  1. Indeed, never trust Paint for anything except making pixel signatures. I like this signature a bit more, it's still quite simple but it looks good. What's the viney/crosshatch texture across/behind the sword? My main improvement point for the signature is the text, it isn't very legible. Just set it to a solid white text.

300 pages? That's easy. :-s Romeo and Juliet is about 300 pages, no big deal. The shorter the story, the harder it would be. Trying to get a 4 page essay from Sonnet 18 is harder.
  3. I'm working from that photo, I can't help the lighting from it. :? Check what happens when I remove my background colour: Just shows that I suck at brushing close together with a mouse. :-$ Looks like a nice mosaic effect though.
  4. Don't really like them. :/ All of them have a bad or no border on them. "Gangsta" Rappers. 'Nuff said. Some renders are blended well, others aren't. Most fonts are really illegible or don't fit. Flat colours. Not a lot of contrast. Sorry if I sound harsh or overbearing, I don't like to say they look great if they aren't (in my opinion).
  5. Yeah, as I said before, i'm really not competant. I fail at smudging, but i'll try sometime when I get better. I got a nice texture to it by using the Coloured Pencil filter, under Artistic. Set it to about 10~20% and overlay. Oh well. 7 layers of smudging, 3 applied image layers, 3 layers of brushing and a lens flare*. *Under the top layer of render, fill with black and add a lens flare where the render is (like the background layer) and set it to screen.
  6. Thanks everyone, i'll be sure to re-do some parts of it and post my outcome.
  7. ur nevr guna b az wity az me u nubcake. :shame: I'm not getting mad at anyone, I just said it doesn't fit with the signature. But if you like it, that's all that matters.
  8. First of all, boxers rule. Cutest dogs evar, I have one of my own. This, however, is not it. Origimanal: (Get it? Animal and original? Im so witty.) After much butchery: ::UPDATE:: After taking in some CC and comments, here is where I got to. I used only the Pen tool, Brush tool and Eyedropper tool. Here's where I plead for mercy, I mean C/C: First vector, i've always wanted to try it. I read a few tuts beforehand, all saying the same thing but I think the technique speaks for itself really. No I did not do the lazy vector. (Filter -> Artistic -> Cutout) And yes the eyes are freaky. That's what I really need to improve on. All I ask is that you are fully honest. Don't try and give me an ego boost with "9/10 awesome for first", be honest. I'm looking for helpful tips towards a better vector. Thanks and "c/c plox".
  9. I really like the first two. The natural one almost looks like real leaf stamps. The second one has a good lava feeling, nice warm colours aswell. They'd almost work as a desktop wallpaper on tile. That would be quite impressive if you could do that. No C/C for me, especially on pixels. I suck at them... *glances at my avatar*.
  10. I knew the new title would work :P The tut is two posts above but I will edit to include it in the first post (it's not very detailed and has no pics but you can get by just with the text and an idea of the possible outcome considering you are all more than competent ;)) Awesome, i'll be sure to have a go. I'll find it hard, i'm some what less than competant. :( ::EDIT:: That green is hawt, Arctic. I much prefer it to the re-coloured version.

It says "BOO" =P Looks like "POO" to me. :-# I like the reflection effect on the text. But, I don't like the brush strokey effect overall. I think a reflected gradient might've done it more justice. Not only adding to the reflective-ness (i'm so witty). Not my choice of colours though ;). ( That sounds quite hypocritical when I look at my own sig. ^_^; )
  12. It's simple, and that can work from time to time. But this is not one of those times. If you had taken the image and only inverted the lightning strike, it might've looked a bit better. The colours from it are horrid, it's a very hard and rigid green against a soft green. The quote is completely random to the image, you don't see many signatures with a picture of a sword and the quote being "Bowman for life" do you?
  13. Of course I know that... That's why I added "Assuming neither are experienced." So in this case, post count would be no different, but who would you go with? I quit RS when I only had about 1500 posts. So what does that make me?
  14. But ratings are generally personal opinions. :? Take note when looking at ratings, more often than not the poster will say "I like it..." and not "The style is good...". It's fair enough if the poster has given good constructive criticism alongside it, but just posting "1000000000000/10 Its absolutely awesome can i hav it plz?!" is spammy and doesn't help the artist except in an ego boost. exactly, if lots of people say I like it then i know thats the style the ppl like, hence i keep making it. i thought i explained that in my post u quoted ;o Like I said, it'll be personal. Not everyone will like it. Who are you trying to impress so you "know you're on the right track"? So if 5 people with about 3 posts said "omfg is great 1000/10" and 1 person with say 1500 posts said "I don't like it 4/10" - who are you going to listen to? 5 newbs or 1 veteran. Assuming neither are experienced. When I post a signature wanting C/C, I don't want to see if that's what they like... I like to be different, there's no point just doing the same as everyone else, it can look like you copy them and be unoriginal. Remember my lens flare signature? I've never seen anyone else do that, my current signature - seen other people take that shape and those effect? I haven't. Being an individual makes it easier to be noticed. Take a look around, do you like people who do the same type of signatures as everyone else, or ones who are different?
  15. It's a person crouching with a cape blowing in the wind with a gun. Looks to be an anime character? Looks great with the dragon, although the render itself seems too contrasted in my opinion. Otherwise, it's great. Perhaps show a render-less version? :P
  16. Yep, it's too shiny and bright (compared to the table) to be real. :-$ Very convincing though.
  17. Kah-bah-gee can't grow without direct sunlight. Silly.
  18. From what I remember, it was a protest against a war? Seeing how tanks are not very agile and aren't allowed to harm civilians, that man could stop the tanks by standing in front of them. As for the image, it's very good. I'd love to be able to do vectors, but I just don't know where to start. I haven't seen anybody use that particular image before, but i'm sure it's been done a few times. tut tut! history lessons guys? hope that clears it up. basically the chinese government didn't like it and shot them :? Ok then it was a rebellion against the government. I knew it was a rebellion against something. :(
  19. 0. Never before. But about 4 people use that avatar, it's irritating.

  21. My only near death experience that stands out was when I was nearly run over by a van. :| I have to cross a T-junction to get back to my home from school. I was waiting for some cars to pass so I could cross, but little did I know that a friend was behind me. He gave me a friendly slap on my back (like all good buddies, durr) as a van was coming. Since I wasn't expecting it, I went forward. Luckily I was able to hold my balance for a moment and as the van passed I pushed off of the side of it and got back on my feet. My other one was nearly being hit by a golf ball in the head. My playing partner shanked (mis-hit) his shot and sent it towards me, I was pretty much day-dreaming at the time but I managed to step backwards as I heard it spinning towards me. Yeah, safe sport golf. Although, I have been hit a few times myself. Just not my head. Being hit in the groin hurts the most.
  22. Don't like it. It's too simple, just taking an image then adding some text and pressing invert... yawn.
  23. QFT. I agree that cropping things like runescape characters can take a while but I doubt it would take an hour. (Well, I guess it depends what program you used) As for finding a good background colour, why didn't you just take an eyedrop of the hat colour? That or find an average of the blues in the pictures. It's a nice basic text but you should've centered it, and god rid of the horrible white dottiness around it. A 1px border would've looked alot better than 3/4 px as you've done (in my opinion of course). But as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. ;) You've made 2/3 signatures that you say you're happy with, so why do you never use them? Personal signatures look a lot better than those rsbandb or goal signatures

  25. I'd much rather have this than an ipod. :
