Jagex: Thinking of Gambling Alternatives?
Surprised that "I reposted from another forum for additional exposure" is credible, but saying that it's fake is not. Neither one is really credible, but it would be nice to have a source either way.

Mod MMG on RuneScape Micro-Payments
I think the lack of EoC might be because it's so close around the corner, and we already know about it. I think MMG wanted us to see the new stuff so that we'd have something fun to discuss rather than continue discussion of something we already have a ton of information on.

I think they have a lot of good concepts, but they need to make it their own instead of (poorly) copying other MMOs. My biggest concerns are basically around how much input is required, when most of the abilities don't require thought, you just want them to activate as much as possible. They should allow the basic abilities to fire automatically, when they pop up, as this reduces clicking for the same result. Threshold and ultimates should all be more interactive and require better timing. Also, bar should drain much slower during any combat based minigame, so that we don't lose threshold or ultimate while switching targets (dungeoneering especially needs this)

So I'm wrong there, then. Still, even if there wasn't a (higher-than-reasonable) cap on buying spins, you'd still have to find someone who was willing to spend that much. I've got no numbers or facts or any of those other things that people ask for when they hear something they don't like, but I doubt that there are many people that spend hundreds on spins each day. Probably fewer than the amount of people with more than 10 hours per day that they can spend on the game, but that's another kind of real-world advantage entirely  . Yes, even spending the max per day is ridiculous. And historically, people with more time have always been better at MMOs, but we already accept that as fact so no one complains.

What I hope they do is make flowers show as red to other players, but stay colored to the owner, because I do like all the choices :)

Mod MMG on RuneScape Micro-Payments
Indeed. The last time someone did a "test" they came out with something like 1/4 of that. Admittedly, that's still much more than training it would give, but that's another problem entirely. I think they should take a page out of LoL's book and make the solomon/sof stuff available to everyone but through a slower way or after a certain amount of time has passed. Eg. you get points for doing stuff like gaining xp, playing minigames, killing bosses, or whatever. And then you can spend them on what you want. Or after a year has passed, the items become free and everyone can get them. Or after a year has passed they are added to loyalty shop, etc. The current system is way too extreme considering we're already paying monthly. I mean, really. But doesn't the stuff in LoL give actual gameplay advantages? That would probably be why they're also available to non-payers, albeit harder to obtain. Runescape's microtransactions are only cosmetic, and don't affect gameplay, therefore there's no real reason to allow everyone to get them for free. I never got into Lol, but I thought their CS was cosmetic only? I guess that changed. Either way we're already paying for membership, we should have access to everything. Jagex is just greedy for trying to make us pay both ways on a 10+ year old game no less. LoL's system allows you to buy characters and other enhancements that minorly boost you. However everything non-cosmetic can be obtained if you have enough time. Generally speaking, buying characters just unlocks them permanently but they are on rotation so anyone can play them some of the time. You can also speed up the time to reach max player level and you can buy amulets and other items that give minor boosts (all of which can be earned through playing as well) Basically, it's "Pay to Win sooner" Indeed. The last time someone did a "test" they came out with something like 1/4 of that. Admittedly, that's still much more than training it would give, but that's another problem entirely. If you were allowed to buy any number of spins, you can get far greater than 200k/hr. I believe based on experience that it is >1m xp/hr spinning if you had infinite spins. (especially with the addition of hotkeys to spam through them faster)

Mod MMG on RuneScape Micro-Payments
I hope they don't change this, because when they start selling the ability to broadcast messages (which apparently happened on MapleStory) I want to be able to block them. I want the ability to choose to view world messages, I don't want it required. Just allowed while still blocking all the pointless in-game messages like "you mine the ore"

Barehanded butterfly xp per hour
i agree with hedgehog, you need to test more to get an average result. I would personally give both methods a try and see which you like most. It really depends a lot on player preference of what you can stand doing for long enough. Also keep in mind that hunter level matters for catch rate on things so it isn't really useful to give lv99 xp rates for people who are looking to reach 99.

speaking of filter they still haven't fixed it so we can see the world messages when filter is on...

Sizzling September!
1) I am pretty sure they pushed it back due to many issues that we have asked as a community they would please clean up. 2) I would hope the insta-kill darts don't work on boss type scenarios for quest or quest like minigames. It is bad enough they might work against the bosses, and they are pointless if they only work against non-boss mobs. We don't know the restrictions of the kiln darts yet, but that would be pretty OP if they could work at jad/kiln

[exploit patched] Disable Java NOW, users told, as 0-day exploit hits web
Java and Javascript have (almost) nothing in common, besides the name, and the fact that they are both "programming" languages of a sort. The above poster mis-understood the no-script plugin/extension. NoScript prevents Javascript, and it *might* be able to prevent Java as well, not sure. But that is a different setting.

