Bookmarks
I havent read through this site, but there seems to be a fair bit of information on recovering lost bookmarks in firefox. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks You should make regular back ups of bookmarks if they are important to you. To do so, click on bookmarks, organise bookmarks, file, export, then choose the destination folder of your choice. Sorry I couldn't give you simple instructions to recover them, but hopefully you will find the answer on that site. oober

Egad, I screwed something up-Many failed-Will you fix it?
ok, so the icons are the correct size now, it's just the actual size of the whole taskbar? Don't know if you have tried this but just right click on the taskbar, untick lock the taskbar, then hover over the edge of it and you will get the double sided arrow icon, left click and drag down, this will reduce the size of the whole taskbar. When your done lock the taskbar again. oober

Agree with JoeDaStudd, the answer is in there somewhere. I tried to replicate your problem and managed to do it. Right click on your desktop, click properties, click appearance, clcik advanced, then click the item drop down box and choose active title bar, make sure the number next to it is the lowest it will let you go. If it already is the lowest it can go, make the number bigger, apply it, then reduce the number to its lowest possible again. The lowest it would let me go when using tohoma was 18pt Have a mess about with those settings and I think you will get it. Good luck oober

Glad it's running ok. If it does happen again, open up task manager by pressing ctrl, alt delete and look to see which process is using all the resources. oober

My comp is kinda slow...
does it run smoothly after the game has loaded or is it very slow. If it still runs slow, do you have any other applications open like msn, email client, skype?. I will say again to look in task manager when your computer is running slow, it will give you and us a better understanding as to what is causing the problem. oober edit* I forgot to ask, which browser are you using?

WIRELESS ROUTERS? <-- HELP NEEDED!
When you say crash do you mean the router crashes or you just lose your internet connection?

My comp is kinda slow...
Theres no reason your computer cant run smoothly on 512mb of ram, unless your gaming of course. You just have to use the right anti-virus and firewall, and cut down on your startup programs. Although I agree with blade995 you would be far better off with a gig of ram. Post some more details about the problem, when does it slow down, is it when you visit a certain site or open a certain program? Look in task manager when it starts to run slow and identify which process is using up the resources. It may be that you have the common problem of scvhost using up nigh on 100% of the cpu which most of the time is an automatic update problem. oober

McAfee Starting on Startup
If I remember correctly all mcafee services have "mc" before them. If your not using it you may aswell just uninstall it. Make sure you have some sort of anti-virus protection though, you wont get far without getting infected. AVG is a good free anti-virus which does not hog your computer resources. Also zone alarm is a good free firewall. oober

HP or Dell on Vista?
Both pretty much of a muchness when they are working. If anything dell may just edge it. You need to think about after sales care and what type of warranty you will get. It's not what type of computer it is that makes it run better, it's what is inside the computer. Give us a couple of links to the computers your thinking of buying and I'm sure you'll get a few opinions. And I would definetaley get 2 gig of ram if your going to get vista. oober

Problem Solved :D Lock please.
ok, you have to set it to boot from the cd/dvd drive. To do this you have to get into the bios setup. Usually this is done by pressing the delete key or F1 when you start the pc. When you get into setup you need to look for a boot menu. Set the cd/dvd drive to boot first then you should see the option to press any key to boot from cd. If you need any more help, just ask :) oober

Problem Solved :D Lock please.
You can try performing a check disk from the recovery console presuming you have an xp disk. You need to boot from your xp cd and choose repair windows xp using the recovery console. You will then need to specify which installation of windows you want to repair. If you only have 1 installation this will be the only one there. Then you have to enter the administrator password which is usually blank so just hit enter. You will then be at a command prompt, when there type "chkdsk /r" without the quotations. You will then need to type "exit" no quotes. Hopefully you will then be able to boot into windows. Good luck oober

a big problem someone help me please
First 2 things that come to mind are over heating and a psu problem, but could be one of many other reasons. As tripsis said, more information would help. Does this happen soon after turning the computer on, after a while of using it, or both? Does it happen when you open a specific program? How long has it been happening How old is the machine? I'm sure you'll get some help when you tell us some more info. 8-) oober

Help! Help! Need Advice About Windows Vista
I've had vista since it was released and have had no problems with stability. All the problems I have had have been with software and theres not really a lot you can do if it doesn't work, so if you do get it now do what blade995 said and google the software you can't live without to be sure. Also make sure you don't have on board graphics, and it has at least 1gb of ram. And don't bother if it's home basic. oober edit* if your feeling really adventurous, you could take binarypi0110's advice and try a linux distro. It is quite daunting moving to a new os and thats why there are live os disks so you can try before you fully install.

HELP SUPER URgent its so annoyi n
Have you tried using system restore? if not try restoring it to a date when your computer was working. I wouldn't have thought it would be clogged up with dust as it is a brand new. Also you shouldn't have 2 anti-virus programs installed on your computer. Choose one and uninstall the other.

Belkin Networking.
open internet explorer, click file, make sure work offline is unticked. Go to tools, internet options, connections, LAN settings and make sure automatically detect settings is ticked. If that doesn't work try using mozilla firefox to rule out an internet explorer problem. If none of these work, turn off your firewall briefly and try connecting then. Or if your comforatable with it, go into your firewall settins and make sure internet explorer is not blocked.

Upgrading system WITHOUT formating, possible?
Just make sure you back up your data before upgrading. I have performed countless upgrades and have experienced major problems on occasions, other times it has gone smoothly. Just be prepared before you go ahead with it.
