SLAPCHOP? Hm, wonder what would happen if you slapchopped a hot dog.
  5. What part of the current situation has ANYTHING to do with religion? I don't pretend to know the particulars of the problems in Ireland, but I'm starting to get tired of people blaming religion every chance they get. I'd recommend either staying close to home and getting some sort of personal defense item or start carrying something in case you get randomly jumped by a group. A pair of knives is good for attack speed and mobility, but something that can be carried openly like a bat might keep weaker and smarter opponents from going after you. It might attract people wanting a fight and/or police, though. I don't know anything about it but I'm pretty sure the whole thing is Catholics vs. Protestants and they just use politics to make it seem like there are other reasons. Or it could be about politics, but they just use religion to make it seem like there are other reasons... I don't know much about the situation, so all I'll say is good luck, hope you (and anyone else near there) stay safe.
  6. I went on a service trip to a fairly impoverished city a week or two back...Our lunches consisted of sandwiches packed by ourselves. As no one wanted the end slices, we decided to make sandwiches with them and hand them out to the homeless. So yeah, I don't like the end pieces. I'm sure some people do, and of course those people who are so desperate for food they don't care what they get. :|
  7. Turn my alarm clock off? Har har, I'm so clever.

Tennis is fun. I played it for like 4 hours with my friends on Saturday. I might try out for the team next year... :-k

  10. I'm not saying that homosexuality is wrong (quite the opposite, really), but I'll make my arguments for why the Bible does not dictate homosexuality as wrong for us today. A page or two back, someone posted one of these. Leviticus really was meant for the Israelites as they were entering the Promised Land. Not for us, in modern day America or wherever you live. About 30 (?) pages ago, this was brought up. The phrase "homosexual offenders" might not mean homosexuality is wrong. It could mean something like "gay rape", which I hope we can agree is wrong. I interpret it with the "homosexual" describing the "offenders", not the "offending" describing the "homosexuals." Same as the last one, basically. Indecent acts could mean rape, or over-the-top sex. (Since, you know, the Bible also teaches about sex and it's purposes...) Though it does imply that homosexuality is unnatural, that doesn't necessarily mean homosexuality is wrong. It's all down to the interpretation. Of course people interpret these passages as "HOMOSEXUALITY IS WRONG AND GAYS SHOULD BE KILLED." But that's not what it definitely says.
  11. Yea, I swear this was locked. And it's been brought up twice, but seriously. The Sandlot. Go. I was playing Wiffleball once in my friend's backyard (there were like 10 of us). Anyway, it was 10 PM, and a pitch happened to roll under a small gap in the fence separating his yard from his neighbor's. So we're all standing there, wondering what to do. We spot a sign on the neighbor's porch/back door. It says "BEWARE OF ATTACK --OG." Something starts barking. So we're all thinking "OH [bleep]" But then we look closer and it says "BEWARE OF ATTACK FROG." But of course, there's still the barking dog. So half of us decide to go ring the neighbor's front door. But meanwhile, one of us (a fairly athletic guy) climbs a tree - I follow him up. He then jumps the fence, and with my directing, grabs the ball and somehow jumps back over. But of course, the guys who went to the front door finally get the neighbor to go check for the ball right then, and of course, there's no ball any more. We managed to convince her (the neighbor) that we got the ball back though. Thankfully she didn't call the cops or anything. Unless he has a camera fixed on the spot where the ball is, or he's always watching his backyard, it shouldn't be too hard sprinting in, grabbing it, and sprinting out. Only problem would be if the gate squeaks or something. (Just build a robot and send it in.)
  12. Last time something like this happened (found a $20 in a book), I did C (leave it), but that's only because I figured it would be nearly impossible to figure out who it belonged to, and it would feel wrong to flat out take it. But if I had an easy way to figure out who it belonged to, I would somehow get it back to the owner. So that would be B or D.
  13. My post was deleted...? I was born in Taiwan (I say that like every other post...), which is like 99.99% Asian, so I thought everyone was Asian. So when I moved to America, I was confused as to why there were people of other skin colors...
