Pirated movies: Why?
No, I'll have fun watching movies from talented filmmakers who are passionate about making movies, regardless of what kind of budget they have and what kind of money it makes. If movies stop making as much money because of piracy (which is not the case, piracy doesn't affect movie sales at all) the only difference is we will see less big budget movies to safe franchises. I'm somewhat bemused at people working without pay. Actors are not the only thing that goes into a film, especially quality films where money surpasses nine digits. Soon after, the theaters close which results in a slight decline in local revenue and job positions. I can assure you that piracy does have an impact on both live films and physical media. Why pay when you can watch it for free in the comforts of your home? But the argument doesn't hold up, because people still pay. The ones who aren't paying probably wouldn't anyways. There are also a number of people like me who pirate, then pay for the good stuff. Piracy hasn't hurt sales at all, and in some cases actually helps. Where pirated versions are better than the legal counterparts (for example TV shows, they are high quality and no commercials) traditional numbers have gone down, but DVD sales are even higher. Piracy doesn't hurt the movies or music industry, and it just hurts the advertising part of the TV industry (but DVD sales make up for that), so it isn't causing job loss. And the reason theaters are shutting down most likely is because it costs $6 to see a matinee movie (not bad) but if you want to eat and drink something it is $6 more at least. They charge exorbitant prices for everything. $12 US? God, I'd love to pay that sort of price, as it is, it costs around £12-13 once you factor in everything (minus bus fares). Really, the prices are that high now that I barely consider it unless I really want to see the film, if I don't want to see it, I won't even bother downloading. If a film doesn't make me want to pay that sort of price, then it simply isn't worth it to me, and I won't bother with it at all.

How To Convince My Parents?
Do you make it a point to come up with stupid scenarios? Quite simply, if a parent doesn't feel a child is safe enough while doing something, then they have every right to stop them, below a certain age (I'd say 18, since thats the age when they are considered adults). There is no reason why your kid should go to a midnight showing at all, it is no different from any other time. If a responsible adult (again 18+) is going, I'm sure the parents will feel safer about their child. All in all, it comes down to the parents' decision, and, if they do not feel that their child is safe enough, or if the child has a commitment the next day, that involves the child not getting a decent amount of sleep. Why should the parents let them?

How To Convince My Parents?
Yeah, it's a movie theater, little danger in the place itself maybe, but outside you've got what? Pubs, nightclubs and the like. It takes one drunken man to start a fight, and you could end up in hospital. You however, have tried to make my point seem less valid by throwing out an extreme circumstance. A glass bottle to the head could happen, and around a drunken crowd, who knows? Maybe it's a small chance, but I've still seen it happen. Maybe the kid trusts his friends, but maybe the parents don't. They'd have their reasons. Frankly, I don't see the difference between seeing TDK late at night, on a school night, and seeing it during the afternoon on a weekend. Please tell me how it made the film more enjoyable? Lack of sleep, honestly, I've felt all the effects. Been to school once with about 2 hours sleep, stayed up all night several times. It's hell on your body. It can be harder to even lift your arms, and you'd be relying on caffine or sugar to give you energy, that definately won't last all day. Frankly, if I feel that sending my kid up town late at night could be dangerous, then I won't let him. Hell, around here, every time there is a large gathering of people, for example, Bonfire night. Someone always ends up getting stabbed, or beaten, hell there was even a stabbing near a large amount of people, during broad daylight, and this area is quite far from the nearest major city. All I know is that large crowds, and alcohol don't mix.

How To Convince My Parents?
Yes, I see your point. I too, would not have a problem with the kid going to a midnight showing, as long as they were not required to be up early the next moring for something. However, going to see a film at midnight is hardly any different than seeing it during the day, and is a hell of a lot more dangerous. Really, it's not something you can complain about, it will not be any better by seeing it at midnight. Though honestly, I'd need to know who exactly they are going with, and if I do not trust it is a good enough group, then the child shall not go at midnight. To be honest, I hate going being up town late at night. Was up town about 10-11pm with my Uncle after seeing Terminator Salvation. With the amount of people drinking and such at that time, it doesn't feel like a safe place to be, so I'd be worried for my kid's safety in a busy town that late at night.

