  1. (Pardon if this was already posted before, and again if im breaking any forum rules.) Im fairly disturbed by this... Most people would find this unthinkable... Original link from: http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/04/03/school ... index.html It happened on March 27, but still... How does things like this even happen... Those kids aren't right in the head... -.- Edit: warren211 also found this other article... with even younger kids involved. Doesn't look like its related to the first one though. :-k Great. 6th graders too. What is the world coming to?
  2. After suffering from a severe head injury that he sustained when he accidentally fell at his Manhattan home, Kurt Vonnegut, aged 84, has passed away near midnight, April 11, 2007. The renowned satirical novelist and author of at least 19 best selling books, decribed himself as social critic, religious skeptic, free-thinking humanist, and of course, as a satirist. His unique works of literature were first ignored by his fellow collegues, partly because during the time, literary realism was the prefered means of telling stories. And certainly, Vonnegut's absurb and bizarre stories were ridiculed for a time. There was even intances where his novels were banned and mocked for having such pronounced obcinities. However, several of his works eventually became classics like Cat's craddle, Slaughter house five, and God bkess you, Mr. Rosewater. He himself wondered why he had lived so long even when he was a lifelong smoker. He even often joked about his old age. Vonnegut once said that of all the ways to die, he'd prefer to go out in an airplane crash on the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. Personally, I found that his works made my English classes very memorable. Of course, sometimes I didn't understand what messages he was trying to say. However, his unique kind of story telling gave me a new perspective to look at. A sense of humour even at the darkest of situations. Hats off to you Kurt. You will be missed. :cry:
  3. It's not a 4chan meme, it is all over the internet. It was from an episode of South Park, therefore it's not obscure enough to be just a one website origined meme. But its still used in there more than any single website/forum/imageboards. And I did say I did not know where it originated. *shrugs*
  4. Anyone care to explain this? Please? I hear it way too much on this forum, but I don't get it :oops: . Its a 4chan meme... Its basically a nonsensical way to put 2 things together, although no one exactly knows how and why (hence the ????), and still be able to get something amazing out of it. Not quite sure where it originated, but the thing that made it popular in 4chan is this comic. (mature warning) <_< Might as well read this too... :x

  7. Oh yeah because they'll really have access to that in rural Africa. (Incidentally, part of the reason AIDS is so rife in Africa is because the Catholic missions refused to spread birth control, but whatever.) In response to that report Ambassadar brought up, regardless of the results, why were people trying to suppress them anyway? Who on Earth has the right to try and change who they are? Forgive me if that was a rethorical question, but how about their parents? I mean, parents have been teaching alot of things to their children even before the bible, or written history for that matter. :-k EDIT: Well its 3 AM and I didnt fully read ambassador's post... (Meaning im too sleepy to understand...) So please disregard this reply. ^^;

    The CRIA (Canadian equivalent of the RIAA) apparently just raided several Canadian University filesharing hubs at just past midnight today, along with the RCMP (Canadian equivalent of the FBI). Apparently there was a new law that was passed that gives the CRIA and RCMP the power to shut down Canadian filesharing servers. Anyways the server in our University (Carleton U) just went down after a series of very funny conversations about whether or not this is really happening. Before it went down, the admins were quoted saying that the police was knocking at their door... Im sure about 1000+ students are gonna be pissed off by morning today... :XD:
