Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
I don't think you understand, people have alched 1-2k of them that's 45m into the economy. Yes that is 45 million. And if every person had 1-2k boots, then it would be terrible. But most people have few, just a select lucky ones had a lot of boots, and they have earned an impressive amount from this. But even if we say that a few billion have entered the economy, that's still not a too big hit, if you consider how gp actually flows in the economy on beforehand. Maybe the general prices will raise a few days, but nothing major. It's not a constant gp flow anyway, just a one time happening.

Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
Sounds like they messed up sligthly, but I don't think they need to rollback this one. It's enough to just be fast, and change the alch/sell price to be closer to zero. There's not too many people that earned on this update yet anyway.

Clue scrolls
For level one clue scrolls pickpocketing ham members are the fastest way of getting them. If you're not to keen on the idea of pickpocketing, then killing men, or other low levelled creatures would be okay, but it's quite much slower than pickpocketing Hellhounds are the most frequent droppers of level 3 clue scrolls, but with no other drops though. Jellies, greater demons, just doing slayer assignments are good enough, and quite fun. For level 2's I'm not entirely sure myself, as I haven't done them as much, but either harpy bug swarms or pyrefiends are good choices, I guess. They have very many creatures at each spawn, so you won't spend time waiting for them (f.ex. guards) to respawn.

Does anyone actually LIKE every minute of getting a 99?
I have no 99 skill, but I've gotten 91 slayer, which I guess takes longer than a few 99's. For me, it's about playing in a way that mostly keeps the fun in playing. There's times when you don't think about it as directly fun (compare it to watching a fun show on web-tv, playing a fps, joking around with friends.) But it's more something that you do because you like doing it, even if it's not fun. It's very much alike playing an instrument. When I sit down with my bass for practising on my homework, it's not because it's fun, but rather because I like it; it's a mindless task, with rewards at the end. But I could never do much of a task I don't directly like. That's the reason I haven't gone for a 99 in a skill yet. I like putting up smaller goals that are more manageable and brings in variation into the game. I'd rather have five skills at level 80 than one skill at level 99.

Guthan Set Effect
Don't quote me on this, but if I remember this right (it's three or four years ago I've heard it though) It's approximately 15%. Edit: 1/7 = 14%. I guess it's around there.

Which Money Sinks Would Help Runescape Economy?
What I don't get is why on life and death should put up bigger sinks into the game for. The only thing that would be good for is creating even more instability into this game. Runescape has always had some inflation, and quite a lot as well, if you compare the value of 1gp today and 1gp in 2003. And there should always be a goal to try to keep inflation to a minimum. The problem though, as everyone here knows, is that you don't have a accurate way of entering cash into the game. It's not something the state (read: Jagex) makes and manages fully, but rather everyone in the game does. Of course this is a system that creates instability, but overall it's working quite great. The job now for keeping inflation to a minimum would be up to Jagex to "balance" the flow of gp into the game, but I don't think they should mess around too much on this. If we look at the inflation that occurred after the introduction of the pvp statuettes, it has been a line that boosted at the start, and slowed down after a while. Actually, the inflation we see now have slowed down and pretty much stabilised. The reason for this would be that all ways gold pieces enters the game is "static" One action gives x amount of gp back, no matter how much gp is actually in the game on beforehand. If inflation occurs because of this, then all prices will raise (or rather, the value of gp will sink) and thus, the value of doing the activities like pvp tricking will get less valuable, or effective if you want. So pretty much what I mean is that if you leave it to itself, and don't mess around with the in- and outflows of money in the game, then it will eventually balance itself out. It's when new content that messes with the balance of this that we see sudden changes in the economy, like we saw with the statuettes. Back to the money sinks that would help the rs economy. I don't really think it is a goal in itself to give gp more value than it has now, since the economy has stabilised pretty well right now. And if we introduced a money sink then people would just hoard on to money, making it harder to sell items for a while. There's not many reasons to do this now, as you still get rewarded with the same for the amount of work you do, relative to the other prices in the game. Remember that there's no big difference if the "base level" of the economy is 5, or if it is 10. So if we say it has changed from 5 to 10, not good in itself, but it doesn't justify subtracting 5 just for the sake to get back to the old level. There is one part of this that actually would benefit from having an economy with a more valued gp though. Since 2004, and the introduction of runecrafting, there have been one chain of activities that people have seen as the "main motor" of the economy for a long while. This being the creation of rune essence, as well as using woodcutting, crafting and fletching to create items to high alch. As the price of all these things (and pretty much everything else that was made to be alched) is bound by a static gp price, the alching price, they will get worse to do as the gp is worth less, just as less people tricks in pvp. This is a bit sad in my eyes, as I would like a game where skilling was more rewarded than it is now. I think there was a thread about this this week as well, wasn't it? But this is still a purely subjective point of view, and is more about what the game should be about, rather than how the economy right now should be "fixed". (which I as mentioned, don't think it needs) Tl;dr: I think the economy has stabilised well enough, and that messing with it more would harm it more than it would benefit.

