I think I might have a suggestion regarding the split of this. We could host multiple contests at once, but each person could only enter one contest at a time. We could have one that is Runescape-related, one that is Off-Topic based, and there could also be another one that caters to those with more creative skills, such as the Art/Gallery groups. This way, people can enter whichever category they feel they have the best chance to win in, and there is no discrimination against people based on intellect or skills.

fourm level (feather unicorn horn ...) change
darkblade986 replied to Ibcrootbeer's topic in Forum Updates and Suggestions
Getting a custom benefit at such a high post count would just encourage spamming one way or the other. While I agree that some additional ranks at these really high levels (perhaps we add TzTok-Jad in Training at 15,000 or so), but a custom rank would just be too cumbersome in such quantities. Also, if getting this custom rank fell to the decision of the administrators, then if they decide not to give someone such a rank, then I'm sure someone would be angry at them, which would put undue stress on the administrators when they have to explain that they don't think that they should get the rank. At this point, a Custom Rank assigned every few months via contests is the best way to do it. -
The poison is a known thing and we need to get around to fixing that. As for retreating, that becomes a matter of interpretation. Pokemama just identified what our current definition of retreat is (the Revenant could be absolutely slaughtering you and disappear when you have 1hp). Since these are the first monsters that do this, we probably won't add a new field into the Bestiary for them anytime soon, unless Jagex makes more monsters that randomly disappear on you.

The ore is too impure and you fail to refine it
darkblade986 replied to therehadtobe1's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
I think Jagex needs to start making rings f2p and that would solve the issue completely. The issue that would've ever occurred with F2P rings is the Ring of Dueling, but now that the Duel Arena is f2p, they can just disable the Castle Wars teleport on free worlds and we're all set. There's no physical reasons that prevent the Ring of Recoil from working on free worlds, nor the Ring of Forging. The Ring of Life would also be a great addition for f2pers, knowing how prone they are to death. -
Sorry. I just don't really appreciate being called a cheater or the like, regardless of whether its in joke or not. And especially since it's the internet, it's kind of hard to tell whether something is meant to be sarcastic, joking, etc.

its shooped. I can tell by the pixels. Uh huh... Well I can tell you it isn't "shooped." I figured I'd be nice and give everyone only what they needed to see rather than give them the full 1280x800 screen I have (as seen below) [hide][/hide] Or worse yet; I have my system set up to use two screens connected as one desktop. If I had taken a straight up screenshot, you would've had this. [hide][/hide] And realize that this image got sized down by Imageshack because its dimensions are 2344x1824. I don't think you need to be seeing that whole huge thing when all that matters is the chess board.

You may bow before your master now.

A small bestiary correction
darkblade986 replied to alphakoldes's topic in Completed Website Corrections
"You can access this spot by using the coordinates _ _ _ after you are taught to use the rings during the Fairy Tale II - To Cure a Queen quest." Of course, we should add the target=_blank, or whatever that was that, we've (or you've) been using Ginger on the dungeon maps so that it makes a new window, but this explains perfectly up to what point you need to get to. -
Not really sure if that's a broken bridge more than it is a broken stairway. It does bring explanation as to why you have to go through the underground maze to get to the Observatory though.

If anyone is wondering, that is magic log cutting. As it would be in English... You swing your axe at the tree. You swing your axe at the tree. You receive some Magic logs. You receive some Magic logs. Your inventory is full. You cannot carry any more logs. "I now marry you in the name of Saradomin" (or whatever Saradomin's marriage saying is) You enter your PIN correctly. You swing your axe at the tree. Either way, the similarities between this and the example given by someone else (someone getting "Aarrgghh"'d) is that the text shown is not created directly by the player, but rather indirectly (either by getting the random event or by choosing to use the particular lecture). Either way, the player does not enter in the text himself to say.

1) The Bank Guard has been there for at least 2 years (maybe a little less). As his name suggests, he's guarding the bank. 2) He's not in the Bestiary because the Bestiary only contains attackable monsters. You can't attack the Bank Guard.

Christmas event - Our first taste of summoning?
darkblade986 replied to RedHanyu888's topic in General Discussion
It isn't the putting together of the snow, but the code that makes it work. For summoning, the code would be [Perform an Action -> Create a Monster]. This would test the ability of the code to create specific monsters (or in this case, NPCs) in a specific region. Most other NPCs are simply controlled by 3 different things: Whether you can see them or not (can be used in quests when someone should be somewhere at a specific time), the range that they can move around (which squares are they allowed to move to) and what to say, which can also change with quests. Summoning will put to the test the second function predominantly: summoning a creature and having it predefine a region that it might work in. -
We enforce our rules to the degree where not enforcing them would be almost encouraging people to break other rules. If the topic had managed to remain on topic about the images, then it is possible that the topic would not have been locked. If you remember the name of the person who originally posted these images, you might be able to contact him/her directly and ask for the images yourself. Short of that, unless the person reposts them, there is nothing that can be done. NOTE: I am not a moderator, so I cannot say for certain that my views on the situation do not conflict with rules that the moderators are required to follow regarding situations like this.

