I think the additional rewards for the choc-chimps should be mentioned. 5 gets a statue, 10 gets a statue, 15 a statue, 20 nothing, 25 the guards are upgraded. Also, every 5 runs gets you a fast melting choc-chimp.

I've my doubts. If a hot girl gets this, you think that'll stop her from getting laid? They're the ones who get pregnant o.O Frankly, I like the ones that DON'T have an obvious Runescape design on them.

Um. I don't know how well one can make runes at ZMI at 57, but from my experience you make all the runes you need to tele with. (Except banking runes.) Just bring a water staff. And honestly, DO fill up the bank if doing ZMI. Do a couple runs banking at Ourania and see how you like it. Lunar Isle is an easier bank but takes more time. And yeah, bloods are 77. http://forum.tip.it/topic/251662-runecrafting-guide-an-insiders-look-at-runecrafting/ <-- Good guide here. Scroll down to the ZMI section. P.S. I suggest you start with a smaller goal then 77, if you hate RC and try from 57 to 77, your gonna burn out.

So... they're going to give us less offense with all the defenders in exchange for.... the ability to soak Summoning damage. And it'll only be Summoning damage that's over 200. Y'know how often you get a hit for 200+ with summoning? Let alone actually BE hit for 200+ with summoning? (This is excluding familiar special attacks, as Protect from Summoning is supposed to easily negate that) I said Jagex would keep their track record of either updating stuff to suck or updating it to be useless. It would appear we now get both. And now defenders are going to be considered trash even MORE when the defence update rolls around. That is, if that update doesn't suck.... I get the feeling that's sarcasm. Couldn't find anything on the forums about that; more importantly, posting "This week in Runescape" on a Friday? Really? Plus, why would defenders be good against familiars anyhow?

Except the experiment you conducted up the page just... uh oh cracks! Better cover up fast for the sake of all them dps equations that you been integrating out of regular distributions. Don't try your experiment again with just a whip on a person with 350+ slash def. Don't even think about the enchanted diamond bolt special and if its special has the same mean damage as regular hits. lol at your nitpicking... you might as well say dragon claws too because they don't follow a uniform distribution either. you clearly missed the main point of my statement in your attempts to make me look bad. which i give you credit for - it's amusing. and no the data from that experiment did not suggest a distribution that was not uniform. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniform_distribution. there is no such thing as a "regular distribution" in statistics. again: Nice pic. Totally going to memegenerator.net now... Why don't you guys both get koraskis sword, extreme restore pots, maybe equivalent str/mage pots... put one person in melee armour, the other in mage defence armour. Take your fight to the duel arena. Fight a bunch of times, whoever wins the most is declared the victor of this argument. No food, stick entirely to koraskis special attack if at all possible. That way you can duke it out AND experiment at the same time :D And everyone else in this thread can just watch and throw rotten tomatoes at you guys.

DERP HERP Y U CUT WILLOW *or any log thats not ivy* WHEN UR 99 HERPPP
Sir_Squab replied to FirenLazah's topic in Rants
Once again, I enjoy arguing, so I'm posting in this thread because it brings me entertainment. I'm going to keep asking if you're OP until you tell me, because if you're not OP, you can't answer my question, thus I have no reason to argue with you. Why is OP unable to turn his public chat off? He is perfectly able to turn his public chat off. -
Um, no. Most items don't degrade by just having them equipped o_O I've heard that PVP armour does, but I have no idea about that. At least once you attack with it once.
-
You know, I have a thought. Is it possible that defense vs accuracy not only affects the chance that you DO hit, but also effects the chance of someone getting high hits vs low hits, providing the person strikes the target?
-
I lol'd Yes it is, and I honestly do not see demand rising that much. if you really want to get into the details of it, the only other purchasable substitute good for a whip is GSes, which are actually quite different. generally GS's are useless but in the cases where they are useful, they are more likely more than 5% better than a whip. OT: ~5% DPS is actually pretty significant, but nothing groundbreaking. i still don't think it's enough to warrant using DD over DFS for situations like melee vs melee pvp. bandos is arguable but if the DD is very hard to get and always risked, perhaps not. You forget. This is the whip. They allow us to change the colour at barb assault - price rises. Change the look of it - price rises. I'm not advocating that it will, but frankly I'd toss a coin. Plus, if enough people THINK it will rise, or it rises slightly, people will buy them because the price is rising. To above poster: 1.) Do you KNOW that? 2.) Most combat in the game does not involve maxed players with identical high end gear except for the shield slot...

