2011 - Will there be a Runescape and will you be playing?
Waltchelg replied to Greedom1's topic in General Discussion
my thoughts exactly. I always end up playing a little bit each year. My account just slowly keeps climbing up there in total level. -
Eh, most of the people that say BC had the best raiding were generally people who started playing in BC. Almost all of the old school vanilla players have long since quit with the exception of some mega-nerds. (at least on the server I used to play on) I don't think there will be another boss encounter quite the same as C'thun and the huge AQ gates event (that my server won ^_~). I'd even add that Naxx was a really really fun 40 man raid, but they already took that instance and dumbed it down for the masses in WotLK. ---- Wildy was fun, but the trade limit thing is a bigger issue for me. Not being able to send over money and armour to an alt is kinda lame.

AFAIK All of those sites are pretty awful in terms of actual hits. There have been several cases where people run two separate trackers (such as Google Analytics) where there is actually javascript on your page and whenever that is loaded it counts as a hit and the differences can be quite astounding. Most of the time these sites under-report numbers, or have no real way of truly knowing.

Make the Runescape Community Look Cleverer at Only $11.95!

"u" and "r" are mildly annoying. If you use numbers or symbols in your words, then I'll punch you in the face and ignore you. All lowercase and punctuation don't really bother me at all. Honestly, I find typing lyk dis 2 take longer to type out than the correct way anyway. There's a difference between a forum and in game though. I hold much higher standards for forum posting than in game. -
This is weird. I honestly doubt they decline gaming transactions... If you live in the US maybe it was because it was an international transaction? When the grandfathering of payments first came into place I thought about keeping my sub, but realized I wouldn't play at all so I just canceled. I have a tendency to play this game in spurts of a month or two at a time with equal or more time off. Some months I'm just less busy than others and I need to fill time. The dollar savings doesn't make up for the month or two where I wouldn't even play.

Are there any "old school" players still out there?
Waltchelg replied to tjd123's topic in General Discussion
So you people will [cabbage] all over someone who decides to play as a DIYer but glorify some ridiculous [bleep] who got lvl 99 slayer strictly from SW? Honestly, how people play the game is how they want to. "It's not efficient!!!!!!!!!!"... not everyone plays the game for that reason you ignorant people. That's like asking someone who decided to build their own house why they did that instead of hiring someone to do it for them in 2 weeks. There's a sense of accomplishment that comes with this kind of stuff. I'm not agreeing with the use of the term legit, just the idea that some of you are dumb. -

This has been my favorite blog for quite some time now. I used to play similar to this, except I would sell all of my extra stuff. Then I got too much money and started merching... and one thing lead to another. Good luck with all of your goals :D -
I use IRC all the time, but not for Runescape stuff. Mostly for tf2/cs channels and the other random gamesurge channels I'm in.

POLL: What is your total skill level in-game?
Waltchelg replied to Cowman_133's topic in General Discussion
I'm at 1688, been playing on and off for around something ridiculous like 6 years.... I tend to have ADD and level up skills relatively evenly except fishing because I can do other things while doing that. -
I'm happy with my play time... doesn't make me want to kill myself :P Time Played: 75 days 23 hours Not bad considering my account is older than my tipit reg date... although I did have a solid 3-4 years of not playing. It's nothing compared to my 400ish days in WoW =\

Definitely remove the trade limit it's an awful idea. Bring the old wilderness back... I never did much but low lvl PKing on an alt, but it was a lot more fun than the current system. Remove the Grand Exchange completely or make it more similar to an auction system with no limitations (read: WoW Auction house) Give more benefits to the players who complete high level activities (more items such as the Fire Cape that cannot be traded) -- That's all I can think of for now...
-
^ that and I have mild ADD so when I'm watching a movie by myself or doing some other menial task I can play RS to keep me occupied. It's made me realize time and time again why I don't communicate with 90% of the people that play RS. Watching in game conversations lowers my IQ.
-
Meh, I've never been really interested in getting a 99. I've been playing for ages and only have one 90+ skill and that's because I can fish while doing other things. The skillcape update really pushed most people to getting them, and I had quit right after the slayer update so I didn't get to see that update come out. By the time I came back everyone had them so they seemed pretty pointless. I just like going for goals like all 60+ stats or all 70+.

My char started out like this when I started playing RS something like 5-6 years ago... Then I found out how to trade a week in :P Damn good job on this, it takes a lot of patience to pull this off. Absolutely amazing job so far good luck on the godsword pieces! -
Will jagex make an unsoloable monster?
Waltchelg replied to Squisher_33's topic in General Discussion
The issue with having harder bosses come out on a more regular basis is the items that they drop. If they consistently come out then Jagex will have to do something where their drops aren't some ultra-rare item otherwise you're just going to have bosses crashing the value of existing items every month or so. As someone else pointed out having a boss drop a higher volume of items that are currently in existence or just creating a new item for a similar purpose could solve the problem, but again... it's a matter of risk vs reward. Creating a hard boss fight for a menial reward will deter a lot of people from fighting said boss. -
Will jagex make an unsoloable monster?
Waltchelg replied to Squisher_33's topic in General Discussion
I completely agree. I'm one of those players who largely plays by himself except when one of my friends randomly starts playing during the summer. My stats aren't anything ridiculous but the thing I've come to enjoy in this game is doing things solo/duo. Is it really a coincidence that every boss so far has been able to be solo'd? The game so far has always gave players the option to solo or work with a team to do things at a lower level. I can see them adding more boss encounters that can be solo'd, but require an immense amount of skill to pull off a kill. (read: old WoW boss fights except taken down to one player) EDIT :: Though, I have not done any solo boss fights in this game so I'm not really sure what is the strategy to beat the current content (minus KBD/KQ/GWD)
