Hi everyone! As you know we've been keeping in close contact with Jagex recently as they are taking a new stance on fansites and reaching out to their fan base. We've decided it's time to let you all know just what we've been e-mailing them about, and what new things are going to come out of this, and most importantly, if there will be any changes to Tip.It because of it. So many things were dicussed in our correspondence that rather than try to cram it all into a news post, we've devoted a page to it instead. You can view the page here!

Hi Tip.It, We'd like to ask for 5 minutes of your time if you are a subscribing member of RuneScape! We'd be very grateful if you could visit the shop at Soul Wars and check the charms tab for how many you will receive of each type. You can do this by left clicking each of the charm types in the shop and the amounts will appear in your chat box. What we'd like if you can is a screenshot of the RuneScape window after you've clicked all 4 types of charm (this means we can ensure you didn't typo anything) with your summoning fully charged, and your stats page open. It may be best to click the "Game" tab under the chat box if there's a lot of people around. This means we can see summoning in the little box at the top and also all of your combat stats which we will need to generate accurate combat levels. If you'd prefer to just screenshot your chat box that's fine but please list all of your combat statistics in your post. Note : Please post your screenshots inside hide tags! Hi all, This just a quick call for some very specific information from some of you as I'm sure some of you will match this criteria. What we are looking for are members who have level 69 or level 81 in any of the following stats: Attack Strength Defence Hitpoints If you have one of those and a spare moment, could you pop along to Soul Wars and tell us how much experience a single zeal will give you for the skill that meets the criteria (and also tell us which skill it was)? Don't worry if someone else seems to have already posted the information, more info means we can reduce typos and such. :) Many thanks!

As always back up your registry before making any changes - you CAN damage stuff if you don't follow my instructions correctly. Start -> Run -> regedit Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon On the right you should see a key called DefaultPassword, right click it and delete it. You should also see one called AutoAdminLogon, double click it and change the value to 0 if it's not already 0. Make sure you know your account password before you restart. Reboot.

Actually as far as I can tell all the fansites both Mechscape and RuneScape that Jagex wished to contact were contacted on the same day. We just chose to announce the contact much later than MechScape World & RHQ did.

Your version of SpeedFan is out of date and the offset for the Q6600 (and some other quads) is off. It used to be off in CoreTemp too but it was fixed some time ago, as with SpeedFan. [hide=Temps][/hide]

Make sure you give Youtube time to process the video. Although the video appears fairly fast at standard def, the HQ and HD options do not appear for sometimes a few hours while it re-encodes them.

There's no need to create any form of automated scripts to refresh the page over and over, simply wait a minute or so and then submit your post, or if you get the flood control message, wait a minute and refresh.

Steam and all the Valve games I've tried (TF2/HL2/L4D etc.) run perfectly under WINE.

It's not too difficult to parse the GE using PHP with cURL and a bit of regex.

I can't post a speedtest.net result for my home connection as it always seems to mess up the download speed by a ridiculous factor, here's an example : However, here's an accurate one from another site: And here's an accurate one from my server just for fun: :P

We've gone through today and tried to change the database collation to allow extended characters to be used in posts and topics again. You are welcome to use UTF8 characters in your blogs and such again, if you come across any database errors in the process, then please send me a PM with the printout it gave you as well as the circumstances under which it occured. Realtek is the brand of his sound card, not the speakers, so it's irrelevant in this issue.

Nadril is correct, it's a security feature that's now built-in to Firefox. How long has it been a feature? I seem to recall seeing it in earlier versions of FF. Or maybe I'm mixing the Google list of malicious sites with this, I know I've been blocked from a bad site at least once by Google. It's kind of a mix between the two. I believe the feature has been in there since Firefox 3, but they use Google's page diagnostics to check if they should block it or not, so the two features are essentially one in the same, just Firefox checks for dodgy stuff when you load the domain rather than Google only checking when you use one of their search results.

It says non-commercial, so you may be able to get away with distribution providing you're making no profit from it. Best people to ask are Jagex themselves. I don't think they have an issue with people using their graphics as such, and they can pull the copyright card if they want. For example there's thousands of RuneScape videos on Youtube, but I have seen Jagex make copyright claims against the videos when they showed how to exploit bugs in RuneScape. This probably means they COULD take down videos and graphics they own, but choose not to when it's only giving their game popularity.

Don't use characters beyond the normal latin a-z0-9 and symbol range.

They may be delayed by 12 hours today as we ran into a DNS issue on the server hosting them. What this means is that it couldn't contact the high scores when it tried to update and fell back onto the data we already held about you in our database, so if your sig was due to update earlier today you may need to wait until tonight for it to go through.
