  1. Because blunt force trauma will kill something on your television every time... Battlefield: Bad Company - no spoilers needed because this general situation happens to you once a map... I'm running off to the next area I need to capture. I peek my head around a building and I see a tank - an enemy tank. So I quickly duck back behind the corner hoping that it didn't see me. Too late... *boom* whole wall disappears and I'm left sitting there thinking "crap... this isn't going to end well." Just then, second shot comes right at me and *boom*, now I'm dead...
  2. Hmmm... day or 2 old topic but no responses... lets see if I have any kind of insight with this... I'm not familiar with VB08 so I can't be sure if anything I'm about to say works, but wouldn't it be possible to check where the click was on the picture (pixel x pixel)? If so, then simply create 1 single Subroutine for when they click on the picture and use that to establish where the click was. Then, depending on where the click falls in based on ranges you'll set up, have it execute 1 of X-many other Subroutines related to each individual area of the picture, but not actually attached to the picture directly in terms of how the program is executed. So as a general layout of the code, you could have something to the following. -On click of the picture- *code to find which pixel exactly was clicked* If (location) was between (X1,Y1) and (X2,Y2) Then Run (code 1) Elseif (location) was between (X3,Y3) and (X4,Y4) Then Run (code 2) etc etc So while you aren't actually "dividing" the image, you are creating a code that can determine which area, that you would have established before, was clicked in and execute the code appropriately. Sorry I can't be more help, but I left all of my reference books back on my campus (Christmas holiday atm) and those are all Visual Basic 6 books regardless, so I can't really give you exact code.
  3. Absolutely! Best incident I had like that was with a friend. We were doing Sugar Rush, both of us on Bikes. We're coming through the factory (after the path splits, joins together, then splits into 3 routes again; just before the corn field). I'm on the top route and my friend comes flying out one of the lower routes. So he begins taking off down the straight and I get a heck of a run off the top. I land right beside him, and at that exact moment, my momentum crashes, which puts me at the exact speed my friend is going. I throw a punch, and then my momentum decides to catch back up and I just rocket off again. My friend didn't know what hit him. All he knew was that I appeared out of nowhere, and then he was crashing on the ground. Only problem I've encountered with this game is that I had my data go corrupt on me because of some kind of issue with me trying to invite people into an online room, and as I'm doing that, the host of my group starts searching for a game. I managed to recover from that, however, and like I said, I have all the offline races done, but that was the only annoying thing (and I know I'm not alone with that issue; there's a list of about 25 people on the official Playstation forums about people who have had data corruption). What makes it worse is that the save data is copy protected, so there is absolutely no way to back up that save file.
  4. This is a really good game. I've already beaten the offline mode and I'm fairly close to maxing out online. What I find hilarious about online mode, however, (which other people seem to hate me for at random intervals) is that with the improved punching controls, it's easier for me to knock someone off of their bike on my way past. Almost every time I punch someone off their bike, immediately I hear someone yelling over their microphone "who the [bleep] did that?!" or "why the [bleep] did you do that?!" Uhhh... because you're able to, and if it gives me an advantage then I'll use it? One way or another, it's hilarious to me and I've made many "friends" doing that.
  5. Place all information regarding the monsters in the new quest, While Guthix Sleeps, here. As this is a very high level quest, all information will be greatly appreciated. Prayer works. Their armour looks like the normal Khazard armour, at least to me. However that doesn't prove anything :P
  6. http://incredibots.com/?robotID=31314 Yay for over-engineering! Takes a little getting used to, but if you can keep this thing balanced, then you can get all of them. Now time to try that fishing one using a similar concept...
  7. Through a stroke of luck, I managed to get U-Turn to work. http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=4138726 Now to work on the other levels <_<
  8. It wasn't the router. I had also tried using the same wall socket that my router was using to connect straight into my computer; same problem. Either way, I talked with the techies this morning and they said they got reports about it about the same time that I did. They said that the issue should be resolved today, and sure enough everything is working now. So this topic is no longer necessary; thank you for your help everyone.
  9. Wasn't that the judge who said that? I suppose "tangibility" shouldn't be held as the defining factor of what constitutes theft. What it should be is "something with real and monetary value in the real world." Due to Jagex's banning on trading for real-world items/cash, GP has no monetary value except for the black market value, which obviously cannot be applied since it is illegal. No value, no theft. No theft, no theft charges. But I suppose if it gets the kids more community service as punishment, it won't be all bad. That'll teach the little brats to take a game too seriously...
