  1. Sigh. Stop construing a false point and arguing against it, its a logical fallacy. Stop saying stupid shit like "I doubt gold sellers have x amount of money" because you have no data to back up that stance. Also, saying "chinese gold farmers" is flat out wrong, as proven. You are calling all gold farmers Chinese, or else the only ones this would apply to. Another flaw. And ya pulli, I'm calling you a liar. You said that "its never even occurred to you people would do it" which is flat out BULL SHIT. For that to be true, you'd have to do at least some of the following: 1.) Not understand what many bots are used for (farming gold to sell) 2.) Not understand that like probably every other MMO game out there, there is a black market for goods 3.) Never have had your chat set to public in the past few years 4.) Never seen any chat in the GE/sometimes edge over the past few years 5.) Never read any of the threads about botting/scamming/people selling gold on any forum ever 6.) Never seen a gold selling website ad. 7.) Never had someone mention it to you. And the list goes on. So ya, I'm calling you a liar. When I'm done with RS, I'll probably sell my account to pay school bills. Same for Wow. I have legal reasons (as well as recent developments) that back up my belief that, no matter what the TOS say, Jagex/Blizzard can not actually claim full or partial ownership of your account. I also refuse to accept the argument that hacking/scamming are bad without a good moral standpoint for these statements, for by accepting that argument I also accept that any account/character has some tangible worth. Thus I'm stuck in a double bind. Either hacking is bad because for the tangible harm it causes, or it isn't because none of that which was taken was in any ways your to begin with. Heck, you can't even compare the later to taking something someone else has borrowed, because that item, even though it didn't belong to the person who you took it from, still has tangible value. I'm trying to think of something else that has no tangible value that could be used TBH. Can anyone think of something? I'd be interested if anyone has any LOGICAL and not stupid answers or arguments for/against this stance. [/hide] those gold selling sites actually work? IMO I tried to research any of those and they had no payment number for customer relations. So they can't pay taxes nor can they work apart from amateur level. That's something I would never ever trust nor consider "large". It's just like spam: do you consider selling your old friends who you now never speak to spambots? The cost of a character is purely emotional & that is what makes hacking bad. All my items i gained myself, those are worth every second I spent and I know exactly how for each of the items I spent time to make money over the years. Hacking just destroys that. Are you a too cold economist to actually understand this? Can't you see the difference between emotional value being worth a lot more than any "tangible" value. Want an example: well look at ANY robbery; what people hate most is when their things like wedding ring, old photos & art that is painstakingly gained is stolen. Purely because of the memory those bring. In rs you also have a lot of value on each item that you earn: it is something you worked for. And the fact of working alone makes it valuable. Not the actual amount of time or the worth on dubious sites. Also, I don't know what you mean by "no payment number for customer relations" but I'm pretty sure people who sell illegal drugs don't have one either, nor do they pay taxes. Yet they work apart from an amateur level and is considered a large section of the economy and (certain) people who sell drugs have a large business from it and are, essentially, professionals at it. Note: I'm not trying to compare the drug trade to RWT. I'm trying to use the drug trade as a counter example to his statements. You do have a point of hacking being wrong regardless of whether or not the items are worth a monetary value. I find it funny tho "the fact of working alone makes it valuable. Not the actual amount of time" Um, people value things based on how much time it took to earn it. How mad will someone be if I hacked their maxed account the spent years working on, sell their p hats, bot with their account until it gets perm-banned? Mad. How mad would they get if replacing that account from scratch took 12 hours of work? Significantly less mad.
  2. Well the gambling clans in long run transfer the cash from poor to the rich. Which makes rich people able to afford items with higher and higher price, while the gap between poor and rich grow and grow. Of course this is somewhat negated by gambling hosts real world trading the cash back to the poor. Which creates a circle. However, as the gap between rich and poor grows bigger, it gets harder and harder for legitimate players to obtain many items (see: rares). That leads people to buying cash from RWT or gambling. Which just eventually makes things worse and worse. Come up with an example other then rares. Rares don't have any impact on gameplay* and really are for players to either invest in and hope they go up in price, or for the snobbyness factor. *By gameplay I mean they don't help in any combat or skilling scenarios.
