Blood Runs Deep - A Struggle?
To all the people saying how easy this quest was: Firstly, this was not a very hard quest, and you are quite right. But still remember the difference in using a guide, and knowing what you are going to meet, and to do the quest without having any more clues than what is said in the quest, and what you can think up yourself. Those sentinels took me a while to figure out how to kill, and I also did just take one sort of elemental spell when i was going up against the queen the first time. Adapting to what you see, and making up some strategies that work, on the spot both makes the quest a bit more challenging, as well as more rewarding (for me at least) That being said, i actually have to say that combat wise, this quest wasn't hard, compared to let us say boss hunting. But compared to the different boss fights we've already seen in quests, this was actually one of the harder ones. What made this quest easy for me, was that there was actually none puzzles at all. You were told what to do at any moment. Good for a change, but still something i do not want to see in too many quests.

I would say it would be quite a challenge. If you have 43, or 40 pray, that might make it a bit easier. The first part where you have to fight, you have to survive for quite a long time, while under constant attack from range, melee and mage. This tears down the food quite a lot, but if you try to only have one melee on you, and kill the mage as soon as possible, then it might be possible. I would suggest using brews though. Later on, there's a part where you have to escort a hurt king vargas, here you pretty much have to tank for him, this includes a lot of dagganoths, those walrus-mages, and rock lobsters. You're going to have hell here without 43 pray, and 45 def. With pray, it'll be pretty easy. The queen shouldn't really be a big problem, Just take a lot of food.

Prices for looks? Really?
You make it sound like that for everyone to live in their means is for everyone to not spend a little extra money. Just because you're living in your means doesn't mean you should be watching every penny, getting the cheapest stuff. What are you going to do with that extra money? You get items that are comfortable in your budget. Anyway, you've made several comments about superficial stuff and thrown around a couple of big words. Pretty funny stuff, makes you sound smart. That's called putting up a 'front.' The same way you 'front' when you're wearing nice clothes or what have you. I think you are speaking past each other now. It's not like you have to live a life where you either only walk around in rags, or "watches every penny", but not either the one where money is priority number one. I do agree with qeltar here, that a rolls royce for me, just shows me a person that would rather spend a lot on money on something to show the society how rich he/she is. If people actually looked past money, and social status as their #1 priority (which is a lot of people, even if they don't indent it to be that way) then we would all be better off. But back to the topic. I really think that dragon legs/ dragon skirt, is a bad example. Let us look at the items that actually does not give any stats at all, and therefore have no other use than it's looks. Why do people even buy these? Why is there a market for berets, canes and similar? The rares have a use, like the rolls royce we've talked about earlier, to show off their wealth, and "social status" And dragon legs are actually useful, if not as useful as it would be to upgrade to barrows, or keep at a skirt. But say white berets, which is priced at about 600k i think. This is not very expensive, so most people will not use this for showing off their wealth/status. Neither can it be used to anything that helps you in runescape. But still, the price is relatively high. There are people buying this. So of course, people also buy items purely[/] for looks. With this in mind, there's not a wonder that there's a difference in the skirt and leg variants of the dragon armour, or in saradomin trimmed. guthix trimmed, and regular rune armour.

Post all RS Screenshots, Videos, and Sounds here!
The guy who was lending out the armour was being honest and trustworthy, while you abused this trust, and ruined it for other people. While you may have paid him for the Armour, he did not actually want to sell it, so you have taken the item away from him, and therefore it is scamming. Playing runescape has nothing to do with your post count. I used to play a lot, and have barely any posts, while people who barely play at all have a huge amount of posts. Posts prove nothing, and your moral compass certainly points in the opposite direction. i asked to buy it. he said for 60k didnt say anything about Lend add him and ask him omg Edit: This has nothing to do on this forum. I'm sorry.

Prices for looks? Really?
When I "dress up" in something that looks slightly better than the base clothes, I don't do it so that these 12 year old immature boys are going to bother me, because as you say they'll do it anyway. But the reason that I do, is rather just for myself. If I think it looks cool / classy / whatever, then I'm wearing it just because of that, while i don't give a damn about what other think about that. (Most of the people I talk with is via the clan chat anyway) It is actually exactly the same point as MHL came with. When she's wearing that bra, it's not at all because of what other persons thinks about it, but because it's something that you self like better.

if you die at the queen you get a grave, and is taken to this Valhall place (fremmenik/viking heaven) If you ask just to be taken to back to the island, it is just a minute run back to the grave. If you die at the queen, that is. I don't know if you get a grave if you die in the dream land.

Hunter 53-61
Salamanders are quite fast, and is actually still faster xp then red chinchompas until level 80. You could also do grey chinchompas, if you want some gp as well, but it won't be as fast xp as salamanders.

You might as well just use the points now, because there was no option to use it on summoning, unless they have changed that since yesterday

Blood Runs Deep - A Struggle?
Well, I didn't have any troubles with anything before the mother. The first time, I used a bad tactic, which got me owned by her melee attack. Since i was already low on food from the sentinels, and the fights before that, i teleported out. The second time I lagged badly, and got killed. The third time I got her finished off quickly, only using 3 rocktails. :) The colours and switching attacks was never really a problem. Figuring out that it was her melee attack, and not the range or magic attack that hit me for 40+ attacks was worse though >.<

during the quest, you are called far-strider i believe, or after completing the diaries or something. If you are wearing rockshell armour, then you are called rockcrusher. And I believe there are other names for skeletal and spined armour, but i don't know those, as i did the diary with rockshell.

he asked me to go get my sea boots, and then come with him. I guess that is where the diary comes in. i diddnt need my boots, i was wearing dragon boots all the time. so that still makes no sense Oh well, then it's all about trust, and to give the quest a fairly good requirement i guess.