  10. How does this matter? Video Gamers keep up with new sources of entertainment, etc, because it would probably coincide with most of what they do in the first place. Oooh, a whole 10%. Big deal. When you realize the total number of people this study likely relates to, yes, it is. If I were to say that 10% of Americans do not drink any Soda/Pop on any given day, that still means 30 million people, roughly. When taken as a statistical number, perhaps it's not much, but put into perspective and it can be quite significant. Good to see we're being treated as walking wallets. Consumer spending is the source of economic growth, and to be quite frank, America needs help with that. I like this study because it means that no longer can we (read "video gamers") be portrayed as the nerd with the square classes and tape across the bridge. This shows that we are more likely to actually do productive things with our time and within society than people claim we are when we sit on our butts and play these games. To criticism about 9% playing sports - I read that as an attempt to play sports, not necessarily a natural ability to play it as pros. I can relate to that statistic, because I am actually relatively obese and lazy, yet Gym/P.E. was always one of my more favorite classes in school. I wanted to play those games; I wanted to participate in sports; I didn't care I wasn't necessarily good because I played for the entertainment. When we played flag football, I couldn't catch the ball 95% of the time and I couldn't cover a receiver worth crap. But I didn't care because I was actually playing. (I'm beginning to rant... moving on) @BlueLancer - of course your friends are going to act elitist. They're getting paid to play video games; the rest of us play for entertainment. Because they're getting paid, it "means" that they are obviously better than the rest of us and deserve it. And on a disclaimer note: I realize this whole post may have come off a little rantish and mean sounding, but it wasn't intended to sound mean. The idea was that finally the stereotypes that have been held against me have been proven wrong and I'm glad about it.
  11. The Hypercam thing, no. But if you need to get the Movie Maker file into .avi, then you need to click File > Save Movie File, which will put it together as an avi.
  12. Guess I'll do that tomorrow. As far as I can tell, the IT Desk is located near my first class and its closed on Sunday, so hopefully they'll be able to tell what's up... *thinks for a moment* Suppose I should take my laptop to dinner with me and connect to the near-campus-wide wireless network. That would determine whether its the connection to my dorm's connection or my connection with the school. Like I mentioned before, the computer's in the school's computer labs gave me no issues at all connecting to the sites. (EDIT: well then... I can get onto the sites just fine from any other network on campus. It seems to just hate mine...)
  13. Yeah, they are using those. However, I have every system of mine registered right now. My PS3's, my laptop's and my router's MAC addresses are all registered with the system. Going to go try these suggestions real quick. EDIT1: Proxy worked... Wonder what the school has against XKCD... (REEDIT: Now i just have to find which proxy worked for me the first time...) EDIT2: Resetting router did nothing, undoing my Static IP did nothing, forcing my router to change my IP did nothing, IE couldn't load the page. 14. Explain that one to me. I'm not being redirected, I'm being flat-out denied. When my virus scanners finish, I'll get around to that. I only turned it off for a moment to see if it was blocking something for some reason. It's already back up. Hmmm... not that I can think of... [opens Windows Search to check what appeared on that date] Don't let Firefox keep the history. If someone wants to see where I'm going, I'm going to make them dig for it. No effect. Could you explain that process (setting one up)? I've never had issues like this, so I wouldn't know about work arounds like that. Any suggestions for one too? I tried to connect to the internet on my PS3 earlier as well, and I was getting an error connecting to the Playstation Network. At first, I could connect fine, but then I couldn't access EA online servers. Then I couldn't access the network at all. I receive the error code 8002AD3D, which doesn't really tell me much, and when I do a connection test, it's able to obtain an IP address and get an internet connection. I can use its browser, however it ends up with the exact same issues. Also, I have my laptop assigned a Static IP address with my router for port forwarding reasons, however I did that at least two weeks ago.
  15. Alright, so this started on about Thursday. All of a sudden, I'm not able to access some websites, and I have no clue why. Firefox 2.0.0.17 Any add-ons deactivated, with no affect Error is "The connection has timed out: The server at [site] is taking too long to respond." It happened suddenly and all at once. I'm on a college network (that evidently does not have a reverse DNS hostname, according to Pure_MageUK), and I have a router connected through that network as well. I've disabled my firewall to no affect, and I've even tried connecting through the connection directly (no router), and again it did nothing. The strange thing is that the school's computers could connect to these sites just fine. I'm running virus scans right now just to make sure, but does anyone have any ideas?
  16. By that logic, the RWT rule is meaningless. "Game items must only be exchanged for other items/services within the game. Exchanging game items for items or other benefits in other online games, real-life money or other real-life benefits is not allowed. " If the ownership of a game item isn't changing (since according to your argument they belong to Jagex), then it's hardly being exchanged. You can't exchange something if you don't lose anything, and the other person doesn't receive anything... I fail to see how that applies. RWT still applies because the seller is selling goods he has no right to sell. And you are exchanging the right to borrow the item from Jagex. You aren't exchanging ownership rights. In this case, the tangible property is your right to borrow it from Jagex, which is only transferable by trading other borrowed rights from Jagex. I suppose it really doesn't matter. This was a court in Holland (or the Netherlands, whatever you want to call it), and that doesn't mean that the same arguments will hold up in America, Europe, or other countries.
  17. There's a serious flaw in these arguments here that the Lawyers are bringing up. Neither of those kids own their accounts or the items on it. Therefore, it's out of their jurisdiction to punish them for a transfer from one account to another, even if it was done maliciously. Runescape Terms and Conditions (Intellectual Property Rights): You agree that all intellectual property or other rights in any game character, account and items are and will remain our property. The kids can't be charged with theft and the victim can't charge them with theft because he was never in possession of the goods. Aggravated Assault and/or Assault with a Deadly Weapon, maybe, but the theft charges are inapplicable. Jagex gives you the right to "borrow" the items; you don't own them.

