different? I sure didn't. Next to NOBODY on this forum have actually listened to rap, or given it a chance. You can tell just by what people are saying. "All they do is rap about money, clothes, women, and they're all African American". The last one is just totally ignorant, but the former just SHOWS they don't know Talib Kweli, Common, Nas, any of those guys. MTV and the radio aren't hip-hop. It's like saying My Chemical Romance or Panic at the Disco are rock. Rap covers topics as broad as any other genre, I'd love to see someone to prove me otherwise. I can't even see how this topic got this far. These are always just undercover "Let's bash rap and country" threads. A lot of the bashing is of the bandwagon variety, people just hate on it because everyone else does. Now that doesn't mean its not justified, since the majority of rap fits the general stereotype people pit against it. There is some good rap, but trying to defend the entire genre using just a few honorable artists is a losing battle. Don't get me wrong, there is quite the fair share of bad rappers who are out for nothing more than a ringtone sale. If you look over hip-hop's 30-year history, the good does outweigh the bad. Trust me. But if you look at hip-hop's current generation (which I would say is about '98/'99-now), the bad does outweigh the good. It depends on what scale you look at it on. But these stupid generalizations are just utterly disgusting. For real, nobody goes to MTV to find out about a genre, so why would do the same for rap and hip-hop? If I ask someone on this board to help get into metal, or alternative, the last places they're gonna point to are MTV or the radio. Ey, Nas is my favorite my rapper buddy. 8-) I like Nas because the wide amount of topics he's covered, his crazy lyricism and storytelling abilities, and his ability to make good albums (ignore Nastradamus and Street's Disciple for a second :P ). Besides, he made 3 of my favorite albums ever, Illmatic (widely regarded as the greatest hip-hop album EVER, the first album to recieve 5 mic from The Source, before it became corrupt), It Was Written, and Stillmatic.
  10. Yeah all the faces look very different.. ..For example, when you log in, you see the old man from Draynor, as well as some chick with glasses, and those two look far from clones. ;)
  11. I almost did the same thing. But I just couldn't accept the fact that my PC couldn't handle this update, despite being able to handle Xbox-calibur games. That's another $60+ saved (which will go to the 360 I'm getting in afew weeks =P~ ). :
  12. Adult Swim has fallen off something serious. The last new show that came onto Adult Swim I got into was the Boondocks, which is my favorite non-cancelled TV show. Funny, true, fresh, all that stuff. But I saw one episode of the Tim and Eric Awesome show. :wall:

  14. What's the limit on steel/iron platebodys? is it 100?
  15. The lag will die soon enough, no worries. :)
  16. They need to throw some rapcore in this man, when all you got is one Run-DMC song (Walk this Way). Rapcore is starvin', man.
  17. I found it useful, and the file is very, very tiny, so whatever helps. \
  18. It's already helped two other people (sorry to the guy it didn't help though). Hate to say I told you so guys, but.... I told ya so! :D It's not add-ons either man, because I've tried AOL, AND Firefox with no luck. This works man, plain and simple. It's not so much the user's computer as it probably just a glitch that Jagex needs to fix up, that's all. It's helping people already, so what's the problem. You need to chill man, I only made this to help people, not to gain some pride boost from a stickied thread or something. :|
  19. I don't have pics, but: Dhide shows off a lil bit of skin lol When I change into fullscreen, the screen flashes for like 10 seconds....Go figure... ...And finally high detial doesn't even work on the internet, I have to use the Windows client....
  20. That was harsh, but still,
  21. Nope, downloaded the latest Java version this morning. EVERYTHING is up-to-date. I'm just trying to help out people with the same problem as me, that's it. I said in the first post this isn't the end-all solution, it should help some.
  22. Well HD doesn't work for me and a couple people on the RSOF when using internet explorer, but the client does the trick. It is making a difference, I can testify to it. I wouldn't just make something like this up. So basically no, I didn't get the same results from IE. [sarcasm] Himm. Funny how a browser is only 120 KB, but requires internet explorer 6 or above to run (http://www.runescape.com/kbase/view.ws?guid=Downloads_and_Wallpapers). Jagex must be programming geniuses. We should talk to MozDev about this, it makes their 8 MB Firefox look like a huge bloated pig![/sarcasm] The only reason I could see for it working in one and not the other is some sort of addons you have causing conflict, which appears to be fairly uncommon with the latest version of Java. If you won't believe me, just navigate to any website that shows you what your browser is through the RS "client". Whatever then. If it works, it works, I could care less if it's just IE without the address bar.
  23. The armor didn't change, just the ghosts. Yeha it did, I'm wearin Torag's right now, the beer belly is gone. See for your self, they even changed it in the low detail version. \