Something you might want to consider is to try a HiJackThis log. This program was required to be used by us to determine whether our computers were safe enough to be allowed to be Crew/Staff/etc. It doesn't need to be installed and is just a simple Executable File. If needed, there are a couple of techies around these boards (and one of the Admins might be able to hook you up with a trusted one) who can tell you what to do to fix this problem. This is by all means no guarantee for success, but given your claim to the inability to install programs, that's the best I can offer.

Regarding spawns, I don't think that specific revenants spawn at specific places, but rather Revenants in general spawn at specific locations. I've seem many different Revenant monsters near the Abyssal Mage before (Knight, Orc, Demon, Imps, Hobgoblins, Dark Beasts, etc). This information would probably be helpful to be forwarded to our mappers, who could probably place them on the Wilderness Map once we have it updated.

Dosen't it say in GH2 "Remember: No Stairway!" :-s I do recall it saying that, but I always thought it meant literal stairs (as in trying to walk them)...

These aren't a measure of quality; these are a measure of size. If you have a 100x100px image, and a Monitor designed to handle 800x600px, then you'll get one result. However, if you increase or decrease this amount, the image may change shape relatively, but it's still 100x100px, so there isn't any more detail to it.
-
' There really isn't anyway to get more detailed than the pixel because that's the most detailed unit on a computer. However, if you save your images as Bitmaps (.bmp), then it makes my job a bit easier because it saves it pixel by pixel, which means I have it exactly as you see it and not how the image type decodes it. Either way, so long as the background noticeably contrasts (meaning is different) from the monster, then it's fine (for example, the Goblin one took a little extra manipulation out of me because it was rather close, but I still got it in the end).

I'm guessing that it's probably just a lazy shot on their part. People aren't supposed to see the specific link available. Now then, thanks to the miracles of Firefox, I can see the source code for the website, and the very first bulk of code I noticed included a Javascript line... if(self.location.href.indexOf("/de/")!=-1 || self.location.href=="http://www.runescape.de") top.location.href="http://www.runescape.com/lang/de/"; else top.location.href="http://www.runescape.com"; Now I may not be a coder, but I do know that when I turn off Javascript, then I can see the links just fine. So my guess is that this little bulk of code right here is the one that resets the link to Runescape.com (or .../lang/de/ for the German version) regardless of where you go (note that I pulled this code from the High Scores table). It probably goes along the lines of the following, where my rough translation of it is in the brackets. if(self.location.href.indexOf("/de/")!=-1 || [if own link does does not equal (-1)...] self.location.href=="http://www.runescape.de") [this] top.location.href="http://www.runescape.com/lang/de/"; [or this] else top.location.href="http://www.runescape.com"; [make it this]

Hmmm... that would make sence, since these guys are supposed to replace pkers and the standard DDS they carry... Unfortunately, that image is a little too small for me to get a decent image out of. As a note though, when making Bestiary submissions (and Bestiary submissions only, as this is a personal request), you can use Bitmap image format if you can crop the image down to just the monster itself. The clarity of Bitmap images makes my job much easier. Added and credited, I remember seeing one as well.

Headlines you would not like to see in your newpaper

"Local School Districts closed Indefinitely" Oh wait... that's one I would like to see... nevermind... -
I may not be one of the admins but I can definitely pop in here and say that we will not be giving moderator powers to clan leaders just because they are one, even if it is for the clan board. All of the moderators that are picked are picked because we trust them. If we were to apply this process to a clan board, then some clans may claim that we favor some clans over another. Also, there would really be nothing stopping one of these leaders from going in and terrorizing the topic of another clan. By keeping all moderator functions restricted to a group that we can control, it makes it much easier on us.

They heal themself i saw it, so here is your confirmation :P You may say this, but I'd prefer to have a second source other than the original submitter. I'm not casting doubt on your information, but it's easier on us to wait for full verification rather than having tons of people yell at us for being wrong. I'll see what I can do with that picture, but thank you for submitting it.

The monsters themselves have been added to the Bestiary, with basic information only. The information about them healing themselves and curing their poison I would like confirmation on, as well as the drops. Thank you (especially you Saradomin_Mage) for providing this information. Thank you also Freesia for gathering the information on their attacks. At this point, I'd like to request that any additional information you have be made in a new post (on this topic is fine) but don't edit your original posts or the information you add risks getting missed.
