  1. and there goes my post-like quota for the day! Oops.
  2. I did charm sprites for the first time the other day, and apart from the trees.. it was FUN. However the charm rewards were crap, and the trees get in the way so its hard to see and click. (new trees are actually annoying more than pretty in a lot of areas!)
  3. The bot who gains skills while offline is bad because it devalues the time that someone has legitimately put into the game. Part of runescape is the competition. That competition is lost when someone can bot 24/7. The bot who gains gp/gold is bad because it devalues the gp of everyone in game and encourages purchasing gp, and not actually playing to gain. This bot has a more visible effect on the economy and is perceived as much worse. However both types of bots lead to the destruction of the community that makes this game interesting. Bots make players not want to train since they have to fight over spots, and they make people able to not train via purchasing of cheap resources and buying gold, and they eventually lead to an economy that is out of balance and people quit because they can't compete. Both types of bots are bad for the health of the game. But on the topic of "it's time to do something about bots"... Jagex doesn't have a magic wand. They can't just say "poof" and bots disappear. They are working hard as evidenced by clusterflutterer and the bot system they just (partially?) released... But these things are always circumvented eventually. You're trying to stop programs without stopping players. But programs will get more advanced and I imagine at some point they won't be able to tell the difference at all. The best jagex can hope for is making it difficult enough or unworthwhile enough that bot developers move on to easier targets.
  4. If everything is flat 2x, that could be a lot of records... but probably not enough to beat out effigy records for other skills...
  5. You have a fan club apparently :) Go go go :)
  6. We simply don't know. The "more info" hasn't been released yet, I expect it sometime next week.
  7. I've found draconic's to be fairly slow at lower levels though (low 80s) so it might be helpful, but I wouldn't buy the 10% aura. Jack of Trades is a must, though! Also, I would buy greenfingers t4 over the others since it helps torstol farming a bit. Many people are saving for the bankspace on loyalty to be released if jagex keeps their word on that one...
  8. Titans may not increase xp/task but they definitely increase xp/hr way more than the avatar would.
  9. I've been following for a while, but not since page 1. I remember reading the thread when it was new but I didn't seriously follow it.
  10. Agreed. They definitely should fix it.
  11. Shouldn't and have are two different things. And that relies on doing it right, which a) their code might not be that simple, b) the developer made a mistake etc. While this is a relatively simple change, it is not impossible that while working on that change something breaks. I'm not saying it would be difficult, but the entire process of discovery -> fix -> validated fix -> released takes a lot longer than 30 seconds.
  12. While true, even simple changes must be validated. That takes time. I've created several bugs because a "simple change" did something I wasn't expecting. In large complex systems the problem space only gets larger.
  13. I preferred the old system where the bonus wore off as you used it.
  14. Too late for buyable xp, lamps already provide that.
  15. I have plenty of friends who do non-completionist/goal-oriented things. I spend a fair amount of time dancing with my friends for example. I think the advent of the clan chat, the friends chat and clan system, and all has allowed more social interaction without having to appear that way. Also, the advent of the max/completion capes have increased the visibility of the efficient gameplay. I enjoy efficient gameplay, calculating the best methods and so on. I think as time goes on the dedicated players get older, and as jagex have claimed a decline in new players, it seems to me that an increase in efficiency/dedicated gamers would occur, because fewer casual gamers stuck around and new gamers weren't as common. At any rate, I think that the main change in focus was probably the max cape release. Now tons of players can be more vocal about "going for max cape" instead of "going for max total" But there are plenty of people who are more casual for sure.
  16. I remember posting on the old scapeboard forums but I quit for a while and then the forums moved here..
  17. I have had a lot of people say the game is stupid without seeing modern runescape. I think they still believe that the game is the same one from 10 years ago, which it is not.
  18. Interesting, that isn't how it was made out, Based on the "days left" I had assumed it would simply be lost after that many days. Good to know. I don't have a screenshot, but I remember having 2 pyramid plunder tasks day of release. Obviously I could be mistaken... :s
  19. I wanted free trade back, I could've cared less about the wilderness. I think they didn't do justice to the return of the wilderness though.
  20. It might be more profitable than before though, as they have a good sequence of drops that will be desired which it didn't have at all before. I imagine it will be crowded for a few weeks though.
  21. Some of their recent re-works have been amazing. Granted they should be as polished on day of launch, but I really enjoyed the update temple trekking.
  22. a) all challenges disappear after 5 days of receiving them, b) you can have the same challenge twice.
