your looking at Fletching   Actually I forgot to change it to state oak planks, but it has now been corrected. Thanks though nvw ;)

I figured this would be sort of a unique idea. The goal of this topic is to show what it would cost the average player, to buy his way to level 99 in a specific skill. All prices are based on the player having 273,742xp points to begin with in the skill, which is level 60 for those who are wandering. Fletching: Method #1 - Pure Maples Material(s) needed: maple logs Target item: unstrung maple longbow Price per maple log: 100gp each Amount of material(s) needed: 219,068 Amount of target item to be made: 219,068 Total price = 21,906,800 gp Method #2 - Maples, then Yews Material(s) needed: maple logs, yew logs Target item: unstrung maple longbow til 70, unstrung yew longbows after Price per maple log: 100gp each Price per yew log: 250gp each Amount of material(s) needed: maples = 7,964; yews = 163,958 Amount of target item to be made: unstrung maple longbows = 7,964; unstrung yew longbows = 163,958 Total price = 41,785,900 gp Prayer Method #1 - Gilded Altar Material(s) needed: dragon bones Target item: n/a Price per dragon bone: 2,500gp each Amount of material(s) needed: 50,638 Amount of target item to be used: n/a Total price = 126,595,000 gp Method #2 - Ectofuntus Material(s) needed: dragon bones Target item: n/a Price per dragon bone: 2,500gp each Amount of material(s) needed: 44,308 Amount of target item to be used: n/a Total price = 110,770,000 gp Smithing Method #1 - Smelting + Smithing steel bars Material(s) needed: coal, iron ore Target item: smelt = steel bars, smith = any item Price per coal: 200gp each Price per iron ore: 120gp each Amount of material(s) needed: coal = 464,026; iron ore = 232,013 Amount of target item to be made: n/a Total price = 120,646,760 gp Method #2 - Steel bars (already smelted) Material(s) needed: steel bars Target item: smith = any item Price per steel bar: 600gp each Amount of material(s) needed: 340,286 Amount of target item to be made: n/a Total price = 204,171,600 gp Method #3 - Smelting + Smithing iron Material(s) needed: iron ore, forging rings Target item: smelt = iron bars, smith = preferably iron knives (5 knives per bar) Price per iron ore: 120gp each Price per forging ring: 2,000gp each Amount of material(s) needed: iron ore = 340,286; forging rings = 2431 Amount of target item to be made: 1,701,430 knives (340,286 bars) Total price = 41,320,520gp (NOTE: Taking my advice on making iron knives, which sell for 40gp each, you will make back 68,057,200gp after finishing, which is 26,736,680gp profit.) Method #4 - Gold smelting (with gauntlets) Material(s) needed: gold ore Target item: gold bar Price per goldl ore: 500gp each Amount of material(s) needed: 227,059 Amount of target item to be made: n/a Total price = 113,529,500 gp Construction: Material(s) needed: oak planks Target item: any item Price per oak plank: 500gp each Amount of material(s) needed: 212,679 Amount of target item to be made: n/a Total price = 106,339,500 gp Cooking (with gauntlets) - (Note: Use tuna til 68, lobsters til 94, shark til 99) Material(s) needed: raw tuna, raw lobsters, raw sharks Target item: n/a Price per raw tuna: 100gp each Price per raw lobster: 200gp each Price per raw shark: 900gp each Amount of material(s) needed: raw tuna= 3,313; raw lobsters = 61,164; raw shark = 24,238 Amount of target item to be made: n/a Total price = 34,378,300 gp NOTE: This is not a complete list of every skill. Some skills are not purchasable, others have a fail rate or other variables, and some I haven't done the figures on. NOTE 2: This guide does NOT, with the exception of the additional notes for smithing iron knives, factor in the returns from selling/alching produced items. You may make back a decent chunk of change from taking advantage of such methods.