  3. The harpies have a 100 hp celebration for the wall! woo! 100hp
  4. If the justice system is anything resembling competent, the guy will at the very least spend a few years in jail for pulling a fake gun on him. Doesn't surprise me. Pretty much every currency in an mmo that has player to player trading has real world value. At that point, currency is currency. Who cares if it's electronic? A... significant amount of real world banking is done purely electronically. I'd honestly expect that in the future, mmo cash would be treated very similarly to currency. (I also expect it to be at least 10 years away.) And pulling a fake gun on someone doesn't surprise me either. We're talking about the buying and selling of goods that aren't available legally, even if it isn't illegal. Gray area here. Although... come to think of it, it's kinda dumb to pull a gun, even a fake one on the trade of something that isn't illegal. After all, they can tell the cops knowing that worst case scenario Jagex finds out and sues them. Meanwhile, the other guy gets locked up. Wtf? How does that work? It isn't particularly morally wrong to sell RSGP and in no way warrants a gun being shoved in your face, even if it did turn out to be a bb gun which is significantly less likely to kill you.
  5. Ah, good old thieving training in east Ardougne. Those were the days. All those stalls to steal from, NPCs to pickpocket, few chests in nearby buildings.
  6. Jagex says the plan is to balance the abilities so people who want to just casually kill stuff without worrying about any abilities can. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen.
  7. Possible that the stuff Jagex wants to fix/change require more effort then a simple teak. Also, pretty sure WoW has more resources then RuneScape. Although, they could at least post something in the forum weekly about what they're doing? Idk.
  8. Write a note then kill myself. [bleep] you fate. You hear that? [bleep] you.
  9. Er, explain please? Also, to stay on topic, I really hope after they get the combat update all ready and stuff they fix up dg to match it, rather then have a (probably) several month long time-period in which dg is really difficult to train, at least at previous rates.
  10. He hates it because it apparently makes the game similar to every other mmo on the market and because it ruins pures. These aren't good reasons for hating it. You know why so many mmo on the market as similar? Because there's a formula to making a successful mmo. No one complains about how virtually every vehicle on the road has 4 wheels and most have 4 doors. Frankly, most of the combat in rs isn't any more exciting then turn based combat games. Combat could use an update. Also mentions ruining pures. Pure should never have been good in the first place. A player with lower att/str then a pure but higher def should get an advantage. RS isn't a game where you specialize your character. There is no "jack of all trades, master of none" because RS has "jack of all trades, master of all trades." So, the concept of building a character specifically for pvp is contrary to what Runescape goes for. He failed to mention anything to do with the fact that the combat update is obviously several months from being ready, not one month. It's obvious from playing the beta that lots of changes need to be done, but these large flaws are excusable in beta. Also, one non-adressed issue from the beta, although one that's difficult to address until the game does live: pvp and armour. You risk your armour in pvp, meaning you want to avoid wearing the really expensive armour because you don't want to die in it. Yet, considering the health buff you get, you get a HUGE advantage wearing higher level armour. This creates an even bigger gap in pvp between those in budget gear and those rich and/or skilled enough to wear epic armour, like nex gear. Even barrows is a big risk to a lot of players. (You don't want to spend more time trying to earn back armour you lost in pvp then actually playing pvp.)
  11. The Starcraft thing was because of the platform type of thing. Dunno how to explain what I'm saying thoroughly. Zerkers should be ok, but overall pures, I don't see much of a life for them. And this is literally goin' to ruin the game.. Next they'll up level caps to 120 all skills. What I think when I read your posts: http://tvtropes.org/...gedItNowItSucks http://tvtropes.org/...n.RuinedFOREVER I agree, I can't see this being ready in a month.