Zombie Plans-Revised
Oh crap, I put the same one down twice. It's interesting seeing your response though. Remember, while "they" are not human, they still look human, so can be harder to kill. Anyway, I'll put my answers down. 1) I honestly don't know if I could until the time comes, though, I'd likely have no problems killing in a life or death situation. 2) It will change me I think, my main priority would become more of being that of survival. 3) Heh, I just put this in as a joke, I wouldn't do it. 4) Personally, like Doomsavenger, I say it also depends on the situation, though at the start, I definately want a smaller group for survival. 5) If it is their wish to die, rather than become one of them, I would grant it, though with a little difficulty, as they are still human. 6) I'd have to say it depends on the person, for example, I'd have a lot more trouble leaving behind a young child than one who is elderly. 7) I asked that to Mage_Man through MSN, I'd go barefoot. 8) My mistake there. 9) If I had an easy means of escape, I'd injure him so he is no problem, then leave him to feel the pain from zombies. 10) If I had to stay there for awhile, I'd be glad to help to preserve order, since I'd likely be hiding most of the weaponry where they cannot find it, who knows how many will want to try killing the zombies when there is not enough ammo to kill them all, and it would only attract more.

Zombie Plans-Revised
[hide=Quotes] So basically... 1: Set up nukes. 2: Zombie apocalypse arrives. 3: ??? 4: Profit! Yup Sounds good to me, but instead of the nukes let's use you as bait. Instead of bait, sacrificial offering to nothing in particular. An offering to Sworddude, that may satisfy his urge to kill team members for a while. Hey, my violent tendancies need satisfying too, you know :( [/hide] I still lurk in this topic you know. I will still be feared. So now, I propose some questions. So I read through a manga which has a zombie invasion (though they are referred to as "them") as its main theme (PM me for link, it's not G-Rated, so, unless mods have an issue, I will send a link to users, with a warning). Basically, it was some High School students (in Japan no less), who deal with an invasion due to a disease. So, I'll move onto my questions now my reason why is out the way. 1) Do you honestly think you can handle killing? 2) Do you think it would change you as a person? 3) Would you think you'd go insane and start a cult with free love? (haha, had to ask that) 4) Do you consider a smaller group to be an advantage? 5) Do you have any problems with killing an infected teammate, knowing it saves their pride by not turning into one of "them"? 6) Can you be able to leave people behind if you cannot save them? 7) Assuming that "they" work on the basis of sound, then scent, then sight, would you be willing to walk in socks/barefoot to be silent? 8) Do you consider a smaller group (less than 10) to be an advantage? 9) A man driven to insanity is about to rape someone, he has had to kill his family, do you wound him and leave him for them to find, or do you kill him? 10) You have found a place with other survivors, a leader is struggling, do you give them a handgun, and enough ammo to kill everyone to keep order? The leader then struggles to stop someone raping another, do you kill the person, or merely choke them? (I'll wait for a few replies, then put up what I feel.)

Manga/Anime Discussion
Personally, I'd say you have to do both. Though I end up reading before watching. Clannad, was actually good in my opinion too, I guess how they ended it showed both sides.

How To Convince My Parents?
His world is pretty good, just gotta talk with him better. No, this doesn't mean I want to swap lives Sworddude.... Damn, thought I was close there. Dusqi, there is a limit on restriction parents can place, which can be found to be reasonable, I have spoken out against unreasonable parents, not going to a midnight showing is a reasonable restriction however. A complete ban on drinking for example, is, in my opinion, unreasonable. Allowing their child to drink, within reason, makes it no longer a forbidden substance, therefore, making it seem less attractive (like the apple in the story of Adam and Eve). My parents would allow me to drink, underage, in their presence, they always have, I just chose not to. Parents should be there to instil good values and morals in their children, to better prepare them for life in the future. This involves placing a few rules for their own good. That all being said, as long as you are not a paying tenant, what rights do you have to complain? If the kids find it so unreasonable, they can move the hell out of their soft lifestyle and experience the hardships of the world. Where they have nowhere to go, and no money. Makes a few restrictions seem like heaven, does it not? Argue with my stance all you like, but kids need rules and restrictions.