As Jeppe has said, theres really not alot they can do at the moment, the staff is trying. Perhaps someone should open a topic in regards to thoughts, suggestions and ideas to either reduce server load, or to raise cash? I know that the idea of removing the post count was shot down, but I imagine a debate on whether or not to remove the "view count" would be a idea. Seeing as the view count is updated every single time a topic is loaded, whereas post count is only updated upon posting or actual deletion of topics, I would have to imagine the view count is putting more stress on the servers than the post count is? -
Its a somewhat fun little java game that I use to play with friends on. The idea is to see how long you can survive without hitting anything. Site: http://www.liquidcode.org/worm.html My highscore so far today is 2136.

For the ppl who THINK they been playing for 11+ years
DragnFly replied to Bmms's topic in RuneScape Classic
Listen to lightning. This is exactly how it was. I'm sick of people not knowing what's up and not reading prior posts. It was a public beta release in 2001. Why one earth would you believe some web site over people who were there (me) and people who were there from the beginning (Lightning)? Had intended on replying to this afew hours ago, but I did not get around to it. Guess now is as good of time as any. I will agree, it most certainly does gets obnoxious to repeatedly try to enlighten people, only to have them shrug it off and not listen. A good majority of "wannabe oldschoolers" pop their heads out and start spouting off inaccurate information and downright lies, confusing those who have not been around and who do not know who to believe. Some are mistaken, most do it to try to impress others. However, the quote from Phil with the three dates are correct. Where it says public, I think it means "Public Beta" and hence publically available. So in this peticular case, it appears the website is accurate. I assume you meant to quote the guy Phil had quoted, who was the one who had the inaccurate information, in which the post by Lightning is in agreement with what Phil had stated. Still though, the point about trusting players whom have been around, instead of random sites is indeed a very good point. I have personally went through, giving out accurate information, and even providing somewhat credible links to those among the crowd who did not believe it. However, it was seemingly just ignored. See here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?p=319 ... t=#3190416 To further combat this problem of false informationing being spread, I had suggested a section be added tip.it's site about it. Where it would have a larger range of credibility from known names, a reputable site, and tons of exposure. Not a single member of staff commented on it. See suggestion here: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=480719 Basically its gotten me nowhere, and while I feel your pain, I just cannot see it changing anytime in the near future. Its unfortunate, however it just does not seem to be happening. :( -
Adult Worlds - Suggestion from Official Forum
DragnFly replied to Kryptic's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
The idea of an adult servers has been suggested quite afew times in the past, with mixed views and criticisms. I myself had suggested it once afew years back, and I believe Jagex was concerned about fairness and how to enforce it. Its inevitable that, seeing as the majority of the player base now is minors, that even mentioning the idea is going to get you flamed by those who would not be eligable to access such worlds. Actually infact, the very fact that people resort to flaming anything that they do not like or agree with, would indeed show a reason of why such suggestions are being made to begin with. I know, kids will be kids, but it does tend to get obnoxious after awhile. I can already hear the cries as I write this, "Not all kids act that way, some are quite mature for their age" or "Adults behave that way too", which are both truthful. However on the other side of the coin, age does play a role in maturity and intelligence, as we all know. They have usually seen and experienced more, and their brains have nearly finished developing, which is the reason most governments grant them more rights and privledges than minors. Since they usually have a better understanding of the world around them, including the dangers and risks of their actions, they are usually more capable of making informed and rational decisions than minors, however there are always exceptions. As far as fairness goes, generally there is always more freedoms and liberties granted to adults than minors. However, on the flip side, adults also have more responsibilities to maintain and manage than children. So as in life, its understandable and I do not see the harm in granting extra privledges to those whom are fully grown adults. Such as, being able to exchange contact information, and a way of possibly disabling the chat filter, so long as such benefits do not give added benefits to levelling or succeeding in playing the game itself. Disabling the chat filter would be benefitial for those accidental filterings that we all experience in Runescape. It still does mean that belittling your fellow player is okay or should be tolerated. However, most adults are less prone to swear than youth anyways, as they have figured out that it does not make them "look cool" as many minors happen to believe. Exchanging contact details is also handy, for those whom would like to talk to our fellow player outside of RuneScape. Both of which are not allowed presently, not just to protect youth, but to protect the company from lawsuits brought on by parents. Afterall, we live in the generation that people can sue McDonalds for a hot coffee being hot and win, which is quite sad. Your only options presently are an ignore list, which could not possibly be enough to quiet down the millions of people who fail to act in an civilized manner. The second option being to cut the public chat to friends only, but the problem with this is it does stop you from meeting the truly intelligent and mature individuals who actually have something worthwhile to say. Then you have the matter of how do you enforce it? Social Security numbers perhaps? Well those are only available in the United States. Do you do credit verifications? Thats great for those who pay by credit, but how about those who pay via other means? Ask for a credit number anyways, then charge and refund it? Credit card fraud is also an issue, but its more of an legal issue than a game issue. Outside of credit however, as I mentioned I cannot see any other method that'd be plausible for testing age. There are some players who would prefer a "mature world" instead of an adult one, but with a player base as large and diverse as the one in RuneScape, how would you enforce it? How exactly do you go about testing each individual to see if they are mature? It cannot be done, unless it would involve meeting and talking to each individual by hand, for extended periods of time, which effectively rules this option out as there is no possible way to do that in largescale. Also, considering the number of mature players would be moving to the adult/mature worlds, would the lack of proper influence on kids or immature players actually make them act out more? Would it have a negative side effect? Would the volume of players visiting those worlds for various reasons, or volunteerily playing on those worlds be enough to balance it out? I guess I am unsure on how it would all play out, and there are many questions that would need to be addressed prior to even thinking about implementing it. On one hand i'm for it, and on the other i'm unsure how it could work. -

