  1. Got some really seriously stunning visuals there :) cantwait.
  2. You actually don't need to because seafaring isn't as useful for rewards anyway
  3. Oh. That's good to know, I thought they did :)
  4. All the steel-based upgrades. You actually have to have them, not just build them once. Also, the totems plus 4 statues/telescopes
  5. However, it is pretty clear that at least some of those items/scrimshaws are better to have than others. Supply does drive prices, but so does demand. If there is zero demand the price will be zero.
  6. Well, it is shorter now, but yea they really did not fix it. And it's worse because you actually have to win now, can't just afk the game.
  7. If you can do it on your own like above (2 people on a single world) that would be a lot easier.. But still far too much. They should reduce the ridiculousness of castlewars and add some other minigames in instead. 1000hrs is more gametime than most games even *have* as required to complete everything (runescape's equivalent would be 5b xp + comp cape, which takes literal years of ingame time)
  8. Players always play to game the risks, and when that isn't possible they stop going to wildy content.
  9. Some game use global chat as global and it is not full of spam. Why real global chat is good: - more ppl will read new players questions - more ppl to talk - more ppl will write to player when he reach lvl 99 (now 99 announcement are pointless) You shouldn't be afraid of globla chat, runescape society isn't only trolls and kids. Even if they are the loudest. But jagex could of course add real global chat and local chat or even trade chat. Problem solved. But you still haven't said what is different about your version of global chat from a larger public radius??? It can't be world-global as there are just too many PEOPLE. Across a world of upwards of 2k players online at once being possible... That doesn't work. And if it's larger public chat radius that is fine for some areas. Ignore list wouldn't be large enough, and yes I could disable it.. but I don't see the value add. I do agree that larger public chat area would be nice, and having jagex-hosted equivalents of friends channels (like a jagex approved chat dictionary?) would be great. Allowing us to join more than 1 friends channel and more than one clan chat might be nice. But I don't believe a true global chat would work. So what do YOU mean? and how is it any different from a larger public? And how will it solve the issue of message count as it is now (we can only keep 200 total messages, and spam in game or public whether shown or not still removes messages from our wanted chats. I am hoping this interface fixes it but I am doubtful..) Global chat doesn't make sense in the context of RS where we have hundreds of people per world, and you can switch worlds on a whim. Increased public distance would be nice, so that we can see people's chat from slightly farther away.. And more friends chat channels would be great. In fact, I forsee global chat going this way: Older players disable global due to spam New players will keep asking questions in global, but no one answers. New players don't understand why no one listens New players do not learn of other channels available. This would not help to have a few hundred people's chat going everywhere. And you know people would just spam it for advertisements anyways.... At least we can disable it, but jagex's current system is that you can only hold 200 messages, and even if you 'hide' public, filter game, etc it still counts against your message history (since you can arbitrarily change the settings) and that means that you are receiving the messages whether you want them or not. This has a huge impact against friends, pms, clan chat, in that your chat log fills up too fast and deletes old stuff you CARE about but keeps new stuff you want to ignore. And if it's an opt-in global channel... how is that *any* different from a friends chat named "global", and owned by jagex instead of a player?
  10. The problem with Char is that her mechanics broke in EoC so that she does so much damage now, for people without armor. At any rate, hopefully the stat EoC stuff will fix this up a bit more.
  11. They *really* need a way to remove crap bonuses, and possibly give crew traits as well. As it stands, it takes so long to find a 10k captain, and also to find one that doesn't have any wrong traits..