Actually, in runescape, as nothing really takes any skill(relative, may have something to do with boredom/grinding), the hardness of skills is mostly, if not entirely defined by how fast the skills are. Runecrafting, in no way, is a hard to level skill(doesn't take any extraordinary talents), but it is said to be the hardest skill because it takes most time. On the flipside, fletching and cooking are seen as easy skills, just because the xp rate is high. If cooking was 30k xp an hour, it'd be considered hard. That said, dungeoneering is a skill that does take a bit more 'skill' than the others, but at the same time, it is also more fun. The difficulty in training dungeoneering depends largely on two factors- teammates and binds, and we can't just change the balance. It is next to confirmed ~45 dungeoneering will get another bind, so with 4 binds at level 100 and 5 at 120, i think we are set in the number of items we can possibly allow to bring into dungeons. While some binds will forever be more worthwhile than others(mage gloves/boots, for example), having to make this choice also adds difficulty. I can see how swapping one 'normal' bind for a second 'ammo' bind could work(further in the light of the upcoming new bind slot), and i can see allowing the binding of the same tier of the same combat class gloves/boots in one normal slot, but not introducing new binds for these items. As for bind bank, it's a good idea, but it'd need good balancing. I can see it working assuming you have 10 normal bank slots and ~3-4 ammo slots and can only access the bank while you reset your prestige to not allow making dungeons much easier(changing weapons for what specific dungeons you are doing). I think this would keep the difficulty intact while allowing you to bind and use items that are not always the best, but add variety. 45 DG? Really? I always had the impression it was going to be 75DG. Just because a quest unlocks something doesn't mean you have the level to use it. Beat this 45 DG quest and you have the ability to buy an extra bind slot or just get one at 75 makes more sense then another one at 45.... I still think most of you don't get where i'm coming from. The WHOLE point of the idea is not to benefit ANYONE, but only add variety. This is the most important aspect of any changes that may come to the bind system. If people want more variety, sure, have some, but if the need for variety is actually masking the need for easier dungeoneering, then no thanks. Per reset would keep the difficulty intact as much as possible while allowing you to use and swap rare binds without the fear of losing them. Variety. Also, Obtaurian, which grimys idea do you particularly like that much? Also, another twist to the bind bank would be for it to coexist with your normal bank in the way that the items in your bind bank count toward your bank space- thus you could bank bind alot of items, but it'd also limit your normal bank items, and jagex wouldn't have to worry about this system needing more memory space. You know, I really think 10-20 items per account wouldn't add that much, relatively speaking. Frankly, I'd just love this system because I could try out a celestial staff if I ever saw one without giving up a melee bind.

Definitely doing this once I get around to upgrading the camp.
-
Probably defender, but I'm no expert.

Oh. Snap. Did not realize this. In that case, a tank setup might be worth it. At least, if you have a perm team. Ranger with hex and sag p++, mager with surge and celestial staff (or maybe empowered fire) melee'er with...melee stuff, tanker with plate, skiller.... That'd be a cool team imo. Even then, hood is one piece. Soo really, it's hood vs platebody, unless you can bind sets in the future :P