  14. The second time it's played, the first three "CHOCOLATES!" kind of remind me of "THIS...IS....SPARTA!"
  15. [hide=]Forum Username: penguingeek3 Age: 14 State (US only, do not give a city): MA Nation (do not give a city): USA (born in Taiwan) Educational level: -if secondary or below, what level? Just finished my freshman year of high school -If at a university/college, what level and what is your major/minor course of study? 1. Have you ever attended a worship of any religion? Yes -by choice? It began with my parents bringing me, but now, I would go by choice -What kind of worship? Church. Christian - Protestant, I'm not sure past that. -Did you regularly attend this worship, by choice or parental guidance? Yes, by both, 2. Do you consider yourself religious? Yes -Please explain in two or three sentences. I'm Christian in the sense that I believe there is a God, and that Jesus died for our/my sins, but other than that, I wouldn't say I'm your typical Christian. I don't like organized religion, as I find religion to be a more personal thing. Some elements of Confucianism, Buddhism and other religions/philosophies can be found in my beliefs as well. 3. Is there a god, gods, or a supreme deity? Yes -Did said god, gods, or supreme being create the Universe, according to your belief? Yes 4. Is there an afterlife? Yes 5. How do you believe that existence came about? (in a nutshell) God created something. And then something happened. I have no clue. Maybe God created the Universe as it is. Maybe God caused the Big Bang. I don't know. 6. Have you ever attended a worship of any religion that you do not consider yourself a part of? Sort of. -What? I've been the Buddhist temples (I think, might have been Confucian or Taoist or something), but not for any service or anything. There were people there performing the rituals though. -Your thoughts on the experience I was pretty young at the time, and I don't remember it too well. 7. What are your thoughts on non Judeo-Christian Western religions? Remember that religion is a broad term so please be specific. I don't know any, or anything about any of them. 8. What are your thoughts on Judeo-Christian religions? Remember that religion is a broad term and that both of these groups have many subdivisions that have radically different beliefs and practices. It's a very broad term. I like some aspects of some divisions, I don't like some aspects of other divisions. Generally, as long as a belief doesn't harm me in any way, I have no problem with it. I'll say that I like more aspects of Protestantism more than most other religions though. 9. What are your thoughts on Asian religions? Remember that religion is a broad term so please be specific. Definitely some interesting stuff there. I like some philosophical aspects of Confucianism, Buddhism and possibly Taoism (I don't understand it too well), but not too much when it comes to religious aspects. 10. What are your thoughts on African religions? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. I don't know enough about them to make a judgment. 11. What are your thoughts on South American religions? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. I don't know enough about them to make a judgment. 12. What are your thoughts on Aboriginal religions (any native group that was displaced, such as Native Americans, Maori, Aborigines, etc)? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. I don't know enough about them to make a judgment. 13. What are your thoughts on pagan religions (Wiccan, alternative, Satanic, and other non-traditional forms of worship)? Remember that religion is a broad term, so please be specific. Also note that many alternative and pagan practices are not affiliated with Satanic worship. I don't know enough about them to make a judgment. 14. What are your thoughts on atheism, the belief that there is no supreme being(s)? Please remember that there are degrees to this belief, and that not all share the same thoughts. I don't care what anyone else believes as long as it doesn't harm me. I'm fine with the belief of atheism, and I can see why someone would be atheist, but when atheists start attacking religion, then problems start appearing. 15. What are your thoughts on agnosticism, the belief that a supreme being(s) exists, but the individual chooses not to worship it/them (or if one is unsure if a supreme being exists, but does not outright deny its existence)? I like the open-mindedness. Makes enough sense to me, even if I don't consider myself agnostic 16. Have you ever publicly chastised someone who believes in a religion/school of thought different than yours? Not really. Only defended my faith a few times. -elaborate -what group were they? what group were you? 17. If you belong to a religion or non-religion, please identify. I'll go with Christian - Protestant. Or deism. -Did you consciously choose to follow this belief? Yep. -Did you belong to another belief, by choice or force, before following this belief? No. -Did you personally research (as in personally in the first person) options before coming to this belief? Sort of, but not before. I've learned about various religions at school, but the quality of the education wasn't that great. 18. Is intelligence (not IQ, but actual intelligence) correlated to one's belief in a religion or non-religion? Keep in mind that intelligence can not be measured by any science, this is simply your judgment call. There's absolutely no relation. There are plenty of intelligent religious people, as well as plenty of intelligent atheists. Also plenty of stupid people on both sides. 