  12. LASER FISH TNPW post something related to a webcomic.
  13. Interesting, I thought about making one for the lolz,. Do your friends know you have an online dating profile? If mine did I would get ripped a new one! Also, did you use your real name or make up an elaborate alter-ego ? Why is it bad if your friends know?
  14. With these game engine flaw exploits Jagex can and does have an excellent detection system and will patch the method you used very rapidly. However, I can tell you something as stupid like a glitch that forces other players to stake everything in their inventory could be possible. It obviously hasn't been found yet, but how would Jagex know to patch something like this - or even look for it? They dont, they rely on spying on known glitchers and hoping that they will sell each other or post the glitch on youtube out out of rivalries. Again without players like this working for Jagex (and getting paid higher then abuse would net them ;)) such things are unavoidable in rs. As someone that does QA for a software company irl, I can speak of such limitations with experience. When you understand what Jagex IS AND ISN'T capable of (and blizzard either for that matter) you will stop being infinitely baffled when game breaking glitches occur. Er, I don't know what posts you ready, but the last post I made I was trying to point out how Jagex can't realistically catch all these bugs. And why a dedicated group would be able to find glitches Jagex didn't. Maybe I wasn't clear enough. What I'm saying is, why don't they have a detection system for when people start making multiple billions? A person making multiple billions should raise flags. Now, maybe it is hard to set up a detection system for players making that kind of money. If so, I'd like an explanation on why it is so.
  15. You're right, the people who say they wouldn't abuse it probably haven't sold before and they're not experienced in that area at all. If you know how to sell safely and fast you wouldn't pass up on taking advantage of this glitch, regardless of what they say now. Well... duh? That's because the only people who know how to sell safely and fast are the type of people who sell rsgp in the first place. Or at least seriously considering it. I will, because unless you haven't visited any major cities in Runescape for the past year then you have seen bots advertizing gold selling sites. And if you had your private on you got PMs from gold selling sites. I constantly get emails about viagra & cheap taiwan/russian "brides". Yet when I'm at holiday in Taiwan I didn't think about sex. I agree with you man. Who the hell sells ingame currency for gold? What, do people just show up at the dude's house with a briefcase of gold bars, and gives it to him once rsgp has been handed over? Currency man. Use actual currency. It's a lot easier to pay someone through the internet via paypal or a form of online banking them getting them actual gold. Plus, I really doubt many RS players or RWT shops just have a stack of gold bars ready to give to people for rs gold.
  16. I found using an ult on a portal really hard. Have to get my adrenaline that high, keep it that high, and use it on the portal before it dies. Those games were fast. and some games I barely got enough for an ult before it ended. And those portals die really fast lol. Not that I had trouble getting the 5k/game. I think. Honestly, I didn't pay that much attention o_O Never got bugged about not doing enough tho.
  17. I hope you realize that not all players would take advantage of a glitch like that tho. A lot of it would be lack of knowledge combined with an unwillingness to seek that knowledge. (Assuming you can make that money and get away with it legally.) Also, it raises the question of how the players here are running into that glitch. Say one works with 10m and doubles it. Does the person abuse this to max cash and beyond? That's what they'd need to do before they could start making a fortune off this dupe, and a lot of players wouldn't go that far for fear of being banned. (Or at all.) Personally I have trouble believing the rs gold market is big enough to make 16k/h for a long time. Not that I've looked into it, so I'll have to give it the benefit of the doubt.
  18. Ah yes, the days when full rune was awesome... only on f2p of course, but still... Wonder what f2p is like now. Want to say it's bad and crappy compared to the past, I haven't gone on f2p in ages and I can't tell how big my nostalgia glasses are. Also, the days when you could keep private on and not get spammed by gold sellers? Walk around and not see gold selling bots? I remember when tiaras came out. Got 22 crafting, made a bunch of them. People would pay a fair amount of money for that new item. Got my first rune set that way. Shit, you could make a topic "First Rune Set."
