Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
Read the mod emilee piece(of somthing i can't say) and well... Firstly, it isn't only about the money that was produced, but that it was unevenly distributed between everyone who plays this game. I can only guess that i was in the top 0.5% with my 143 boots but it really doesn't reconcile for the fact that some people got rich overnight for doing nothing at all. Secondly, the way our minds work, everyone is expected to overestimate this change to produce a small chaos for the next weeks to come in expencive items. This should have been avoided at all cost. Thirdly, it's not only about giving free money away to lucky people, there was certainly some inside knowledge given about this more than fishy update. I'm not sure about jagex company rules, but it'd be baffling if noone got fired for this. As for mod emilee talking about the alch price, is she stupid or just clueless? These boots are a poor substitute for rune boots and ould only be used for welfare(+1 bh) world pking, BUT(and i can't stress this BUT enough) they CAN'T [bleep]ing be used there anymore. CAN'T. They proctect over everything that you would normally use on those servers..... All in all, all jagex has publicly stated about this update is a major blow for their trustworthiness. major blow.

Dragon Defender confirmed.
5m exp worth of tokens for a defender when the weapons are only 200k. You just went full [developmentally delayed]ed. Firstly, a dragon defender hasn't yet been released because it would be a major low blow to mages and rangers, as melee gets another great update and alot more combat ability. Secondly, there is nothing wrong in wanting items to be exclusive, and the shield slot is the one that has the most exclusive items. DSS and ESS would still be much, much harder to obtain but be worse than a dagon defender by a long mile. Thirdly, for the ability to obtain dragon defenders from say cyclopses, that isn't such a bad price. 5m xp will be around as tough as 2m now if you start from 80 after batch2, and you can get an infinite amount of them for a mid-high flat rate. This would also be another initative to train a skill jagex see as being undertrained atm.

Dungeoneering - how far to rush?
It really depends on your prefrance of the skill, you are now just getting into the repetative part of the skill, so just try differant ways(differant ways of rushing and differant levels of where to stop doing smalls) to come up with what you like best. Some people do 1-25 small, some 1-29, but 30-35 should definitely be done in 5:4-5 large.

Lawl gl with that happening. This update is almost on par with the wildy removal in terms of rants. And we all know how many players they lost back then... and that was actually for the good of the game. This is jagex scoring an own-goal in extra time(just thought a football analogy would work here). I can't even imagine the thoughts that crossed their mind as they created this update. Any way you look at it it's a terrible idea. Better solution = Make boots 60k then their alch values extremely low and non sellable to the smith. Problem solved. (except people would have a lot of junk :L) They'll propably do a alch price fix tomorrow but by then, it's just too late. Everyone who had them will have already alched them or sold to the store if they had a very big load, thus the change wouldn't actually change anything about how terrible this update was. desk, you are completely right about the drop in the number of players. up to the slayer release or so, we had new servers put into the game very frequantly and posts about this on the first page. Now i havn't seen one of those for years. They are clearly trying to outsmart themselves.

Dragon Defender confirmed.
Any guesses for the stats? i'd predict 30/29/28 stab/slash/crush attack/def and 7 str, but whatever they are, this will be a very sought after item for anything you plan to do. This will also make cls far worse off than cr than it is now. As for how to get it, 500k tokens for it along with dungB2 release would be sweet.

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
It was Mod Mark. His clan chat title is "Wooters" and he has expressed his like for the update and how there will be no rollback. Tbh his job is like community managing or something and well mod MMG does all that basically. Considering Rune boots have a high alch price of 8k, D boots are 12k. Where would they get the 45k alch price for climbing boots from? That makes 0 sense. Also this update was leaked to certain people beforehand(I know a mod who it was leaked to). So I think Mod Mark was trying to "help" a few of his friends out because anyone who wasn't a true idiot could have seen this coming. Thats why there were a couple people who stockpiled boots. There were plenty of fixes to this... You could have changed all current climbing boots to the quest version or just made their alch value and sellback value horribly low. Sure they still would have been used in junk trades then, but thats not a horrible alternative to what it is now. The fact they are triyng to tell us people commonly bought them for 75k is bull. If you think the Lead Designer of Runescape made an update to help out of a few of his ingame friends then you are truly a 12 year old. Content standards change over the years, and old content must be retrofitted to meet the new standards. This is just one of the changes that impacts the game visibly. Mod Mark KNOWS that it will impact the economy with short-term inflation. He says this in his post. He also knows that a few hundred people got rich. This has NO long-term effect for the economy. Just 12 year olds getting jealous of lucky people. Theres a world of differance between lucky and favored players. The leaking is certainly true and any respectful company would take serious consideations into the matter to deal with it(which i doubt jagex will do). Also, judging by the player response(the people who pay for the updates and cover their vages), 95% think this was a terrible update and most would agree that there would have been millions of other ways to not make this so hard on the community to accept, not least of which is the fact that these boots proctect over divine(which means they are now useless in the one place they were used before- +1 bh). For your knowledge, the fact that he is the lead designer doesn't mean he knows anything about runescape, as evidenced by his post. He is just covering his a**, hoping that this will all die down soon. Also i agree that there will not be a long term affect for the runescape economy because of this, though thousands of wealthy funloving players will lose millions because of this, though i do think there will be a long term effect on jagex as a company, because, as of lately, i've lost alot of trust in them. This will not bode well for them as being customer friendly, honest or decent as a company.

Jagex needs to fire some people.
Thee was a cc filled with people all gathering boots yesterday as i was told by a player mod...he didn't know what was going on but in hindsight, clearly, this is very, very fishy.

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
Also to add to the above post, i was also told by a player mod today that the update was leaked to a select amount of players beforehand, so it was not only selective free money but also giving select players an unfair advantage over others(around 22m/h advantage to be persice). I wouldn't be suprised if there was more dirty secrets to this update as jagex clearly has no care for their reputation anymore(very lean bans, little care for autoing and now this).

Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
The 404k was a fake, how are people believing that? Quoted for truth. http://img443.imageshack.us/i/mark2r.png/ Hey, isn't that the guy who thinks these boots were sold for 75k each before the update? He doesn't have to lie, he is just clueless. The fact that he had to personally respond to all this drama only shows the seriousness of the problem in hand. Also, these boots were sold 2 gp each for 6 years and were the best boots in game before slayer.

If no one complains about it, please don't 'fix' it
It wasn't a fix, they handed out 300b selectively. Climbing boots have been around very nearly since the start of rs2- 6 years or so, and now is the time to pull this? and good fix? you must be living on some other planet. For your information, the wrong that jagex saw in this was that people sold 2 gp boots for 60k as an opportunity cost, thus, as a ''good'' fix they made sure noone would ever use those boots anywhere ever again. good fix my ...

Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
actually, granite, but noone banked granite before the update. That was a terrible update aswell(people mining for 2.5m junk an hour). hobgoblin, you can have many cash piles and can store cash in alchable items like dragon meds etc. True, but IIRC granite was terribly under priced before. Not really, they just changed the mechanics of how granite worked(cutting up larger pieces) but never bothered to change the ge prices or forsee the forthcoming effect, a rookie mistake. This is just plain kindergarden stuff... The worst isn't what they did but how they(namely mod mark) justified it. He might aswell said that he doesn't play the game and not care what his employees are up to(which he did, he just used some fancy words for it).

Agreed. This is also why people shouldn't write uneducated suggestion threads.

Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
Woul you still be using a streght amulet if it rose 375 times? no, i didn't think so either. The boots will drop to ~44800 gp in ge and stay there for the rest of infinity, with no real profit being made keeping them in the ge rather than just alching now. People used them because they were dirt cheap, and only bought them for ~75k IF they really, really needed an extra pair to not change servers and go to the ge. 75k was the extreme opportunity cost of being at the right place at the right time, but certainly not a value that a reasnoble person would judge them by.

Rock climbing boots affecting RuneScape
This is exactly like jagex making the price of a purple partyhat 2.3b because that is the street price now. Jagex screwed up mistaking street prices on a low scale for the price people would normally pay for these items. People only payed ~75k for boots on a minute scale, with junk.

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
Ok everyone, time to go buy Helms of Neit's. I heard there was a guy buying one for 150k once, so Jagex will be changing them to 150k market price soon. Buy them at 50k while you can! Im not sure if I follow your thinking, but all items dont have an invisible-non existant price tag equal to 4 times the cost of the item in the ge. Just because rune scimitars are 30k each market price, doesnt mean they are going to be 100k - 120k street price. Well, you are still not getting it, but mod mark saying that 75k is the price people would normally have been able to sell these boots means that he thought they were sold 400k each with junk before the update. BTW, this only applies to the price an item is worth over the ge price, thus if a rune scimitar is 30k and actually worth 35k, the price with junk would be 55k.

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
LOL, how hard can this be to understand? Someone is selling purple partyhat for 2.3m, that's 400m for the hat and 1.9m junk. You buy it. You get rid of the junk for around 0,8 times the value, thus you are actually paying 780m for the hat. Same thing for if you sold climbing boots in bulk. The 60k limit is meaningless in big trades, and such trades don't really form the price of an item.
-
Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
75k minus old street price times 5 is the amount jagex would have thought they were sold before the update. If someone wanted to sell these items before the update in bulk and make 74,8k per boot before the update, the price they would have had to sell with junk is 400k. JUNK is valuable.

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
Money in street price is worth around 5 times less than money in market price. Thus if an item with high street price nears this mark they would crash.

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
where was this post about 400k street price? 400k street price is eqvivalent to 75k ge price(if you know how street price works). Mod mark said the people would have been able to sell them or the same price anyway, with just more hassle. Boots were 2 gp each at sherpa. Mod mark is ...... sorry, i can't post those things on these forums...

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
I think the point of the update was to make something that pkers were using as footwear and cost almost nothing now have a value to them and so loosing a pair causes you to loose 70k worth of value which will over time act a money sink. The increase in wealth is only temporary. Think long term so maybe in the short term 700bil was created you can only get at best 60% of that value minus the cost of the natures runes and once that money is gained it cant be gotten again and if that player wants to get another pair they must pay out 75k so over time this change will act as a money sink.... Rune boots: 88k climbing boots: 75k which will you be using? Also, the money doesn't come in momentarily, it takes a while to alch a big load. I'm guessing most edge pkers won't be using boots from now on.

The post from mod mark is [cabbage]. Clmibing boots never were 400k street price(eqvivalent to 75k ge) and he is just clueless about the game and about what his cronies are doing while he spanks his secretary. A sad day for scape to be honest... Selectively handing out 300b is a tragedy.