Guide to 1-Item objects (ed. Jul 2006) (AOW Discussion)
DragnFly replied to DragnFly's topic in General Guides
Mikehild and SirDorphus, at the time of your respective posts I had done tested and updated the guide on the mousetoy. However, thank you for the submissions, they are appreciated. Headnazgul, yeah I was pretty sure on all of those as well, however I hadn't gone back through and tested each one again since adding trade information. So I went ahead and updated the list with those details, thanks for the submissions. Eyehawk78, between some items not being able to be brought into the tome, and the risk involved with bringing anything worthwhile into an area that you could die is of course the reason I recommend banking everything but the pebble and amulets. However, it never hurts to remind players that any melee/range/magic items cannot be brought into the tomb, or that bringing enough food is a good idea and highly recommended. Thanks. nightzero, I have tested both at the time of posting, as well as again this afternoon. They are working fine for me. The easter ring has an drop option so it is easy, and the scarves do appear on the from the suicide trick. See inventory pic below. Also SirDorpheus, I am aware that the DarkLight is reobtainable from Sir Prysin. I was referring to obtaining the regular (plain) silverlight from him upon completion of the Shadow of the Storm quest, which is no longer possible. HighImpact1, the Robes of Elidinis are a two piece set of robes from the Spirits of the Elid quest. They are a yellowish color with an blue trim. -
Black party hats do not, nor have they ever existed. Pugxsi set the record straight over 2 years ago on exactly how the rumor got started. Link: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=20907

