^Agree with Gibble not only because you make a valid point but because the signature hypnotised me.

The best skill in the game
Tort, well put, thankyou very much for the post. To those still arguing summoning, refer to the initial post and Tort's post. We're regarding RS in the light of a GAME and not discussing the best skill in terms of usefullness, but in terms of fun. This is why you see dung, slayer and magic dominating the lists for obvious reasons. Summoning is useful sure, and helps you train a lot. But in itself, the skill isn't "fun" compared to the posibilities of magic slayer and dung. Still interested to see what people say about range in regards to pking. You hear of a lot of range tanks so I was waiting for the discussion of range fun with hand cannons dbows etc. Interesting read so far and really liking the arguements for magic.

The best skill in the game
How do you mean picture ourselves before summoning? I can remember the days before all of those skills and it would now feel weirdest without Slayer, probably still training at axe hut / Bandits for no apparent reason. I can see myself without familiars. Interesting take on utilising the skills, as yes constructing houses is quite fun, but I think at a point it does become just another grind to level. Dungeoneering doing well as I imagined, everyone seems to enjoy it. Magic was unexpected, but definetly has a good case for it, within mini games, pking, casting, uses etc. Magic is a very nice one to add. I suppose slayer is somewhat biased as it can feature all things combat related INCLUDING magic, but that's what make the skill so diverse and FUN. This is why I have to still pick it over magic only because it utilises it. Although the uses for magic away from PVE is very interesting indeed, and can definetly understand why people still prefer it. Very good addition guys  I really cant agree with summoning at all, sure the familiars have their uses, but I can't really see how it can outcompete Slayer magic and Dungeoneering when refering to FUN. Really, what side of summoning itself is fun? I think some people need to re-read this properly.

Magic is an interesting point. Funnest method of combat + it's use in mini games. Good one

The best skill in the game
^Lol Without editing the main post, I just thought of something. It seems unfair to say the best skill in the game and include all the other things that go with it. So I GUESS if you said combat then you relate that to Monster hunting, which is more than likely one of the most enjoyable aspects of Runescape for most people. I spose we can include that and discuss ..

The best skill in the game
What's the best skill in the game? Don't give me, it's a matter of personal preference, depends on your mood etc etc. At the end of the day, Runescape is a game, and if you play it as such there has to be THE best skill. Sure, there are plenty of nice achievements such as reaching 99 firemaking, its a cool 99 at the end, it's an achievement to have, but during it - surely it's not enjoyable! ALSO, i understand people enjoy the afk side of things, such as woodcutting ivys and such while chatting to friends, browsing forums etc - myself included. This is a nice social aspect to the game, and is what makes RS great. BUT! If we just focus on the GAME side of things, as if you were to be entertained the entire time solo, but also chatting and browsing, what is the defining skill. For me there is only 1 answer, Slayer. Slayer gives you an array of monsters to kill, using all methods avaliable. If provides you with cash Has nice even milestones to reach Can be afkable or requiring focus Gives you something to pour that newfound cash into to make the skill go even faster Provides you with charms to use at a later date to assist in slayer moreso Isn't a rush skill Very big achievement by the end Gives you very nice D&D activities to divide your slaying time ( clue scrolls ) There are many more, but that's it for now. I can't see ( following my premise ) many other skills coming close. The one im watching out for is dungeoneering as I'm quite new to it and not even on the hiscores. Remember, think about this from a gaming point of view, and having said that ---: Yes, I enjoy clue scrolls I enjoy killing monsters while chatting I enjoy most parts of slayer except for doing tasks I don't enjoy but kind of have to. Post away, I'm VERY interested in hearing your thoughts and am open for criticism regarding other skills not being enjoyable.

Just out of curiosity, how does the cannon do that? Does it confuse the bot, or does it just keep the door from opening? Because if it's the latter, then they might not all be bots... Most bots simply go by color (For example, bots at green drags click the color green. That's why dropping a nature rune traps them) and aren't very well coded. No, they don't. You're 100% wrong. Lol I laughed, well done. I was going to reply but I think your sentence wins.

Vent server
Do you have an immunity to it? Haha But really, most Tip iters have their private vents / servers, probably another reason.
-
Vent server
Well that is a bummer. Do you know if they died out because people just stopped getting on vent or because the owners quit paying for the server? People stopped getting on vent. The teenage American accent is enough to put anyone off vent.

I never thought this would happen...
This is a nice topic title, and I hope people read enough to get to this post. I never thought partyhats would be worth this much I never thought skilling would actually DRAIN money ( inflation ruined ze game ) I never thought they would actually release summoning after the talk about it within the first few months of the game ------ Now for one that hasn't happened yet - I don't think Santas will ever be worth billions  Let's see if I can find this topic if it does happen.

what are the chances of a second "stone of jas" being in runescape?
People should really read the posts before replying to just the original post. About 5 people so far have said: "he's not the lord of chaos, he's the empty lord" I don't follow much of the god stories myself, but it's interesting to read some of the pieced together journal articles and theories. Cool stuff - though I don't think I'll be hunting answers myself on RS, I'll just hope to find answers hunting these forums

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
When will people stop blowing hoarding this far out of proportion :?: But Chessy really does ... 2000 Santa's not even 5% of the Santa market. It's a huge amount for 1 person, perhaps the most hoarded by one person by far, but even with all of that she can't affect the Santa market that much Um what? I'd say owning nearly 5% of the Santa market is infact a huge hoard, insanely huge. Of all the people that play rs, 1 person owns nearly 5% of a particular item, massive. And I'm sure if she chose to she would affect the Santa market.

Save the old Runescape websites!
Furthermore I'll add a site even at the risk of huge embarrasment. I was only 16 at the time but even still it makes me laugh. My ancient TMW site is long lost, this is the only one in existance left. Still, April 2004 still may be old for some people, and it will be the most primitive RS2 you'll most likely see in large picture amounts. http://mypage.tsn.cc/midnight/ Enjoy, don't laugh too hard, I was young

Save the old Runescape websites!
You know I've always been your biggest fan Meili, your pictures are priceless, and I regularly visit your gallery and share it. You had the sense to document your rs history and not let it fall to computer wipes / upgrades as since then I've been through 5 computers myself - as I'm sure most of us have. I always support you and your sites and will continue to do so. Everyone should visit these sites, they are history, and accurately reflect what it was like back then, also sharing stories such as the knife bug and how it was delt with. This is not only a viewing enjoyment, but it helps me reflect on what I was doing at the time as it sparks memories. Again Meili thankyou, and I will visit the sites even more so now.

How it should have ended
Again Jagex show us how little they know about the game and how useless they can be. They really need to employ actual RS gamers.
-
What if the Dupe never occured
The famous Dupe, the famous person Sixfeetunder who discovered it - what if none if it ever happened. Furthermore, assume Jagex released the same updates and Runescape turned out similar to this current time now. What would the prices be? Exactly how rare would they be? Etc etc. Firstly, Pink partyhat aka Purple partyhat would still be the rarest, but that's trivial in the bigger picture. If you think about it, even today partyhats are extremely rare, whether they were held onto by merchants or lost on accounts via pking / banned. There weren't many players who were able to obtain partyhats at the time, and I know many people dropped them, lost them or are on unused or banned accounts. The number of partyhats without the dupe would be amazingly low in regards to how many players play today. I strongly believe they would be unbuyable, and beyond priceless. I'd love to see some estimates of how many partyhats are in existance now, and how many should have been in existance.

Yes, but don't. You could buy min in GE instantly, or pay like 90m cash and the rest junk. Thanks, didn't know they were crashing that hard.
