Zombies. A reality?
Well if take some disease like Rabies. It is contagious with bodily fluids. It causes delirium. It affects the nervous system and the brain. It can be carried by a vast number of mammalian species and can still infect humans. It is usually 100% fatal if treatment is not applied as soon as possible But thing is, rabies is much much more detrimental for the victims, since it causes SEVERE muscle spasms - so much so that victims often break their bones because their muscles are twitching soo much....

the wonderful world of...anime
Want some of the most awesome battle scenes in anime? Watch Bleach. Want an interesting plotline, good characters, a unique story, suspense, and a deep meaning behind the anime? Er, watch something else. Bleach is great for the fight scenes, especially when Ichigo unexpectedly obliterates enemies that get in his way (three one-handed lietenant instant KO's :XD: ), but there isn't much past that. Way too many damn characters (kill 'em off!), one of the slowest plotlines in anime, and really nothing beyond the blades. It's a fun show, but if you want something deeper, try FMA, Death Note, animes of that sort. Not Naruto. Stay away from Naruto, please. Yeah, stay away from Naruto if possible. And DBZ - there's no need to watch hundreds of episodes when you can watch newer ones. General rule of thumb: Watch a series once, and after you finish... Find A new one and don't look back.

Some general thoughts about philosophy (VLP)
My way of analyzing and interpreting cases would work out like this: 1.) I would ask exactly where was the crime committed (Which jurisdiction and which laws really apply) 2.) I would argue that they still have a chance to appeal to court 3.) Now if and only if the appeals court decides to re-examine the case, chances are, their decision will affect the legal system. But if they don't decide to re-examine the case, then there wouldn't even be an argument whether or not to base their legal system on Mens Rea or intent. The charges will remain and their punishments will remain the same. The argument of whether intent is possible or even impossible to prove will not even exist at this point. Again, I would say something like this: 1.) Both of them are guilty - But depending on the laws they are under, they can either be charged with negligence, if they do something that will bring them attention to other people, or if they voluntarily admit they did something wrong. If they dont attract attention and if they dont admit, then no one can make any accusations. 2.) Since only one person actually got caught, only that person can be charged And since nobody even knows about the other trucker, as far as people know, he hasn't done anything wrong. "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around, does it make a sound?" Again I would like to say the same paradox about the falling tree on this one. However in this case, there is a all-knowing witness, but the witness will probably never say anything. Although Larry is guilty, no one will ever know he is responsible. Therefore, Vinny is the only guilty party according to the people in the story- and now have to decide what to do. Either Apologize, or just go with the insult. He doesn't have any free will before the insult, but he has free will after the insult. My answer would be it is a matter of personal choice. If Vinny knows he will be forced to insult the queen, why doesn't he consider not coming instead? We can't Is there such a thing as moral luck? Yes and No. Yes in that we know the whole story and we know that one person got caught, and the other person didn't even though he is also guilty. But everyone in the story doesn't know about these. (IE, Dramatic Irony) And no since in the real world, we don't know everything.

Rowling Says Dumbledore Is Gay.
The fact that it was announce because fans were curious should have made it clear that she only said it because it pertains to the story... -.- She's set for life as far everyone is concerned, and she knows it. She's not out to milk the series for what its worth. :-k

Fox News or CNN?

Federal Contracts to Blackwater USA
That would turn into a bidding war. I'll pay you 1 million to kill them. But I'll pay you 2 million to kill them instead and so on Um, no? They're military contractors hired by their own government. Meaning they are citizens. Meaning working for the enemy would be treason. The enemy can't hire them. Furthermore, the enemy couldn't afford them. These contractors are not red necks with big guns and no allegiance . They are trained military/navy seal personnel. Forget the controversy around them being douche's and shooting stuff up when they're not supposed to while costing us tons of money...They're American citizens. Not wild apes who can be bought off by the enemy. By enemy, I dont mean in the context of "Terrorists" I mean another sovereign country that is in conflict the the country that where these companies are based in. There are over 100 private military companies out there, and they are also hired by other countries. (UK, South Africa, Israel) And I was asking if they would be treated as POW, civilians, or if they can be hired by the enemy country if they can't be released. I mean, if a company from South Africa working in Iraq for the Americans gets captured by say, Iran, can the Iranians hire the South Africans since Iran and South Africa are not at war? (Thread Hijack, I know - But I share the same sentiments as Dusty) You see companies like KBR doing stuff like weapons maintenance, logistics, catering, water distribution, surveilance, etc, when the army is fully prepared for it... and they overcharge for substandard services sometimes too... How degrading is that? ---- Some documentaries on the net Iraq for sale - 1 hour 15 minutes run time PBS- Private warriors Shadow Company - Clips

Federal Contracts to Blackwater USA
On the topic of military contractors... If the enemy overruns a camp staffed by say, companies like KBR, would they be treated as POWs, will they be released as civilians, or can the enemy hire them instead...?

Iran, Mutually Assured Destruction, the Strangelove Scenario
Even the most extreme Christian knows you can't kill a person. FAIL Mmmhmm. I remember this one insane lady that got interviewed in Fox saying that the soldiers dying in Iraq deserved to die because they are going against what their fundamentalist nterpretation of God teaches. And we also can't forget that the KKK and some racist groups out there are more than willing to organize a lynching mob if they could get away with it. Oh well crap... we just turned this thread into another religious thread, didn't we? I say we lynch Imba! He started it!

TV-Links - Shut down permanently
The video viewing website known as http://www.tv-links.co.uk has officially shut down as of October 20, 2007. The site, which hosts links of videos from other websites like veoh.com or stage6 has more than 1000 shows, from music videos, anime, documentaries, TV shows and movies. Although the site itself does not host the actual files, British police have arrested the site manager and shut down the site. News article: http://business.guardian.co.uk/story/0,,2195407,00.html ---- Im not a frequent user, but the past few days, I have been watching some documentaries (some of which are soo old, they can't be found anywhere else) and anime when I have spare time in between my university classes, and at home. Fact is, the British police took it upon themselves after a few media groups complained and investigated the site. Man... I feel like its Suprnova all over again... All those documentaries... They were publicly released damn you! *cries*

Iran, Mutually Assured Destruction, the Strangelove Scenario
I for one, think that countries like Switzerland, Sweden, Canada, etc should have nuclear weapons just for the heck of it. Expecially Canada.

Yeah I couldnt follow the storyline. There was also the part where she goes into the old looking room and there were statues on either side. I thought she was going to do a puzzle... seriously, I wished they added the puzzles...

RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION
Some people tend to stay loyal to a series even if it has gone downhill. I mean alot of people were pretty angry that the first movie was totally butchered by Paul Anderson. But still watched it. For me, the game series was the one that trully introduced me to the joys of flesh eating zombies and mutated monsters. Mmmh... it makes me feel fuzzy inside. ( 4 itchy tasty ) lol That said, I got tickets to a screening 4 hours from now so yay for me! :

Only Bungie can manage to end a game with a cliffhanger like that. Also, there's a rumour theres a new series of games called "Beyond Halo" that might be made. Plus the Halo RTS is still coming up.

Most Frustrating game ever?
Most frustrating I found was Dune 2 on PS1. Its kinda like Red Alert (and was made by the same company) Not once, and I mean never, have I managed to win a single game while playing it...