  12. Those type of players exist, and it is better to give them real content instead of having them lure people etc.
  13. The changes they made don't seem to affect things outside of castlewars (armor bonuses giving stuff for castle wars only) and little concession awards which also appear to be cw only. It doesn't appear to be full game rewards. --- As for public chat vs global, I am fine with increasing radius of public chat, but for larger global spaces you can easily use themed friend chats (Jagex could even host a few ones?) I don't understand what the difference is? I do hope that each area can be edited while you aren't there, and that the custom stuff per area is more generalized. :)
  14. Herblore habitat is a good example, in my opinion. Basically encourages DIY instead of "buy" I'm not trying to argue against Do-It-Yourself, but simply saying that xp is required for skill-based goals, and that the culture of max capes (whether you partake of it or not) impacts how an update is viewed, played, and subsequently impacts the majority of players opinions on the content. The only aspect of bosses that I want for skills are activities which are designed to be repeated for the activity rather than for leveling the skill. There are a few, but they tend to be for long term gain (PoP, DnD style minigames), straight up XP, or what not. I do *not* want more twitch-gameplay like bosses. I believe that bosses fill this category nicely. I do think that Runescape needs to apply lots of things towards many different types of players, and that not every update is meant for every player, but that some content should be directed towards each type of player as possible.
  15. How is this any different from public chat (or themed friends chats)?
  16. I would rather have the offhand bind not count than require 2h to take two slots.
  17. JSON format is infinitely better than the one jagex provides.
  18. True global chat does not make sense with 2k players per world.. at ALL. However, I would like to be able to re-order icons in menus (prayers, skills etc I would like to be able to put multiple action bars up, and have more saves than 5. 0. I want this to, hopefully we get some, but I think that comes more with HTML5's better draw distance for one. 1. This is definitely a must. 2. Yes, we should be able to put inventory whereever we want. 3. Yes I would like drag-drop icons within screens 4. I am pretty sure we'll be able to do this. 5. This is stupid. See above posts. This is what friends chat is for. 6. This would be nice. And better log filters so that chat logs from public don't destroy messages in private or friends. 7. This had better exist so that you don't have to recustomize constantly 8. Yes that would be nice. Multiple action bars, with ability to hotkey them to seperate keys 9. YES! This would be nice
  19. Other than the office(which gives you additional ships) port upgrades should be generally very low on your list of priorities. Most of them should be gotten only once you've fully maxed ship/crew(as in pincers maxed). For the office upgrades, don't rush too much with 3rd ship, you won't need it until the scythe region. However, 4th ship should be gotten ASAP in bowl, just after getting most bowl crew. For general tips, always use crew with merchant trait(highest you can) on resource missions, solidarity crew are very very useful but golems aren't. For later regions, rudder upgrade should be high priority. I would always prioritise the Office upgrades. Especially at the bowl, You should get that before you even get crew.
  20. Please please please let this be true! I am hoping we can remove those title bars, and I also hope we can drag individual elements out as we require. Especially hope the skill and noticeboard interfaces don't block out the screen like they do now, and htat we can pull parts of it out. I hope they fix the citadel stuff as well (the citadel resource page is completely broken, numbers and math are a total farce, numbers negative when they shouldn't be) At any rate.. This looks super slick, and if the beta/alpha plays anywhere near as slick as these shots look.. I am really impressed. This is really really jaw dropping images. Ofcourse we don't know how they work in practice yet.
  21. I agree. For those you can't watch videos I took some screen shots. [hide] [/hide]
  22. It's basically standard. I wouldn't worry too much about losing crew, it doesn't happen that often. Early on you should be able to do all your voyages for gunpowder and even maybe slate. But once you get to cherry wood, doing all voyages requires some pretty odd sleeping schedules. First things: ALWAYS get more ships. As soon as you can, get the upgrades for more ships. This is your #1 priority. Go for ship upgrades, and new crew first. You can ignore other port upgrades for a while, but once you start getting near clearing a region focus on getting enough stuff.
  23. The RS3 stuff looks AMAZING. The castle wars stuff seems good, but I didn't hear any mention of what the comp-cape req will be...
  24. YAY! :D Then maybe I can convince more people to use it!!
  25. I just want the ability to modify the citadel resource page which currently shows completely misleading numbers and does not help anyone.
