Yeah i find it totally stupid that Kree can interrupt Rapid Fire. Even if you're backed into a corner? I have never been backed into a corner before, nor have I tried.

That was what torn me over, Merchants or ship parts, I chose ship parts, which, my justification was, since they do not need to be trained, like you said, i'll be able to reap the benefits of improved stats right away (same can be said for merchant, but merchant would only affect 1 ship, while the ship part applies to all 4 ships. Of course, i won't use the same ship part across all 4 ships all the time, but at least the upgrade won't be limited to 1 ship, like I would be had I bought the merchant instead. Edit: Just realised my flaw in that logic, i had totally disregarded the fact that the cannon costs nearly 3x as much as merchant, so Yes, I may have had a lapse in judgement :p -

1. 63 2. you start with only 50 terracotta voyages for the first 10% of the loop region, after that higher terracotta voyages starts to be available. No whining was involved 3. If you can send more than 1 round of ships a day, rudder, otherwise i'd work on ship parts (figure head being last). -
4) Bandos is a teeny bit too weak for QBD. I would recommend wearing either full Tetsu or full Torva. Also if you are melee'ing the souls on fourth phase will never spawn in an x pattern because you are already blocking off 1 side of the said X (since you have to be right up close to QBD, and QBD blocks off the squares where souls would have spawned), making soul spawns on QBD quite erratic, hence the X pattern you have seen in vids generally only spawn for Ranged and Magic users rather than melee. With Full tetsu, I also recommend just tanking the firewalls, i don't think it's really worth dancing the firewalls just to avoid 1 rock tail's worth of damage. Flurry also kills souls very nicely, and be extra careful with the super charged breath. 5) 1. It's ALWAYS worth doing the higher regions. 2. It is still worth it for Trio voyages and for some doubles, but after loop they are not really worth it. 3. Merchants are ALWAYS worth it (the only case where merchant is arguable is if the merchant is Ardougne storekeeper, ie the worst merchant, every other merchant is worth it, no questions asked). Telescopes offer increased chances of a scroll voyage appearing as a special voyage. Scroll voyages do NOT exist as normal voyages (this is true up to and including loop). If you have any scrolls you are after, don't miss the scroll voyages. The voyage will just simply get longer in higher regions (the % success would be roughly the same for similar zone positions, EG start of loop would give roughly the same % as start of pincers, etc), so there is little reason to not go for scrolls if you need them. 6) I believe the effigy drop rate decreases depending on the amount of effigies you have, which decreases further as more effigies you currently have. No idea on the actual odds though.

Pity the texture on the replica chain isn't what it used to be. Anyone know if we are getting Legacy dragon weapons pack? -

I got cannon because I knew rudder is not going to help me, 1 voyage per ship per day here is non-negotiable (I have no means of rs access during work, and my off time is shorter than the shortest possible Terracotta), and the Cannons are end game ship parts (so it's more short term pain over long term gain, so I will not have 'wasted' the terracotta in the long run. BY 4 voyages a day, I meant that I can only send my ships out once, hence I cannot prioritise my voyages on terracotta, as that would hamper my already behind progress even more by shortening the distances my ships make each day. I send on terracotta only when I have rolled no other really long voyages. Besides, Terracotta is not end game, hence whatever I do here will hardly be of issue when I reach that end game stage. Sure, shield is going to make my life miserable, but the pain will not last long once I start replacing my crews. But I digress, I have delved too deep into my personal playstyle. -
I was using Overloads with Asc MH, DL dart OH, fury, Arma boots and gloves, DL top and bottom and mighty slayer helm with Vamp aura, SS and anguish, had no problems with staying at kree arra for the entirety of my task (I barely ate any food). I did find that rapid fire was quite difficult to use properly, so I ended up using Snapshot and Bombardment more.