Damnit! And I have 27 accumulators from preparing for Nomad! When I did it for the quest I walked the WHOLE way, across desert/alkaharid/lumby/varrock/fally/taverly/wwm/catherby/camelot/fish guild/gnome stronghold. Wasn't until after the quest that I found out you can run to nardah carpet-->shanty, get thrown to port sarim jail-->craft guild baloon to gnome stronghold. I cried a little bit. Ooo. Does that work better then Eagles? Correction. cat-monkey-camel mutants that have died and are now ghosts. No. Man this quest is the most annoying quest to come out in recent memory. They forgot all they've learned about not requiring a metric ton of random items, not requiring a ton of running around without providing teleports, AND they made us run across the entire map for no real narrative reason. This is horrible. I used spellswap the entire time. Between my bank, Shantay pass and the GE I had no trouble with items. Although I admit, without the GE and without the bananas in my bank, this would've been more annoying. Also, you just need imagination and a few extra quests/skills to not run around the map. And people have mentioned a bunch of different ways to get to Ape Atoll. Note: if using spellswap, turn on ancients right after you freeze it. Spellswap lasts longer then a frozen choc-ice. Irony is, I did the choc-ice with spellswap then switched to ancients for the 2nd boss.... Ah well, I plan to finish off the monkey camp anyways.

Rune knives/darts and dragon darts are pretty comparable Anyway, defender+rapier loses to dfs+rapier in pvp... this is supported by both tons of personal experience AND a lot of actual research defender is pretty bad for supreme and obviously useless for arma, arguable for bandos but i personally prefer dfs Comparable? Excluding price Dragon Darts are BETTER then rune darts, end of discussion. Sure, they aren't significantly better, but they still are better. 30mil is "filthy rich"? Thats merely investing for 4 months of manage thy kingdom with only 10min playing time per week working on it. And besides, the only dragon slaying alternative is either the crappy anti-dragon shield or 85 herblore which can easily cost more than 100mil. If you are just looking for a shield, you got dragon square and a blessed spirit shield for those who do quests. Truely "filthy rich" people dont even care about those craps. You know, the only thing ZS/SS really shine on is waterfiends. Although ZS is used on dragons by people without chaotics, and Koraskis sword with d defender will now be better for that I think... Then again, ZS is *THE* weapon at Corp.

Preliminary Analysis of Damage Soak And DDefender (Safe PvP)
Sir_Squab replied to TheAncient's topic in Data and Research
think a little harder Squab. How exactly did you get the number 1.1 from 10% damage soak, and does that really make sense. *blinks* no, it doesn't. Right, we aren't increasing by 10% >.< *looks at your math again* righto. Er, still don't think it'd be multiplicatively added. Visible boosts aren't. Yay. Please rise claws. -
Scrolls - the next step of game developement!
Sir_Squab replied to Syd's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Yeah that's what I meant, there are so many different ways to add them. And they don't certainly need to be overpowered. What I could think now for example... Scroll that gives you a slightly better chance to get gems when mining? Maybe a scroll to give you slight chance to get random higher level ore from mining? Maybe scroll to give you chance to save a plank when constructing? Scroll to give you better rate when cutting willows for example? Possibilities are endless! I REALLY think you need to learn what kinds of boosts you can get from these items you seem to loath, and not suggest we turn them into scrolls. For example, better chance of gems is a charged glory. From your first post, you use less prayer by wearing gear with a prayer bonus, and lower chance of getting caught thieving is in the gloves of silence and Ardougne cloak. I know your trying to steer away from ITEMS that give you bonuses, but there's no need for a scroll to replace one of them. Perhaps a crafting scroll? For, er, leather? Chance of saving leather when crafting? Depending on the type of leather (i.e. cowhide, snakehide, different types of dragon hide...) Also, why would the barbarians know about smithing or herblore or farming? The things from DG, you aren't like, paying barbarians for this knowledge, your paying for stuff that has been smuggled outside of Damonheim. -
Not that I'm anywhere close, but I think I've heard figures are somewhere near 300k. Well, I've heard 300k somewhere before, but that might also of been exp per hour >.>

