  1. Hmm, I probably won't have my stuff ready in time to go along on this trip but I might just tag along on the Full Veracs (if that's how it's run) and watch in the crypts (only 68 mage so no teleothering to worry about from me). I definitely think splitting up across worlds is a good idea. I can't imagine 30 Dharoks making anyone new to barrows feel any more secure down there :) I have a great image in my mind of Baemnt taking a register after each Crypt like a class trip :)
  2. Lots of small goals for me, but that's the way I like to play: Def 67 -->70 Mage 68 --> 70 (need to find something to alch) Agility 48 --> 50 Herblore 48 --> 50 Full veracs (not sure about this, maybe two weeks) Grow another 100 Tarromin :) Of course if Jagex release another quest I'll probably achieve none of these.
  3. Have you got everything else? I just talked to her after I had collected everything and had it all in my inventory.
  4. Nice guide, I do agree with IceBlackIce don't use any compost on trees/fruit trees, just pay the farmer to look after them, the xp is way to valuable to take any risks. Also it might be worth noting that for those who can't grow watermelons you can make supercompost easily by quickly visiting Brimhaven from Ardougne (30gp) and picking pineapples to the south. Additionally to get to Falador allotment it is almost as quick (and cheaper) to Glory tele to Draynor (you can also use the Draynor bank on the way) and run up through the cabbage field. I personally run from Catherby to the Ardougne patch but that's because I'm too tight to waste two laws every run. If you do as I do your entire run only costs 1 law but takes maybe a minute longer.
  5. I apologise for my earlier post, I thought you had sailed to find the wlkthough section on the quest guie. On closer inspection I realised you were looking on the wrong guide entirely
  6. You're looking at the wrong quest guide. That's Darkness of Hallowdale, you want In Aid of the Myreque, you can't do Darkness until you do In Aid...
  7. Interestingly enough I'm responsible for the quest guides and I did it about three days ago with no problem. I believe the section you are looking for in the guide reads thus:
  8. Did you talk to the guy behind the gate? I forget his name. Talk to him once and he'll tell you to get lost. Put some food in that chest by the table next to the gate and talk to the guy again. Then they'll let you in. Check out the tip.it quest guide for more info if you need it.
  9. You have to do In Aid of the Myreque
  10. And immediately before this it also states: "The joke is that the twelfth root of the sum does evaluate to 1922 due to rounding errors when entered into most handheld calculators. In fact, the left hand sum evaluates to 2,541,210,258,614,589,176,288,669,958,142,428,526,657, while the right hand side evaluates to 2,541,210,259,314,801,410,819,278,649,643,651,567,616 ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã
  11. Yes but all the variables are raised to a power greater than 2 so whilst 1 + 2 = 3 1^3+ 2^3 ~= 3^3 Anyway, the point is that the theorum is correct (apparently) but the proof is incredibly complex: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fermats_Last_Theorem#The_proof_of_Fermat.27s_Last_Theorem
  12. Just so you guys know, I'm collecting up the data on what tree seeds everyone is getting so that hopefully I can put together a calc for this minigame. As yet I don't know if it will be put on the site or just stay on the forums but thanks to everyone who has contributed a breakdown of the seeds they got so far. :)
  13. Are you suggesting we all try and solve Fermat's Last Theorum? This was reputedly one of the most impressive feats of mathematics in recent times. Although you haven't actually given the full specification of the problem which is: For the system: a^n + b^n = c^n it is impossible to find a,b,c > 0 which solve the equation for any power of n>2. This was proven in 1994. If you had proven it during your five hours in the library I woudl have been very impressed:)
  14. Goldsmithing gauntlets? They are a reward from Family Crest quest. Use them with the brother in the Al-Kharid mine to get gold enchantment
  15. No you will need a study. Certain teleports require certain types of furniture, check here: http://tip.it/runescape/construction_table.php?table=Study You should be looking at the lecturns. For lumbridge you will need an eagle lecturn requiring 47 construction.
  16. Yeah, it's just a random thing, the precise probabilities of getting a particular assignment may be partially dependent on your level but nothing can escape the fact that if an assignment is rare then most the time you'll be getting a different assignment. Now if only I could find a way of stopping Chaeldar giving me those blsted bronze dragons.... @Berrakus: Were you slaying at the Waterfall Fire Giants last night, I think I saw you there?
  17. If you consider the average to be one item in twenty runs then the probability of going 350 runs without an item is about 1 in 3.6 million. :) Back to the original question, I haven't done any barrowing just yet but this thread sure is making me think twice about it :) Thinking Twice? For long term money making maybe, but you should always try all minigames see if you like them (whisper in ear : you havent played Trouble brewing yet chen!). After all, you play the game to play right? I enjoy barrows so much that I can stay there for weeks (even tolerating the walk from Ecto to Barrows). Try it. And once you get good at it, you are guarenteed to make money every trip, even if it is just runes. Nah, I was only joking chenw, Barrows is just like anything else in RS I reckon: you play it long enough and you'll get the rewards. That's the thing with probability based stuff, all these 30, 40, 50 dry runs will balance out over time with the day you get two items in five runs or even in the same chest. Besides short term cash isn't an issue for me really, I never had much money and if my past history is anything to go by I'd probably keep most of the barrows drops I got anyway. Personally I think the (practically) free mage xp is the biggest attraction of the barrows to me. I have plenty of pray pots (I never sold any and I never use them so I have a lot) so all I'm spending is a few hundred k on super restores.
  18. Well, if the 'clock' was a function built into the game code rather than extracted from the system it might roll back with the system, however, I think the most likely explaination of the same three items occurring is just random chance. As I said earlier repetition of three drops does not necessarily imply and repeated sequence in a random string, particularly not for common drops.

  20. Yep, chenw is teaching me about all sorts of things this week, Barrows, KQ... Anyway I had another question not covered in your guide (I think, I did look quite carefully), that is 'the face' apprently this turns up and drains prayer (8 + the number of brothers killed I heard?). Does this face appear at a fixed interval? Does it only appear when you are in the crypts or also in the tunnels? Do you mage or melee to raise your kill count in the tunnels? Also: Holy wrench - worth sacraficing an inv spot for? I'm thinking not but I've been wrong before (ask chenw) :) Anyway, thanks for the guide and the help, just saving up for the equipment now and should be rolling in about two weeks. Hope to see you guys down there :)
  21. You have 80+ combat with a 1014 skill total. Think of this as an opportunity. The only certain way of making money in RS is skills. So grab a pick or grab a wc axe, there's no secret to it.
  22. It's easy to kill him without food. You can just protect from mage and range him, he won't close the distance, just stand and mage. The problem is doing it without prayer I believe.
  23. So far your guide is looking good. I would say that the really good guides here are very comprehensive. I would suggest that you extend the guide to cover alternative training methods such as Missed Curse, maybe explain about getting free laws from FFL on w66, something about ancient magicks? Ice barraging is very fast xp. You might also want to compare xp rates and costs of different methods.
  24. Oh man, that's tough. I saw a post a while back by a guy who'd forgotten to take his anti-fire shield down there. He was toasted and couldn't work out why. I wasn't until he listed what he lost that we saw what he'd done. I'm terrible for this too, last time I went there I forgot my wc axe so I went back to get it. When I got back to the cave entrance I realised that in going back for my axe I had spent an extra 60 gp on the boat and didn't have enough to get in. When I eventually did get to killing them I burnt up about 400 bloods on zammy flames and must've killed about 5 drags. Needless to say I haven't been back in a while :)