Prices for looks? Really?
Tell that to a scottish person :P, Kidding. Yeah, isee your point, but if i had to either pay 10 bucks for a skirt, or 110 for pants, i'd just leave. but this is where the point of how much money people in runescape have. We can easily afford to pay those 110 bucks for the pants, because we have nothing better to spend them on anyway.

Of course people do it, and it's okay. Although when doing combat i'm wearing the gear that helps me out the most, i still use a lot of time hanging around, doing nothing. This is when I use a outfit i like a lot, and is there purely for looks. This includes a beret, which is worth about 500k. Just look at treasure trail items. With a few exceptions, most of the items you get from there are purely for looks. There are no difference in the stats of a rune platebody, and a rune platebody(s), but still, it is over ten times more expensive. Another point of this, is that in a game, unlike the real life, we don't have differing looks. All faces are the same, all are of the same length, and all are almost just clones of each other. The clothes therefore gives a bigger role in giving you an "identity" others can recognize with, and that perhaps also tells you something about yourself. [/hide]You raise a very good point, i was just thinking, would Merchanting clans have any effect on these sort of items? Manipulating clans can certainly use tt items as objects for their manipulation, as they are high in demand, and low in supply. But for generally rising prices, manipulation clans don't have a big role, this is rather explained by the fact that people have more items in their hands nowadays, and therefore can afford to pay more. (But if you don't want to discuss economic matters as inflation and such, i would advice you to leave just that topic for now. There's plenty of people on here that would love to discuss that.)

[hide]First, the colours. The first grayish color needs to be attacked of the axe. White = air spell Blue = water spell Brown = earth spell Red = fire spell Orange = melee And green = range The way i did it, (the time i was sucsessful) was to wear melee barrows armour, for protection against her range attacks, while i prayed melee. I found that she didn't use her mage attack often when I stood close to her. You could also take karils or similar to protect from magic, but that'll lower your defences against ranged, which she uses much more often. I would not advice to protect against anything other than melee, since that can hit 40+. It ko'ed me once, when i tried protecting from mage. Other than that, bring a prayer potion, perhaps stat boosting stats. A super defence could come in handy, as well as high healing food. (in case you mess up, i would say shark+) Another tip could be to fill up a bob with more food. It gives you more room for failures, as your inventory is already filled up a bit by the runes and diffferent weapons.[/hide] On the other hand, smelly's tactic might work just as good. She isn't really that hard. I had Neitz helm, Mystic top, veracs skirt, barrows gloves, Axe in my hand, D boots, Barrows gloves and Firecape the runes, a crossbow in my inv, runes, 2 prayer pots, a emergency ttab + rest rocktails (I had a yak full of 30 rocktails but I never touched them) I ate about 7 food on duration of the fight I tried mixing up the karil and guthan armour i was using, but to me she used range attack at least 3x as often as the mage attack. I used a god cape for mage bonus, together with an ahrim's staff i just bought for the hell of it. gave me a mage attack bonus of -2 i think, barely missed her with the mage attacks. The range ones didn't go so well, however, so i kind of gave those up. I used piety when i was meleeing her, thought that it would be best to use the axe for all that it was good for.

you'll probably want to bring both some melee armour, as well as some dragonhide or similar. Take a melee weapon (for the start), and both a ranged weapon, as well as combat runes. (i didn't take robes for this, as i needed defence, but a magic staff of some kind may come in handy.) Other than that, take perhaps a couple prayer potions, and quite a lot of food. Would a salamander work? wouldn't count on it. It would pretty much only be a use for the final battle, as a range weapon. And then you would be better off with a rune crossbow or something like that anyway.

I don't know if you can enter it after the quest. But during the quest, you can cut off almost all of the rooms leading to the dk's, that includes the doors you have to open, so you can go through by yourself now. (if it still works after the quest, that is)

well, i can't confirm an 170, but this weapon does hit a lot harder on dagganoths than it's str would say. Without praying, nor on a slayer task, just potted with super pots, i hitted well over 50, and that is with 85 str.

a combat oriented quest? Seems interesting. Although i hope there is at least some kind of puzzle here: I like to have something to test my brain against :)

That could explain why I have now gotten ten rings from dark beasts. That could very well be the thing. In my kills, the first 1000 was from hounds, demons and gargoyles, while my ring dropped from a task of 90 iron dragons after that. I have done two iron dragon tasks after that without a ring though, but that is just 170 kills, and not a wonder at all. We should ask people to keep logs in how many they have killed of the different creatures in the dungeon, and how many rings. It would make it easier to find the drop rate. I know that I will, on the tasks I get in the dungeon from now on.

well. two on a row, if they are 1/250 is a chance of 1 in 62500. So it's probalby lower i'd say. if we say it is 1/75 then? That makes a chance of about 6500. Not that rare. (Still like getting a visage though) I haven't had maths in years now, so could anyone calc out the chances of doing 1000 kills without hitting the ring, with a 1/75 probability? I guess it's not that rare, like 0.1 or something. You can technically get two visages in a row, but the probability is about 1 in 25,000,000. So if someone told me that they did get two of those in two kills, i'd say they lied. Not because it's impossible, but because in twenty-four million, nine hundred and ninety-nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine times (that's 24,999,999) in 25 million, that will not happen. (assuming a drop rate of 5k) So we can look at two drops in a row, and say that the probablilty should be lower. edit: meh.. on the other hand. perhaps 1/150 would be better? I've not heard of other ones getting two in a row, and since only I alone have killed 1500 now, i guess that would have been heard of a little more with such a low drop rate as 1/75. I don't know.
