I'm using a Maxtor 5000 external hard drive, and I've used it for well over a year, all of a sudden it says it needs to be formatted, obviously I not want to do this, there goes all my music, my artwork, and what not. Any body know what I could do to correct this problem?

He said, as long as you use the bank booth to deposit the fish/items you can bank those, once you're done I assume you go talk to an actual banker and you will be teleported back to Relleka.

I own an island!! 4th update!! give me feedback ye laggards!
JacobRyan replied to Nazgul740's topic in Art and Media
Well I think the water still needs quite a bit of work to be honest, and so does the grass on the island. The grass just seems so random and squiggly. I think the waterfall in your 3rd update looks much better than the current to be honest. Your clouds and moon could use some work, also with the moon where it is, it wouldn't be exceptional but there should be sometime of ambient glow near left corner of the island (our right side); after all it is a light source. -
I remember you mate, nice to see you posting again, it has been quite a while hasn't it? Well it seems you haven't lost your touch, keep it up and post some more stuff. (This is Teenageloser33 by the way)

So? Make it look decent, things don't have to be just like the way they are in RS. Deviate from the original and make it unique, dither it, make it smooth, add some nice maybe sparks and little whizes of purple type lightning coming out, you have so much that could be done with this but it seems like you won't do it because it'll deviate from the way RS is.

I shutter to think what the rest will look like.

Oops, sorry I didn't know I was supposed to hold your hand. Forgive me. And search Google for guides, I don't see why people always expect things to be provided for them. Also, what does Jesus have to do with this? EDIT: I'd also like to add don't use your age as a scapegoat, Godslayer, who is 13 or 14 now, is an amazing artist and he's just about your age. Oh dear, it seems you must actually work for something and it not be handed to you.

Go to http://www.imageshack.us and from there click browse, and navigate to the picture, then click "Open," then click, "Host it." Copy the "Hotlink for Forums (1)" and paste it into the reply text field. Then click Submit. Problem though, imageshack does not support .bmp, save it as a .PNG

So we're supposed to hold his hand through it all and go, "Okay now you do it just this way," no! That's the main focus of critcism is finding out what is wrong, you'll learn way more if you take the initiative to learn how to fix it on your own then if someone tells you how to do it. Sorry, but we're not your art teacher or you mommy and daddy, that's not our job. Our job is to constructively criticize a piece, and by constructive it does not mean, "Here this is what you have to do to fix it and make it perfect," it is on the other hand, "This is wrong, this is wrong this is wrong," but not in a rude manner. Now you want us to focus on other things? Okay I will start with the guy however, horribly done. Part of his arm has a chunk taken out, apparently people have perfectly round heads, one hand has a glove the other doesn't. No shading at all, the scimitar is just not done well at all, shape it better, google some pictures of a scimitar and reference from there if needed. The crotch is all messed up, one leg is apparently skinny and the other one has some genetic formation of elephantitis on it, and one last thing for the guy, that's a shield? Couldn't tell. Also his feet are far to small, how would you support yourself with feet 2 inches long and 90 pounds of armour on? The stuff at the side, party hats are meh, okay, but not wonderful, once again no shading. The coins are all shoddy and different thickness, try adding some dimensions for them instead of just drawing in a stack, show a few laying about, a small knocked over pile or something with some dynamicism in it. The mask, I dunno, no shading, misshaped, what else is there to say, it's just like the rest of this piece, very poorily done. I do not see how one can produce something like this and go, "HEY THIS LOOKS GOOD!" and post it, honestly I do not. God knows my first wasn't amazing or even great, but at least it showed that I tried way more than you did. Basically learn anatomy, learn shading, umm... art class 101 is for you buddy?

Good job PJB21, he never gave you permission to do so. Copyright Laws 101, no reproducing of the work is permitted without the straight expressed consent of the original author.

This is very good for your first mate, very good. Now you don't even need stock pictures of clouds, give me a moment, and I'll post up some settings you can use on the standard soft brushes to achieve that effect. But this is very good, and I'm looking forward to seeing a full size Space scene from you. Also, good job not using a tutorial and figuring out for yourself. Alyn has an amazing mind and he always told me, "I'll guide you but I won't tell you how." It all comes down to this, "Well here is an idea how it could be done but you'll just have to do it yourself." Thus doing it yourself you might find a nifty little way for yourself to do it and make it your own. Great job mate. Actually give me a little bit longer :-P. This is the method I use for the little piece you see in my sig, not the best but I didn't have much time. Was for a graphics battle and time was of the essence XD.