Jagex: Thinking of Gambling Alternatives?
Not to mention players could still RWT with the money they won. Not as much incentive, but it's not totally hampered. But if the "house" was Jagex, then the GP could just disappear. This means that you can't RWT the "wins" since they are set against you so the house always wins in the long run. This creates a very useful sink, and de-legitmizes regular dicing equivalents as we have now since you know that you won't be normal-scammed, but only math-scammed. I prefer this approach to keeping dicing/gambling as it is now As long as it performs the function of the host, (takes money in, spins a lucky number and sometimes spits money out) that would be fine. If it costs RL money, or wasn't a gp-sink that is a problem. Let's hope for the former.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
It's essentially a series of fixes for broken parts of the game. I mean yeah, a lot of people will throw a fit because they can't 1 hit their opponent or gain a giant advantage because their main gave their pure dragon claws, or even (and I've actually heard this one) the idle stance is different. Most of these people will never be happy no matter what because their rose tinted glasses are permanently bolted to their skull. Of course I'm not exactly unbiased here so if I'm missing something, I'd like to know, but I really can't find anything wrong with EoC that isn't rooted in personal opinion. Many of the ideas and goals of EoC are great. I dislike the ability interface, though at least they cleaned up adding abilites to the bar. I don't like the way I feel like I am button mashing to perform abilties and an obscene rate. I would prefer some sort of queue where you can put a limited number onto the bar, and keep adding as it becomes empty, and they fire off the queue one at a time... Right now, I feel like I have to mash buttons constantly in order to not miss firing an ability

Power Training Construction
According to grimy's spreadsheets, at around 3m/hr generated income it becomes more worth it to do mahogany tables due to time saved. At <1m/hr it is best to use oak logs and the lumberyard scroll to make your own planks.

81-99 Herblore (Ovls or not)
Isn't it hard to buy/sell them? Not always. And they get a much much larger bonus from effects like the scroll of cleansing, due to the secondary ingredient costing a lot more. OT: I would suggest doing overloads, assuming your signature is your character. You aren't a lv3 skiller who has no plans to EVER do combat, so you might want them. if you ever change your mind you will want overloads. if you don't mind this mind-change issue, then I suggest doing what is cheapest xp/gp that still provides a decent xp/hr https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AldEhLOK6ejJdEt4SDZMY3F3SVY3UE9UWHRGU3VNQUE#gid=8 has some links to good updated spreadsheets that give xp/hr and gp/xp rates. I would suggest prayer renewals after 93 as those are pretty decent xp/hr and don't kill the bank. Also make sure you get scroll of cleansing if you haven't already.

Doesn't the exploit require people to click the "i trust this java applet"?

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Jagex needs to make more radical changes akin to the Evolution of Combat. If they stay afraid of people who dislike change, we'll never see Runescape improve very much. Even minuscule updates cause huge backlashes on the forums. Vocal minority or not, bigger changes (even if they are 100% for the better, such as the EoC) always create a lot of dispute. Jagex just needs to ignore these nay-sayers and just focus on improving the game (and SoF, SGS, microtransaction bullshit too, of course). If totally reworking how Runecrafting works would improve the game, I'm all for it. EoC isn't necessarily 100% for the better. --- My idea was that imbuing items with magic power (imbuing staffs, tablets, etc) would all be runecrafting, but the casting of the spells is still magic.

The Big Chinchompa & Boost Your Bank! (28th of August)
Draconic jadinkos have a pretty bad catch rate at level 80...

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Part of the reason they did that is because no one goes into wildy since PVP doesn't have its own rewards, you have to hope someone has better gear, but it turns out you can rush and sometimes win without as much risk so people tend towards that. This means that people don't have real targets, so jagex adds content in order to ensure at least a few people have to go inside the wilderness..

They really should just say "GMT server reset is in 5 hours..."

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
I never really got left alone in the wildy, but at least generally they didn't hide out in the penguin chats trying to find where to hide.
-
The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
IMO: Win. I don't like the wilderness, because the only people in there a lot are penguin hunters, and people killing them. Fewer people who can attack me is nice.

The Evolution of Combat: BETA discussion
Depends on what you fight. If it's bosses, the Dual Wield ultimates are extremely OP, if you're just doing slayer or something, I prefer 2H'ers. (Unless you need a shield, of course) Is that because the dual-wield ultimates are overkill at slayer while the basic and threshold ones are less powerful than the 2h?
