In what way is your city Anarchy? In the past month alone I've seen ~5 civilian vs cop fights (either student protesters or drunk), around the same number of bar fights (including a stabbing), drunk people vs street cleaning struck fights (these are the best), bus driver vs hobo fights.. thats the fights. I was in a bar when a bomb threat was called (twice), ~40 police showed up with paramedics and bomb dudes but nobody cared, we just kept drinking. My friend offered a hot woman cop a drink to lighten the mood. I got my life threatened by old Irish gangsters (same bar, actually). The sheer number of people out on the streets half naked after last call during F-1 weekend (half naked people being imported prostitutes) and the police force required to calm them down. The sheer number of people out on the streets after last call the following weekend, when everyone realized how fun partying on St-Laurent street is. And not two shits was given by anyone!

More and more I realize my city has turned to anarchy and everybody is okay with it.

You haven't seen each other in 4 years! Nope. Last time I saw her was in the beginning of August in 2008. Holy crap, thats almost as bad as like... going to war or something. You know? Anywho, Grand Prix weekend was a great success, I got tons of free money from my job, aaaaaand now I'm stuck studying for a SUMMER CLASS final next week. I had a solid 3 weekend-in-a-row-epic-weekend streak going that I had to drop out of  Other than that.. hmmmmm.... more girl issues but theyre not worth posting about or even thinking about so NO!
  7. For a first car, not bad! For street cred, in my books at least, you look like a damn fool with a lowered car. The only leniency I give people with lowered cars is if it's a fancy-pants expensive fast car and the person wants to lower it 2-3 inches during the summer. OTHERWISE, damn fool looks ect. You'll need a whole new car for winter.

Hah, that's pretty amazing  I got a butt-ton a free money Monday, so I'm gonna be treating each of my friends to a little something over the summer whether its dinner or 24 beers.

They're STILL protesting? What's the atmosphere like around there? I'm thinking of going to the V8 Supercars (Its like the Aussie version to America's NASCAR love) this October for my 22nd, depending on my income. Its essentially like anarchy over here, but nobody cares. Last night was a good success, cops were boosted around the GP area so we hung out there, didn't even get tear gassed

About to go to near where the Formula 1 weekend is being held.. lots of tourists and people in general in addition to all the student strikers aiming to ruin the weekend, oh and beer fest fanatics, just to meet up with a couple of hotties. Itll probably be worth it. I wish I had a human bulldozer tonight.

Ironing a shirt is probably the hardest thing I've had to do since forever. And i'm genetically altering organisms five days a week.
  12. I got a free shirt from my gym.. but its the exact same as the one people who work there wear so I'm asked questions sometimes. Which is awkward, because I'm either lifting weights or severely out of breath so its hard to answer. Also, lost ~8 lbs by cutting back on fried foods. Now, if I could only cut back the beer... :wall: I'd have <5% body fat or something crazy.

They made a law this weekend preventing students from striking the tuition hikes. So they striked it. God I love my city. Minus the people who take this opportunity to vandalize the city and the pepper spray I have to deal with whenever I want to drink downtown.

I just realized that this post was verbal bullshit. New edit: Got hammed 4 nights in a row, taking it easy tonight for a long week of research~

I only 'like' pictures of girls when they're trying to look pretty on purpose. Other than that, I keep it to myself. Today I've been thinking a lot about Egg's situation and about where the blame should lie, because I've been on all three sides of these cases and I still don't know.