Enjoying the fruits of your labor? Hahahaha I crack myself up, good job mate.

Too random, seems as what you did for this was "AHH lets dab a bit here and a bit there," you can see any true form of composition. Even abstract has compisition to it. Seems like you just didn't care when you did this. Personally I see this sig as ugly. Your brushing is horrid, no true skill it seems. As I said, it seems like you just went nuts and didn't care. Then to blend the render you threw in a huge yellow blob of crap and blended a picture of the action figure Master chief. Sorry, not going to kiss your wagon.

Updated: Colour Started Last Pixel C&C please.
JacobRyan replied to xxbamxx's topic in Art and Media
I got to this topic very late, but oh well. Cartoony may be cute, but realism is a true display of artistic talent and shows how well you pick up on her attributes. Personally I'm a realism type of guy, but that's me. -
Hot ladies! NAKED! (Just kidding. It's really just Terragen)
JacobRyan replied to Zonorhc's topic in Art and Media
A digital painting made with terragen? That's a new one. Terragen is a 3d landscape rendering program, lol. Zon, this is very nice. Though as Nad said about the left side and the sunlight. You could probably fix this though in photoshop by adding some very carefully place white lines, then setting them to overlay. It'll just take some experimenting. -
I thought there was supposed to be awesome "pics" here, where are they? :-k
-
This I am well aware of, but when people go, "Woah that is really awesome :D and it looks really cool," to stuff that is basically utter crap and you only had to piece together. Thus taking no skill, yes I'm going to make a comment like that. Because why are we going to condone mediocrity? If we do not lay into you and give some hard down good criticism such as Axe has done for you, then you will not improve. You will keep making crap because your mind will think, "Well they liked it last time," and not to mention the fact I never used buddies, I either pixeled all my own stuff or didn't do it at all. How in the hell do you expect me to respect a piece of "art," when all you had to do was piece it together? Dang, I could do that too. I can't respect something that I know didn't take very much work. And before you make a comment like, "Oh well lets see some of your pixels buddy!" save it, myself, along with a few other people that still remain her and pixel know what I can do.
-
Woohoo the condoning of mediocrity has begun!

Nadril is quite right, okay I use a picture of Johnny Depp in my sig, but number one, he's my favorite actor, number two I obtained the photo from a legal stock site, number three, it's not like my sig is horribly done and it's slapped in there to cover up the horrid background. Now on to bigger things; as Nadril said we did stop it for quite a while, I believe we called it Viva La Revolution, if I'm not mistaken. As many can see, for those who are left a remember me, my use of these boards has dwindled quite a bit, but as Nadril said we had a good streak. Even myself I hate using renders but for on piece as my sig below I felt like I wanted to, no harm done; considering the way I went about getting the photo. Also people might take you a bit more serious if you were to have spelt "copywrite" correctly, seeing as it is "copyright." Also I hate to be a stickler, but a well formed arguement and not random babbling with hopeless displayed in your syntax and grammar helps immensely. PS: Nad, get on MSN, I got an idea and I want to run it by you.

Yeah getting things to work correctly with Terragen, especially concerning the amount of experience I have (Which is basically none), was hard for me to get the texturing done correctly. I tried importing real textures once I was in Photoshop, but moreso I got it done for the battle, so now that you've pointed these things out, I'm going to go back and see if I can correct them.
-
Thank you much guys.
-
There is no original, this is completely made by myself, I did this piece on my own. From working in terragen to the planets in photoshop. Read through the entire thread and you would have caught that.
-
I agree with you, more so in the landscape area, in the space area it's kind of subtle and nice, I'm going to see if I can fix that so if I can get it looking better, I'll show ya guys.
-
Well for this piece in particular, I started out by forming the mountains and what not in Terragen, after I got what I was happy with I rendered it fully and moved to photoshop. From there, I took out my camera and went around taking pictures out side of rocks and very texturey stuff. From here I maniped the texture by combining, cloning pieces, messing with blending mode, then putting it on top of the mountains. After this was done I started on making the planets, and doing the nebula, the fire/ice deal. Then had to manip my terrain so it was icey on one side. I'm getting to lazy to type anymore lol, but that's the basics of it.

Thanks you.
