  1. I agree. Personally I didn't bother planning either of my 99s in advance. When I got close to leveling I just invited any friends that were online at the time. They went with me to get the cape and that was about it. I think it's better that way, because then your friends don't feel like they have to stay and hang out even though they have things they'd rather be doing.
  2. I've got... 11 XD I don't slay much, haha.
  3. For a bare minimum, just choose either salamander, magic, or melee, and put on whatever armor/weapon you're willing to risk. Regardless of which style you choose, bring a melee weapon and some armor with decent defense for the tunnels, and put on a ring of life. Put 3 or 4 prayer pots in your inventory. Fill the rest with food, but don't forget your spade and a teleport out (one-click tele is advised, like a teletab or something, just in case you need to get out quick). Use pray for everything, eat when necessary, etc. You'll be able to get a feel for what you're doing, and figure out how it works, although you'll probably use up a lot of prayer pots in the process XD Good luck & have fun ;D
  4. I didn't know I could use mangled bones for that instead, that's a huge relief. Thanks for all the tips everyone, I think I should be able to do this pretty easily :]
  5. Again, I still value the bonuses of a prayer book far more than a speed increase. I've been to barrows with friends who were using salamanders, and we still killed the brothers in just about the same amount of time, if not faster with the slayer dart. You may be right about the cost, though I still prefer slayer dart.
  6. In addition to this- Hunter: Spirit Larupia, teleports you right to red chinchompa hunting spot, and invisible +5 hunter bonus. Very, very helpful to me when I went for 99 hunter.
  7. I don't really see how it's cheaper, as I never pay for runes because I get so many from the barrows chest. You still have to pay for your salamander ammo (though I'm sure it doesn't cost much, no cost is still better than a small cost). I don't know if it's faster, but even if it is, it's two handed, and I personally value the prayer/attack bonuses of a prayer book over a minimal speed increase.
  8. Basically, you have 3 main methods of barrow-ing with magic: 1. Wear robes, use magic, and pray the whole time. 2. Wear low defense armor that doesn't hinder your magic too much, pray most of the time. 3. Wear high defense armor, hardly pray at all. I do method 3. Here's my armor setup, and my inventory: {You can replace some of this stuff- Fury>Glory, Skillcape>Mage arena cape>Obby cape, Barrows gloves>Other stat boosting glove or bracelet, Karils bow>Rune cbow, etc} I fill up my prayer before I go. I use slayer dart, which requires mind and death runes and 55 slayer. First, I go down the Dharok mound. If it isn't a tunnel, I use protect melee and kill him. Second, I kill Karil using protect range. Third, I go to Verac. If I have any prayer points left I use them here, but it isn't necessary. Fourth, Torag. Easy kill, no prayer. Fifth, Guthan. Also quite easy, no prayer needed. Sixth, I put on my black d'hide, equip my karil's cbow, and kill Ahrim. He can get a couple good hits in, but most of the time he won't hit much, so no prayer is needed. Now, of course, one of those crypts will contain a tunnel. Skip it, kill all the other brothers, and come back. I equip my whip, and go into the tunnel. This part is a bit confusing at first, but you learn your way around it after a while. Basically, the tunnel is a 3x3 square, with the chest in the middle. If my tunnel was in Karil or Dharok's crypt, when I run into them, I drink 2-3 doses of my prayer pot, turn on the corresponding protect prayer, re-equip my staff, and kill them. If it was Ahrim/Verac/Torag/Guthan, I do the same thing, except I don't use any prayer. I get my kill count to around 10-15 before opening the chest, then use my teletab to get out. I use house tabs, since I have an altar and a canifis portal there. I charge my pray, go through my portal, bank, and run back to barrows. Personally, this method works extremely well for me. I hardly use any pray pots (about 2 or 3 doses per 5 trips), I usually only need to eat 5 monks at the most, and since slayer dart uses mind/death runes and you get mind/death runes as a reward from barrows, I don't pay for runes either. This method is virtually costless, except for the occasional prayer pot and minimal food intake.