Pirated movies: Why?
Pirating isn't stealing either, it's copyright infringement. If you don't know the difference then too bad. Though isn't "public display" still copyright infringement? I remember the stuff awhile back, the warnings that said you are not supposed to show them in public areas, which should cover schools, would it not? (Since Prisons were a listed example.)

How To Convince My Parents?
Your parents have a good point in not letting you go. If they say no, they mean no. I've said it before on here. As long as you live under their damn roof, you follow their damn rules. They don't want you to go to a midnight showing? Then you're not going. It's as simple as that. There is no benefit to going to a midnight showing. Sure, maybe it's something I'd try do, but my sleeping pattern is that [bleep]ed that going to sleep at 4am one day won't change a thing. Meanwhile, you, I assume, have a fairly normal sleeping pattern, it is going to be worse if you do only get 4 hours of sleep. You'll barely have the energy to move on that day, and generally feel crap. You have caring parents. Don't complain about not being able to go to this. It makes you sound like a little brat who didn't get the toy he wanted.

Manga/Anime Discussion
Wait till you see the awesomeness known as JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. :XD: If it has a really in depth storyline and isnt crap at being funny or action-based (Naruto lolololololololfail) I might give it a shot. I liked Elfen Lied because of the epic storyline.. It was so good. Admit it, you just liked the nudity.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Nice, I hope things turn out good for ya. Why did she do it over a text though? :? School's out here and we don't live close to each other, plus we're really too young to meet each other anywhere (both our parents are really strcit). I won't even get to see her until July :( counting down the days. Unless you are going to be able to see her very regularly I doubt it will work, unless of course you like long distance relationships. Long distance relationships mean you can pretend a lot of things without really having to back them up. Long distance relationships are terrible, and stupid. Just because you can't handle them . Personally, I have no problems with long distance relationships Shut up Mage_Man before you bloody say anything, lets leave me out of this. A few users here have been in them, and, if you look further back, someone (Tripsis I believe), gave some advice on them, basically, I think it involved saying they can be hard, and you have to endure the times when you want to be next to the person.

Euthanization of the Disabled
Robert, why don't you learn to shut up? You've made a topic which you know is going to incite flames, and you think that by adding 1 sentence, people won't. Please, give us a valid reason for your views. Disabled people can still function within society. A disabled child can still bring happiness to the parents, who have no objections to caring for it, and they can grow to be functioning members of society. It is morally reprehensible to kill those who are disabled. Frankly, there are clearly enough resources in the world to go around, so what? We kill someone and give someone else everything they would have used? I'm sorry, but I find that disgusting. If someone had to die, against their own wishes, just for others to live slightly better, I'm sure that any human being would be sickened.

Final Fantasy Discussion thread
Ugg, I had to fix that. At least be able to do Roman Numerals right, or use the damn numbers. Approaching 7 hours on FFVII, only at Kalm, just after you escape Midgar, and that was running straight through with no leveling. Though the Elevator Boss did take awhile as I only had Materia on Aerith (or Aeris, whichever you prefer).

Abyssal Demon setup
Basically, my preferred setup now is: Neitiznot Torag's Body Torag's Legs Glory "Barrows" Glove Skill Cape (Fire Cape if you have it) Dragon Boots Wealth Weapon is Sara Sword. If you are at least 69 Summoning, take two Bunyip Pouches and two pure sets. Along with a couple monkfish, just in case. (Normally, I take 5, but I stay over my Bunyips then).

Is God real post your thoughts!
If that's the conclusion you've come to then the only rational answer is that god does not exist. Say we prove God exsists, and prove that he is the creator. Then we ask "What created God?" It can go on forever.

Homosexuality: Right or Wrong?
I agree, it is a good analogy. Wanted to reveal that double negative, eh? People usually think of homosexuality as 2 men, most people neglect the 2 women scenario... :-k Since a majority of the people here are male I'd say they just don't find it as offensive as they would 2 men... for... some reason. Stop being sexist men. :shame: Every guy has it built in to find think of two hot women going at it as hot. It's hard to explain.

"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice
Ugg, I'm getting sick of saying this. It's only akward if either of you make it so. It's more akward if you keep it to yourself.