 I love your guide! I've been wanting to get another one of these. Please note that the guard asks for 20 gp before he lets you jump across the rocks. It was a long walk back to Yanille. Thats strange, I am pretty sure I did not have to pay to cross when I tested it last. Have you finished the quest? Also a minor update to the list. -
Tip.It Times Presents: Different Strokes for Different Folks
DragnFly replied to Kiara_Kat's topic in General Discussion
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words. Its an item you will acquire through the Troll Romance quest. Yes, I posted it on the forums about 2 weeks ago. After the recommendations of other posters, I submitted it to the times. Thats indeed true, and I fully embrace that. Infact, at the time of this post my skill total is 1656. While I do not always train as much as I used to, I have also put quite abit of training in over the last 5 years. These are two interesting :-k points of view, but I think DragnFly is correct, some people just sell lower and are happy with what they get. As for the merchanting, I believe for the most part I summed up my thoughts on it in the article. You can merchant disposables and refinables, steady items such as weaponry and armors, and "rare" (no longer in production) items. A example is I had merchanted rune essence, before the pure/regular essence divide, and when essence was still selling between 40-50gp each. I would typically buy it at 40-45 each, then once i had a large supply post it on the forum and sell them in bulk for 50gp each. I made money off of it, and the purchasers got their supplies quickly and were able to waste less time in a bank and more time runecrafting. Both sides were mutually happy with the transactions. Infact, I think it was after about 5 days or so once I paid off the price I spent on my whip, meaning I essentually got a free whip. I did not forget, they are friends in game whom either for role play purposes or actually developing feelings, end up getting together with another friend. Does not mean they have met, or necessary that they will meet offline, nor does it exclude against the possibility of meeting. I do not see what is annoying about these people playing the way they wish to. Over the time I have played, some of the people I've knew through the game have been in relationships in runescape. I touched upon some of the reasons people in general do it in the article. Likewise, I read about many more on these forums, as well as the official ones. Now people whom approach you, whom you have never met or barely even know wanting a relationship, which sounds like the type that you were referring to there, are a completely different matter. They, like people whom randomly approach you wanting to be your friend, are most likely out to use you. Thats completely different than the first types I was referring to though, and typically the type I advise ignoring. If you happened to be around either set of forums in 2001, you are probably aware it was not all that uncommon to read about such things on them. I'm not saying that there was not any critics, of course there were critics then as there is now. However, it did seem more widely accepted. Infact, I often found it somewhat entertaining and amusing to read about whos in an relationship with who this week, who backstabbed their friend or lover, who was feuding with who for whatever reason, hearing about new bugs found was in the game, who helped out who, arguments, rumors, players placing "hits" on other players, controversial happenings, and other stories. It was like a non-stop Jerry Springer episode, RuneScape edition. There is an very valid concern. You really have to be careful. Parents should monitor their kids online, especially the younger ones as there really is no telling what can happen to them otherwise. Also, be sure to educate your kids about the dangers online, discussing it with them and showing them how to stay safe on the internet. Now there is mixed feelings amongst people regarding online dating, not just in runescape but in general. Seeing as the internet is becoming more and more common in everyday life, its likely that online dating will become even more common. I see no reason, regardless of anyones personal thoughts on it, to grief other fully grown and consenting adults about their decisions. -

List updated again. Added info on other holiday drops, instructions on how to make an catspeak amulet (e) again, confirmed the details on replacing the mouse toy, and added some confirmations on some on whether or not some items are tradable. -
Gotta admit, I love older pics threads. Never can see too many of them. An greater majority of the classic pictures posted these days are late 2002-2003, so its certainly quite an delightful sight to see some predating them as well being posted. If you want an challenge, find some of the old Ghost town, those i'd love to see. Seems like theres hardly none left in existance. I also recommend these two threads: Mythical's Oldskool RSC picture thread: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=376284 Very Old RSC pics: http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=341094

I did an minor update to some of the items, adding afew new items and changing some details for some existing ones. The main part of this update is I updated the layout of the list, in attempt to improve readibility and clarity of it. -
Well well if it isn't Greggy, I didn't know you still visited tip it. I saw you had posted on the wilderness boards about 2 weeks ago, but its long since been dead there unfortunately. Quite an shame actually. But as for me personally, I can't complain much really. Things have been fairly well as of late. Good to see an familiar face again. :)

Well it would probably be relying on the fact that I had spoke in it, naturally. If solely based on appearance, any number of people could have had the exact same character appearance, and given the amount of players it would simply be impossible to know who it was unless I recognized it and knew for sure it was myself, or there was some sort of identifying proof. But if its of any help, heres what i looked like: 2001 classic look: Classic look from the introduction of makeover mage, to present day on classic: (well I did change the shade of blue on the pants alittle once or twice) The idea behind this thread came from an similar thread Arsenes made over a year ago here. However, seeing as i'm not as well known, or even near as high levelled at the time, who knows. I figure the most likely to be found, if any, would be the highscore shots as alot of people would have reason to take pictures of the highscores or even save copies of the pages, and might capture my name and ranking along with theirs.