  9. Well, I really hate fighting boss monsters, so I've been putting off completing my fremennik achievement diary for ages. I need to kill a mithril dragon, and I need to get a drop of chewed bones from them to make a pyre ship. I also just got the slayer level for skeletal wyverns, so I can complete my falador diary as well. So, I have questions for you all :] 1. What should my inventory/equipment look like for mith dragons, and how many will I be able to kill per trip? Stats are below, in my sig. Oh, and can I do it without a dfs? I can afford one, but I'd have to sell a lot of things to do it, and it's kind of a hassle that I'd rather not have to do. 2. How rare is a chewed bones drop? 3. What about wyverns? I know nothing about them, are they difficult to kill? What should I bring with me? Thanks in advance for your help everyone :]
  10. I've never had much luck with barrows, even though I do it a lot. I've had a total of 5 barrows items, and I've done 600+ trips. Luck is really not on my side -.-
  11. This, I hate to see those people with a d-med, granite body and d-long >< Ughh, I hate that too. Add on an untrimmed strength cape and it's even worse.
  12. It's not very common, but it could be worse. I don't have any exact statistics but from my experience I'd say about 1 in every 250 kills, with ring of wealth. You might get lucky though, I got 2 in 100 kills before.
  13. Got 86 strength, pretty close to 86 defense as well. After that I'll just need to score one more attack/strength/defense level to get 116 combat :]
  14. Here's what I do: Full amount of workers on coal. Half full on flax. Once every week, I chop logs to get my approval to 100%. Then I go to the advisor guy, get my loot from the previous week, and top off the coffers to about 1.5m or so. Wait a week. Repeat. I usually make around 900k to a mil per week. I'm not sure if other setups are better, but I don't recommend putting your workers on maple logs. Yes, you get birds nests, which if you're lucky can contain a magic seed, but that's nothing compared to the consistent amounts of high cash from coal. Also, maples are hard to sell.
  15. Call me old school I guess, but I've been wearing my ring of wealth for the past 4 or 5 years. I know there are other rings out there, but I've never really felt like they were necessary. Money really isn't an issue to me, I don't mind spending a bit if it's something useful. I don't ever do gwd or anything like that, just normal pvm combat like slayer. So, should I look into buying a warrior or berserker ring? Are they worth the small bonuses? Or am I better off staying with my good old ring of wealth?
  16. That's really cute :] My favorite outfit is pretty much anything with my hunter cape. I'll probably edit this with a picture later, if I remember XP
  17. This  I usually don't mind just keeping it to friends, but after like the 10th "Heyyy come to fight pits with me!" or "Buy my willow logs? No one on the ge wants them" I just get annoyed and turn it off >.< Although I do turn it to on occasionally, I'm not totally antisocial. XD
  18. Hmm.. You have 3 different amulets (power, magic, strength), so I'd get rid of everything but the power ammy. Power gives you +6 everything, which probably better than just +10 str or just +10 mage attack. What sword is that at the end of the first tab? If it's not something you use a lot, that could probably go. You could probably get rid of most of the tiaras, you probably don't use some of those much and if you need them they don't cost much to buy back. Get rid of the dragon kite, unless you wear it around a lot. I have no idea what that thing is next to the keys. Is it necessary? Buy some gold bars, make all your gems into amulets/necklaces/etc and sell them. Or, just sell the gems. Feathers are unnecessary to keep, and they're cheap as dirt to buy back if you do need them again. If it really comes down to it, you could also get rid of the lob pot and fishing pole, since those are easy to get back if you need them.
  19. I'm kind of curious what everyone thinks is the ugliest item, what they hate seeing other people wearing on rs. For me, it's the neitiznot helm. I try not to wear mine, ever, even though the bonuses are good. I just feel like a fool >.< What's your ugliest item? XD
  20. Ugh, mining. Runecrafting is probably slower, but it's more interesting, making it a lot less tedious. Mining just.. Sucks.
  21. Used up the charms from my slaying the last couple days and picked up a summoning level :twss: Probably going to keep slaying for a while, I love this new bgs.
  22. Caught my first drag imp just now, with the help of my friend :] Easy 350k, woot
  23. Got 86 attack, 71 slayer, and 115 combat. Pretty good day today :]
  24. I don't really fight boss monsters much, so my best was dragon legs, way back in the day when they were worth 3m+.
  25. Just bought myself a bandos godsword, so I've been slaying today. I love hitting 30+ frequently :]
