  1. Best quote to understand the CEO doens't know what he's talking about: The way they talk about the lamps and xp from the squeel seems to think the only valid prizes are the LARGE and HUGE lamps. The small lamps add up a lot more. We already know you can buy millions of xp for a few hundred dollars. Now, this isn't a good RATE, but the xp/hr earned from spinning is greater than the xp/hr for actually playing. It's not practical in the long term unless you are rich but the fact that it is simply glossed over is really annoying.
  2. I agree with Fallstar. I put value in being able to manage your time wisely, via choosing better methods. However, it depends on what methods were available to you at the time.
  3. It's a good way to visually show players they're doing stuff.
  4. They had complete access before, as long as they're running as administrator. Usually they aren't, and therfor only have access to whatever you do without clicking the UAC dialog "Yes". Most likely it is either just default, or they need it for detecting bot software.
  5. I didn't even know it was common on the release weekend. I did manage to finally get dragon and queens (I got most of it release weekend but I needed a few more) I really hate all these cosmetic outfits that we can't get without buying spins. Mostly because spins leads to xp/gp and not just cosmetics. I would gladly pay for just the cosmetic stuff off squeel and nothing else! :c
  6. Donations definitely account for how far he is now, but his dedication is the reason for how far he is at all. No other player has consistently done these types of training methods for as long as Suomi does. How many of those players were offered donations and turned them down? Can you even know that?
  7. No player accusations are taken into account. Players are the ones who choose the graphical punishment of the bot. That is all.
  8. Grr. I am still missing the suntan emote.. :( Not to mention getting all the dragon/queen's outfits takes a lot of luck also.
  9. Let's assume we discard any of the "buyable" skills, and just not count them. I still think Suomi is way ahead.
  10. Yeah, all the change does is "eliminate" the summon+defence pure. now they won't show up as lv101.
  11. Less then that, probably around march or early april that bots really came back..
  12. Cosmetics. And technically it saves time on almost all skills (at a high cost in gp at those rates) Personally I believe that black market GP sites aren't good for the game, but they cause *less* inflation than the SoF. At least they have to perform game actions. Yes they can perform more game actions than a regular player (due to no sleep etc). They do cause item inflation though, which is also pretty bad.
  13. Seriously.. the GP involved is probably the smallest part. He would've done it without donations if no one had chosen to fund him. But people want to help. The shear amount of time and dedication involved not to mention his skill with maintaining high levels of efficiency for hours on end is the reason that he's come so far.
  14. I would prefer one strike. I also hope that one of two things happens: it detects bots very quickly, or two it detects computers so if you bot on a 2nd account or create a new account and bot that it nukes you instantly, so that you can't just create throw-away accounts and wait for 2nd strike to wear off and manually transfer gold in person to a new mule.. Less efficient but it all depends on how long the bans are and how fast a bot gets detected. And yea, I'd shit bricks too if the arrow pointed at me...
  15. I don't, because the cosmetic stuff is so stupidly expensive to "buy" from the wheel because it's all so stupid rare. Just remove the stupid SoF and put the outfits in loyalty/solomon >.>
  16. I believe it does the same thing on range and melee. It increases chance to crit.
  17. Anyone know what the max damage boost is now? 9% + 20% + 15%? And how does the extra lvl boost work for example when using overloads? Adds another 21% boost? That can be quite useful.
  18. There are almost always zero people at herb habitat when I look, and when there is someone they usually don't look like they are botting, most answer politely if I try to talk to them while passing through. There's little incentive to bot Habitat because it doesn't create any GP/products you can sell. --- Good job Suomi! Getting really close now :)
  19. They mentioned that they planned on revising the aggression algorithms so that you wouldn't get attacked by everything in site unless you draw their fire. (via cannon etc) but would still be attacked by 1-2 of the monsters. Hopefully this gets done right.
  20. It's more difficult to social engineer something if they have no way to get a relationship with you, but it can be done. For example, a jealous friend could hack pretty easily (so lets hope we all have good friends) because they might be able to get into conversations. And some of those questions can take time to get someone to answer but you can direct conversation to make it happen. A 2-step verification is best, but at least for now use a password safe program that encrypts files, and store the key on a flash drive (plus a simple to remember password). Then never leave the flash drive hanging around, and use entropy generating tools from the password program to create random entries for recovery questions. Done. That will pretty much stop anyone from hacking you unless you get key-logged while typing in recovery questions.
  21. Why do they persist in making some things worse.. can't we get like better internal review of graphical changes??? I am pretty sure we already complained about the beta character model..
  22. That would be nice... I am hoping they just make monsters less aggressive, as that would be simpler :)
  23. But enough information along those lines is stored and they can ask people who know you. Yes, unlikely in runescape, but social engineering works very well in a lot of situations.
  24. Make up questions and answer those instead of the ones they ask. You should always use random answers to security questions.
  25. Ofcourse it did, until prices die down as the gear enters the game. Once it's had a while to settle I don't think it will stay the best money maker, but we'll see. At least now there's more different drops so it means more likely to get one of them instead of nothing. That does not have to be true. If the chance to get a 'rare' drop (hilt, armour, etc..) was for instance 0.1% before the update and still is now, you would still have 0.1% chance to receive a rare drop. Say, if you would strike that 0.1%, there is 50% chance of getting a Saradomin Sword and 50% chance of getting an Hilt. If the 0.1% has stayed the same you would now have e.g. 33% chance of getting a Sword, 33% chance of getting an Hilt and 33% of getting one of these amulets. That way, drop rates for specific items went down and the drop rate of 'rare' items in general would stay the same. I am working under the assumption that the rare drops will have the same rate as before, with additional chance at the new stuff. It might not be true of course, they can make the drop rates whatever they want. But it would be nicer if they had more chance. I am not a fan of the concept of "get lucky" or "kill this a ton of times to get 1 lucky item" I would much rather have more decent small drops than to have one good large drop. But that isn't the way of things.