Slayin' Styles
Absolutely a powerslayer. Paying more attention and being rewarded for it is the game style that suits me best. So I move in between attacks, uses potions and prayers, and try to be as swift as possible in between tasks. But I take breaks though, farming, clue scrolls, chatting, facebook, youtube, reading up on news and debate them. I really just don't like multitasking, so I'd rather pay 100% attention to slaying for a while, with breaks from time to another to do other stuff instead of trying to do all of it on the same time, and just end up doing all those things slower.

Isn't that the guardian under the salve temple? I remember it looked almost exact like dark beasts. Too bad they changed it to a regular guard dog though, was more fun with something special down there. (but apart from the myreque quests, I haven't been in the temple in years.

LOOKING FOR STEALING CREATION CLAN
Fast sc is the biggest clan around now, and would get your games done fast. The downside though, is that the games can be big and therefore a little confusing, and that they are very strict on their rules, so it's not place to be if you want more relaxing games of sc. Sc asap is another clan, it's lesser, and thus the maps are lesser, more manageable, and they are not as strict on their rules, so it is a bit more relaxing. They are not as "good" as fast sc though, meaning that if you really want to get the games over quick, and get points as fast as possible, fast sc would be your best bet. Both these are non-cb clans though. I have no idea of combat clans, as I absolutely suck in any pvp combat, and avoid it like the pest.

farming record?
To you guys arguing a few pages back about the amulet of nature. It actually DOES increase the yield when farming, and is not a runewiki lie. I checked out the kbase. http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/farming_extra_features the interesting part would be: Finally, if you wear your amulet of nature while harvesting an allotment, your crop yield will be greater (though not quite as much as using magic secateurs, and using both does not 'stack') Totally irrelevant though, as the magic secateurs are better than the amulet. But just to have that fact clear, I thought i'd post this. :)

Slayer points
Uhmm. Why would you spend the 2k points on ice wyrms? There isn't really any other cape to use there than fire cape anyway, as it gives improved damage (much like the ferocious ring) Unless you really, really, really can't get a fire cape though, but most people are able to get that cape within some tries anyway. (and some lucky people get it on their first try -.-)

slayer advice?
Firstly, I'll have to say that camping abyssal demons probably aren't a too bad choice. They will on average drop a whip every three or four hours. (I'd never stand it though; for me the point of slayer is variety of what I kill, not camping) In training, I'd suggest using the highest slayer master you can, but if you find Summona more fun, go for that - it's what the game are for anyway. Also, gear-wise. I'd suggest getting a bunyip, that can help on a lot of tasks. Also be sure to use a black mask/slayer helmet. I don't know what gear you have. But getting a fury and berserker ring (or even warrior ring) would be a good improvement. Supplies: I'd STRONGLY suggest using pots while slaying, they speed up incredibly much, and you'll not even notice the cost of them, compared to the drops you get from slayer. A cannon - If you feel like it, cannoning tasks like bloodveld and daggannoth gives very good xp rates, don't expect to profit on these tasks, but the overall profit from other tasks will easily cover this. Summoning - As already said, a bunyip is very helpful on a lot of tasks, and a combat familiar will be nice for some multicombat tasks, like fire giants. Be sure to use your charms to get yourself a few easy levels :) Prayer - the last "knot" you can turn on to improve speeds when slaying is prayer. Piety (at 70 prayer though) is a very nice boost, although it's costy. I'd consider doing this if you have a soul wars cape, otherwise It'll be quite expensive. I really understand if you choose to not do this. I'd not suggest using Chivalry, as it gives a lower boost than piety, at the same drain rate.) A middle way when it comes to this, is praying "superhuman strength" (for a 10% strength boost) It drains a lot slower than piety. And you'll only use a few prayer doses each task. This gives almost half the speed boost as piety does. Make sure to use your prayer every task, even if you don't bring prayer pots to recharge it mid-task, it's very helpful, even if it don't lasts the whole task! Technique: If you like to pay attention, you can make sure that you keep up your attack speed. Move from monster to monster in a way that you don't loose time between them. DO NOT WAIT FOR YOUR DROPS - death animations are quite long on a lot of monsters, instead of waiting, attack the next monster at once, and you can rather pick up the drop in between attacks, instead of wasting time waiting for the drops. Other tips: Herb farming is a great thing to do in between tasks. Ranarr weeds give a good profit nowadays, even without scroll of life, they add up as an extra 200-250k between each task. That will be 20m or so on your way to 85 slayer. Manage thy kingdom (after royal trouble) is also great. Just make sure that you have a good bit of money in the coffers, and visit once a day to keep your approval up to 100%, and you'll earn a lot each day for basically doing nothing. Please answer this post if there's something more you'll ask about, I might not be able to answer too quickly though - but 85 slayer takes some time as well, I guess.