Ha, yeah right. NASCAR, listen to DEI? Stewart breaking his winless streak makes for a much better story. Such is the beauty of NASCAR. -.- Yeah, but now that that story has been made, it gets even better when they strip him of his victory two days later... and then Tony has to work all over again to break a 49-race win streak. At the very least, I hope they give him back second.

I seriously hope that Regen's team appeals that call. That race definitely was his. It was either go below the line or spin Tony out (and to be honest, I'd have had no problem if he did). And then there's the fact that because he did the pass, they relegated him to 18th position, rather than put him back in second.
  20. The Polyphony F1 car works great for the oval Although it's top speed is slow, its gets through the corners very fast, It's what I used to complete both GT3 and GT4's oval enduros. Otherwise a fully upgraded Suzuki Escudo. (Super fast, mediocre cornering) Ewww... The Escudo was horrible. I mean having 1800hp after fully tuning it in GT3 was nice, but hell it couldn't even make the turns at Test Track without braking half the times for me. If you need a good, cheap endurance car, just look for an S-class car (the true racing cars). If you want a trick, what you need to do is just keep doing the Super Speedway 150 (I assume we're talking GT3) with any fast vehicle (I think everyone else uses street cars basically) and keep doing it until you get your F-1. Then you have a car that will dominate anything else.

fix'd Not enough Gordon fans around and/or not enough brave enough to say that they like the driver who is the butt of everyone's gay jokes (no pun intended, really) when they try to diss him. I just hope he actually wins something this year. He's running out of opportunities to win and he's yet to go a season without winning. Hell, he even won the inaugural Brickyard 400 in his rookie year, that's got to count for something. Isn't Homestead the only track he's yet to win at? (I know Phoenix was one, but of course he changed that with his Dale Earnhardt tribute last year).

I remember that wreck. Actually, that damage is kind of a safety feature in itself when you take physics into account. Each time a piece of that metal flies off, it takes some of the energy of the wreck with it. So when sheet metal flies off, a little energy is taken, and when the entire axle fell off it took a decent amount with it. Also realize that was one of the Winston Cup-style cars as well, not the current 'brick' of a car that is driven. Also, the 'brick' design makes it so that when the car slides sideways like it did, it's not as likely to lift up, which is what caused most of the problem there because of when the car bounced back down. Now, you could send the car sideways at 180mph through the grass and all it'd do is rip up the sod a little bit. The car would be fine providing it didn't hit the wall or anything and you just come in, get four tires that aren't flat, and get back into the race. EDIT: Just watched the wreck again and noticed that the right-rear tire came off before he spun, which explains a little bit more why he went airborne. Still, the aerodynamics of the new car prevent that mostly.

Perhaps, but the impact was in a similar manner to the way Dale Earnhardt hit when he was killed. The fact that this dude survived both that, and that roll (which was a lot more violent then it may seem) without even a scratch shows that at a bare minimum, these cars are exponentially safer. Even if Dale hadn't died in his crash, he would've been in significant pain and/or out for several races nursing a neck injury of some kind. And even the tracks are safer. The SAFER barriers that they have on the tracks make any impact safer on the drivers. The only complaint about safety I have is the Road Courses - specifically the Tire Barriers... Fast forward to minute mark 2:10 or so to see the wreck from the start. The tires bounced the car right back into the middle of the traffic, which make that wreck significantly worse than it would've been if he had just hit the wall and stuck there. Thankfully that's a slow corner, so it's not as bad as it could've been. Either way you argue it, these cars are significantly safer since the days of Dale Earnhardt.

[hide=quotes] I agree, it's only good when they crash and burn. Even when some people die in those crashes? :| Have you seen how those things are built? No ever dies in those mother-[bleep]ing fortresses. Go try telling Dale Earnhardt Jr. that kk ;) [/hide] The COT and the old Winston Cup car were built completely different. After that string of deaths in '00-'01, major safety innovations have been made. If you think Dale Earnhardt's crash was hard... Realize this dude was doing like 190 going into the corner... He walked away with no injuries at all... Now try telling me that people won't die in crashes. Also, Dale Earnhardt's death was linked to a seatbelt issue I believe. Whiplash is much more painful when there isn't a seatbelt there.
  25. If we can get sufficient donations, it could be a possibility. I don't know the exact amount of money Tip.It gains in ad revenue and how much of that goes into server costs, however if we have the pop-ups then we probably need them. It's either that, or we could start charging to use our forums like RuneHQ does...