19. Does religion, in your observation, do good in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. Yes. It's a good motivator for many people - do good and you'll be rewarded with a good afterlife. There are other ways it does good, but I think that's the main one. 20. Does non-religion, in your observation, do good in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. I don't know if it really answers the question, but I'll say that people don't need a religious reason to do good. 21. Does religion, in your observation, do bad in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. Yes, when twisted from the original intents. And the conflicts that come out of religious disagreements. 22. Does non-religion, in your observation, do bad in the world? Please cite specific groups or denominations. Yes, through disagreements in beliefs. 23. Please list your experience with sexual education, including but not limited to: lectures by parents, schools, religion, or non-education. Please do not list your sexual experiences. Gone through sex ed at school. 24. Have you engaged in sexual intercourse of any kind? Please do not list your sexual experiences. A yes or no will suffice. No. 25. What, in your opinion, defines "love?" A strong attraction and desire for something/someone. 26. Have you ever been in, or are now in, a relationship? No. -Is sex involved? 27. Are you single/committed relationship/married? Single 28. What, in your opinion, is sex's place in a relationship (or lack of relationship)? Whatever the couple deems it as. If I were ever in a relationship, I would say it's the ultimate sign of love. 29. Have you ever partaken in an illicit substance (excluding alcohol or marijuana)? No. -if so, what? -Have you ever lost control of your actions while under the influence of an illicit substance? 30. Have you ever partaken in marijuana? No. -Do you habitually use this substance? -Have you ever been "stoned?" -Have you ever lost control of your actions while under the influence of marijuana? 31. Have you ever partaken in the consumption of alcohol? No. -Do you drink socially or alone? Or both? -Have you ever been drunk? -Have you ever lost control of your actions while under the influence of alcohol? 32. Have you ever regretted a sexual encounter? No. 33. Have you ever regretted using an illicit substance? (excluding hangovers) No. 34. Have you ever regretted using alcohol? (excluding hangovers) No. 35. Have you ever given serious thought (longer than 30 minutes in a year) to the existence of a supreme being(s)? Yes.[/hide] I admit I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to things like this, including "my own beliefs". Though this made me think, first time I've had to do that while posting in a while.
  16. That place is [bleep] gross. +1 I [bleep] love trains, and metros, and public transportation in general, it's awesome. Agreed to both.
  17. Damn you. :P
  18. Forget it, that doesn't work either. Anyway, here's my riddle... [hide=]You're in a room with a saw and a table. HOW YOU GET OUT!?[/hide]
  19. Or you know, he just lies to you and says "No." There was something like that. I thought that was it, but I suppose not. Maybe it was "Are you telling the truth? The liar would answer no (since liars don't tell the truth), but then that would mean he isn't telling the truth, which is true. And there we go, contradiction. Ah. (That could still be wrong, I'm tired...) And Riku [hide=]He's a midget?[/hide]
  20. [hide=A fork in the road (unsolved)]You are traveling and come to a fork in the road. Sitting on a bench are two people. One of them always tells the truth, while the other always lies. What ONE (the word "one" is emphazied for a reason :P ) question can you ask that will give you the correct way to go? Are you a liar? The liar would have no answer, so the world would implode and there would be no more fork.[/hide]

Are you kidding me? You mean the part when [hide=]he was actually fighting the battle the whole time?[/hide] if it is that then it was [bleep] obvious. But if you were talking about [hide=]the bugger queen[/hide] then yea, that was pretty unexpected. At least, I thought it was.
  22. The Far East is mainly what's called "Triple Religion", which is a combination of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. The first two are really prominent in eastern China, but they're more on the philosophy side than the religion side (not like there's a big difference in the east), which is probably what the map takes into account. Anyway, although I classify myself as a Christian (Protestant), I don't really like organized religion, so I suppose I'd hide out in Greenland or something.

You're not alone, that's basically what I think. Good quality sex ed would be laying down the options (including abstinence), teaching the options well (statistics, how to use them properly), but not really encouraging any particular option. And of course, making it clear that STDs are bad (they are, right? :? ), and teenage pregnancies can be a lot of trouble.
  24. The thing different about Aion is that it's been out in Korea for a while. Age of Conan, Darkfall - they were both starting fresh. Aion should already have most of the bugs worked out and stuff, unlike most newly released MMORPGs. I don't feel like looking myself, but what do the Koreans say about the game? Surely there are some detailed reviews out there already.
  25. I prefer pork jerky. And dried cuttlefish. I'm not sure if they're common in the west, I don't think I've ever seen either here out of Chinatown.