I'm aware of the hat stand trick, someone had posted a thread about it for use with the holiday hats since the last update, which does indeed work. I have not tested the doctors or nurses hat yet. I also planned on adding the Robes of Elidinis, but I haven't updated in quite awhile. Who knows, maybe I will give it a go at doing a small update to it soon. Watches/sextants, thanks for reminding me. I'm sure when I update again I will list it. The method was not listed, as at the time of the last update player houses were not out. I must have forgot to list the death talisman drop from the dark beast, or I had not gotten confirmation at the time of the last update. The mouse toy... I do not believe can be got again, as I destroyed mine ages ago and have not found a method of getting a new one. Again though thanks to everyone for the updates and submissions, I appreciate them alot. -
To be honest, i'm looking for screenshots, that I happen to appear in. I know, its kind of an odd request, and one I hope doesn't sound too arrogant. I know the odds are kind of slim of anyone actually having any, especially when I have kept mostly to myself. However, I figured with 100k+ registered users, asking here would happen to be about the best way of locating some. I'm looking preferably for screenshots of the 2001 era, or atleast if possible in the classic era, but I will accept RS2 ones as well. Or screenshots/saved pages of myself in the highscores, especially in the era I was in the top 100 herbalists. Thank you, DragnFly

This certainly has turned into quite the hot debate, with quite abit of thought and views from all sides. On one side of this debate, you have users who seem to like the idea of post counts and ranks, be it for judging an users quality/reputation, status symbol, or for other reasons. On the other, you have an option of removing them all together, in an valiant effort to help weed out and reduce the amount of spam on the forums, and to preserve resources. Plus the middle ground of keeping, but hiding which is sort of a compromise between the two. Which I touched upon earlier in the thread before this was made into an poll. I kind of like the ranks, purely out of nostalgia value, since they've been here mostly since the beginning of the boards. Post count, however, i'm indifferent on. Although neither it is that important, atleast to me personally. Now the question is, what is the right one to choose? I still haven't voted in any official form, as i'm unsure. However, presently I'm kind of leaning towards the keep but hide option, as it seems like the best compromise between the two. In the end, I dont think its going to make that much of an difference, as most people here are probably going to be here after, regardless of whatever the outcome happens to be. Another viable alternative might be to separate the ranks from the counts, moving the post count to the profile or removing it completely. If such an system is considered, naturally it would be an moderator ran service, so that the system is in no means automated and spamming would be worthless. Users might could be given options to "approve" of an post, whereas with so many approvals it would be brought to the moderator teams attention where they have the final say in the matter. After say, so many staff approved "quality" posts, an rank advances.

People whom play differently, and respect...
DragnFly replied to DragnFly's topic in General Discussion
I just cleaned up the article a bit, fixing afew spelling and grammar errors I had noticed in it, as well as slightly rewording afew small parts for clarity. Yes, that does include fixing the usage of the word "an", where it does not belong. Thats perfectly fine. Not as much as you might think. The original, that is excluding the corrections I just made, took about ~3 hours to write. But then again, guess it helps when you have an idea what you want to say. jealous? It wasnt very good... I can sit there and say the obvious about games and I dont get a pat on the head or a cookie, but some guy comes along and makes a big post about how people play games differently and you guys all wana spin on his lap? You people are pathetic I think you are overlooking one of the main points of the article. Its not just that people "play differently", but also pointing out that people should show respect for the ways others choose to play. That being said, you're entitled to your opinion. Again, thanks to everyone.
