  1. I recently started watching the show, it's quite good actually.. Basically the guy (and his brother and son) caught a serial rapist (86 convicted cases of rape) in Mexico, where bounty hunting is illeigal. they were detained for 7 days in mexico before being released on bail. Now it's 3 years later, supposedly near or at when the statute of limitations is up, and now the mexican government wants to expidite them for trial. They're out on bail now, and they're hoping things get settled before an expidition trial date is set.
  2. That is a guerrilla marketting ploy :D . It's not restricted at all, they let it "leek" everywhere. Wouldn't be surprised if it was just a marketing ploy. If it is, it's pretty genius. Not like there's any special information there, that's just the standard stuff press gets so they can do articles. Still pretty awesome, though. The hardware shots especially are cool to see.
  3. Dune? I think I've seen part of the movie. That's the series with the worms and the guy that kills with his voice, right? Either way, the movie was extremely weird but I kind of liked it. I've always meant to get the first book so I could start reading them... If you're talking about the 70's movie .. yes, however it's different enough from the book that I would tell you not to base too much on it. For example, the whole "killing with his voice" thing is just a physical representation of a fighting style they call the "wierding way" in the book. Similar to how in the LOTR novels, there wasn't actually a giant eye atop the tower of Mordor, but to accurately get the same feeling in a visual medium they had to make it so.
  4. EUR release date : December 8th 2006. EUR 249 / GBP 179
  5. The entire Dune Chronicles is good.. up to halfway through the second-to-last book, where Herbert's son starts to help, and then eventually takes over. That means the first 4.5 books are fantastic.. the last 1.5 books are good, but not nearly so, and I've heard so many bad things and read the last 1.5 books that I won't even touch the books his son did all by himself. The characters aren't nearly as good, the plot stales quickly, they're just all-around not as good. Obviously the Lord of the Rings is fantastic.. If you don't mind a fairly younger read, the Redwall series was good. Fahrenheit 451 and The Clockwork Orange were good..
  6. European launch not until March. There must be something going on socio-economically or something. It's not like Nintendo to be this shoddy in production, is it?
  7. Same here.. I guess the last times I had watched him had been when I was younger, and didn't really get a lot of what he was saying.
  8. Jesus.. A: It comes with Opera. Take that, Firefox Fanboys. B: I just finished watching some of the videos. Holy crap. Just.. holy crap. Granted, it was just some random software things, and you have to guess a little at how they're controlling it, but it fully stands up to the expectations of being a revolutionary control structure, at least from what I can guess at watching the movements on-screen.
  9. I will say that $250 is a smidge more than I'd hoped they'd be, but I think it's definitely still worth it, and odds are the price will come down by this spring or next summer at least. I'll be very interested to see pricing on accessories, especially extra controllers, and whether or not they come with nunchucks and straps.
  10. It's more like: "This guy who dedicated his life to saving animals accidently got killed by one. Let's go do the polar opposite of what he dedicated his life to in his honor!" Oh.. wait..
  11. I would say figure out getting an outrigger or two so it's more stable/fun to use.. You could even rig up a net between the canoe and the outrigger(s) and it'd be more versatile..
  12. Because we know enough about the physiology of the eye and the brain to know that what everyone sees is more or less similar. Color-blind people though, interestingly, lack the receptors required to see certain primary colors of light, or are deficient in those receptors. The most common one I beleive is green-blind. They see green as sort of a light-red pinkish color...
  13. Our eyes cannot pick up color that isn't in the visible spectrum. Due to the nature of what a spectrum is, we know all colors that exist within that spectrum. Anything else isn't a color by definition, becaue humans can't see it. However there's a huge possibility other things exist that other species may consider something akin to what we consider color.
  14. There are no unknown colors. All colors that exist or have ever existed, as far as humans are concerned, fall within the extreme red and extreme violet. This is called the visible spectrum, and it literally encompasses all colors we can see. You can't fully explain colors to a blind man, because he doesn't know sight. If I were to explain it I would simply say that it's a property of objects, similar to what they feel like, or what they sound like. That's really as far as he can understand it. If we're going to do philosophical debates, lets do interesting ones.

  19. So, for various reasons, I had to get a new laptop... and out of curiosity I ran 3dmark.. Is 1396 a decent score? Keep in mind I'm not going to do any hardcore gaming.. maybe WoW or UT2004 and not on max settings.