[hide] I'd like to take a second to point out that they (Quebec) have the lowest tuition fees in the country by far. They are like 66% of the fees here (we have the most expensive University here, but I don't go to that one). No sympathy for them whatsoever. Waaa, we will have to pay more than 2 grand a semester! Boo [bleep]ing hoo. Everyone else in Canada is closer to 3.5 Here in 'Murrica we don't pay off our student loans until we're 10 years from death. And then we start on our mortgage payments. 3.5 grand? Wow  ...We pay only 0.5 here(maybe a bit more in dollars)...and that's in one of 16 federal provinces, it's free in the rest of them. Literally paying 6.5 grand per semester for my 4 year college degree. I plan to go to grad school. And I go to one of the cheapest colleges in New Jersey. And that's with the in-state rebate. I can't even leave Jersey without amounting a lifetime's worth of debt. so keep you stupid riots to yourself. if you're that eager to protest something stupid, come to America and rebel over here. At least get something worth while accomplished. [/hide] I'd say protesting the increase of tuition fees is a pretty honorable thing. The way they've gone about it couldn't be any less professional or politically correct though :shame: Hey Randox, what's the most expensive university?? I have a relatively long story that I will cut short but it's a funny one so read on. [hide=Typical nerd-rules-the-world-eventually story:] In January I had a confrontation with an alpha male talking to a girl I liked. This stereotypical ass was busy chatting her up and, knowing her well, I knew she wasn't interested in the least. Anyways, I scheduled her to go to lunch together, so I interrupted the guy after a minute of listening to his garbage. I remember very specifically that he was boasting about how he got a job in a biohazard lab on campus and that he wouldn't possibly pursue a career in research now that he's had "so much experience" because "its all [bleep]work". I remember this because at the time I was doing research in a biochemistry lab and he touched a nerve, so as I said I interrupted him and grabbed the girl and left. He passed a snooty remark that I ignored since I had food to eat, a good looking girl to talk to and lab work to do after. This guy has been pissing me off ever since. We shared a class this semester and he wouldn't shut his trap about his lab job that is "all [bleep]work" and even went so far to call out people doing research projects as undergrads for wasting their time. This was more recent, March-ish. One day I had enough of his horse shit and blatantly called him out : that maybe you're doing [bleep]work because you're a [bleep]. He said something about me being ignorant (not knowing I've been doing research the past year) and we went on with our lives. [bleep]ING YESTERDAY, as I'm working in a new lab, a molecular biology lab that is biohazardous, THIS [wagon] WALKS IN! I was honestly facepalming so hard - I managed to piss off a lab member who will be working with me all summer. Then, suddenly, as if I was living in a movie, he picks up a dirty beaker from the sink. I'm like... :???: is this guy slow in the head? He puts on his lab coat and gloves and STARTS DOING THE DISHES! I had the biggest [bleep]ing banana grin on my face the entire time he was washing MY DISHES. He recognized me and asked if I was one of the fools that is doing a research project, so I told him straight up that OUR supervisor hired me as a summer student to actually take part in the lab, making it plain that after a year of washing dishes he didn't get promoted to my job and that I got it, over him. Then, as he's washing my dishes, I find out that he shows up once every day for an hour and just washes out the sink (where we put all the dirty glassware). At this point I have an even bigger banana grin knowing I will get this same feeling over and over again all summer \::/ . I'm pretty sure the lab I work in is the only one that hires dishwashers - normally people do their own. I was <--> this close from whispering in his ear "...and now you're my [bleep]" but I was having enough fun as it was and didn't want to push it. [/hide]

Why weren't you elsewhere, dealing drugs or something since all the cops were clearly begging for dinner. I'm not actually part of the protest so at night I get to sit on sidewalks and have a beer as cops protect me from the students. Sometimes we get homeless people join us, sometimes we get a large crowd and just hang out drinking on the corner. It's fun

I'm spending all day reading thesis papers from past students that held research positions in the lab I'm starting in on Monday and good lord... people can't write! It's no wonder I do well when there's a written component to an exam or project - I write like goddamn Sir Doyle. I'm not trying to be snoody or anything, its the honest truth! I can tell they're trying to sound professional and that they know what they're writing about, but they fall short by so much that the quality of the writing is sub par to the vast majority of posts in this forum alone.
  20. I want a simple snapback that has the word: "SPORTS" on the front of it, but I can't find one anywhere.

Ya man, just explain it to him! Obviously he wanted to get you something really nice for your 16th to show he appreciates you cause you're a good guy, and he thought Beats would be the epitome of that. I would take the following road: explain to him headphones have a very short lifespan by default, and that having such an expensive pair is a huge waste in your eyes. Today I'm running on 3 hours of sleep and still cramming for my 3rd final exam in 2 days wooohoooo.
  23. So I was trying to get a summer research job in my favourite prof's lab. I sent my student transcript (grades)+CV to my supervisor, and he me sat down and interviewed me. He said my grades were very impressive ect. ect., how I got an A+ in a course nobody should be getting A+, checked my other jobs held.. and asked me why I wasn't part of the Golden Key Society. He had half a smile when he asked, so I told him that I'm on the honour roll and deans list (he also noted this) and that any body who knows what they're doing would know that those honours trump any title bought for 80$. He smiled and told me that's exactly what he told his son, studying Physics at university. I was like <3: and he was all like <3: and gave me the position. I could imagine the grilling he would have given me if I said I was invited to join the GKS and not pay to join, which was the point I was making 2 months ago. Anyways, I didn't get the job because of that little anecdote; I know the prof really well and he was really impressed with the research I'd done in another lab last year but the point is I was right about GKS (when it comes to dealing with senior professors who've been in the business for 30+ years) so deal with it.