DERP HERP Y U CUT WILLOW *or any log thats not ivy* WHEN UR 99 HERPPP
Sir_Squab replied to FirenLazah's topic in Rants
And your trolling He's not trolling. He's pointing out that the OP is irrational. No harm no foul. I disagree.... there's a fine line between, say, trolling and just being rude or blunt (i.e. saying what you think without regard for the persons feelings.) However, being blunt doesn't involve personal insults; it just means if someone sucks at something, you tell them "you suck." Not "you suck (insult). I draw the line at the word butthurt.     -
Thing is, I'd rather not specialize. Empowered Fire Staff + Surgebox + Melee weapons feels a lot more useful to me then Celestial Staff + Surgebox. All I need is a corpsethorn log. (And to finish these last 3k maples.) yea, although a meleer is faster then a mager. a mager and a meleer is faster then 2 meleers. if i where to join a long term 5 player team i would use mage (at least as a secondry class), and go safe spot all them forgoten warriors ^^ my binds are: spear staff (i cant remember what one but i know its non elemental) surge box i put my ring classes on to mage and skiller. (after all, binds and ring classes go hand in hand, so really on a topic about binding you should note them) i wonder, would a meat-shield build be usefull? bind plate body and shield with the tank ring. enter the room first as to take the hits so your team can kill them of with little need to eat hopefully overall makeing your team use less food. obviusly this would only be for people you know and not random noobs from 117. No, because RS has no form of Mob control. Also, you'd have no mage def, but then again there's always pro mage... EDIT: Turns out if you have defense setting for attack setting, you attract monsters o.O That being said, I think you'd be best off with plateskirt and platebody and just taking an novite/dragonfire shield at the start of a Dungeon. (Plateskirt and Platebody because the skirt balances out the bodies lack of crush def. That's just me.) /End Edit Think is, this isn't like the rest of RS where you can just get potions easily and charge prayer easy. You can't GO around a large with turmoil and strong melee potions, you'd run out of money or waste too much time making herbs. Not to metion you only get 2 altar recharges. Oh and maxed ring isn't cheap either; especially if you want the str AND accuracy boosting one. I saw a discussion somewhere on this. Verdict was that 1 Rapier + 4 2H > 5 2H, but 2H > Rapier because sometimes you need high accuracy. Although, rapier + surgebox, just use air surge for primal/prom warriors.... I definitely agree with the hood thing. Rather pointless unless everyone has one. Still, another thing about hood vs armour, you can MAKE armour. Sure, it's not a primal plate, or a prom plate (I can't use primal) but it's still something. Whereas if you don't bind hood. there's nothing that does anything similar.
-
+1 to that, because it's Muggiwhiplar talking about fight caves. Speaking of which, if your guide is still around Muggi, why isn't it in your siggy o.O
-
This is pretty false... it's useful for bandos, arma, dks. in pvp DFS > defender for meleers and is the fourth best shield behind Div>CKS>Ely for rangers. Lol no. Prove it  Can't prove it with stats, but from what I've seen a lot of the players on this board think defender + rapier is the best for everything save solo'ing a couple bosses. You make it sound like it's NOT guaranteed to be a better version of the rune defender. If it only had defense bonuses, it'd be the dragon kiteshield instead. And dragon items always have better stats then their rune equivalent.

Preliminary Analysis of Damage Soak And DDefender (Safe PvP)
Sir_Squab replied to TheAncient's topic in Data and Research
I think making damage soak only take effect after 200 damage is kinda arbitrary. I mean it's a nice number based on the current state of PVP and boss hunting. Because it's low enough to change PVP. But not high enough to make a difference in slayer/some boss hunting. But it will lead to weird side effects. Fast weapons with low max hits will benefit more. What about dragon claws? the attacks land 4 separate hits. If you hit a 400-200-100-100, only the 400 will so damage soak will be halved for dragon claws in contrast to other weapons. and what about low lvl PKing, such as in f2p? it won't affect them at all. I would assume additively; it is easier to code. hard to know for certain. If they're visible bonuses, they add. However, I don't get how your multiplication idea works; generally, you get HIGHER numbers when they're compounded vs just added. E.G. 1.1 * 1.1 = 1.21. To above poster: the dragon defender is only useful if you have super antifires, so you can use a 1h stabbing weapon with a ddefender. These 1h stabbing items include Koraskis sword and the chaotic rapier/longsword... -
Lesse. Your way of paying for RS membership involves a membership in something else. I smell a scam. Besides, if you can pay for that membership, why can't you just pay for RS in the first place? Also, the herblore guide looks stupid. It's basically make unfinished potions. Which might be profitable, but people want herb EXP. Frankly, I find this whole post suspect.