Well you have an exception to that rule already, I am not going to do the new Trio until I am in shield, don't want story missions taking up valuable ship voyages that don't help my progress in Loop whatsoever. I will hold it out until Shield if possible. (For the record, I can only send 1 round of ships per day during weekdays, so loss of 1 ship's progress is pretty detrimental to my progress into next zone. Also for that reason, I have been doing far fewer Terracotta than most people expect (I have been doing special and trade good voyages more than terracotta). I am currently 23% into loop, and so far I have only bought the cannon upgrade, and literally nothing else. No rudder, no crew, just that 1 ship part. -

I'm getting exactly that or 665431 if i can. Don't get rid of oxheads until you've completed the final trio. Then, yeah, only triple missions you'll do are barmaid. 1 of each MCS is better than 3 oxheads because of JoD (Same stats, oxheads and MCS gives 3000 stat points each, but MCS gives more solidarity). -

I actually think the merchant to be the biggest upgrade in term of single crew. A level 10 TCM offers 700 morale upgrade over level 10 JM, while Morale Crew only has 600 upgrade at level 10. Also, you get a stat upgrade going from level 10 JM to level 0 TCM, going from level 10 travelling band to TCM morale only offers stat upgrade after level 8. -
No idea, but with the supreme jot, you DO have the option of stopping at either 10 or 15 skills (which is basically the normal and master requirements) and get the corresponding reward. I have not tried the others out yet.

i got 22,337 xp for level 95 agility with a 20 skills jot

138 vs. 200: Vote on combat level formula! (not guaranteed content)
chenw replied to Serfal's topic in General Discussion
Arbitrary number is an arbitrary number, the only important to me is the actual calculations behind it. But then again, I care very little for a number that can be easily hidden from other players. The problems I had with the calculations was that only melee could achieve higher combat levels, which in itself is already inaccurate. Neither of the formulas though took askewed levels into account (EG level 99 mage with 1 def has the same combat level as level 50 magic and 50 def), higher levels should contribute more to the combat level formula than lower levels, especially considering the xp involved getting to those levels. -

I have come to the conclusion that Upgrading Terracotta merchants first may actually be more beneficial than upgrading the Terracotta morale crew, because TM starts with 650 morale, and probably would end up as 1300 (so a 700 morale upgrade over JM), but a Morale crew is 1500 base, upgrade to 3000 (600 upgrade over Travelling band), add the fact that you do not get any stat downgrade for using a level 0 TM over a level 10 JM, unlike the other scenario... -

The Speed is on the wrong type of crew. Speed stat is the most useful when the crew in question is a SINGLE stat, not a double/triple stat. Reasoning (well, at least mine) being that when you go on a Duo or Trio, due to JoD's effect, chances are you will stick a JoD on the ship, whose Solidarity boosts speed by itself, hence raising the minimum speed that the ship would end up with under most circumstances, and thus it would require less speed to hit the speed cap, as well as having the overall time reduction being less effective due to a higher baseline speed. -

I changed my mind just before i read the post, I did indeed roll a 400 terracotta gossip (9280 trio, should be easily manageable), waiting on the voyage again next. -

That would not be possible, since the next time I'll be checking my voyage would be this time tomorrow, hence the gossip day would have passed. I have decided to keep the wisp voyage -

Well, one of the reasons is to be able to make a quick buck off selling these things. Otherwise, yeah, as you move deeper into ports, the reward for scroll voyages remains the same, while requirements(both in crew and time) increase alot. It was a blessing to be able to complete all the old scrolls in the pincers. A blessing any newcomer won't have. Around 5 or so people have completed the trio storyline so far. The reward, as expected, is 50/50 koi/perls. I just sent a voyage to unlock wisp at 54%, which was the best i could muster. As far as I know noone has unlocked it yet. Let us know how it turns out for you will you? My sources tell me you would be one of the first (if not the first) person to get wisp unlocked if you succeed this. -
Any scrolls can come from any adventurer, although only 1 will be offered regardless of the number of adventurers in port at the time. Never pass up the scrolls if you can help it, eventually the scrolls will take up a significant portion of your ship's time (for example in pincers a scroll voyage will take at least 13h, while earlier regions will take less time for roughly the same chance of success). This is what I did for my port progress: Up to and including the cherrywood region, I prioritised on rudder, then Ship deck parts because those benefit my voyages the most, then I did Crew, then I did hulls and finally figurehead. In jade region (bowl) however that changed. I, for reasons I cannot remember beyond thinking that it was not worth the jade upgrade) that I ignored the jade ship upgrades except for the rudder one the the hulls (the one that gives higher seafaring) as that Seafaring hull was the best available (Pincers didn't have a sf hull). By the time i was finished with all the other upgrades (crew, building etc), I was finished with Bowl. Also, do not underestimate the effect of merchants, their effect of increasing voyage rewards completely outweigh any decreases in voyage success chances.

Only if it recurs infinitely, which I doubt is what the merchant's % is. (IE it may very well be that his % is 33.33%, not 33.333....%).
