  1. Blasphemy!!! Amon Amarth - Cry of the Blackbirds
  2. Joke? I've had a listen to some of their stuff and I wouldn't really call it metal. It's all ambient eerie stuff. Anyone got some good tracks to start off with?
  3. Tried getting your girlfriend to quit with you? You could also give yourselves goals ie. If you go three months without smoking you can have a holiday.
  4. Despicable Heros - Arch Enemy =P~ =P~ What a scream, my second favourite moment in metal (after the pinch harmonic in 'In the Name of God - Dream Theater'.
  5. Sorry to still be banging on about this but I listened to Insects through headphones last night and it sounded brilliant. Suddenly the guitar was smoother and more satisfying. Other stuff you should check out: Carcass (think they are classified as grindcore but they actually have some nice melodies in there) Entombed - Get the Morning Star Album, its brilliant In Flames - Get the Jester Race Machine Head - Really good thrash/ groove metal band I think I'm off to see Amon Amarth at the end of October :XD: They're supporting Dimmu Borgir.
  6. Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy :uhh: :anxious: :uhh: Scary stuff. I'm listening to it on headphones pretty loud in a dark room.
  7. Right now it would be Staind - Zoe Jane.
  8. My best mate got seriously into Anime a couple of months ago. Then a few more got interested and soon most conversations were dominated by it. Not wanting to be left out I started to watch a bit of it too. I've watched about 150 episodes now and it's really starting to grate. I've seen Naruto do the Shadow replication sooooo many freakin times. And the storylines are dragged out for far too long. I think that at one point, [hide]The Third and Orocimaru were locked in battle for about 6-10 episodes[/hide] and time was nearly moving backwards. The Chuunin exam was the best part of the series. Favourite Character - Kakashi Sensei. I wish they showed more of him, he really cracks me up. Favourite move - Sexy no Jutsu.
  9. In Flames - Reroute to Remain My friends lent me a load of In Flames CD's, they are a really good melodic death metal band. Seriously good guitarists, in both their acoustic parts and the metal bits. Last FM link If anyone is interested, start with the Jester Race. Its opening track is a contender for the best metal song ever IMO.
  10. Machine Head - Davidian Brilliant song, seriously crushing.
  11. In Flames - Moonsheild
  12. I always understood that hardcore was an offspring of punk. Hardcore (to my knowledge which is pretty poor on the subject) uses fast double bass, screamed vocals and heavy guitar riffs with absolutally no concept of melody. The few bits I've been exposed to are simular to death metal in the style of singing and all out loudness but lacked death metals rif[bleep]e, prefering a constant barrage of the same note. I disregarded the genre as mindless wanna be metal. I know a bit more about metalcore but I don't really know where the 'core' bit comes into it. All the metalcore I listen to sounds very thrashlike (Trivium, Lamb of God, Killswitch).
  13. Staind - Zoe Jane
  14. If you want some stuff that gels together nicely, try Nickleback - Far Away.
  15. I was always taught that we need sleep to give the brain a rest. Even if you are lying/ sitting down your brain is still working, sleep lets it use little enough power to re-charge (as it were).
  16. 8:00 - Wake up and get a glass of milk 8:05 - Fall asleep 10:00 - Wake Up and eat breakfast then check e-mails, myspace etc 10:30 - Pack gym kit for badminton match 10:55 - Set off to catch bus with my badminton partner 11:25 - Go and drag partner from house as they forgot about the match 11:35 - Catch bus 12:00 Arrive at sport center and get changed 12:05 till 1:00 - Get my butt severly kicked. It was my first game in over nine months and she was once a national representative. I gave her a fair match though, made her work for her points. 1:00 till 1:20 - Sauna, shower and get changed 1:20 till 2:00 - Get home 2:06 - post this.
  17. I was 15 when i played it. I was terrified. I had really good graphics and decided to play the level using headphones. The whole of that level is disturbing, everything from the washing lines to the saw blades. One of the best designed levels I've played on. My back garden looks just like the one you see at the start of the level as well. I couldn't go to the garage without being terrified for about a month.
  18. I'm assuming you have a double bass pedal? Try Exile - Slayer. One of my favourite metal drumlines, fast and flat out aggressive. You could also try Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr - Trivium. Thats a really cool drumline.
  19. Killswitch Engage - My Last Serande. I think this is one of the most beautiful heavy songs I've got. Most of the heavy stuff I have is very ugly (metaphorically), this just brings images of summer and rivers to my head. Its quite strange to have something so heavy yet so beautiful :D Just moved this to the 5 Star list. :XD:
  20. I think "One death is a tradgedy, a thousand deaths is a statistic", applies pretty well to this thread. I'd save a loved one myself, the deaths of 3 thousand others wont affect my life much, people die all the time. Its totally selfish but in some areas of life I think you have to be. I'd want my loved ones to make the same decision about me.
  21. We don't get them very often but whenever I have to deal with one it's normally just "No thanks I'm not interested". After reading this, I'll start asking them to remove me from the call list. It makes it easier for both of us (seeing as I'm not going to buy anything over a phone-line ever).
  22. [hide] :wall: :wall: Ahhh, that song was horrible. :uhh: wow, im surprised, thats probably my favorite song. It's fast, its technical, and its well thought out. Maybe only a guitar player can enjoy it, I dunno. Most of my music is strange stuff like that. Assuming you're talking about Insects, how is that song not awesome? To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Pysopus, but I love that song. It might just be a little bit too fast for them lol. Some people like their music all in 4/4 time and it does right catchy tunes. Even I like it alot of time time, but sometimes I just need something really strange and fast and this song does that really well for me. Its a very unique song that I've not heard from anyone else. However, I felt I answered the thread question pretty well.[/hide] That song did grow on me a bit but I still think its flawed. The production quality (yeah I know that some people think that poor production produces atmosphere, its really just a difference of views) made the song too harsh on the ears. I love my Death metal, its thick (almost rich) sound which is heavy in a 'booming' sort of way. The thiness of that song and the overly distorted guitar worked well together but weren't really my thing. Can you tell me (in your opinion) which pysopus song is the heaviest? I'm looking to get into some Black Metal (I assume thats black, I've had a really hard time getting my hands on that kind of thing and I don't really know what it sounds like). Edit - I've listened to it a bit more and Insects has grown on me. The guitar still sounds horrible though.

I'd go for some sad piano music. Stuff with no lyrics, right until the last part where people are leaving then I'd have Don't Stop me Now by Queen and Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. List: Naruto - Sadness and Sorrow Utarda Hikaru - First Love Final Fantasy VIII - Sad piano tune (don't know the real name) Final Fantasy X - To Zanakand Final Fantasy VII - Aeris Song Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird (full version) Queen - Don't Stop me Now I'd finish with something I'd written myself, probally an acoustic solo.
  24. :wall: :wall: Ahhh, that song was horrible. :uhh: Agreed. Sorry Wakka but that was one of the worst metal songs I've heard. The climax at around 3:00 was pretty cool but the rest of the song ruined it. The heaviest songs I've come across in my 'search for the worlds heaviest song' are Homage for Satan by Deicide and Lashed to the Slave Stick by Nile. If you're looking for a really good heavy metal album, look for Morning Star by Entombed. Its really crushing and paints some brilliant pictures, mainly due to the guys voice on that album - almost crystal clear yet rough and brutal as a sandpaper chainsaw.
  25. [hide]I thought this book was ok. The only bit that really stood out for me was the whole thing about Harry dying and being reborn. The rest of the book seemed a bit forced, maybe even rushed. It could have been my mood while reading it though, I've had a lot of things on my mind which might have drawn from the experience.[/hide]