For some reason or other, jagex got angry at meh, and now look at my stats! :o well, it only lasted for like 15-30 seconds before returning to normal, thankfully :P

04-Jun-2010 - Behind the Scenes June
they could take away the highscores, and re-release them to thunderous applause too it seems. I'm glad we're forgiving, at least sometimes :D Didn't Coke-Cola do something like that.....? i know they took away / rereleased fanta lemon / fanta mandarin / fanta grape here. Removed one, put it back, removed one, put it back, removed the third, put it back within 3 years. That might just be CocaCola Norway though... who knows? What coca cola did, was that they changed their recipe for their cola, thinking it would be a huge blast, and the last thing they needed to beat pepsi cola. The only problem was that the recipe sucked, and coca-cola lost sales to Pepsi more than ever before. After some time with this new recipe coca-cola decided to bring back their old recipe. But instead of just selling coca-cola, it was now called "coca-cola classic" This boosted the sales way more than they used to be before they even tried messing up with the recipes. Humans are weird like that. Anyway, about the BTS, I don't know if I like this more or less than not having the BTS. It was very well known, and knowing (partially) what update you're going to get is helpful I guess. But I actually like the surprises, maybe because I wouldn't think about what update I would have, and speculate about that before I actually got and tried my content. This is why I didn't like BTS a few years back. People would be so hyped up about an update, and always imagine how great it would be, and tons of people, thinking out the update that would fit them perfectly, would be disappointed after receiving the update, and not being up to their own standards or expectations. And God forbid that Jagex tries to postpone an update now. They would be flamed to death. Anyone remember when they actually gave up on "wilderness tag" (the idea is what today is those vardes you lit to get an adze though. Anyway, the complaints were horrible. But a planned no-update week will probably not be as heavily flamed, or disliked as before though, as we'll know on beforehand what we're going to get, that's a good thing, I guess. And finally, I honestly this won't make a big difference on the forums, in how many people will support the update, or flame it to death. The people that usually sees the negative sides will continue to do so, and the overly positive persons will probably continue to be just that. The persons this will make a difference for, would rather be the average runescaper, that don't have so strong opinions about every single update, that they need to flame it, or praise Jagex for making such an update, he'll just get the impression he gets, and hopefully, that will be better now.

Impressed, Pret. That is a LOT of ores. By the way, if you feel like paying attention while playing, you could try superheating those ores while smelting, you can do both at the same time. But again, that means a lot more attention. Anyways, next time, don't let Link give you bad ideas :D

Tip.It Times - 30th May 2010
Yes, but you would either have to buy those items (get help from others), or you would have to add the time taken to gather those items. If you do that, then doric's quest takes slightly longer than the blood pact.

3rd Age/Spirit shields/Phats Discussion
Yeah, I assumed it was this. Most people wouldn't bother with timing this up with someone else though. The chance of loosing the impling would be too big

Questing Rampages
As most other people here, I have also gone on these questing rampages, doing a lot of quests in a short amount of time. I have always loved quests, and for a long time, that was the only thing I played runescape for. However, as much as I love quests, I wish I never did more than one quest each day. I think that if I didn't do as many quests over a short amount of time (which I have to admit, was very fun right there, means that I cannot do quests, except when there's a new one released. If I had been a little more reticent (that is the right word, is it?) with my questing, then I would have been able to enjoy questing over a much longer amount of time. (and I have to add my little thing, I really don't like quest guides, ruin all the fun for me. Too bad that I've done quite a few quests with them, before I realised this)

200M in all Skills
So he went from a good game to a game that is absolute trash? Can't say anything about that, but he most definitively went from a mmporg to a fps, I'm no game programmer, so I can't say how good the games are, apart from that I find both enjoyable.

Yay, finally got 2000 total level. If you asked me a couple months back that I would get this, I would have laughed. But here I am. :) (didn't bother to crop the picture, I'm a little lazy today) Also, runescape decided to give me a little gift for my level :D

Just the song I hoped would win :D The song is just so charming, or to quote the guardian: "Look at her, bobbing around and mispronouncing words like a pocket-sized Bjork. She's adorable. "

POLL: What do you think of the latest Castle Wars update?
Except from the fact that you can no longer heal a person holding your own flag, or that damage done to this person is doubled, then they ignored flag holding, yes?
